Does anyone know what it's like for everything to be about a pill?
This is how it went for awhile,
Me: "Mom, can I go play?"
Mom: "Not till you take your meds.
or
Dad: "You forgot to take your medicine."
Me: "I'm sorry..."
Dad: "You're grounded for a week."

I have A.D.H.D and a anxiety disorder, and anxiety attacks can lead to panic attacks...so they put me on pills..

About ayear ago I couldn't stand the fact that the medication had become more important then me being happy, on top of that I was skinny, and underweight because the medication highered my already naturally high metabilism. I got depressed..and my parents didn't notice, so I talked to a friend who knew about medication and they explained to me how to get off of it. The doctor didn't listen to me, nor did my parents, so I slowly lowered my own dosage.
Problem: My parents recently found out, but since I've been off the meds I get better grades, and feel happier, but my parents are mad about the money I wasted when they didn't listen, so now I'm in the doghouse.
Just a note, before I got off of the meds, I was on the verge of suicide...
Advice please?

that's a hard one, hun. though i understand where your parents are coming from they really should listen to you. it's great that you are learning to regulate yourself and are slowly getting off the medication. i work with a lot of people who are very dependant on pills and though we try to help them work through their issues, they sometimes need the medical help. you should keep the pills around in case of emergances, but if you don't need them anymore stop taking them. your parents might get mad at you, but it's your body and they can't force you to take the medication. everyone, even minors, have the right to refuse medication and if they try to force you to take the pills then you should go to your school councilor or someone who can help you.

regardless of what is going on, suicide is not the answer. i know you will hear it a million times from a million people, but as one of those million as well as one who's attempted at their own life, i promise you that it will solve nothing. if you do it right then that is the end, if not then the people around you become worse and they will try to force even stronger medications on you (knows from experiance). i hope that your parents will come to understand that you know yourself and your body better than they do. and if they want to push it remind them that they didn't know you were taking lower doses for a long time which means you were just fine with the lowered dose.

I'm not suicidal anymore, and I'm fully off of my meds now...but my mom is still pissed at me because I wasted money...
