Little Temperance had wandered further away from her parents as she was, in her mind, an adult. Although very much not a child anymore, she was smaller than a regular Soquili as well as smaller than an average Usdia. There had been times she had been awfully close to being eaten because of her size, but she never really noticed.
She let out a sneeze as the combination of the water and the flower pollen went into her nose. Her body shuddered as a slight wind picked up and she decided to move into the forest instead of out towards to field; it seemed like there could be a downpour at any moment, and her wings were not very fond of the moisture.
Trotting into the forest while humming a happy tune, she wondered where there would be shelter for her during the rain.

It was always a little bit hard to be shunned because of his heritage, despite the fact that he displayed obvious Kirin qualities, as well. He supposed the wings and the horns were just too big and too much for some Soquili and he respected that. But with such an upbeat and outgoing personality, always looking for a new friend, being turned away was disheartening. He didn't even take a moment to consider that it was partly his personality that turned others off. When excited, he could be more than a little obnoxious.
Lifting his head to the sky, the stallion could smell the shifting of the weather and suddenly began to feel excited again. Rain was always fun to play in, at least until he got too cold. By now he was almost to the shelter of the trees on the other side of the field, so he could hide underneath the canopy if the rain started coming down too heavy. In one great swoosh, he unfurled his wings from his side, enjoying the feel of wind rushing under and over the leathers. And, as if on cue, something plopped on the tip of his nose. He stared down his muzzle.
One, two, three more. Just small drops for now, then the sky seemed to stop for a moment. Canting his head, he shrugged to himself and curled his wings back. It would have been nice to stay and wait for all the rain to fall, but he was on an adventure now—everyday was an adventure in his mind—and he wanted to keep moving. Shooting one last glance across the clearing to where he had met the small family, he smiled lightly, then moved into the cover of the trees.

As Tempy made her way to the forest, each step she took became a little bit harder. With the rainfall, the dirt was slowly getting too moist for her little hooves to walk in. She ran towards cover in a hurry, hoping that the branches and leaves of a large tree would help her stay dry enough. She looked up and saw the raindrops falling onto the leaves, and sliding down, one eventually hitting her nose. Tempy was having fun and was in somewhat of a trance until she heard the crunch of a branch; someone was around here...?
She quickly glanced around, looking for what made the sound. Eventually, she saw something moving around and decided to take a look, still trotting happily. Tempy didn't notice nor try to notice the horns and wings that were very much Kalona. If something bad were to happen, no one would be around to hear her, since no one else appeared to be in the area, and the rain seemed to grow increasingly harder.
Tempy noticed that he seemed to be in a world of his own, and decided to greet him... Quite loudly. "HI THERE!" she said with excitement. The smile on her face might of seemed odd to others around a Soquili that was part Kalona, but Tempy was just happy to be around someone. She finally gave the stallion a glace over, and noticed... Wings!
"A-are those wings," she asked the stallion without even asking for his name. Tempy stared at them with wonder, wishing that the pair she had could bring her into the skies like the ones the stallion had. "They're so pretty...!" She didn't notice that the rains were soaking her coat as well as making her little wings quite a mess.

Muscles tightened and there was a sudden sense of dread building in his chest before his mind had a chance to process just what exactly had been said. All he knew was that when voices were loud around him, it usually meant someone was yelling to try and chase him off. Eyes darted around the area for the source. It took him another moment longer to realize that he had to look down to find it. With his stature, he was considerably taller than her.
"H-Hello," he muttered, lips pursed. His mouth had figured out the right thing to say, but his head was still confused and it showed through in his eyes. "I uh-" Before he could even continue on that train of thought, she asked about his wings. Oh no, not again. Tucking them closer at his side at her stuttering, he shook his head, although there really was no denying what they were.
"I get them from my mom, you s-" Again he was unable to finish as she spoke again. Brightness took over his face in an instant. If he had only realized right away that this little Usdia was more interested in him than afraid, he would have been more outgoing and friendly from the beginning. Those words could vie for equal spots as his middle name, after all.
"You think so?" he asked, voice picking up a small amount of pride as he spread his wings back out before repeating, "I get them from my mom," without sounding defensive.

Temperance jumped up a little bit as she flapped her moistened wings. They felt heavier than they would normally on a dry day, but the Usdia mare was excited that she met another horse with fly-able wings. As she jumped, Temperance also nodded her head, clearly excited and doing some sort of dance despite being drenched.
"Your mommy gave you those," Temperance said with surprise and awe. She wiggled the little wings behind her back. "I got these from my Mommy too, but..." she used her nose to point to the back of the stallion, "Nothing like those! These... Don't work properly. I can't fly."
The small mare continued to smile despite the rain continuing to come down. Temperance looked up and smiled at the stallion. "Your Mommy gave you something super special!" She nodded excitedly again and wiggled a little bit due to a bit of over-excitement. All she could think about was the first flight that she had on the back of another stallion. "I'm proud of what Mommy gave me, but you must be even more proud, huh?"
