Practice, practice, practice biggrin
I know its not the easiest to do, but really that is going to make a world of difference. Some other helpful things:
-flashcards, either on your own or through programs like anki. You can use this for hiragana, kanji, katakana, vocabulary, grammar/phrases
-games. Starry posted some good ones for hiragana practice
-try getting a penpal to practice with. Or even PM me and practice with me! I'm totally game heart
-keep asking questions and asking for examples. Or testing out your own and getting people to correct it.
...I had more but my memory is fading fast here...It's been a hectic week xd

best advice to go over a friend's house who is taking major on Japanese then you have the opportunity to study with them.

I haven't gotten good enough to do this with Japanese, but it really works with Spanish:
Translate your favorite song. When you listen to the song, you'll think of the translation, and it's a lot more interesting than flash cards. Also, you work on grammar.

I have trouble myself. Still practice is important. I try to listen to the subtitled animes and try to reinforce the words I already know when I hear them. Hope this helps.
