It was a pleasant day. At around lunchtime the sun was warm, yet not blazing hot, and the verdant park around him was a refreshing change to the desert. True there were the excited shrieks of small children to contend with, but he was able to tune those out thanks to a cup of truly excellent tea, a scone, and an entertaining book. He'd been quite lucky to get a table in the little outdoor cafe actually; only a few minutes after he'd arrived and sat down the last one was filled by a couple of businessmen.
Paying them and indeed the rest of the world no mind, Frost took a sip of his tea and turned the page of his book. Some space away from HQ was exactly what the doctor ordered... Well, the doctor had just ordered him to take a day off actually but it was a turn of phrase that was used for situations such as this irrespective of actual accuracy. Away from HQ. Away from the hustle and bustle. Away from Izaya. Perfect.
On ground level beside his chair, Skiron was enjoying himself too; he had a bowl of iced tea, and it was co much cooler here than in the desert. He liked it when his trainer had days off

Lestrade was delighted with the lovely weather. Perfect sunlight for a wonderful photosynthesis 'meal'. The sunlight was delicious as he led his trainer into the park; he could smell coffee here. Natural, outside environment where he could enjoy the sun -and- Jeremy could have coffee? Perfect. He was really beginning to like this city... And... people and pokemon everywhere! Even better! Maybe they could make a friend here; Arceus, they certainly needed an ally or two.
"Aha! I smell a brew!" Jeremy exclaimed to his leafy friend, delighted by where the Leafeon had led them. "What a wonderful place. Looks like we're going to have quite the quest on for seating though, my friend. Come. I'll get us some carrot cake and a coffee and then we shall endeavour to find me a seat, hm?"
Lestrade dipped his head and yipped affirmatively; this would be enjoyable. Seating was needed though and Lestrade decided he'd be better off seeking a place out. A nearby Glaceon caught his attention. There was only one human over there with him... That could work. He trotted over cautiously. <<Hello>> He greeted, somewhat awkwardly. <<May I encourage my trainer over here so that we might share this table with you and your human?>>

Skiron blinked and raised his head from his drink. It had been a long time since he’d seen a Leafeon. he greeted with a slight bob of his head, The pale skinned man would not thank him if he knew he’d encouraged the Leafon to encourage his trainer, but hopefully he wouldn’t guess that was what had transpired.
As the grass type trotted over and started speaking to Skiron, the small man in the immaculate dark grey suit raised an eyebrow slightly. “Found a friend, Skiron?” he asked mildly, not really expecting an answer.

"Aha, aha! Wonderful there, Lestrade!" Before the Leafeon had even had a chance to turn and guide his trainer over toward the table, a rather well groomed man bearing a coffee cup and a plate of carrot cake had appeared. "And I see you've found yourself a comrade, there. Very good." The man was a sort of pepper-gray brunette with streaks of a somewhat blonder tone in odd, curves upon the top of his head. He was suit-clad, today in a pleasant blue, with a light blue shirt and a red tie worn somewhat loose. His eyes were a silver-grey and lending themselves to pale blue; they looked Frost over as a smile tugged one corner of Jeremy's mouth slightly further up than the other. "Aha. My deepest apologies, Sir, but my Leafeon was tasked with finding a seat that I might occupy. Now, only if it is of no inconvenience, might I request to join you at this table? Between you and me, I do not much fancy sharing with a young couple or a bawling, shouty child and I rather think you to be far removed from either of those."
<<Thankyou. My trainer is...>> Aha, and there he was. <<Here.>> Lestrade finished with an apologetic smirk and a shrug. <<Oh, I am hoping he will not bother your human overmuch; he can be a very strange human sometimes. It is nice to meet you, Skiron; I am called Lestrade.>>

...Humm. Not an unattractive man by any means. Well dressed, that always helped. "I can understand that," Frost said softly, closing his book and setting it aside. "There are very few things in the world more vile than noisy, sticky, impertinent children. If you will introduce yourself, you are welcome to join me. My name is Dimitri Wilson. I gather your Leafeon is named Lestrade? My Glaceon is Skiron." He hadn't planned on company but at least this man - who looked somewhere close to his own age - seemed civilized. Anyway, he supposed it would be good to talk to somebody from outside Team Rocket for a change.
Skiron replied with a soft chuckle. He hoped so, it would be nice for his trainer to have more friends... would be nice for him to have more friends too come to that.

"An introduction! Of course. Quite right, too." The suit-clad man flashed a grin and bent ever so slightly at his waist. A very informal sort of bow. "It is a pleasure to meet, and share a table with you Dimitri Wilson and Skiron; my name is Jeremy. Jeremy H. Bell, to be precise, but Jeremy, or 'Bell' I suppose if you absolutely had to, will do just fine. And, you are quite correct; my companion there is indeed named Lestrade." He placed the carrot cake and coffee cup down onto the table, before pulling out his chair and sitting, one leg casually snaking its way across the other as he crossed them around the ankles. "I do enjoy a spot of company on a day like today but among the current crowd here... well, I think Lestrade has made an excellent judgement in wandering this way."
<<Perhaps so. I would certainly hope so. We are new to this region and it would be nice if we were to able to make a friend or two here. I was very glad to spot you both.>> The Leafeon attempted a friendly smile. <<Do you like carrot cake? My trainer always shares it with me but.. I am fed well enough by the sunshine, I do not like to hurt his feelings though.>>

"Jeremy then," Frost (Dmitry, or Dimitri even) nodded politely to the half-bow. After that, however, he wasn't really sure what to say. Maybe he too should comment on the general populous. "Not exactly a prize pick of society," he observed, scanning the crowd for himself, "but then I usually think that. So many people lack even basic good manners. I am glad that you appear to be civilized... What brings you to the city then? Business or pleasure?" Smalltalk. He could cope with this. Maybe he should have commented on the fine weather. Well he could always do that later if needs be he supposed.
Skiron replied with a soft chirr, Share and share alike. Besides, he probably wouldn't finish it all by himself. he added after a moment.

"I, too, am glad that I appear to be civilized!" Jeremy chuckled as he set the carrot cake on the floor, close to the two eeveelutions, leaning from his chair to place the plate down and then straightening again to take his coffee cup between two hands.
"Both. I have come to live here. And to live anyway, one requires the root of all evils. Thus I must engage in business." He smiled before sipping the dark liquid with satisfaction. "I do find this city pleasurable, however. And yourself, Dimitri? Are you a native of this fine place?" Dimitri just... didn't strike a chord as a native name, though of course that might have been an incorrect assumption.
<<Ah. Tea. Thankyou very much indeed; I do rather like tea as a change from water.>> The fox-ish pokemon then gestured a paw toward the carrot cake, indicating that Skiron should take some whenever he liked. <<Oh, we have not been here long. Perhaps a week. I rather like it. I have see some interesting trainers and pokemon though I have not met so many properly. I have barely seen a Glaceon before, though I have visited a place that is said to produce your species. It was most interesting. Cold, but interesting.>>

"No no," Frost made a small dismissive gesture, "I'm not from around here. I arrived... Mmh, just over six months ago now." He needed to think up some kind of occupation that it would be impossible for Jeremy to check up on. He supposed he could claim to be independently wealthy, but that would probably just raise more questions. Maybe he'd say he played the stock market, he had made money that way in the past so he knew enough to lie about it. Yes. That would do.
"What kind of business to you mean to engage in to obtain this necessary root then?" Frost enquired after a moment, stretching his small-talk skills to the limit. "I presume something cerebral. You do not look like a builder or a checkout boy." But then again he himself didn't much look like an expert mechanic, let alone one that worked for a criminal empire. Looks could be deceiving, did Jeremy's device him?
Skiron smiled, After a brief pause to take a bite of cake - which was very good indeed - Skiron raised his head to continue the conversation, licking a few crumbs away from around his mouth. he replied, There was, of course, one of his own kind that he knew quite well. He wondered what she was doing today, he hadn't had a chance to see her recently... the ice-type continued, He never had set as much store by keeping track of time as his master had, but it did seem about that length of time.

"Oh?" Jeremy inquired languidly. This -really- was a good cup of coffee... Dimitri was certainly pleasant enough... Interesting and rather perceptive too... But he did -have- to note the quality of the beverage and make a quick mental note of this place. Yes, crowds and children be-damned, he was mostly assuredly going to try to frequent this place... "So... Where is it that you came from to be here? Oh, I could try to deduce it... The name, the, ahem, ice type you have... Even your dress and mannerism, but my skills in such a field do not quite parallel those of the great fictionals with whom I claim a shared interest and intended profession." The man grinned a little, almost apologetically. "Sorry. I have quite a tendency for the rambling flourish against the straight forward reveal; I intend to offer my services as a private detective. It isn't something that I've never dabbled in... so I'm aware of the limited nature of such an occupation. Thus my job hunt as of the moment is rather more general in scope. In short, as long as it's no mind-numbing drudgery, I am likely to take it." Another sip of the excellent coffee before he passed his eyes over the other man once again. "And may I ask of yourself? Your occupation? Any details of such occupation as might suit would be welcome for me to hear."
<<An extremely excellent practice,>> Agreed Lestrade with a pleased wag of his leafy taill. He was honestly relieved that both he and his trainer seemed to be getting along with someone... His trainer could be both a buffoon and a jerk sometimes despite his good intentions. It was nice that nothing had yet gone wrong. He bent to sniff at the tea, taking an experimental lap and then straightening back up, still wearing a happy enough expression. <<Ah. This is good... As for such. I believe you are right. As an Eevee, I remember that all I would see were Flareons, Vaporeons or other Eevees... I felt -right- though, when my trainer and I went into that forest... Here I have glimpsed a Jolteon among the crowds alongside the usual types, some Eevees and now yourself... Oh!>> He pointed a paw up at the pokeball remaining on his trainer's belt. <<Forgive my rudeness. That is Dupin. I believe she is sleeping right now, but I am sure she would be delighted to meet you if she were awake.>>

It would have been interesting to see what Jeremy would have said if he had been willing to hazard a guess, but he wasn't about to press the issue. A detective. Interesting. Perhaps he could be made use of... Well, time would tell. "I came here from Johto," Frost replied, sipping at his tea and choosing not to specify further unless he was asked; no point in telling unnecessary lies that he might have to recall at a later date. "As for my occupation, I am... I suppose self employed; I make my money on the stock market. Detective work sounds rather more interesting than that, although I can imagine that as you say it is limited... Humm, and where have you come from? I am no detective myself so I couldn't even begin to hazard a guess."
Skiron smiled and gave a slight nod, Were Persephone let out she would probably want to blow up the cake and make Lestrade's trainer fall asleep face first in his coffee.

"Aha. Wonderful place, Johto." Jeremy nodded approvingly, his thoughts roving over to the man who'd originally given him Dupin. "I have a friend from there; he lives in Sinnoh now." The 'detective' smiled. "... And that's the answer to your other question there. I hail from Sinnoh, myself. From Canalave City, in fact."
"As for the detective work being interesting... Well of course; the solving of mysteries and the putting together of puzzles... It's extremely interesting for the bulk of the mental exercise but there can be a lot of hard, sometimes dull, work that goes into enabling the fun, interesting parts. And, unfortunately, there is not always a case, thus I must seek out other oppurtunities."
Jeremy sipped once more at his, now warm, beverage and canted his head slightly, curiously. "Now. Self-employed. I could call myself that right now, but the field is not bringing in the money required. I take it that playing the stocks has been a profitable occupation?"
<<I shall. She has been trying to decide what she would like to become... I have a feeling that she has already chosen to be honest, but does not yet wish to commit herself. She will be interested to hear of a Glaceon and disappointed that she has not met you, but perhaps she might wake up before we are to part.>> The Leafeon looked over at the Glaceon's trainer, intrigued by the talk of this unsociable pokemon <<Oh? What sort of a pokemon is your trainer's other pokemon?>>

"It takes skill, and of course involves risk," Frost said with a slight shrug, "but it can be profitable, yes. It depends on how many risks you take, and how big those risks you take are... In general I avoid too much risk. It is all very well for a large stock broker to gamble with the money of big businessmen, but a more conservative approach is more sensible if you are trying to make a stable income for yourself. Small calculated risks and a wide range of investments." Some people might not find that very exciting, but he had in the past been accused of not being a very exciting person. Such accusations didn't trouble him as they were a matter of opinion, and said opinion was wrong in any case.
Skiron chuckled, the ice-type gave a soft chirr, which might translate to a mild tut to disapproval in human terms. he sighed,

"Forgive my observations, but it does not seem that such a thing is so far removed for detective work after all; risk and skill and I imagine some foresight and deduction are involved too... Hm. Certainly, it seems very interesting. And the way you describe it seems a much more reasonable way of doing things than so many I have heard of; perhaps I shall, when I have a more reasonable income, try my luck at finding a few things to invest in, myself." Jeremy mused, with a slight eye to the cafe- surely businesses like these were widespread and usually profitable. He'd have to look into it.
<<Hm. Well. I am fairly certain that she has chosen to become a Jolteon. I fear that it may be somewhat due to a... reluctance to become something with a type advantage over myself- to which I have assured her I would never mind- but she has assured me in return that a Jolteon is simply one of the types that she has found most interest in thus far.>> The Leafeon twitched his ears and pawed the ground a little. <<Ah. She sounds... Most, um, interesting.>> Lestrade found himself choosing his words carefully. <<Thankfully Dupin is nothing like that... But she has a... distance to others. She worries me slightly.>>

"Mmmh." Frost took another sip of tea. "I suppose the two do share some commonalities," he agreed, "research too of course, and when all else fails a wild stab in the dark. Not everything can be predicated." Sadly. Humm, well, no actually the occasional surprise was nice. "In any case, I would recommend you start small," Frost went on, "you ought to, mmh, 'get the hang of it'," he made air quotes, "before you invest heavily in anything."
Skiron nodded, He couldn't imagine having been evolved into anything else now, but he had to wonder what it might have been like.
