The talent is a power that is outside of the school system. Basically, a character may have ONE special talent that makes he/she unique. This is usually the product of the character's past, where something may have happened to set them apart from others. For example, a warrior who was made blind during a battle may have developed strengthened hearing and other senses to make up for his lack of sight.

RPC Name: Emma Green
Level: 1
Main Style: N/A
Talent Description: This talent allows Emma to completely ignore the pain from injuries. The higher her level is the longer she can resist bad injuries without starting to hurt even worse due to delayed pain. As a level one she can only resist serious pain for one post, as two she can resist for two posts, as ten she can resist for ten posts. That should be a basic enough idea.
Talent Weakness: Emma can resist pain from injuries, but they still affect her. Death will kill her she just won't be able to feel the pain along the way. Even if she can't feel real pain she can still be defeated from excess pain, being near death is an example of too much pain.
How did the character get this talent?: Emma had a hard childhood so she was always able to resist painful experiences. She has markings all over her body, but these aren't decoration, they're all scars. When she got these scars it was the most painful experience she'd ever had, making her unable to feel pain. The more scars she got the less pain affected her, making her the perfect killing machine since her emotions were locked and her mind did not register pain.
Sample: Emma was just exiting a battle, her body covered in cuts, yet she felt absolute nothing. Somebody had sliced a vein in her arm so moving it was a no go for now she supposed. She was practically bleeding out and she didn't even feel it. She'd almost failed that supposedly friendly spar when it got violent since she was so beat up, all of her broken bones proved that fact. "You don't feel that?" Some random guy asked her. She shrugged and began to feel searing pain somehow. "That's not good, I think I'm injured." Several surprised people looked at her after that comment before she walked away. She was leaving her blood-stained footprints everywhere, but she didn't feel any of it.

RPC Name: Irkai Hotzu
Level: 1
Main Style: N/A
Talent Description: Irkai is sort of a hand to hand combat genius. Martial arts styles come naturally to him when he is learning them. Cutting in half how long it takes for him to learn martial arts styles, and the techniques in them.
Talent Weakness: Irkai is unable to even hold a weapon the correct way, so can not use weapon styles.
How did the character get this talent?: Through some unknown training he received during the 13 years he had seemed to disappear.
Sample: Not really sure how to RP this. o=o

The edits I'm most willing to make are in red. Of course, I understand that this is probably a very op talent as it is even with the edits I could think of off the top of my head, so I'm willing to make any other changes sweatdrop .

RPC Name: Setsuna Akira
Level: 1
Main Style: None
Talent Description: Within Setsuna, the opposing essences of void and energy are present, their very presence creating the third force of chaos. With such a volatile balance within the girl,Setsuna's abilities differed greatly from others, forcing her to forge her own path as she uncovered weaknesses and strengths that most others don't have. I'm alright with allowing only one portion show up at each rank. For instance, level 1 gives access to only general stuff, level 2 expands to energy, level 3 expands to void, and then level 4 expands to chaos. Of course, the passive effects will remain at all levels, but active stuff such as skills will only be unlocked at the proper rank. Chaos's dismantling ability will be considered active but because the observation needed to dismantle a skill really falls under the energy category rather than the chaos category, I'll have that unlock at the level that the energy abilities unlock at.
•General
Description: Setsuna's body is naturally built for speed, her stature somewhat smaller and more fragile than the average body, which is partly due to the chaos that weakens the physical strength of her body from within. Other than the usual class specifications, the volatile array of energy, void, and chaos within Setsuna also shows physical manifestations that represent just how uncontrollable the combination can be at times. The majority of these physical side-effects prove to be negative but there are some indirect positive consequences.
Strengths: Setsuna is one rank faster in most situation and two ranks faster whenever she performs an action relying on reflexes (ex: dodging). Additionally, her inability to completely master any main style gives her a wider than average range of fighting styles. Every other level, she is able to take up an addition style and after mastering all of her styles at sage rank, she is able to take up a third extra style. Her inability to use her right eye without negative consequences on her body has also indirectly caused Setsuna to be able to use energy to sense her surroundings through a combination of minor energy detection, her five senses, and instinct. Without training, all this does is negate Setsuna's lack of depth perception with only one eye. With further training, though, this passive ability to expand even more (explained more in the energy section).
Weaknesses: Most importantly, Setsuna cannot have a main style. Her naturally volatile nature prevents any sort of specialization in the normal methods. Now, on to the rest. Just as Setsuna's light body is built for speed, it is definitely not built for strength with a one rank deductions in both strength and defense and even the strength/defense bonuses from hand-to-hand styles are halved. Likewise, the girl cannot wield any heavy weaponry or wear any heavy armor. Additionally, the volatile balance of energy, chaos, and void creates a number of negative side-effects.
•Energy
Description: While energy is naturally found in all beings, Setsuna has an abnormally pure store within her. However, this energy is simply condensed, allowing her to use less energy for most skills. In fact, Setsuna actually has less energy than most other people thanks to another attribute.
Strengths: Setsuna is able to perform up to D-rank energy-only (just energy, nothing holy or negative) skills from any style (ex: Setsuna can use Recall from the Snake Sword style without learning the style because it involves little skill with the weapon but cannot learn Bolt as it requires skill with the weapon and has no relation to energy). Additionally, her highly condensed energy allows her to pull off any and all skills with only half of the required energy (when needed, round up). Setsuna is also able to develop (in other words, this'll be a passive skill I'll create) very basic energy-sensing abilities. She is able to differentiate between, identify, and recognize individuals who are close to her and skill that are used close to her (physically, of course) even if she can't learn any other information. This skill is accurate enough that the girl could fight without her eyes if need be and sense any large disturbances in energy that affect the entirety of Ludus (this just means that she'll be able to sense some of the major events that happen). As expected, the girl can create and use her own, personal energy-related skills. If needed, I can limit these up to B or A rank.
Weaknesses: I honestly can't think of any weaknesses for this part so some help would be appreciated sweatdrop .
•Void
Description: The void within Setsuna negates numerous energy-related/mental effects (ex: seduction, having her past/future seen, having her energy detected) and allows her to use void skills (which I will make). Setsuna's void tainted aura also allows her to excel in hiding and sneaking, with the sounds, smells, energy, and anything else she emits being considerably deadened by her aura. Often times, her very presence is so dulled that people fail to notice that she is in a room until the see her directly. Most of the time, Setsuna uses her void to passively and automatically hide her energy whenever she is not fighting, using a skill, or attacking in any way. This talent is mainly useful as a maneuver to sneak past an energy sensor. However, it can also be used as an escape method during battle if Setsuna manages to get over two meters away from the energy sensor and stays that far away as she escapes (distance does not matter out of combat). Setsuna can also hide specific portions of her energy rather than all of it, making it possible to fool people of her rank by only allowing a certain amount of energy to go through. As with custom energy skills, I'm okay with limiting void skills up to B or A rank.
Weaknesses: On the downside, her relation to void gives her a lower total energy than most, about 3/4 of the average amount. It is also what indirectly causes her lack of strength. With void taking up some of the area that energy is supposed to take up, Setsuna is forced to have less energy, thus she has a smaller store of energy and lower strength/defense (explained more in the general section).
•Chaos
Description: The two polar opposites of void and energy combined in Setsuna to create chaos. By integrating this mixture of void and energy into the energy of another person,
Strengths: Setsuna is able to throw the other energy out of whack, dissipating the non-physical portion of any skill into a useless mass of chaos and leaving only the physical movement of the skill to do any damage (ex: a stream of fire will dissipate, a kinectic weapon will no longer exist, a lightning-boosted attack will become a simple attack, a rock that had been controlled with some skill will continue with whatever force it had a moment ago but will cease to be controlled). However, to do this, Setsuna must know the energy make-up of the skill, its "program", and how to dismantle it, a task that requires some basic observation. As a result, Setsuna must either see/sense the skill she wishes to dismantle at least four times or (in the case of long-lasting skills such as barriers and skills that require charging) analyze the skill for at least three whole posts. The knowledge taken from these observations are kept as part of Setsuna's memory as if they were skills themselves. Then, to dismantle the energy, the girl needs to use up half the energy used initially for the skill she plans on disabling. In addition to this basic ability, Setsuna is also able to learn any other chaos-related skills (which I will make).
Weaknesses: Until she manages to identify and deactivate the technique, Setsuna is unable to do anything with chaos. Additionally, just as the chaos helps her, so does it hurt her. The human body is not meant to house both energy, void, and their result, chaos. As such, a number of Setsuna's physical aspects are affected by this unnatural phenomenon. The most seen and already mentioned is her inability to use her right eye. Although it can see perfectly fine, whenever Setsuna uses her right eye, energy leaks out of it (for every post the right eye sees, lose 10 energy points) and so she usually covers it with a solid-color contact that doesn't allow the eye to be used at all. As a result, Setsuna can't usually see from the right eye and so has a large blind spot on her right side. Another result of her volatile aura is her inability to lie. While the specifics are unknown, what is known as that whenever Setsuna tries to tell an outright lie (half-truths and word-plays are alright), she begins to feel nauseous and ends up blurting out the truth whenever she pushes herself to hard. The most dangerous unnatural side-effect is probably Setsuna's reaction to blood, specifically seeing blood. When she is calm, she can usually handle seeing minimal to moderate amounts of blood but immediately freezes over anything more. When not calm (ex: in battle), the problem gets worse and anything more than the amount of blood shown from a light wound leaves Setsuna in a helpless state of shock. There is some reprieve, though, as she is not affected by seeing her own blood. The only plausible explanation for this out-of-the-blue weakness is a combination of a natural dislike of blood, her traumatic experience of falling unconscious in her own parent's blood, and the volatile nature of her own aura.
Talent Weakness: Look at the description.
How did the character get this talent?: During the explosion that killed her parents, large amounts of Gene-X were released into the air, entering the systems of those in the facility. The majority of the victims died, with Setsuna being one of the few survivors who withstood the fatal dose and definitely the survivor that had received the most of the gene considering that she had fainted right in the room that had been the source of the explosion. Due to this abnormally large amount of exposure at an unheard of age to a gene that had never been produced combined with the long period of time it remained mostly unused within the girl, Setsuna's gene has mutated into something that is unique to her and only her. However, having been only 8 at the time, the girl does not hold that she holds this ability inside of her.

Sample: Setsuna stayed absolutely still in the trees, her breathing rhythmic and controlled, as she watched her target. If it weren't for her strange aura, which deadened the noises that her body naturall made, she would have been found ages ago just by the sound of her heartbeat judging from the sensitivity she was told the boy's hearing had. With such sensitive hearing, Setsuna knew that even she would need to put extra effort into sneaking around. A snapped branch was much louder than a beating heart and even with her knack for remaining hidden, the boy would notice it.

However, at the same time, it wasn't like Setsuna could remain hidden for forever. Sooner or later, she'd take a wrong step and her presence would be revealed. Furthermore, there was no merit in continuing to trail her target like this. The objective of this game was to take one of the player's hostage. Judging from her calculations, she was far better off by using her current advantage of a sneak attack than not using it. the girl wondered as she tried to find the least obvious attack she could go through with, With that thought, the girl slowly and quietly pulled a dagger from its sheathe. Still, her target failed to realize that he was being followed; at least, he seemed to. Then, without a moment's hesitation, Setsuna threw the dagger at her opponent's head as she came out of her cover.

the girl figured as the boy defended and counterattacked with a speed that only meant he had heard Setsuna a while ago. Rather than defending from his thrown kinectic weapon, though, Setsuna took it head on as she charged with a speed that rivaled that of people a rank higher than her. However, she took no damage from it. The skill was a common skill that she had seen more than enough to be able to dismantle with a simple touch. The target was somewhat shocked at this unheard of ability; however, he kept his calm like any good fighter and switched to an attack with a more physical weapon, his snake sword. "Tch," was all the girl said as she dodged the attack by the snake sword, only to have it recoil at an energy-enhanced speed to attack her once again. Pulling out yet another dagger, the girl blocked the whip-like sword and then had it twist around her weapon, immobilizing it. Before the boy could overpower her, she then dug her dagger into the ground, using the strength of the earth to supplement her own weak strength. For several seconds, a silent tug of war ensued between Setsuna and her opponent until finally he gave in and released his snake sword for another weapon, a pair of kodachis.

Taking the opportunity, Setsuna quickly released the dagger from the ground and pulled back on it to bring the handle of the sword to her. Then, not bothering to untangle her dagger from it, the girl slashed at the kodachi-wielding boy with her new weapon as he charged forward. It was obvious she had none of the finesse that the boy had when he wielded it himself. However, that didn't mean she could swing it around and try to land a hit. Of course, the first try failed miserably and Setsuna was forced to either dodge or block. She chose the latter, blocking both blades with an arm, gritting her teeth through the pain as her eyes closed for what seemed to be the same reason.

Her opponent grinned triumphantly for a moment, only to have the happy expression be replaced with one of confusion and shock as a splatter of his blood found itself on Setsuna's face and body. The snake sword had recoiled back with enough force to impale the boy's back with the Recall skill. It was true that Setsuna did not specialize in wielding the snake sword; however, she did specialize in manipulating energy and as the skill didn't require any special Gene-X ability or any real experience with using the weapon, the girl had taught herself how to use it. With both eyes closed, the girl remained calm even with the blood splattered on her body. That was the true purpose for blinding herself.

Alright let's see here. I like the leveling up idea in order to attain bits of this talent a little bit at a time. I also think it would improve your character.

I think the General section is pretty much good. I'm fine with her only using half energy for most skills. But you'll definitely need to make up a weakness for it. Perhaps if your skill doesn't land a hit, it negates back to her and takes away the rest of the energy or something like that. Just a thought, I'll let you decide what you want to do with it Kage.

I think you could probably do simple void skills at C rank, but anything you think is op would probably need to be b or a.

I think for Chaos, since you want to actually dismantle the attack, you would need to put in the same amount of energy used for the attack. Or at least 75% The rest of it seems fine to me.

Of course this is a very long talent that you must have been thinking of for a while. So if Fen has anything to add, he can. But that is what I think.
PostPosted: Sun May 15, 2011 8:13 pm

Alright, will change 3nodding .

Hm, so giving her only 75% of the average energy amount isn't enough to make up for it sweatdrop ? Hm, give me a bit to think of a suitable weakness, then. If I can't think of anything better, I'll take up your suggestion but before that, I want to try at the least sweatdrop .

Wait, so are you saying that I can't have any void skill above A-rank or are you just giving me a scale of how to rank the skills I make?

I'm going to assume it's fine for the energy section to not have any drawbacks?

Hm.... How about I do something like what I did in Axiom and up it to 75% only in situations where the opponent would be especially good at using the attack. Like, maybe, for skills from the major style that are a rank or more below the target's rank? Or is that a no go as well sweatdrop ?

Lastly, I know this is slightly off-topic, but thank you very much for not just rejecting it right away as I was afraid that it would be sweatdrop .

EDIT- Ah, Neko, I just realized I made a big mistake gonk ! In the general section, I wrote, "after mastering all of her styles at sage rank, she is able to take up a third extra style," thinking that there were only 5 levels, meaning that the last extra style will be the third extra style. Sorry, just realized that there were actually 10 levels, so that would mean 6 extra styles in total >_< ! I'm not sure whether or not you thought that "third" meant that Setsuna could only learn a max of three extra styles (which it doesn't) but in case you did, I wanted to point that mistake out so you can tell me whether or not it's still acceptable sweatdrop .

Talent Name: Tuned Hearing

RPC Name: Sonya Layona
Level: N/A
Main Style: N/A
Talent Description: Her talent is quite simple she can tune out and tune into whatever sounds are around her at will. She does this by mentally blocking or paying attention to the sound waves that go into her ears. Her hearing basically works like a radio and she can choose what she hears and doesn't hear. Her pointed ears help with this and also help with allowing her to hear very high or very low pitched sounds with out pain or losing her hearing or being stunned or knocked out. What ever she hears she hears clearly.
Talent Weakness: She can get in trouble if she blocks someone out. Her hearing is like a normal person's when she is unconscious or asleep.
How did the character get this talent?: She was born with it along with her pointed ears.
Sample: Mask on? Check? Opponent? Check. Game plan? Not check. When do I ever plan? Sonya grinned from behind her mask. She was getting ready for a fight with someone from school and as usual was being an oddity of the world. And it was working. Her opponent was already freaking himself out. She narrowed her hearing so she would only hear with in a twenty foot radius. That was the bounds of the ring around them that they were fighting in.

Finally the signal to start rang out and she darted forward and aimed a kick for her opponents middle. The next few minutes were a blur of sound and color as they attacked, blocked, and cried out when they were hit. It was a confusing barrage that she was used to and she sorted out the sounds to the most important ones. Such as the direction the breeze or ruffle of clothing caused by her opponent' attacks or defenses was coming from so she could act accordingly.

Six minutes into the ten minute match she had her opponent pinned to the ground. He gave the signal that he gave and she got off him. She had one. Now who would be her next opponent...?

RPC Name : Maha
Level : 1
Main Style : None
Talent Description : Prestidigitation - Seemingly complex works of conjuration that are, in actuality, simply sleight-of-hand techniques. These allow Maha to produce objects that are small, and easy to fit in his hand - pencils, pens, lighters, etc. - with a flick of his wrist. ((I've sorta gotten away with doing it twice already, so I figured I should put it in to be legit)).
Talent Weakness : This talent is purely for showmanship - Maha has never trained with throwing weaponry, or weaponry of any kind really, and so can't use this ability with even a small knife or piece of sharp metal or glass. The only dangerous thing he may be able to produce is a lit cigarette or a billiard ball...and with the fighting prowess of most people in Ludus, that's more apt to prove a comic relief than a threat.
How did the character get this talent? : Years and years of practice. Maha once saw a magician perform when he was still very young, and saw him conjure about eight or nine pool balls from thin air while wearing gloves. Amazed by this, Maha made a promise to himself that he would one day become skilled enough in the art of prestidigitation to perform such wonderments. And so he did.
Sample : The room was dark, quiet, and deathly still, the only illumination being the moonlight streaming in from the window above. The silhouette of Maha stood in the light, his jade green eyes staring ahead as another figure made its way down the hall. It was a young man - about Maha's age, but not a listed student. With a flick of one hand, Maha produced a match, which was used to light the cigarette he produced in his other hand. After a brief pull on the tobacco, he exhaled smoke and stared at the young man across from him. "What've you got for me, Xaec?"
"Not much, mon ami. There's been no word from anyone about where he went."
"I see..."
"Look...I'm sorry, man. I know that was the plan, and I thought for sure he'd head this way..."
"It's no one's fault, Xaec. You get back home now, and let me handle it. If he is here, I'll find him. And if not, no harm can come from seeing what I can learn here."
"I almost forgot...here." The young man dug a small card from his pocket. "Got this from one of the boys in Millenion. They said they may be able to help. Name and a way to reach them's on there."
Maha's hand flicked lightly, and the card vanished from sight. "Let 'em know I got the message. Safe travels." With that, the young man slunk away into the shadows, and Maha exhaled another cloud of smoke, walking back towards his dormitory.

The sound blocking thing? I can actually answer that - and aye, it is possible. My buddy Eric can do it. He uses it to block out certain sections of songs or background noise so he can focus on just one section of sound in particular. It's impressive, but it's not exactly a super power or anything.

Now that Maddigan praises it that way, I think I can vouch a very tiny bit for him with my own experience. A lot of times, when I'm really bored and listening to a song, I'll practice isolating a part of the background. Although, I've never been close to doing it to the extent that Zelici is showing in her talent and the only reason I can do it in the first place is because I've been playing in a musical ensemble for the last four years. The noise of an entire, 100 person band doing whatever they want still overpowers the sound from an instrument right next to me (unless, of course, said instrument is playing some really high note as is usually the case). I'm certain that there are probably limits to this skill that Zelici's talents oversteps, but unless you want to find someone familiar with the physics of sound waves, you can't really tell neutral .

On the other hand, I'm somewhat certain that the part about the very high and low pitched sounds doesn't apply to any normal human. Of course, for all I know, there might be some people who can do that.

zelici: I agree with kage on this one in that while its impressive to ignore a sound or song, its another thing to completely disable your sense completely. So with that in mind I will accept your talent on one condition. If there is ever a sound-based main style, and I'm pretty sure there will be one very soon, your character HAS to choose it. That way the manipulation of sound with Ki will actually make more sense.

.....Okay. I was tired when I made it so okay. How long do I have to wait for a sound based music style? And it had better be good. I remember the bard one from Axiom and I didn't really like it much......... stare And just because I'm me I have to put this... This kills my plan. If I edit it then can I keep it? *puppy face*
