 Kif had found the perfect spot, and in just enough time to get ready for his first date! His first date with the most beautiful, sweet and wonderful vixen he had ever met... Shaking himself from his daydream he set to getting the area ready. It was just under the shade of a tree, there were a few clouds but otherwise it was a perfect day and just next to the lake. The grass was a bit long, but he solved that - flattening it by rolled around creating just enough space for some foxes to lounge comfortably.
He ran through the field and nearby forest a few times. half an hour later he stopped to admire the centerpiece he had created. Various berries, fruits and insects were arranged by color and size contained by an arrangement of leaves and flowers. It was perfect. Kif quickly groomed himself, having gotten messy from literally rolling and running around. Once he deemed himself presentable he sat, patiently yet eagerly awaiting his dream fox.

 Flora was going on her first date today, ans she was so nervous that she might do something that would embarrass her. What if she tripped, she didn't think that Kif would laugh at her but he might think that she was a klutz and want to cancel the date. Looking around nervously, she made sure that there were no little rocks that could trip her. Finally it looked like she was approaching the place that Kif had arranged for her to meet him at. She couldn't be so sure though, having never actually been here before.
"Kif!" She called off softly as she moved toward the tree. "Mm." Flora paused, it looked like someone had flattened the grass. Giggling she looked around and thought it was the cutest thing. Would Kif have been the one to do this? "Kif? Are you here?" Continuing to look around she didn't notice a twig and accidentally tripped over it, making her fall ungracefully onto her behind. "Mm..." She pouted, "I knew this was going to happen."

When the beautiful Flora arrived he was so overcome with shyness he didn't move. This was a problem for Kif because he had a tendency to blend in with the grass. Sure enough Flora didn't see him at all, it wasn't until she called his name a second time that he snapped out of it... just in time to see her trip and fall.
Kif rushed over quickly, "Flora! Are you okay?" He ran around her quickly checking for injuries - his panic at having caused her to fall making him forget that it would take much more than that to hurt anyone. "I'm so sorry, I should have cleared that away, I'm so sorry!" He kicked himself mentally, this date was supposed to be perfect and he had already ruined it by not clearing a dumb stick.
It took him a moment to realize that he was standing very close to her and their noses were almost touching. Kif instantly froze, eyes wide.

Blushing fiercely she looked up at the handsome Kif. Of course now he choose the time to pop out of the grass and surprise her. She was so embarrassed she just wanted to crawl into a little ball and hide from the world until her face was no longer beat red. "I.....I'm....fine....." She whispered meekly, hiding her face in her paws so that he would not be able to see the blush on her cheeks.
"What?" She peeked out from behind her paws, "It wasn't your fault...You didn't put the twig there silly." Flora smiled at him, "So I don't know why you are apologizing? It is just....so...." She looked at him and noticed how close they were together, and it brought the blush right back to her cheeks. She didn't think it was intentional, but it was stirring the butterflies in her stomach and was making her nervously lick her lips.
"Kif?" She whispered as she gnawed on her lower lip.

Kif's state of shock was interrupted when Flora said his name. He blinked several times, shook his head and muttered a few "um's" and "uh's" while moving back to a more polite distance. He kicked himself mentally for making such a fool of himself. The date hadn't even started yet and already his carelessness caused her to trip and now she was uncomfortable because he was too concerned to notice that personal space was being invaded.
He needed to salvage this. Somehow.
"Er, well no, I didn't put it there... but I should have moved it. So... I'm sorry about that?" He sounded lame. His ears drooped slightly but he managed to keep a bashful smile on his face. Kif gestured quickly to the centerpiece with foods he had prepared, desperate to change the subject and focus away from his incompetency, "Would you like to eat? I didn't know what you liked so I tried to get a bit of everything."

"Oh...." She gasped as she looked at all the food on the table, "You did all this for me?" Flora blushed maidenly as she looked at him, "That is...the sweetest thing that anyone has ever done for me....th....thank you so much..." She licked his cheek affectionately then walked over and looked at it all. Everything looked so delicious that she didn't know what she wanted to try first. "Um...maybe a berry firs..." She leaned down and sucked one into her mouth and chewed. "Mm!" She looked at him as she swallowed, "It is so sweet..." She beamed and went to eating more.
"Everything is so delicious Kif...." Flora giggled as he tail started to wag incessantly.
