He rattled the door handle to no end, they had already left minutes ago with their laughter and their mockery. He cursed the closet door in their absence and pondered, not for the first time just swapping to uniform to get out. He had places to go, things to do... homework, tasks, lieutenants, books and... -that- to get to.
And he was locked in a closet... again. Some days it felt like half his life was spent in a closet, either metaphorical or real.. actually if you added them both up he was probably one of the King's of Narnia and just didn't have time to pay mind to it.
He kicked the door hard and swore at that instead hopping and grabbing at his foot. Stupid to do that when he was wearing soft toed sneakers. He leaned his head against the door and finally called through the door as loud as he could.
"HEY! CAN ANYONE HEAR ME? CAN SOMEONE LET ME OUT PLEASE?!"
at least he'd gotten a little better at wearing off the sharpest edges of his temper since the early days of Hillworth, though no one who met him recently would have ever guessed at that.

Fingers trailed along the doors in the hallway, golden eyes peering into the narrow windows of classrooms of Hillworth Academy. There wasn't really any excuse for her to be there as there supposedly had been in the past. Coming onto campus, Daphne had been very sure that she'd had some reason to excuse the business she'd had here before. But what both the business and the excuse was she could never be sure.
At least there was one good memory made with Elzo. They'd been simply friends then though he'd never resisted a good moment of teasing a girl. One more memory was that of throwing up behind the gym as a Lieutenant but...it made no real sense.
Fragments of memories and struggling remembrances were halted by the sound of muffled yelling and a pounding on a door that did not have a window. A chair was pushed up against the door so that the knob couldn't be turned and the door pushed out. Oh dear.
Biting her lip, Daphne didn't even think. She simply pulled the chair away and yanked the door open.

Not the best time to have been trying to shoulder open the door, one second he felt the door brush his shoulder, the next...
He was heading floor ward because there was no door, there was only open air, he stumbled and tried to catch himself, crashed off the far wall and slid to his rather embarrassed posterior.
"...ow..." he said half startled more than truly hurt... fortunately he'd been getting a lot of practice in trying to minimize injuries, at least blunt force ones. "Uh..." He blinked up at sapphire hair and Honey Amber eyes, so much like, yet so different from... "I um... Th-thank you! I um... thanks...thank you."

Oh. She probably should have considered the fact that the person inside had been wanting to get out and warned him. As it was there was a horrible moment of deja vu as Daphne held out a hand to the kid on the ground and helped him up. He didn't have far to go. The silvery-blue haired young man was shorter than even the petite Daphne and looked at least twice as disgruntled as she would have expected.
"Sorry about that. I didn't think that you'd be pushing against it, I just was like ohmigawd gotta get them out!" Teeth worried at her bottom lip and fingers tangled in messy blue curls before her left hand was extended again. "Hi. Daphne Xanis. Were you looking for Narnia and the door shut behind you? Or was that the Neverending Story? I can't keep 'em straight." And hadn't even really tried.
Reading had never been her strong suit after all!

He tucked his hair behind one ear after she helped him to his feet, and it stayed for all of a few seconds before falling back in front of his face as he cast his gaze downward. "N...Narnia would be the right reference... Actually I was just... well they..." He waved a hand after the last direction he had heard laughter.
"... It's nothing new..." he finished, deciding it wasn't worth trying to explain WHY he'd been stuffed into a closet. "I'm... Zac..." he offered her a hand embarrassed. "Thanks... I, I really appreciate the hand out."

Her head titled a bit like the owls she was so very fond of to regard Zac and wonder why this all felt very familiar. Daphne couldn't have said what sent her down this corridor in particular, was it her knight instincts? Damsel in distress? The idea had her grinning wider than her usual cheerful smile a in a moment of snap-decision she slung an arm around his shoulder and started walking.
"We should go find your buddies and toss them in a closet. I bet they'd never see it coming and I'm scrappy! Have to be, a girl alone in this awful place." There was a comical leer and a roll of eyes before she giggled. "It's a thought anyway. How long have you gone here? Do they always use the same closet?" The idea was somewhat intriguing.

"N...nnnot always just when it's the closest, If I'm lucky I avoid them all together but I uh..." He looked a bit like a caged animal with the arm around his shoulders. This all seemed so...
Well except for the offer to stuff THEM in a closet...that was different. "Their just...small minded, they think fighting solves everything rather than using their heads."

Noting the discomfort and tucking that information away inside of her head, Daphne left her arm there for another moment before letting it drop away and tucking hands inside of her pockets. It was easy to think that people were all okay with casual contact when surrounded by people like Jada, Elzo, and Vicky. But not everyone was and she forgot that now that everyone was a stranger.
It was somewhat depressing and a bit of the light went out of her brandy-colored eyes. "Fighting doesn't solve anything. It just makes you feel a bit stronger and gives you confidence to keep moving through your insignificant life. If you have a brain you'll at least make something out of yourself." It was an odd sort of agreement, but one nonetheless. "So they're jealous of your brain?" Daphne peered down at Zac and considered.
"No chance you're any good at math, huh?"

"...Fair enough that I'm passing without too much trouble... I play chess things like that... " He blinked at her curious. "I'm no prodigy I mean but..."
He tilted his head studying her in return. "You are? You must care about it a great deal to ask about it that way.... probably better than me..."
