Rykier has always been a target of bullying within his herd/flock. He always had to ask, "Why me?" Why him out of everyone? Was it because he had different blood, that his mother was a unicorn and not a horse? Was it because he appeared different when compared to the rest of them? It didn't matter in the end. The teasing, name calling, tricks, beatings, he withstood them all, and always tried to brush it off and continue on, but the scars always remained whether they were physical or emotional.
All the teasing within his herd left Rykier bitter and angry.Eventually it pushed him to go in to solitude. No longer would he try to make sense of it all. No longer would he deal with the world and all its moronic ways. Instead he would lock himself within his room and within his own little world. He didn't need them. He didn't need anybody. Everything he needed he could find there...
Years of solitude has left him silent and introverted. He has gotten used to the sound of silence and his own general company, so much so he no longer really knows how to deal with people outside his own family. He no longer knows how to keep up a general conversation. That's all just fine and dandy though because Rykier isn't the friendliest person in the world. Bluntness, sarcasm, a cold yet explosive attitude, general impatience, there isn't a whole lot of positive characteristics to the guy. Still, he can't help but envy others, even those who taunted him as a child. While he has learned to prefer his own company and detest others there is no denying the yearning for company.
It can be said that his blunt attitude derives from his days of being bullied. His general belief in this is that there is no good reason to try and lie to someone, to sugar coat or twist the truth about something. When they find out that truth they will hurt worse than they would if the truth had been told in the first place. Everyone needs to know the truth, because they need to learn how to deal with it. There is no escaping it. There is no denying it. Just learn to deal with it and move on. It's a weird belief for one whom doesn't really follow the rule himself.
Rykier will tolerate those outside his family, but only to a point. Being detached for so long he finds that he has grown fairly impatient and annoyed towards the simplest of things, especially when it comes to someone trying to be friendly with him. He doesn't want friendly for the sake of being friendly. He finds it's not only a waste of his time, but theirs. Plus, being friendly means playing 50 questions at times, and also having to deal with a fake attitude. He doesn't want to answer 50 stupid and meaningless questions, especially when the other person will blow it off once they know they no longer have to play nice with him. Why can't they take the hint in his voice and short answers? He doesn't want to hear all those fact sounds of interest. Really at this point he wants to scream in their face and slap them, but he can't, and that makes him sad. He can always imagine it though...
If you really want to catch the guy's attention though then play the game of sarcasm. It's one thing for him to insult and make a point to someone whom is dim witted or someone whom will just glare and walk way, it's another to find someone whom is willing to play his game and jump in to battle. If there is anything Rykier likes it is someone with a brain and some wit to them whom knows how to keep a sharp tongue about them. Yes, at first he may get annoyed and frustrated about it, but eventually his pride will build up and he won't want to back down from the game of words. What's more fun than a little game of insult to injury on a friendly basis? Nothing. At least for him anyway.
Forever Lonely...: Even though Rykier keeps to his preference of being to himself, and no longer has much will to make friends he still finds that part of him finds some sort of warmth and comfort when he is surrounded by others, at least as long as people leave him alone. This way he can still keep to himself, while still feeling like he is "normal", like he is still a part of society. Is this because he isn't totally detached from the world? Maybe it's because while he still hold bitterness and anger, he also holds jealousy and envy. Or it could just be because he realizes that part of him is still lonely and wants the company of others, but he just isn't willing to put himself out there.
Hoarding...: Hoarding or collecting? Who knows. Just note that Rykier has made a habit of collecting books, silver, nail files, feathers, and black buttons. He hates the clear type. :C
Get lost in the words…: From one page tales to the thickest text books that he can find, Rykier is a lover of tales and worldly information. He enjoys diving in to the imagination and worlds that other people create. To just get a glimpse of all the things that one’s mind can make up fascinates him and makes him question, even in this world that is thought to be nothing but tales to the humans, what is true and false of the people of Halloween town and beyond? This world is already bizarre and out there, so he can’t imagine something taking it to the next level.
Then comes and information harbored in the text books. Magic, science, dictionaries on different species, math, he’ll read them all and learn what he can. However they don’t all stick like they should. Yes, he’ll end up reading the entire book if it interests him enough, but most of the time it goes in one ear, stays a day or two, then it leaves. If he has no use for it, then there is no reason for it to stick, especially with things like magic and spells. Being a species deprived of any magical ability beyond taking a human-like form, there is nothing for him there.
All in all, Rykier finds that he enjoys the company of words and leather bound covers because he find acceptance and comfort in the world he gets lost in. Most of the time the words don’t cause harm, they don’t hurt him, they don’t lie to him or judge him. They take him to other places and give him an escape. They busy his mind so he doesn’t have to accept his reality. They are his friends.
Why are they enrolled in Amityville Academy? Rykier isn’t going of his own choice, but rather his parents are pushing him to go, and they are more than willing to drag him along as he kicks, screams and cusses up a storm.
With his social problems and hot temper, their son has basically dug his own grave in their town, and he is more than happy to lie in it. They however won’t have it. He still has much to learn about the world and who he is as a person and a species, and they know he won’t actually gain anything by just reading about it and hearing tales. He needs to actually get out there and experience it all for himself rather than sit around at home doing pretty much nothing with himself besides getting in to fights with the other kids. [You really think his parents would actually let him lock himself away 24/7. The boy needs to get kicked out of the house every now and then.]
They can only hope sending him to Amityville can help him make a change for the better.
Well that and hopefully he won’t get kicked out…
FEAR:
Year one:
Eagle's call- Rai emits a shriek that imitates the sound of thunder. The call his a 50% chance of either stunning or temporarily deafening his opponent. Seeing as he doesn't have full control of his fear yet, the call also has a chance of stunning/deafening him as well.

Weakness:
Being a first year FEAR it only lasts for about a minute. If he's lucky it could last longer, but won't be past two minutes.
The FEAR will not work if the opponent is underwater, has no ears, or is deaf.
The FEAR will be weakened if the opponent has something in their ears like plugs, ear phones, ect.
The FEAR can be weakened, or stopped is Rai is unable to give a full call, or unable to give one at all. Ex: Someone is choking him. Emission of smoke. Coughing fit. Ect
Advancement:
Eventually Rai's FEAR will develop in to a more offensive move with the addition of his call being able to summon a few strikes of lightning. This will develop out later when the time comes. For now it is a lose idea of where I want to go with his FEAR.
Natural Ability: Shape Shifting- Rykier can shift between his human form and his true form of a hippogriff.
A hippogriff is usually a creature created between the mating of a griffin and a horse, or in Rykier’s case a unicorn of all things. So while he still holds the typical appearance of a hippogriff; head and talons of an eagle and the backside of a horse; he does not have the tail of a horse, but instead the lion like tail of some unicorns.
In this form his fur and feathers are pure white, with the exception of the tips of his wing feathers gradient in to pink, as does the tip of his tail. His front eagle legs, beak, hooves and talons are scaled in light gray.
The whites of his eyes are colored black while his irises glow an icy blue.
Physical Description:
Eye Colour: Ice blue.
Hair Colour/Style: A messy mohawkish style similar to the links given. His hair should be a light blond with streaks of light pink. Sometimes he likes to put one or two feathers in his hair. :: X:: X :: Blond shade :: Shade of pink
Skin Colour: Lightly tanned
Clothing Style/Colours:
Rykier usually dresses in dressy casual type clothing colored in reds, blues, black, white, gold, and silver. Not all together of course [He would never wear blue and red together. No. :C] just whatever blends well and looks nice.
He wears an outfit like that shown in this ref. Colors are CC.
Other notes: In his human form he usually has black claw like nails and still keeps his tail. Whether or not his wings show is up to the artist.

Part 1: The Basics
1. What is your full name?
Rykier Ezhno Taran Vaniclain
2. Where and when were you born?
Let's see. Hm, in a town of other hippogriffs, known as my "flock", about 16 or so years ago. That sounds about right.
3. Who are/were your parents?
My father is Adelio Vanicalin. He is a “nobleman” and shop keeper. We aren’t too close, at least not as close as some would think father and son would be. At one point and time he has always supportive and caring of me, but these days he’s a bit brash about my anti-social behavior and lack of motivation to do anything with my time.
My mother is Celia Vanicalin. She is a homemaker and helps my father in the family shop. If you want to know more about her, then go meet her yourself. What do I look like, he biographer?
4. Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like?
I have 2 little twin sisters, and 3 elder half-brothers.
If you want to get to know them, then go meet them for yourself. I'm not telling you a damn thing, you lazy a**! I'm not their keepers. I don't record their every move and their every personality trait! Get off your a** and go find them!
5. Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people.
I live with my family, in a house, in a forest. What more do you really need to know? Do I need to describe it like some sort of fairytale opening, or an overly detailed book? Go look at map.
6. What is your occupation?
I am the resident laughing stock and hermit. I’m quite good at it…

I’m 5’11, and 150lbs. I am a Hippogriff, but not your average one. My mother just so happens to be a unicorn instead of your average horse, which makes me stand out in my flock. My hair is blond with pink streaks, and my eyes are ice blue. I know, girly hair, well you can go shove it up yours.
My style of clothing is a mix of average and dress wear. I don’t really have any distinguishing markings or anything, but I do have a tail and wings, is that distinguishable enough for ya’ you nosy little pest?

Yeah, all happen to fall under the category of you, and your need to chatter. I can feel myself dying as each second passes. It really is a slow and painful death.

I remember it was an innocent time. It was a time before my differences from the other flock members were pointed out, and before I chose to go in to hiding. Yes, they were times were I was actually happy. They were times before I met you…

Besides general education, and lessons from my parents, I have been self-taught most of my life.

I enjoy being self-taught. There are less problems and annoyances.

My parents, books, messing around.

At one point and time, before he turned in to a giant a** towards me, my father.

I would say separating myself from society. I get a lot more done, with a lot less stress.

I don’t pay much to politics at this point.

I haven’t be angry about to kill yet, so I can’t say. I suppose if I need to, then I will.

Try to erase out existence. In a way we need them, and in another they need us. It’s all about balance.

I enjoy the art of battling words, but a fist fight it nice every now and again.

Look, I rarely leave my house. Where the hell did this "adventurer" crap come from? My parents have to literally DRAG me out of the house just to pick up something from the store. Do you know how long it took them to get me to agree to come this school? ADVENTURE MY EVENLY TANNED AND TONED a**!

Rykier, I know you hate most of society and find others intolerable most of the time, but at some point you need to listen to that little piece of yourself, that piece that wants to be a part of the world once more. You need at least find someone you can tolerate for the most part and make a friend. Take a leap and give the world a second chance for once.

A gift that was given to Rykier by his brother Donovan, Antal is the young Hippogriff's closest, and most trusted, companions. The Woedog has been with Rykier though all his ups, and is many many downs. He is the teen's main source of comfort, and is very protective of his owner.

Hellooooooo ~ <3 Like I said before, I'm not in the position to "criticize" anyone, but I do have some comments for your lovely boy. I really like his personality and how you described it! Reading that section made me want to grapple Rai in a bear hug, tie him down, and force him to play 50 questions with me. Only, I'd change it to 100 questions so he could learn juuuuuust how awesome the game is. -shot- I'm always a fan of characters whose back stories explain their behavior. Rai totally fits that bill. Everything about him is cohesive, straightforward, and, best of all, I can tell where it's coming from. My normal concern with shy or introverted characters is that they don't really interact well with others and are sometimes hard to RP, but this guy here has enough of an attitude that I seriously doubt that'll be a problem.
As I'm writing this, I keep trying to think of something to tell you to improve, but it's kind of difficult. xD; Maybe be careful to not make him emo? He has a lot of negative behavior traits which I myself adore... Some people, though, are put off by that sort of thing.

In my mind while he comes off as "emo", in truth he is just a grumpy b*****d with a lot of inward and social problems.
I think once he arrives at the school and finds most of the time he has no choice but to be around others, it will tick him off a lot at first, but he will slowly start to settle down, especially if he finds that once comfort person.

Haha, the pink in his hair, fur and feathers, is actually all natural, so he had no say in that. XD
He hates it, but lives with it either way.
When it comes to clothes, well, whatever looks good on him, you know? He isn't going to complain about that.
Room wise, it's actually a joke played on him by the two youngest of his three older brothers. >w>

Personality: He seem a little harsh very no nonsense type of person but that can happen. Does he see everyone as only pretending to be nice?
Black buttons but not clear ones pffft that is cute.
I am wondering how he will react in a large group.

Haaa... That has to give a wicked ringing.
I wonder if something that sounds like thunder wouldn't be able to shock a deaf person. As like a feeling of fear or confusion washing over them.

Not every single person, no. If someone were to approach him and try to make small talk, or were to attempt to do something nice for him he would be skeptical of them. Whether he expresses his skepticism or not, well that depends on the person and his mood.
Yes, he discriminates against the clear buttons. :C
Death to them all for all he cares. I have no idea why he has such hatred against them, he just does. XD
He'd probably flip out if someone sent him a package of them.
When it comes to large groups, while he might not come right out and show his discomfort, yes, he is uncomfortable with large groups of people. While being in these groups make him feel a little more "normal" it comes at a price, which is his discomfort and feeling like a black sheep in a white flock at certain times.
He would most likely just sit off to the side and try to be as invisible as possible until he can leave.
FEAR: I suppose that depends on his close the person is to Rykier when he uses his fear. It is really a flip of a coin. It most likely just confuses and stuns the opponent 99.9% of the time.
I think the only way it can really deafen another person is if they are close to him, or if he is screaming right in their ear.
