Atiya lazed alongside a creek one warm afternoon, just thinking. Thinking about how quiet life was. How she could use a fresh purpose. These days, all there was seemed to be her, and she wanted to be useful for something. She longed for someone to need her help.

Or, sometimes, just for someone to be there. Living without a herd might be less stressful, but it was also more lonely. She chewed absently on what was in front of her, not even really paying attention to what it was.

Demo the squirrel played nearby, but he was basically self-sufficient. He still missed his family, but he hadn't been away from them as long. Occasionally Atiya could get a cuddle out of him, but he wasn't interested today. She sighed.

Today was a gorgeous day and the perfect type to spend wandering about in his free time. Ironforge was once more busy with herd business leaving the rainbow stallion to his own devices. More time to expand his knowledge of the area he lived and worked in. He couldn't just stay in one place and waste his free time waiting about. No he needed to explore, learn, grow and meet others. Over the course of the last few weeks he had met plenty of new faces, some pleasant and some not so much, but that was the way of life. Not everything was perfect, nor was everybody. That was another reason he pushed so hard to acquire his training, so that he could help those in need and attempt to correct the wrongs done by others.

Trotting along a small creek Kaleidoscope was deep in thought and didn't see the mare laying on the other side of the creek until he had nearly reached her. Slowing his pace down Kale looked over towards her. "Good afternoon." He said to her with small smile and a dip of his head. "I hope I am not intruding." Bringing his hooves to a stop he glanced over at the squirrel not far away, it's black and white standing out among the green of the grass and then back to the mare.

Atiya jumped a little as her thoughts were interrupted. "Whoa, you startled me!" but she was smiling. A few seconds later, she recovered her composure, standing to greet her new aquaintance. "Good afternoon to you too! What brings you here?" she inquired good-naturedly. Woo-hoo! Someone to talk to at last!

Demo dropped what he was doing and watched. As useless as he could be in a fight, he sure tried hard, and would keep an eye on things.

Kaleidoscope smiled a bit. "Forgive me for sneaking up on you like that. It was not my intention." He dipped his head in greeting to her once more now that he had her attention. "Well, I was passing through the area, exploring the sights. Do you live around here?" He asked, wondering if she was a local or a traveler like himself. If she was a local perhaps she would tell him of anything of interest in the area and if not, well he was never opposed to conversing with a friendly stranger.

"Ah, allow me to introduce myself. I am Kaleidoscope." His eyes fell upon the black and white squirrel for a moment, it must be a friend of the mares, and then returned to her. "And what might your name be?"
