{Private RP between Sonja(Angelique DelaMort) & Zosime(magnadearel)} Sonja trotted along happily, her tail swishing behind her as she leaped, jumped, and occasionally fumbled her balance while she made her way through the woods and out onto the open plain. It was her first visit to these wide open lands, after all, and compared to the deep green woods and the bubbly swamp they seemed relatively safe and, honestly, where's the fun in that? But she was here, off on her own again which naturally led to boredom and now, she was looking for something fun to do.
However, there seemed to be a serious deficit of fun in this area. Just a lot of tall, wavy grass and a few burrows that small animals lived in...and twisting her hoof wasn't her idea of fun.

Zosime walked with her head slightly hanging. It hadn't been long since her herd broke apart and she returned to her wandering ways. It's failure had been a hard blow to her heart. As it was, she was grateful for the company of the crazy, arrogant, proud, and sadistic bird Kalril.
She hadn't encountered anyone since leaving the herd lands. Even walking as she had been. Zo paused to take a look around. Not knowing the area had its disadvantages for her. Consulting her stomach, she decided a hunt was in order. Tucking her wings close the mare stepped carefully listening for sounds of prey. Indeed, Zo thought she heard something, and it wasn't small. Curiously she went for a closer look.

"Ow!!!" Sonja yelped leaping back from a hole and sporting a particularly nasty sprain on her front hoof. "That's the Fifth One in the last half hour!" she muttered through clenched teeth, half hopping on her good legs. "No wonder why I never came out here before. This is worse than the swamp. At least the swamp gases are noxious enough to know where they are..."

Zo heard the yelp and saw a mare, black and red as herself, come into view. Not only was she large, but a soquili; Zo couldn't hunt her. The chance for a meal was ruined with all that noise. She let her head feathers and head pop out of hiding. For a moment she watched the other mare and listened.
"If you have wings, why not just fly out of here? Then you wont risk hurting yourself. Do swamps really have gasses?" It sounded far fetched to Zo.

"That would be way too easy and I wouldn't learn anything," Sonja replied turning to greet the owner of the voice. "And yes, they even burst into flames sometimes!" She grinned at the other in her friendly, easy manner, "I'm Sonja, who are you?"

"You would learn not to walk here anymore." Zo wasn't sure how twisting an ankle comprised learning anything. It sounded more painful than it should be. Perhaps she was dense headed then.
Her head feathers dipped in doubt. That made no sense either. Gasses just didn't burst into flames. They breathed the air. It had never burst into flames. That would be so bad, trying to breath and have that happen.
"You're not pulling my tail are you?" She eyed the other mare with a slight frown. Zo eeled out of her hiding spot to come a little closer. "You're not afraid of me? My name's Zosime."

"You might have a point there...and pull your tail?" Sonja shook her head. "Wouldn't dream of it." The alicon observed the brilliant feathers on this new companion and noted, "That's an impressive plume. Um, Zosime, why should I be afraid of you? I mean, you're not snapping at me, or attacking me, and you did have a pretty good chance back there when I was hopping around on three legs..."

Zo nodded, "an injury is a very painful way to learn something." She didn't think the other mare would have any reason to lie about firery gasses. Zo had no proof one way or the other; for now it would be safe to believe her. She puffed up her feathers in full display, pleased the other had noticed them.
"Some have been afraid of me before. I look so different than you." Zo tilted her head to the side. "I wouldn't attack you. You're too big for me. It's not that I can't hunt big stuff," she added quickly. "I only allow myself small game."

Sonja's fiery red tail swished over the high grass. "I look different from most others, at least," she added with a grin. "I haven't seen anyone that looks like me. Honestly if I saw someone that looked just like me it would be way scarier than seeing someone who looked different. Most everyone I've met has looked different, all in their own ways." As an afterthought she looked up with interest, "You hunt?"

Zo twitched her ears and gave a critical eye over the other mare. She was a beautiful black and red coloration. There was the sharp looking horn and crimson wings. She smiled noticing the sticks in her hair.
"I don't really think so, but I really haven't met a lot of others." She ducked her head slightly. How many differences could there be? Zo thought that would be something to look foward to. "I've seen others with four wings instead of two, and another with a horn. His isn't like yours."
Zo giggled that Sonja would be more scared to see someone like herself. "I like those sticks in your hair." She didn't think they'd sit quite as well in her feathers. "Mmmm yes I do. Does that bother you?"

"Thank you," she beamed at the compliment, though, she noted she hadn't met some of these unique soquili Zosime had talked about. Obviously she and Aydan were going to have to do some more exploring.
But, back to the current conversation! "No," Sonja replied. "Your hunting interests me. How do you do it?" she added with a wry grin, "And perhaps I should asked 'What' do you hunt?"

"Your welcome." Her feathers wiggled slightly. "So what are you doing out here? Besides trying to step in a hole?" Zo laughed softly. She didn't want to admit it, but her spirits were rising slightly.
"Well I'm glad it doesn't scare you." Her head tilted as she tried to think of how she hunted. "I guess carefully. I don't want anything to know I'm there. So I have to move quietly."
"Nothing big; only small animals. Kalril helps me hunt." Her tail wiggled slightly side to side.

"Who?" Sonja asked tilting her head looking around for another soquili. "And how do you move quietly?" she whispered curiously. "Especially out here, all the grass crunches and moves with every step..and there's the holes..."

Her feathers bobbed up and down as she laughed. "You wont see him." Zo pointed her nose upward. "He's way up there somewhere. Kalril is a hawk. Would you like to meet him if I could get him to come down?" She tossed her head.
"I move slowly and keep track of where I'm putting everything. I practised a lot when I was a kid. Certainly easier when I was smaller." She laughed. "I try to move between it instead of on it. Always testing my footing before I put weight on it."

"Sure!" Sonja said eagerly. "And that sounds really hard," she added considering the effort of testing each hoof fall. Though she had to admit, it probably would have helped her a little while ago. "Don't you worry what you're hunting will get away because you're moving so slowly?"
