Name Iyokou Arata
Gender Male
Age 19
Species Human
Occupation Ribbon Dancer/Acrobat for Cirque du Noire... if that's alright.
Appearance Pale, average height (about 5'9"), has long hair, dyed purple with bright green streaks. Generally wears his hair in a ponytail that hangs over his shoulders. Thin and toned from training for acrobatics. Often wears a green mask with an "x" over it because of his immune system (it's just a decorative surgeon mask), long black gloves, a sort of half leotard top, black pants and long, flexible black boots. Has purple eyes with one eye patch over his left eye to cover a scar on it that he got when he was little - he fell while practicing outside and landed on some rocks. Smart, right?
Picture Sloppy Image ReferencePersonality Iyokou was always a bit of a shut in. He was born with a not so good immune system, so he ended up being home schooled and never really interacted with other people because of this. He also developed a bit of a distance with people as well because of this, and is quite shy. When you get to know him, Iyokou is a kind person, although a bit naive.
Abilities He's very flexible, and took private gymnastic and acrobatic classes for most of his life.
Weaknesses While he is healthy and fit for acrobatics, Iyokou gets sick easily and generally has to wear a mask around other people so as not to catch the brunt of germs.
Backstory Iyokou was born in a small cottage just off of Zen Gardens that had been protected by Null shards to ward off animated. He was born a weak child, but his parents did their best to care for him, sending him to Barton Town to go to school for his early years of Pre-K to 4th grade, although he had to wear a mask to keep the oh-so harmful germs away from his weak immune system. His parents also saw he loved to do gymnastics when he was well and enrolled him in several private classes when he was 5, although while he was trying out his round-offs, he slipped and landed on some rocks, causing a wound that later sported a scar that he covered up. Luckily, it didn't damage his sight. However, when Iyokou was 10 years old, his mother became extremely ill from a little known plant she consumed in Zen Gardens that she thought was benign. She was rushed to the hospital, but she only survived for 3 days.
Iyokou was torn at the loss of his mother, and went into a depressive slump, which worsened his already weak system and he often missed school and gymnastics classes. His father then decided to home-school him, as he was once a teacher before moving on to a different career to get more money for support. Iyokou was home schooled until he was 15. By that time, Iyokou's depression had gotten better and his immune system, although still weak, had improved little by little, so his father decided to send him to high school and enroll him in a few gymnastics and acrobatics classes as well. Yet, while the Gym and Acrobatics were going spectacularly, high school was not. Iyokou, who had decided he didn't need a mask anymore (stupid), ended up catching pretty much every illness kids catch and at one point had to be hospitalized because of this. After that fiasco was over, he tried going to school with his mask on, but was ridiculed for his strange hermit like behavior and dress choices. This caused Iyokou to start fearing and avoiding other people even more, and soon he simply had to return to being home schooled for the rest of his years.
All was not horrible though. When Iyokou turned 17, he graduated early and went to a small private college that offered him to major in acrobatics/performing arts, so he decided to go. Iyokou spent the next 2 years working in a specialized school for acrobatics such as Ribbon Dancing in France to get professional training which was short as it was his passion, and he was as they call, a "Natural". Iyokou never had a formal college education, as he devoted his time to the performing arts with some small educational classes thrown in. Things were going better, especially since most people didn't mock his choice of clothing or mask, and ended up making quite a few friends in the performing arts business. Soon enough, he was able to get various jobs in circuses and became slightly famous for his talent and strange attire choice. He sent most of his money back home to his father, who he stayed nearby to visit.
Yet, when he was 19, Iyokou lost his father, who had been ill for awhile, and finally left the world. He was saddened, but had learned to move on from when he was a child, and decided to go far away, as if to escape the sadness that was where his father once was. That was when Iyokou found Cirque du Noire.
