The sun had just peered over the horizon when Roman’s icy blue eyes opened to a sight he had seen so many times before. Without much motivation behind his movements Roman brought himself to all fours and walked to the stream he had taken note of before settling in this particular thicket of trees. Dipping his head he touched his lips to the water and allowed the icy liquid to flow down his throat, piercing his organs and causing his head to hurt. None of this seemed to faze him as he finished his morning drink and turned away from the water. His hooves had once again begun to burn and itch with the craving to keep moving and to not remain in one place for too long. Without any thought about the direction in which he was headed he satiated his hooves yearning by just walking. In all of Roman’s short life he had never remained in one spot for more than a day. His hooves would never let him and before that his father would never allow it either. He had been traveling since the day he was old enough to walk far distances without growing too weak. With a snort and a toss of the head he cleared all thoughts of his past and continued weaving his way through the trees.

When the sun had fully made an appearance in the sky and the day was beginning to warm Roman broke free of the trees and ended up at the shore of a large lake. His hooves had stopped burning for a short period of time so he walked to the water’s edge and submerged them. A little cloud of dust kicked up in the water around his hooves and he watched as it was swept further out into the deeper part of the lake. For whatever reason he felt as though he could relate to the tiny dirt particles, he too was being dragged into something deep and mysterious.

User ImageWith the sun barely peeking over the horizon bringing the soft and pretty colors of dawn reflected over the morning sky, a mare was still snoozing near the edge of the forest to stay hidden out of plain view and if anything did attack her, the availability of the clearing for her to spring through rather than trying to sprint through rugged terrain. Slowly as the sun continued to rise over the horizon, the mare slowly roused to consciousness. Her eyes were bleary and half-open, sleepiness still apparent in her eyes. Her hair was mussed in the worst way possible with leaves and a twig imbedded in brown-creme mane. Stretching her limbs out, the mare decided to start her day despite how early it still was for her.

The mare rose from her makeshift bed for the night and walked towards the lake that was close to the forest. She needed a drink of water before she would forge for some breakfast. Her stomach was growling at her already to feed it. The mare scanned the area and saw a stallion at an edge of the lake. A brow hiked up at the stallion as she made her way to the water, but not too close to the stallion unsure what he was doing. One of her ears flicked towards him curious to see what he was doing as she bent over to drink from the lake.

The sound of steps behind him caused Roman’s ears to flick back and his head to turn. Upon noticing it was nothing more than a mare he lowered his muzzle to the surface of the water and began to drink. When she drew nearer he kept his muzzle lowered and continued to drink, hoping she wouldn’t begin speaking to him. Though he wouldn’t ignore her if she did say something he somewhat desired nothing more than silence. Often times when speaking with others he found himself in the middle of some type of confrontation or debate about different beliefs. He found it easiest to just walk away when things got too tough for it was a much easier solution than to stick around and hear the person out. Turning ones back was much easier than meeting the collision head on. Occasionally he would glance at the mare from the corner of his eye, taking in her appearance and monitoring her actions. He was half tempted to turn and leave in that instant but she hadn’t bothered him yet so there really was no reason for him to move on as of yet. His mind flitted for an instant to a time when he and his father had been speaking and Roman had just walked away because he didn’t wish to confront him. It wasn’t as though he was scared but he just didn’t want to put up a fight if he didn’t have to. He had walked away from a few others in his time here for they had bothered him to the point of irritation and he just didn’t want to deal with it any longer. His conversation with Athela had only lasted because he knew if he had attempted to walk away, which he had, she would merely follow him. Sometimes one just couldn’t walk away, sometimes others were just too persistent but that didn’t keep him from wishing to leave.
