Jayoku sat in the D-corp building her newly aquired son Chath sat beside her fidgeting. She felt a bit bewildered her recount of the days earlier event still boucning around in her mind. She looked over to Chath who promptly looked away from her gaze. Needless to say their first meeting hadn't been a positive one.
He looked about two-three years old, his patch of sun yellow hair atop of his head matched his slightly orangy-red motteled skin. He held onto his tail with webbed fingers a sign of insecurity.
She had called Sciz to met with her, as it was now she wasn't too sure what to do with Chath. Even though the lab tech had explained it all fairly throughouly the newt boy seemed relunctant to even speak to her.

Sciz had remembered the call he recieved earlier and arrived a little earlier then requested. He had a black back pack slung over his shoulder and a small blue igloo cooler in his left hand. Circling around his legs was Lian.
Lian would occasionaly venture a distance away from Sciz to pick something up and shove into Sciz's face. He would sigh explain whatever it was then tell Lian to put it back where he found it. Somehow they made inside the building. Sciz waved to Jayoku as he walked up to her.
"Ah is this the little boy?" Sciz smiled at Chath.
Lian stood beside Sciz's right arm and clung to his tail pulling it close to his face for a moment. He glanced between Jayoku and Chath before schooting over to Chath. He opened his free hand towards Chath.
"Luuk wut I fewn- found." A small shiny aqua colored rock was in his hand.

Jayoku gave an almost releived smile as she saw Sciz enter the building. Her tense shoulders seemed to relax for but a moment as she then noticed the cute little bear child circling around curiously. Pushing her glasses up onto her face again she then waved back to Sciz.
"Yes...this is.." she went to point to Chath only to find that he was turned away from her looking at the shiney rock in Lian's hand.
"this is Chath." she said her smile turning slightly into a lopsided grin.
"Is that your child?" she asked trying not to be rude and point to Lian.
Chath didn't like the woman. He could still remember her first expression when she saw him. It lingered on his mind imprinted like a horrible scar.
But...for now he was distracted. An odd little panda boy was showing him a rock. It certainly was shiney.
"you find?" he asked reaching her little webbed fingers out towards the rock. "Mkay for me twuo doutch?" he asked his little fingers hesititating of the shiney surface.

Sciz droped the cooler ight beside his feet looking happy to finally have a chance to put it down. Lian had been rather tiring to keep track off constantly.
"Umm? Ah yes, thats Lian." He sighed a bit. "As soon as he settled in he's been very hard to keep track of. I'm surprised I even got him to wear pants today."
"How are you doing with Chath?"
Lian nodded his head rather exitedly. No one had taken interst in the stuff he found before. " u can old it."
"Mmm, der's lots of em. Skiz made me put dem bak." he leaned closer to Chath. "dun tell im i still haf sum. I give u bunch of sparkly rooks if u no tell." Lian let go of his tail to shove his hand into his pocket to pull out more rocks.

Jayoku looked to Lian and then to Chath, happy at least that Chath was speaking to the other child. She looked a bit sad att he question posed at her from Sciz, she stood and then leaned in close so she could whisper.
"We kinda got off on the wrong foot. THe little guy will hardly speak to me." she whispered sounded distressed.
Chath rubbed an eye as he was given permisson to hold the shiney rock. Taking it carefully in his fingers he looked over the surface captivated.
After learning of Lian's secret he nodded his head furiously and whispered hoarsly back.
"I no tell." he replied looking to the rocks now appearing in Lian's hand.

"Oh." His voice dropped and he shuffled his weight a bit nervously. He didn't mean to have infringed on something of a difficult matter.
"If I may ask, what exactly happened?" Sciz kept his voice low not that the two children were paying much attention to them anyways. He sat down near Jayoku so they could talke easier.
Lian grinned and offered the fist fully of rocks he had pulled from his pocket. They were various colors and textures, but all of them were shiny in some matter.
"U gewd friend 'cause friend no tell on each other." He grabed his tail again after one of his hands had been freed. Lian scooted closer and sat next to Chath and pointed at one of the rocks he had given him. It was a smooth peice of red granite with little shiney black speckles in it. "dat ones my favoright but u can haf et."

Jayoku sighed and then leaned closer to Sciz, even though she knew that the children were ignoring them she didn;t want to make the situation worse.
"Well when i arrived, I didn't realize that they were giving me a amphibium (sp?) for a son. Truth be told I am a bit scared of them." she explained feeling embaressed that she had such a stupid fear.
Chath took the fist full of rocks in his webbed hands, giving off little ooooh and awwwws as he examined each one. "I canth take youvs favoriaght..." he said mutedly, though his eyes were big with wonder as being offered such a precious gift.
"i hath nofin in rweturn..." he said a bit glumly.

"Have you tried not thinking of him as an amphibian and as a little boy." Sciz glanced at Chath for a second. That would be hard to imagine with orange skin, webbed digits and a tail. "... or atleast a lizard, like a colorful gecko? Surely you're not scared of geckos." Sciz had know people to not like reptiles, but geckos seemed to be okay with them... most of the time.
He shook his head with the most serious expresion he could muster as a four year old. "No keep it. U can gif me someting next tim. I like suuprithes- su- surprizes."
Lian kicked his feet idlely since they didn't touch the ground from his seat. Surprizes had reminded him that he promissed not to climb anything in the buillding for one. He really wanted to climb too.
"Oh! Wut you like to do? I like tooo climb!" Lian gave another big grin. he was rather exited to have some one his size to talk to for once.

Jayoku nodded her head glumly. "But his skin...is so smooth...and it gets a bit slimey when he sweats..." she seemed to resist a shudder, "I won't give him up...I just couldn't do that to a child. Despite what he is part of I need to get over it....could you help me with some suggestions?" She implored looking at Sciz desperation in her eyes. The last thing she wanted to do was to give up the child. She had been entrusted with its care...
Taking Lian's favorite rock he held it close to his motteled skin. He wore no shirt, as Jayoku and him had not left the building yet to get clothes. His tail wiggeled a bit as he tried to think up something similar.
"I like to swim..and pway hwied and sweek." He replied finally thinking of the cool dark places he liked to hide in as well as swimming. He adored swimming.
"Do yous swim?" he asked looking at the red panada child hopefully.

"Lian sheds alot but he I just have to vacum more is all. Keeps the house clean." He chuckled quietly.
"Ehhh" Sciz strocked his chin a bit while he was thinking of something to help her with Chath. "Maybe if you did something with him that he liked? I'd help you bond and slowly get over your fear."
Lian stopped wiggling for a moment thinking if he'd ever gone swiming yet. "In a small ool I did. No allowed en big ool yet." he poated. "Dey said i waz tooo small but i show dem."
He tilted his head and looked a little puzzled. "Hwide and seek? i hafun't plaied dat un befor. Wut you do?"

Jayoku went silent for a moment and tried to think of something she and Chath could do together. "Um...I don't know much abouts newts other than they like damp places.." she said with a lopsided smile. "I guess i have some research ahead of me." she gave small giggle though it seemed forced.
"Is Lain a red panda?" she asked looking over the little boy who was chatting up a storm with Chath.
Chath gave a glowing smile as the red panada confirmed he did indeed like to swim. "Sam ere, the big aduls won let me in da big pwool eider." he confirmed with a nod of his head.
"Hwide and seek? vell vhat you dos it one pwerson cwounts to ten and da odar pwerson hides. Then da person countin haths to come find you." he tried to explain the basics of the game simple, even though he only had a vague grasp of it.

"I think they swim really well. they are amphibians after all. You could try a pool or a the kiddie area at a water park." Sciz stops for a moment and considers that Chath might not want to go to crowded public places being so young. "Or you could get one of those kiddie pools for him."
"Yes he is, and just like red panda's he is very good at climbing." He laughed. "You ever try to keep a todler out of your top cabinets where they're not suppose to reach?"
"We haf to show dem we big enuf for big ool." lian gave a toothy grin in response, well a mostly toothy grin.
"Dat seunds like it cewd be hard if dare a good hwider." He thought of all the places he could hide in and his tail twitched a bit. "Dat seunds like loots of fun doh."

Jayoku felt a bit dumstruck. Of course....swimming. She was sure that Chath would enjoy it. "Your so smart Sciz. I think you are onto something for sure. I will pick up a kiddy pool as soon as i am able to." she said giving Sciz a wink and a actual smile for the first time. Her heart seemed to have been lifted a bit.
"Oh it must be so hard to keep him out of trouble." Jayoku quietly excliamed looking over at Lian. "Do you lock the cupboards?"
Chath nodde dhis head enthused for once, the rock still clutched to his chest possesively. "Da, I haft pwayed a cwuople tems." he boasted proudly, his tail twitched and he then looked a bit sick. His skin was fiarly dried out, and it made him feel umcomfertable. His face gave the expression of tasting something horrible for the first time.

Sciz grinned. "No problem, but I'm not that smart or anything."
"Just finished putting the las lock on earlier today." He sighed visibly as his sholders dropped. It was a pain to move everything around and to keep Lian penned in on area and not get in the way. "I left a couple of cabinets empty incase he actuall wanted to crawl inside one and hide. The rest all have locks. The next thing I have to do is child proof the rest of the house."
"Luuuky." He poated again but this time it obiously wasn't very serious about it. "Wuts wroong?" Lian's brows knotted up a bit. His tail held completely still.

Jayoku gave a small giggle as Sciz detailed the problems he had been having trying to keep Lian out of trouble. "Arn't you afriad he may fall out of those cabinets?" she asked curiously. She was so absorbed in her conversation with Sciz sh failed to notice her little one looking fiarly ill.
"I fweel sick.." Chath managed to say as he placed the rock into his short pocket and then hugged his tail. "I am swooo firtsy." he gasped looking fairly dehydrated.
