User Image Liel stepped up to a root of the great tree with a smile on his face. This was the time he loved best... the moment that he lived for...

He let his bag fall from his shoulder to the floor, and chuckled to himself when the bag said 'oof.'

"Ah, hold 'yer pants on, I'll let you out in a second..." He closed his eyes, one paw placed on the bark of the tree, and breathed in deeply, savoring the air. "I just need to take a moment here."

"Liel!" The bag called out to him angrily. "Lettus outta here or you'll be sorry!"

The grown ferret rolled his eyes... eye... yeah... He wasn't worried... he was , after all, the most competent magician in all of the forest... What could the bag creatures ever do to him? He was the reason they were in the bag in the first place. "I told you to hold your pants." He almost growled it. "Unless you want to become creatures even less important than you are now."

".... please..." The bag asked.

He rolled his eye(s) again, this time with a sigh. "you know I can't resist you when you're nice." With a groan, Liel knelt down beside the bag and pulled the drawstring. "Alright you lot. Go have some fun."

User ImageLeslie was on his way back home, having had a very good trip to Mossflower. He had only found out recently what the cork that had been left with him after passing out was for and had come back to Mossflower to trade. Most of the merchants scared him, though. He would try to say something, perhaps ask what they wanted for an item, and then they would be loud and startle him causing him to run away, or at least walk away at a quickened pace. Somehow, though, (and he really had no idea how) he had manged to find a nice elderly mousemaid who saw the cork that he was holding and offered him the bucket that he was now carrying as well as the piece of pumpkin pie inside it. It probably wasn't the best trade he could've made, but he was happy with it.

He was making his way back to Breezemoor, thinking that he was finally making some real progress in being able to make his way to Mossflower more easily, when he heard something behind him. His whole body instantly tensed up as a voice behind him said, "Hey, you... you look like you eat good enough to be good enough to eat." His heart raced as he imagined horrible things to answer the question that repeated in his mind. What was that?!

He slowly turned around only to find that there was nothing there... or at least nothing he could see. His brow knit in confusion and worry, but mostly worry, his eyes full of fear as he looked around for something that seemed to have completely disappeared. A small whimper escaped him as he mentally debated what to do. If he just continued on, he might be attacked, but if he tried to find it whatever it was, he would definitely be attacked. His father would have done the latter of the two, hunting the thing down and defeating it before it could hurt his family, or at least trying to. He knew he couldn't do that, so he tried to figure out what his mother would do. 'We anoles have a talent for blending in,' he remembered her saying, 'If you practice enough, one day you'll be able to stay perfectly still and have a great chance of hiding.' He had had trouble with that at first because he would shake when he was scared. He actually was shaking, but hadn't noticed it until just then. He tried his best to stop and stay perfectly still to blend in. Hopefully, if there was a threat, his mother's advice would help him.

Now if only his knees would stop shaking...

Leslie

"Standing still isn't going to... " The voice stopped suddenly... "That was really different." The voice actually sounded shocked and slightly awed. "you know, lizard girlie, for a second there you were invisible" The bushes to Leslie's right shook slightly for a second and then went still again.

"You know, I bet that if someone were to walk by right now they wouldn't see you at all... but I can still see you." The bush laughed. "And even if I couldn't I could still smell you."

(( I know Leslie is a boy... the creature is making fun of him. ))

Newt and Abeya danced in a circle, holding hands as they hopped around with Nell flitting above their heads. The beautiful weather and crisp, clean air was going to their heads. “Jingle-Jangle go the Blue Bells, Swishity-Swash in the Air. Jingle-Jangle go the Blue Bells, Never was a Spring so Fair!” The two mice sang joyfully before flopping to the ground, sighing and catching their breath. Newt giggled as Nell climbed onto his head. “Hey, you... you look like you eat good enough to be good enough to eat” Raising an eyebrow, the two mice looked at each other, “What?…Why would you say that?…I didn’t say anything…then who was that?” They quickly stood and dusted themselves off, looking around at their surroundings. “I didn’t like that sound of that…” Abeya said warily, remembering her encounter with Canker Blossom. She could easily take Newt and rush home, but who knows what lies around the next tree. No, best to follow the voice. Because, like that old proverb says: The Closer we are to Danger, The Further we are from harm!Come on, Newt!” Abeya grabbed his hand tightly and ran off into the woods.

User ImageTrudging back to his hut after a long morning of fishing, Gormen dropped the fish that had been slung over his shoulder, preparing to tie them up over the fire to smoke them. “Hey, you…” He turned and looked behind him, “…you look like you eat good enough…” He grumbled and continued with his chore, “…to be good enough to eat.” Dropping his creel, he turned and looked around him, “Who was that? Show yourself!” After receiving no response, Gormen headed off in the direction of the first statement, determined to find the creature behind the voice and teach them a thing or two!

Mortimer shrugged off hearing someone saying he looked good to eat. Of course he looked good enough to eat. He looked good enough for anything. Looking good was what he was best at doing.

Although, he didn't like the connotation that he ate a lot. Was he putting on weight? If so, that wasn't good. In fact, that kind of bummed him out. Mortimer vowed to go on a diet starting tomorrow. Today though, all this talk of eating made him kind of want to go find a snack to eat. And besides, one should really indulge themselves before the great sacrifice needed to be on a diet.

Wait, why did he want food again? Right. The ominous voice. Mortimer wasn't exactly the best at keeping track of anything other himself. So he ignored everything else around him, and stuck to the task of pondering what he was going to eat. All this thinking was kind of hurting his head, and making him hungry.

Newt and Abeya

The voice wasn't all that far away, in fact, after about 30 steps the voice is loud enough that it must be nearby. You hear one last chuckle before the creature goes silent again. There's a set of bushes, one big tree, and a hole in the ground... all three seem to be large enough for a creature to hide in... Which do you look in first?

Gormen

As you start to get worked up the voice starts to push at you, grating on your nerve with it's catcalls and mimics... it seems that anything you say the little gruff voice says back, and suddenly there's about ten voices, all seeming to come from 10 steps away. Each time you get closer to a voice it fades and seems to start up again farther away.... right as you feel like you're about to give up, something grabs at your tail quills... if you spin to see, there will be nothing but the slight shaking of a nearby bush...

Motrimer

A pine nut suddenly flies out of nowhere and hits you on the head. "Hey you! Scaley spiff! I'm a-talking to you." Another pine nut comes up and smacks you in the head. "I kin do this all day, and you barely have enough brains to last too many more of these... attacks."

User ImageThe sun was starting to go down, and Shai decided that he had enough for the moment. He slung the bag of nuts over his shoulder, and picked up his walking stick. He wasn't about to leave any of his things here, even if he did come back almost everyday.

He headed back towards Woodhaven, where he knew there was a mug of warm honey tea just waiting to be made. That would be the perfect thing to finish off a very productive day.

"Hey, you," he heard, coming from behind him. "you look like you eat good enough to be good enough to eat..." Shai spun around, his stick held firmly in his hands. He could fight with it, should it be needed, especially if whatever it was, did try to eat him.

"What do you want?" he asked, hoping that the other would speak again. Perhaps that could give him a clue to where whatever it was was hiding, and let him know where to avoid. "If you're that hungry, I have a bag of nuts that I would more than happily share with you." Anything to keep from being eaten himself.

User ImageThey had decided to go their own ways today, Trix and Rhys because every so often Trix could take no more torment and Rhys could no longer handle having to explain things slower for the mouse or five times before she understood. They would spend time apart, cool down and meet back up later when they could better handle each other.

Trix had decided that exploring was the best way to spend her day because really there was nothing she liked to do better. She had been in Hallowmarl a while now but with all the tunnels that lay beneath the dessert's surface she was certain she had only seen a little of it. She wanted to know it all, remember the place like the back of her hand.

So in her adventure she found herself turning down a tunnel that she didn't know and that was she heard it. "Hey, you..." Trix paused at the sound of the voice. He hadn't seen anyone else around as she ventured down this tunnel. "you look like you eat good enough to be good enough to eat" Turning around as it continued to speak confirmed that she was alone.

There were probably a ton of reasons to explain what it was that she had heard and what was happening but she could only think of one and it made the mouse scowl. "Rhys that's not funny!" she called back down the empty tunnel. Her squirrel friend was good at sneaking and she wouldn't put it past him to have decided to play a prank on her. He was after all a jerk.

Robert rubbed his sore head with a paw as he slowly made his way back to Hallowmarl. Just... why did he even think of trying to down all those ales?! At least... he had gotten something out of it...

He trudged along as he held the two corks in his other paw while still rubbing his head. 2 #3 corks... He wasn't quite sure what he was supposed to do with these, but apparently, they could be exchanged for prizes. But... what? His head only hurt more as he tried to think, so he slowly pushed the thought away.

As he walked farther along, he heard... a voice. Something... about eating. Food? Food would be good right about now... something, ANYTHING to settle his stomach... and mind. But his ears twitched as he tried to mesh the string of words he heard into a proper sentence. Eat... good enough... to eat? Were they... trying to say he was good enough to eat?!

Starting to break out into a sweat, he quickly spun around, looking around frantically for the voice that addressed him. It... was for him, right? He wasn't hallucinating... was he?

User ImageSunfur was scouting through the undergrowth, his tail waving like a banner, his ears pinned back as he waded through the thorns and scratchy creeper to catch the bug he had spotted with the beautiful iridescent pearl case. He had never seen such a bug before, and as he pushed the ferns and brambles aside, he caught another elusive glance of it before it scuttled through easily, out of reach. It was at that point Sunfur felt a shiver run up his spine. He stood straight, glancing about himself.

"Wh--hh-ho's there?" He stammered, looking about with fearful, large red eyes. There was a soft chuckle before the voice of the elusive individual rose up and seemed to emanate from all around the golden furred mouse.

"Hey you... you look like you eat good enough to be good enough to eat..."

Sunfur shivered at the voice, and twisted back around, head whipping from side to side, trying to find the creature that taunted him so! "Leave m-m-me alone, f-f-fffffoul b-b-b-beast!" He stuttered, as he edged back to his small collection of thing, his hand reaching down to grip tight around his lucky stone, nestled amongst the small glass jars of honey and preserve he used to entice the bugs to him, as well as his little net and leash. The stone twirled almost dizzyingly between his fingers as he started to collect his stuff, rare coloured bug forgotten, just wanting to get home.

User ImageMarty was still a little haphazard on his wing, and it tired easily after its spraining, and the long journey to Fleuve after escaping Zaphira's orphanage. He was on his way to deliver his first letter as post-bird of Fleuve, and after a good morning of flitting through the trees, he had decided to walk a little way, in case he were to meet another young orphanage dibbun, and reacquaint himself with them! It wasn't at all that his wing was achy and tired, oh no!

Half hop-skip-jumping, half taking wobbly little walking steps, the little chickadee made his way along the path, singing a soft tune as he went. The voice was unexpected, and gave him a jump as it seemed to whisper directly into his ear!

"Hey you..."

Marty looked around, expecting to see someone stood over his shoulder, but there was nothing. He stood, wings bent on his hips as though scolding a younger dibbun, and he frowned deeply, his dark maroon eyes glancing around the path and the foliage on either side.

"'Ere! 'Oo are yer?" He put on his best bad-a** dibbun voice, but his high, reedy little song-bird voice hardly gave it any merit! He sniffed and rubbed at his beak with the back of his wing, before turning away again to start his march up the path.

"You look like you eat good enough to be good enough to eat!"

The voice sent a chill up Marty's spine, but he rounded quickly, looking about, wings up in a boxing motion as he shrieked out his challenge.

"Good enough to eat, eh? I'll show you, you blaggard! I'll come in there and box you right in the ear! You jus' watch!" Dropping the letter from under his wing, the little chickadee went striding into the undergrowth, flapping his wings noisily to scare the taunter out into the open. Though only a child, this little song-bird certainly had a big attitude!!

User ImageImogen was on another walk through Woodhaven, as she often was, keeping an eye out for anything that could be interesting, but this time she was on her way to her parents' home to show them her knew friend, a skittish brown roly poly that she named Ches. She had spent all of the prior day getting him to warm up to her by giving him berries to coax him out of the ball that he always seemed to be curled up in. Surprisingly, he wasn't curled up at the moment, though. Instead, he was laying in Imogen's bag amongst leaves and twigs and a health potion that she had gotten from Edgar a while back, not that the bug could tell what that was. He had gotten used to the bag to the point that he now lay with his head peeking out from under the flap so that he could see where they were going.

Imogen had noticed the bug's more relaxed state and was happy that he was no longer so frightened around her, so she frowned when she heard a voice behind her say, "Hey, you... you look like you eat good enough to be good enough to eat," and felt Ches quickly snap into a ball, rolling back into her bag. It took a moment for the words to register for her, as she had been focused on her bug, but once they did she turned to see who had said them. When she didn't see anyone, she looked more surprised than frightened. She was certain she had heard someone, and it had seemed as though they were right behind her, so then where had they gone? She hadn't heard them retreat, so it wasn't like they had been right behind her and run into the bushes.

Her mind reeled with idea after idea of how this someone could hide in such a way. Magic was a possibility, but that was too simply of an answer, too much of a cover all, so she kept thinking and began mumbling to herself. "Magic seems too simple... They could've made an outfit out of leaves to blend in... or maybe they made some sort of cloaking device!" she said, starting to get excited and starting to wonder how someone might make a cloaking device. "Maybe, if you could somehow hold water up, it could reflect the things around you," she started to speak louder now and began to pace so to help herself think, "But if that was how it worked, I'd see myself somewhere around here." She glanced around again, somewhat hoping to see herself to find this amazing inventor she expected the creature behind the voice to be by now, but there was no second Imogen. A small frown came to her face then, and she said, "Or maybe you're just really good at hiding," sounding a bit disappointed. She really really liked the idea of a cloaking device, as well as meeting such an inventor if they had made one.

Letting out a small sigh, she said, "So which is it? Magic, invention, or skill?" out loud to the invisible, or more likely well hidden, creature. She said 'invention' with a happier tone to her voice, while 'skill' sounded as if she were bored.

When the first pine nut hit him in the head, Mortimer was upset. When the second one hit, Mortimer got angry. He picked up the two pine nuts, one in each hand, and struck a dramatic pose.

In a raspy, grizzled voice he softly spoke, "I may not have the brains, but I do have the balls!" He lopped the nuts off in the direction they came from, over confidently assuming that they dusted whatever was bothering him. Then Mortimer gave a sly half-smile. Oh yeah. He was good.

Now, about that snack.

Leandar grinned as he heard "Hey, you... you look like you eat good enough to be good enough to eat..." There was a short silence following the malicious statement, and Leandar continued to walk ignoring it. His gaze shifted briefly to the left and right. Using his new found tracking ability, Leandar began the process of locating the source of the voice. His eyes flitted about searching for signs of another animal. Broken twigs, paw prints, anything.

Shai

"Oh, aren't you a nice one." The voice was mocking the mouse, calling out to him from high above. As if to emphasize this, a pine nut came falling out of the tree above you and barely missed hitting you in the face. "Oh, that's a shame." The voice said. "Having a knot on your face could only have improved your looks." You just have time to see a branch wiggle and a green appendage whisk around behind the trunk again. Do you climb the tree? Or something else?

Robert

The voice called out to you, calling you here and there, and even though you reached a different place everytime, you never seemed to be any closer to the voice. "WARMER... WARMER... Oh, frozen ice!" Then you hear a second voice. "No he's not, he's burning up!" Do you listen to the first voice and assume you're far away? Or do you listen to the second voice and assume you're right on top of the creature.

Trix

You hear the voice again... "Who's Rhys? He yer boyfriend?" The voice seems to be coming from right over your shoulder. If you spin around generate a random number between 1 and 5... if you run, then to you go further into the tunnel? Or back out?

Sunfur

"WE'VE GOT A RUNNER!" The call comes from above you somewhere, but even before it's finished yelling lots of voices join in with it, whooping and hollering and cheering you on... until something drops on you from above, landing on your shoulders (sitting on your shoulders?) with it's paws or hands or something over your eyes so you can't see. You suddenly hear "Giddiap Horsie Mouse" and your rider kicks you in the shoulders as if you were, indeed, a horsie mouse. Run? Or try to dislodge the rider?

Marty

As you're searching and calling for the owner of the voice, you catch sight of your letter (that you dropped) disappearing into the bushes. "Oh, what could this be?" One voice asks. "Lemme see it! It's a love letter I bet!" answers a third... "Toss it over here! I wanna open it and read it!" Calls a third. The voices seem to be in a triangle around you... the first corner is where you saw the letter leave, the second point to your right, and the third behind you....

Mortimer

"Yes, I can see them." The voice laughed. "But they're little even for a lizard... I bet you could get some pants to hide your lizard shame..." Another nut flew down, seemingly from nowhere until you see a branch wiggle and a little green appendage disappear behind the tree's trunk... You hear a second voice up in the trees, "Hehe, he said balls while he was holding nuts!"... "I know! I saw!" Whooped a third. Do you go after them? Or stay on the ground and throw more nuts?

Imogen

While you're looking around for the owner of the voice, you're not paying enough attention to your feet... you feel a tugging on your bag and hear a "What's in the bag four eyes?" and just have time to see the flap open before the owner of the voice is gone again. "What was it?" Asked a second voice... "A rock" Called the first. "Poindexter has a rock in her purse" ... "Probably makes her feel smart" Calls the second. "We should take it" ... Run? grab the bag and brace yourself?
