Dakota quietly stepped into the empty dorm room and looked around. There was nobody here. He shrugged and sat down on the couch to stare out the window. He never watched tv. He never had....his parents hadn't ever allowed him to do so and no he just never did. Dakota pulled on his bottom lip and curled up so that his chin was rested on his knees. He hoped his roommate wasn't a jerk...

Arthur knocked on the dorm room before lightly walking inside. The room seemed rather empty, but as he looked around, he saw another guy in the room. Must be my roommate...be nice... He brightly smiled and walked over. "Hello. I'm Arthur. You must be my roommate." He held out a friendly hand.

Dakota jumped slightly in suprise but relaxed moments later when he saw it was just his roommate. "I'm Dakota," He replied, flashing a smile and shaking his hand,"Nice to meet you Arthur." He pulled his hand back and then moved over on the couch so Arthur could sit next to him if he wanted to.

Arthur smiled and sat down. "Not a bad dorm eh?" He said, voice heavy with his British accent. He liked this guy. he seemed nice and bright, unlike a few other people he could mention..

"Nope," he agreed with a slight nod,"Not a bad dorm at all." He turned and looked back out the window, letting his hand fall down from his chin to his side. His roommate seemed nice. That was always a positive. He shifted on the couch slightly, wondering what he should say next.

"So...uh...heh I'm really bad at this...I'm not use to being around people that much..." He looked down at the floor, a bitter smile on his lips. That was true...He never really made friends easy when he was back in the UK... his mother had died when he was born, so, naturally, his father hated him. Arthur had to teach himself practically. Living off the streets, fighting for his meals...it was a miracle he survived at all.

"Me too," he replied with a nervous smile. His parents were big psychologists and had performed experiment after experiment on him. What would a kid turn out like if you home schooled him and didn't have him have any contact with other kids his age? What would he turn out like if he didn't start speaking until he was four? And so on and so forth. Why couldn't he just have NORMAL parents? "Okay so I'm terrible at this..." he went on finally,"How about you tell me something about yourself and I'll tell you something about myself?"

"Heh...alright...uh...I grew up in the UK...uh...had a father...but we didn't get along very well...uh...moved here about two weeks ago..." he said, rubbing the back of his neck. By pushing his hair back, there could be seen a thick, white scar from the back of his ear and down his neck.

He shifted as he it came to his turn and his face became red. "I grew up in Canada with my parents who are psychologists. I guess I didn't get along with them...its complicated. I moved here a month ago." He glanced at Arthur's scar and unconscionsly touched his own underneath his chin.

Arthur looked over at him, eyes curious. "Heh...guess we both got family issues huh?" Arthur seemed to...relax more, knowing that his new roommate was like him...sort of...

"I guess so," He agreed with a smile and turned his attention back to the window,"That's common." He shrugged and stood up. Why on earth was he so awkward around people like this? He frowned out of fustration and raked his fingers through his hair.

"Yeah," He murmured and turned to look at Arthur with a smile,"Thanks." He really was going to have to practice this. He turned back to the window and touched the glass with his fingertips like he used to do in his old room. "What do you plan on doing once you get out of here?" He asked after awhile,"Out of this school I mean."

"okay...uh...I don't really know...I've always liked art...but I'm not really good at it...I like music...but can't play anything worth of crap...so...I don't know...I'm...undecided..." He murmured, watching the window with sad eyes. "What about you?"

"I love playing the piano," he replied softly and pressed his other hand against the glass like he was trying to escape,"Its one of the few things my parents deemed was alright for me to do for their experiment." He shrugged and blushed. He hadn't meant to say that last part.... ugh. Dakota turned and looked at Arthur with a slight frown. "What sort of art?"
