Allaxon returned to his bunk after his day of chores and tapped some small dried wherry pieces into the blown glass bowl which housed his small fish. he stretched and thumped down onto his bed for a moment. he then scrambled up already bored, he went off to inspect plants near the feeding grounds. Perhaps someone will be over there with their dragon, he mused. He still hadn't got his fill of looking at dragons, the only one he had ever seen decently close was the green who had searched him. he marched off in that direction, head swiveling around for any draconic floaters in the sky above.

This place is no fun. Astarteth grumped to her rider. The attention loving green had tried hard to play and flirt with the browns and bronzes but they always seemed so serious. They were flying above Trine, getting ready to come in and head off to their weyr. I miss the sandy place. Kallista thumped her lovely and gave her neck a hug. "It's alright love. As soon as this travel business is done, everything will be normal. Making sure dragons will be around is important business." We will always be here. Look! It is the boy we found. Astarteth gave a warble of hello and turned so that they could land near him. "Why so it is! Allaxon, hello there!"

Allaxon, manly man that he is jumped at the warble that sounded behind and above him. He blushed and tried to hide it by greeting Kallista and Astarteth exuberantly. He was pleased that he got to see her again and was delighted to be in the presence of her lovely green as well. "Hello!, nice to see you again!" he called loudly, waving his hands widely.

Astarteth landed gracefully. Of course, everything the dragon did was either graceful or sensual. And since she wasn't glowing and just had her Flight not too long ago, there would be no glowing any time soon. Folding her wings in, she stepped towards the boy and stopped bringing her head down to stare at him.
Kallista slid off and pulled off her helmet. They had been doing sweep, not that anything important was going on but with quite a few riders going back, Kallista felt the urge to keep herself in the present. "And you, have you been settling well here?"

He bowed with a flourish to both Astarteth and Kallista. "Yes as a matter of fact, I have settled quite well, with my pile of plants and my fish I am quite at home in the Weyr, thanks to you." he grinned. "Astarteth is looking lovely today as usual", he commented "As are you my friend, and thank you again for giving me this chance. As a farmer by trade we may be found less than people in other crafts. Unless of course dragons start to search by farm as well as hold, which in my opinion is a little to daunting." He was still smiling, in fact he couldn't quite wipe the smile off his face, the sun was shining, the sky blue, the wind warm and he was in the presence of one of Perns great dragons, in fact the very one who had brought him to the Weyr itself. He produced a fragrant bouquet of flowers plucked that very day off of the blooming plants around hisbunk in an effort not to stink his bunk mates out with flowery perfume. He didn't have too many with him and he set them outside during the day to catch light, but he had one in particular that was blooming profusely and needed to be curbed for its own health.
He presented the bouquet to Kallista and explained why he was walking around with flowers. He just hadn't figured out what to do with them yet and here was the perfect solution give them as a thank you to his sweep rider.

Kallista blinked at the flowers unsure of what to do with them. She was not used to getting much attention or wanting any at all. Taking them, she looked them over and tried to find the right words.
Thank you is a good start. Astar replied with a snort. She liked this one who knew how to pay attention to the ladies and dragons. I am going to go sun myself.
"Uh, thanks. I will try to make sure they don't get crushed or anything." Kallista began to walk in the direction of the common area and motioned for the candidate to join her. She ignore the statement about her own looks and instead focused on her love. "When isn't she lovely, at least in her mind. SO I take it lessons are going well?"

"Lessons are going excellently." he replied. " I seem to like them as much as I like farming." he grinned.
"It is good to be around people again, being on your own can get lonely at times." he observed. He followed her to the common area, chattering amiably all the way. He hadn't met many people yet and she provided friendly conversation.
"Beautiful day out today, huh?" he said soaking up the sun. Three flits whizzed by on some errand or another, he enjoyed that about the Weyr, it was always busy and always colorful.

Kallista had known all about lonely. Being at High Reaches Weyr had been an interesting change from Ista but with her only friend becoming more involved in other work, and her health condition, she had felt isolated all the time. She nodded. "People can make life interesting. Before I Impressed, I was a runner, so I got to deal with people all the time. It is funny what people say and do when they think no one is watching."
"It is lovely out. The one thing I miss about up north is the snow. I could not get enough of the snow. The sands are just as white but you can't build with them, not this sand." Kallista waved over a worker who had a pitcher of juice.

"Really I didn't know you had been a runner, it must have been exciting." Allaxon said. "About your sand Vs. snow problem i hear you are supposed to add water to the sand to make it stick so you can build it up. But after it dries out it crumbles again." He grabbed some leftover rolls to augment their juice. He handed her some and took a bite of one of his own. "So how was your flight today?"

"The sands at Ista were too fine to do anything with , as for these sands," she shrugged. "I haven't tried. Too much had been happening and now I am tired." Kallista laughed. "I could run a full day without stopping but I suppose I'm not at full strength yet."
She enjoyed her simple meal before responding. "As well as sweeps can go, this one was fine. Astar pouts because no one pays her any attention."
Yet. They have not seen my true beauty. These southern dragons are quite rude.

"How could they not pay her any attention, she is certainly noticeable with her grace and suppleness in the air and on the ground. Those silly Southern dragons just can't appreciate a lovely northern flower such as Astarteth." he said eloquently as his eyes lit upon another tray of rolls passed dangerously close to his nose. He was still hungry and the smell was a horrible tease.
"Whoever made those rolls knows that they tempt me beyond all reason." he exclaimed pitifully. "They should come with warning labels. DANGER don't whaft fumes under Allaxon's nose." he laughed and rose to grab two before they walked away from him. That would be a tragedy as he was having a good time with Kallista.

Kallista hmmm'd as he heaped praise onto Astarteth. Not that the green didn't deserve it because she was graceful and lithe in the air but because the dragon had the tendacy to get a big head. She continued to sip on her drink and listen.
I don't get a big head. I merely know the truth. Astarteth pouted. We should have gone home.
Home is not the same love. Minds change, opinions change. But you and I, we need to stay the same. She gently chided her dragon.
When the rolls walked by, she enhaled deeply. The bread was good today. And while she didn't have to watch her figure, flying with Astarteth keep her in shape, she didn't want to gorge herself either. "Just fruit for me. During the day heat, I prefer to eat lightly."

"I'll have to remember that if I fly again. It seems a smart thing to do if you are unaccustomed to drops and starts and even when you are used to them it is a good idea." he nodded. Continuing to admire the green and munching on his roll. "i wonder if we will get roast wherry tonight, and/ or tubers I love tubers!" he smiled at her. " Can you tell I appreciate good food?" he asked.

Kallista had heard of some places, some holds that had too many mouths to feed and not enough to go around. In the weyrs and main holds, food was around if not plentiful during the good Turns. And some people were born to eat. "Are you from a hold that was...lacking?"
Was there any proper way to ask if you had grown up starving. Though Allaxon was a growing male and boys seemed to eat three times as much as girls did. "I enjoyed mashed tubers when they have a dollop of butter in them. When Astarteth was younger, I used to let her try my food."

"No no not at all our hold was well off in comparison to some others. i just like food." he smiled at her trying to dispel any awkwardness. "Did she like the people food at all? Besides the meat?" he asked with great curiosity. "I myself can't bring myself to eat some of the more fragrant green vegetables." he scrunched up his face at the thought. Those green things curled his toes and he didn't appreciate them one bit. he liked some of the other veggies though so that made up for the lack.
