Asclepius found herself wandering her old neighborhood again tonight, though she studiously avoided the bus shelter where she had encountered the fellow with the duct tape a few nights prior. This part of town was a bit more of a business district, or at least an attempt at one - most of the shopfronts that lined the streets were boarded up and disused, though one of the buildings looked like it had a buyer who was working on renovating.
The Senshi of Medicine walked down the sidewalk, arms crossed against the chill the spring night had taken, and studied the old storefronts as she passed. This was not even really a patrol. Asclepius just kind of wanted some fresh air and a quiet place to think, and the best way to do that seemed to be powered-up. If anyone bothered her, she would be better able to fight back.
Or maybe she was starting to just feel better in uniform. Which was odd. All of this senshi stuff was why she needed a walk in the first place.

Marlo had a trait Pollux did not, and that was being able to walk home and end end up bloody bruised and half wanting just lay down and die. The supposed safe houses were often filled with drug addicts, pimps, whores, gang bangers, dealers...all the sorts of types you didn't feel like helping on a general basis. Not to mention they were lacking in one thing Pollux liked. Fortification. Safety couldn't be found when the guy next to you had a knife that cut easily cut your vocal chords. Or stab you in an artery. Safe houses indeed. The senshi of hail scoffed at them. You could have called it pride, or you could have called it an act of self preservation, but Pollux had stopped using the 'known' locations a long time ago.
A week or so ago he'd had a friend of a friend of a friend buy the land to the small lot with the abandoned shop and loft. A storehouse in back, a garage, and few ways in and few ways out. No windows until the second floor due to the fact it was crammed wall to wall with the other shops in the area. Small and easy to protect. A way in from above. Two below. An emergancy exit if he needed one. Yes, it suited all his needs. This was Pollux's personal haven. One without any other residents. Besides the local stay cat he'd taken to feeding. Kept the mouse and rat problem down.
Climbing out the roof exit, Pollux was surprise to feet the clatter of shoes from the street. Few came down this way in daylight, much less at night so who- A flicker of a power signature and he relaxed, if only slightly. Peering over the side of the roof she didn't look harmful, or...well she didn't look like she'd attack him at least. Jumping down, he gave a typical Pollux greeting. "You look cold." That was, not a proper greeting at all. "Were you tracking a youma, or just patrolling?"

Asclepius was trying not to really think about anything in particular, which meant she ended up thinking about quite a bit. The question of torture in this war still nagged at her, and just what sort of role she was supposed to be playing in it. She thought she felt another senshi nearby, but was not paying close attention to where he was, exactly. Part of the Senshi of Medicine wanted to talk to someone else, and part of her kind of just wanted to be left alone for the moment, really.
But it was more difficult to ignore him as he addressed her, then jumped down to join her on the sidewalk. Asclepius stopped walking and studied him for a moment, then shook her head.
"A little cold, but it's kind of refreshing," she conceded, arms still crossed. "And not tracking. Just patrolling." Walking around out here counted as patrolling, right? Even if she was not hunting anything. "Why? Did you feel any youma nearby?" Asclepius was fairly sure she could not feel any, but she was not fully sure her senses were foolproof just yet.

Huffing, Pollux didn't think too hard about what he was doing next, that action being- "I'm not a fan of the cold, come inside, it's not-" He thought about the space. "Well, frankly it's a dirty mess but until I can get some work done on a free night, it's safe and the space heater is running." A shrug as hands ran up and down his arms. "Sorry cold just- not my favorite thing. And no, I'm not sensing any youma. If I did I would be leading them away from this area."
Looking at the senshi up and down he paused. Parts of her fuku seemed to be themed but..it was still basic. And he was still at a loss. "Sorry." He offered a hand with a nod of his head. "Pollux, frost. Haven't really been doing this thing for very long, but so far I'm not dead and haven't been in the hospital. I'm told this makes me rather one of the privileged few. I'm honestly assuming it'll just be a matter of time." Another motion to the door. "Sorry, again, mild cold or not I...avoid it. And no." He sighed. "The fact I detest the cold when my power relies on it is not lost on me."

"Inside?" she repeated, her eyes trailing up the storefronts to the boarded windows on the second floors. "You have a safe house or something here?" Or she hoped it was a sort of safe house for senshi, and not that he actually lived here on this block. "I guess ... if you need help cleaning up, I have a bit of time to spare tonight." Further avoiding any battles with youma was nice, and if he did have some sort of safe house, then it would be good to know precisely where.
The girl accepted his handshake and nodded in reply. "Ah, Ascleipus, medicine," she replied. "I ... haven't really had much fighting experience, either, but I have been at this for a few months. So I guess that makes us both lucky." She, too, was also figuring that it was only a matter of time before she really ended up getting hurt or something.
A small smile tugged at one corner of her mouth at his comments on cold as she started towards the door he indicated. "I guess I'm also lucky in that I was already studying medicine when I got this extra job." Asclepius hesitated a moment before conceding, "I'm not much a fan of the fighting, but I like to think that the senshi have need of a doctor, too."

"Or something I think would be how to best describe it." The walls were plain, one side bare brick, the other across just easily enough to see was brick as well, only painted a off white. Recent too. The far wall was simple drywall and probably added to just create walls, rather than one solid room. Some trash and broken bits of furniture was piled in a corner, and a dirty sheet covered what one could safely assume was a couch. A medical kit sat to the back on the side, almost hidden from view, but the fact it had a crack in the plastic said it had probably been thrown against a wall at some point.
By all accounts it should have been cold, but that wasn't the case. A space heater was running, keeping the room dry and free of the outside chill. Dust and dirt and god knew what else was on the floor. "So far, it's safe...but sanitary or sound it's not. Not yet anyway. I can't hire a contractor since that would be traceable. So it ends up being buy everything with cash and do it myself." A shrug of 'what can you do'. "This plus patrol, plus our work in the real world...I wonder how we manage to do."
The stray cat who had become the resident mouse and rat killer sat atop the stairs, a loud meow given before vanishing into the shadows. "So far it's safe, and that is what matters. I went to the others. Drug addicts, pimps and whores...disgusting hives where we might as well risk HIV from some crack head's exposed needle. Not keen on them, so I got this place under a few different names. Took calling in a few favors, but, no one can find it and link it back with ease."
Walking behind the couch, Pollux opened a cooler, pulling out some bottled water. "The tap is broken." Only explanation he gave before offering one to her. "So." Blue eyes bore into the other senshi. "You've been at this for a while. What is your take on the situation?"

Asclepius surveyed the room as they entered, a small frown touching her lips at the state of the place. Pollux had a good point, about not wanting to leave a paper trail, and she felt him on the subject of time constraints. She wondered for a moment what it was he did out of uniform; it sounded like he knew at least a bit of business, at least, if he had already considered contractors and such. The girl opened her mouth to offer the suggestion of going out in senshi form with cash to offer some of the people of the neighborhood a bit of work cleaning the place out but ... on second thought, it might be difficult to get them all to leave. And it might be better if fewer people knew that senshi were working here.
Best to prevent this place from turning into all of the others, she thought, lip curling slightly at Pollux's description of his prior experiences with safehouses.
Nodding, the Senshi of Medicine accepted the bottle of water, and went back to looking around, trying to decide how she might arrange things were she in charge. "I've been working mostly on my own," she replied, gaze returning to meet the other senshi's. "I've heard some about the teams, and I was there for that enormous battle with the giant youma, but I don't know." The girl shrugged, taking a sip of water from the bottle before twisting the cap back on and crossing her arms. "I've been by myself more or less.
"I could give you a hand here, though, I guess, if you'd like," Asclepius went on. "I have some resources of my own." A pause, then she inquired, "Are you working with anyone else here?"

Pollux read her reaction as 'I think your place doesn't suck but it is still gross.' Which he would give her. So long as she didn't dis on his color of wall choice. It was for the fact lighting sucked. "Same. I've been invited to team up, but..." An arbitrary shrug. "I don't think it to be in my best interests or theirs." The bottle water was opened and he took a few sips, listening. The giant youma? It seemed that even those cut out of mainstream knew. Was Asclepius mainstream? Eh, who could say. Senshi were no easier to read than any other human being.
"Same more or less. Teams I hear about, but as for seeing, encountering, none. More or less I just run across someone else and help out for the night. Or I try to help someone, often resulting in being called a terrorist or 'ruffian' if they're older than 70." A smirk as he recalled that particular pet rescue. Looking at the mess he capped his bottle and threw it on the couch, walking over and picking up large broom from the rubbish pile. "I have one broom, and one tool kit. Take your pick. But no." Pollux's face was rather passive. "No one else. I suppose...I'd be willing to allow other senshi to come, but not ones I do not know, or, large groups. Apparently the more of us gather, the more magic we sent out or something. It's why my brother drives out before he 'henshins'." Fingers even formed quotes.

Nodding, the girl moved towards the tool box, but paused before opening it and looked around. "Where are trash bags? Might be easier to sweep around and all once more of the clutter is gone." In spite of the poor lighting in the room, her eyes caught the glint of broken glass edges among the things strewn about the floor. "Also, do you have gardening gloves or something?"
Asclepius had helped at various volunteer clean-ups of various facilities before; it was not beneath her to pick up trash or to scrub out dog kennels. True, doing so in her senshi skirts felt a little weird, but, well. What could she do in her seifuku that did not feel weird?
She looked back to him and smiled politely, saying, "Well, thank you for inviting me in. I have tests coming up for classes, but I can try to help out here when I can." The brown-haired girl nudged some pieces of something into a small pile with her toe on the floor, but was reluctant to touch them with her bare hands. "Do you have keys or something?" Asclepius imagined he would have to, to keep just anyone from wandering in.

"One sec." Bending over, Pollux began to look under parts of the sheet where they hand been bundled, finally finding a pair of overly large craftsman gloves. "Only pair I have. Sorry I don't have anymore." Looking around, he kept listening. Apparently he had trash bags, but in a lack of foresight they were hidden somewhere. Probably upstairs or in a corner off to the side.
"Don't worry much about it, I assume whatever tests you're taking are more important than cleaning, much less then patrolling." Ah ah, bags found, and yes, the corner hidden out of main sight. He needed to install a few shelves. Or just bring a supply bin. Bulling out one of the black bags, he didn't hesitate to just start picking up the larger bits and tossing them in.
"....Keys are.." His warning bells were going off. He'd invested a bit into this place, and to trust a random unknown senshi... Still. That was the whole point wasn't it? A haven for senshi? "Outside on both the roof and front door, there is a cut out false panel, in it is a key. Those are for emergency use only. The main keys are two doors down, on the side wall on the inside of a plant. Use those. Less likely for someone to relate the keys to this building." Was Pollux paranoid? Slightly, but you almost had to be these days.

Taking the gloves, Asclepius thanked him and shrugged, pulling them on. "These are fine, just as long as their tough." Taking care to keep her knees together, she crouched and arranged her skirts, then stared working on sweeping up the unidentified litter up with her hands and picking the larger bits up.
"I figure it can only help if I know how to be a nurse," she replied, pausing between handfuls of junk to be sure the sound of clanking whatever going into the garbage bag would not overshadow her voice. "I'll see about picking up some more medical supplies if I can, though..." the senshi trailed off for a moment, frowning. "I wouldn't be able to get anything requiring a prescription or anything like that. Have to keep my job at the hospital. But I should be able to buy things for sure."
He was understandably reluctant to tell her about the keys, since they had just met, but she nodded when he told her, doing her best to commit the locations to memory. Maybe she could check the plant two doors down on her way out, just so she would know that spot by sight for next time. "Thank you," she told him, pausing in her junk-sweeping to offer a small but sincere smile.
"Oh," Asclepius went on a moment later as a thought struck her. "Do you have a to-do list for here, maybe to pin up on the wall?" She glanced around just in case. "Just so I know what else you might need if I come by here and you're not around?" Her lips twisted slightly into a vaguely disgusted frown as most of a broken whiskey bottle stuck slightly to her glove on the way into the garbage bag.

Pollux gave her a smile. A real one, not some half bake smirk or grin, but a nice, genuine smile. No pearly whites, but a smile was a smile. The idea of someone on the senshi side actually using their skills to help others in ways that didn't involve beating something or someone up. "I'm sorry to say my own skills are more geared towards running a business. Management, customer service, sitting on board meetings and calling up people and trying to understand them in a language you both are not..fluent in. Thankfully it gets better with time." the crash of piece of metal falling off of it's rotted holdings. Pollux's face twisted for a second in mild disgust. Mold, he'd be bleaching everything for sure. That or power washing.
"The medical kit I have..if you could put anything in it that would help, and just give me any receipts if you buy anything. I can repay you easily enough. As for a list- s**t." Again, he was looking. A small red tint on his face. "Sorry, I'm not usually so unorganized." Plus he didn't typically invite people into places that were so...well, broken. Picking up the small notebook and pen he'd left on the stairs, Pollux walked back. The sight of the broken whiskey botten also earning a look of disgust from him. "THAT, isn't my work. I'm much more a wine over dinner person. probably left over from who knows what. But yes-" He held up the note pad. "I can easily jot down some things later for if you stop by. You can also leave lists of things you need me to purchase." He looked at the walls. "Like a cork board."
Throwing the notebook onto the couch he returned to helping pick up some of the larger pieces. "...Thank you. For being willing to help that is."

The girl twitched slightly in surprise at the unexpected clatter of metal, then nodded to Pollux. "Are any of us really cut out for this work, though? I guess we just have to do what we can. Hopefully there's enough room for all our strengths. And I will say you seem to be more organized than ... I guess basically any of the others I've met so far."
Asclepius shook her head at mention of receipts. "Oh, it's fine, I have plenty of money to spare, I promise," she assured him. "It wouldn't kill me to spend some on our war."
She laughed a little. "Oh, I figured it wasn't yours," the girl replied as she shook her hand until the bottle came free and clinked softly into the bag. Fortunately the other half of the bottle was not quite so sticky on the outside. "And sure, I'll add if I can think of anything." Hazel eyes scanned the walls. "Maybe a couple cork boards, and several more cans of paint, too."
After a few more handfuls of detritus went into the garbage bag, the senshi of Medicine sat back on her heels. "Oh, it's fine." She glanced back to Pollux again. "Glad I could help. Glad to see something organized for us senshi."

He chuckled. "I'm related to one of the most powerful senshi yet he probably couldn't navigate his way out of a paper bag, let alone organize. No, I hold all the good genes on that front. I'd say looks as well but that would be far too egotistical, even for me." The bag was getting heavy now, and some of the bigger remnants needed a proper bin rather than a plastic bag.
"But I insist you let me pay you back. It's my building and technically, my medical kit. If more senshi start coming by we can set up some sort of medical fund jar for restocking." He let her do as she pleased, going to the notebook and adding her recommendations down. "Management is key to any successful enterprise. To be frank we lack it. This will be at the very least a small contribution I suppose will aid us...so long as it doesn't end up like the other safe havens we have scattered about. I mean really? The back of a brothel?" Rubbing the back of his head his bangs were coming loose. "I don't enjoy having to constantly retreat to the red light district."
Still he couldn't dismiss their full usefulness in emergencies. If he approved of them or not, Pollux didn't say more on it. He just opened his phone and gave Asclepius a scan. "Pardon. I should have asked. But, thank you." He was much more relaxed now then he was earlier. Motioning to the smaller pile of junk, he walked to the door almost as if readying to open the door for her. It wasn't that he wanted to kick her out, he just was that formal. "I can take it from here. You going to head out for the night?"

"Oh?" she looked up at the mention of a more powerful senshi. "Who is your relative?" She doubted she had met whomever it was, but there were quite a few names she had heard floating around to which she had not linked a face.
"I would say organization is its own form of power," Asclepius went on, turning her attention back to the bag. She dropped a few more handfuls of rubbish into it, then carefully stood, holding the opening upright as she examined the exterior of the plastic bag. All those pieces of wood and broken glass had managed not to pierce the flimsy outside yet, but it would probably just be a matter of time.
Then, at the sound of his phone scanning her, she glanced over and shook her head. "Oh, no, it's fine. I'll get you back as soon as this is taken care of...." Asclepius trailed off, looking around. "It'll probably need another bag, or a plastic bin if you have one, just to be sure nothing tears through."
Carefully, she lifted the bag off of the floor, and moved it over next to the doorway. Then she tugged the gloves off and laid them on the couch's covered arm rest. Then Asclepius produced her own phone and scanned Pollux into it.
"Castor, right? Your relative?" she asked suddenly, a small smile tugging at the corner of her mouth. "Castor and Pollux? Just like my cat apparently thought it would be funny to make me the Senshi of Medicine?"
She moved to the door as he went for the handle, taking the hint from his words that her help had been welcome but that it probably was about time for her to head home. "Oh, sure. I'll see what I can bring back next time, but I should probably get home and get some sleep soon anyway." Asclepius glanced at him and quirked a brow. "And it sounds like you are probably busy in your mundane life, as well, so please make sure you get some rest, yourself."
