These past weeks were not what Nemesis would describe as... the best of times. There had been too many losses, too few victories, and it was hard to keep the sound of impending doom from knocking on the front door of her brain. If Nemesis couldn't get stronger, couldn't prepare herself, she was sure she was going to end up dead. There were worse fates, like corruption, but death was still not a pretty end when she was so young... when there was just so much s**t to do. Nemesis couldn't trust a quarter of the senshi side to actually save the world.

Most senshi were too young, too inexperienced. If they didn't learn quick, they would be picked off. The BMC helped a little, by offering a large group of protection... but it was not a pretty faction. It wasn't for senshi with weak stomachs, or senshi with sickeningly happy dispositions. New senshi couldn't be relied on for jack s**t, and by the time they matured into super or eternal senshi they had settled into their own paths. Some didn't want to fight, some still couldn't...

The only person she could trust to get s**t done was herself.

Nemesis was going back to her roots a little bit, patrolling without any real plan. She'd find some youma, dust them, and if she found a Negaverser... well, she'd dust them. They'd do the same to her, so Nemesis was only going to be returning the favor. The Senshi of Decay turned down an alleyway, by now she knew the streets at night better than she knew them by day. Now would be a good time to climb to a rooftop or something of a vantage point, but there was something nostalgic about bumbling around in the ********, she had been a bit stupid when she was first awakened. How she ever got s**t accomplished was beyond her.

One day Pollux might find patrolling and bumping around in ally ways a good old past time. Right now, it was his job. He would roam aimlessly for a few hours, occasionally fighting some thug or gang member, or hell maybe find a crack dealer to beat up. Beating up dealers and trashing their 'goods' in front of them was kind of fun in a rather twisted way. Tonight was more relaxed. Yeah, saved a girl from getting mugged, called a terrorist, managed to evade pepper spray into his face. Good times, being called names when you had just saved someone's life.

Work with no rewards, sounded like he was 7 again and being told to do a chore, and nope, not proverbial ice cream, just an endless cycle of 'do this or else'. The 'or else' being having Castor ride his a** about 'what being a senshi means'. Grumbling, eyes downcast on his once white, not grime covered boots, He didn't notice the woman coming around the corner.

Well, not until he had the grace to crash into her, curse loudly, and then gaze at her outfit, face bland. Her energy blared out at him. Weaker then Castor's stronger then Themis. Also asswings. 'A sure sign of an eternal'. Wait...Ripped fuku. Skeletons. Two braids. Bitchface. "You wouldn't be a...Sailor Nemesis by any chance would you?" He was told to run, that this girl was batshit and would ******** his s**t up.

Pollux tended to ignore at lot of what Castor said anyway.

So, she really couldn't be blamed for missing Pollux's power signature, considering that it was so small compared to what she was now used to. Yeah, she was going with that excuse this evening. There was no possible way she'd say it was because she flat out wasn't paying attention. Why would she be looking for another senshi tonight when there were Negaversers and Youma to be on the look-out for? "What the flying ********," she grumbled, taking a few steps back to put some distance between herself and Random Idiot She Met On The Street 146. At least they didn't completely bulldoze one another over, or Nemesis would be pissed enough to wring his neck with her glowtastic hands.

She was going to snap at him, say something about how she didn't have time to really deal with a newbie. Nemesis was known for helping new senshi just enough for it to be considered something nice, then be a total a b***h and leave them to fend for themselves. What? She had done it, so they should be able to as well. Figuring s**t out for herself, she thought, made her that much more stronger.

But, this newbie happened to know who she was, and he wouldn't have been able to figure that out without someone bitching about her in his ear (Nemesis never assumed that any gossip about her was positive). With a sigh, she flattened the folds of her skirt, deciding whether she wanted to walk away now before she got tangled in conversation. Whatever. "Eternal Sailor Nemesis, yes. Who told you about me? If what they said was all bad s**t, I'd like to know who they are so I can remind them of why the spread nasty rumors about me." Maybe it was that Chaonis senshi - they hadn't gotten along at all.

Crap. It would be just his luck to run into the one who would have the reputation for tormenting senshi. And apparent desire to kill Castor. But killing Castor was understandable, he was like that. You hated him, or, you didn't. Pollux just assumed most hated, given senshi were often female and he could only imagine their first encounters with him being anything but pleasant. Something Pollux was determined not to copy from his mock twin's example. Now to just make sure this girl didn't punch his face in.

Arms crossed and Pollux sighed. "Someone who told me that if I saw you to run the other way because as he put it 'she will rape your face and kick you in the balls forever.'" Pollux shrugged. "My brother," he used finger quotes for the name, "Prince' Castor, and if you feel like beating him up I'm not inclined to stopping you, chances are he deserves it. My only request is make sure he doesn't end up dead. It would kind of ruin my plans. As to where you might find him, he's not out tonight, he's with his fiance." Eyes rolled.

Uncrossing his arms, Pollux extended a hand. "Sorry, I've not introduced myself. Pollux, senshi of Frost. Awakened not to long ago, so forgive me if I lack a bit of the senshi knowledge and skills. Being told is vastly different then putting one's skill to practice." He didn't want to make enemies. Especially eternal senshi who could scare the piss out of others. No, he would much rather get on their good side. Or at least the not face rape side.

The look on Nemesis' face should have clued Pollux into the fact that he should not have introduced himself as Castor's brother. Whatever hopes there were of getting out of this encounter unscathed were dwindling fast, as Nemesis' expression turned from irritated to unamused. Very few wanted to be on the receiving end of her 'not amused' look. "That does sound like Castor, b***h deserved it, too. Tried to hit on me... and didn't quite realize that I don't take that s**t." She had paralyzed him, and then kicked him between the legs. Nemesis had considered the events of that night to be fruitful. She put someone in their place for a little bit.

"Ugh, prince. If I have to see him again, I'm never going to hear the end of it. Wait. Waaaiit. Fiance? He stopped chasing tail long enough to trick someone into marrying him?" Well, she was certainly out of the loop. Nemesis really doubted that this meant he would change his ways. Old dogs could not learn new tricks.

Pollux was, surprisingly, not beaten or dead yet. He had just given her permission (not like she needed it) to beat his brother up. Nemesis had no idea if he was just trying to wiggle into good terms with her, but if he was trying, it was working. Fine, she wouldn't resolve to scare him. Nemesis would leave Pollux's fate pretty open for now. "Eternal Sailor Nemesis, Senshi of Decay," she introduced herself, even though he knew who she was. She just wanted to emphasize the eternal bit, as in, she was bigger and badder than he was.

After a few moments of consideration, she reached out to take his hand, shaking it quickly. "Eh, we're all that way when we're first Awakened. If you're lucky, you'll survive long enough to learn a thing or to. I spent a few good weeks pretending like I knew what I was doing, and I still managed to hand it to your brother. Huh, I'm impressed with myself."

Her face did speak volumes. Those volumes were bound in the skin of virgins and the ink of babies and it was all printed in helvetica. Pollux was slowly coming to realize his brother's warning had been rather spot on in his assessment of how the senshi of decay could instill a very unique form of fear into you. She had the air of air of someone who was born to just be that way, and Pollux didn't want to bait the beast lurking under the skin of the eternal. "Tricked or drugged, they're about as sublet as an atomic bomb with their constant affections. On a good day he'll just not talk about her for a few hours. Mostly, he is constantly mooning over her, and just-" Rubbing his temples, Pollux wanted to gag thinking about them. "Consider yourself blessed in the fact he's terrified of you and would likely run the other way if he saw you, 'prince' or not. I however, am not so lucky."

His expression twitched a smirk thinking of how it must have been to see his brother beaten for his once flirty attitude. "My brother was always rather...special. I'm glad you put him him in his place. Honestly, he needed all the kicked in the a** he could get back then due to the way he acted. Got in into more than my fair share of trouble for his rule breaking." A pause as Pollux's gaze ran over Nemesis. "You know..." He smirked. "Next time you see him you ought to say hello." Hint hint, please do ******** up my brother's day hint.

A shrug. "But, I get ahead of myself. I'm trying to figure out this whole..senshi bit. Personally I don't understand why we come out here only to get attacked, sometimes by the people we save no less." A scowl. "You save a girl from getting mugged and what does she do? Attempt to get you pepper spray. Save an older gentleman from a youma? He calls police saying you attacked him. I didn't 'suit up' to deal with bullshit."
Pollux pouted. "I suit up because I am supposed to."

He pouted hard. "Not my job to make the world glitter and sparkle and shoot rainbows out my a**. I just want to be able to have one day of my life where I can wake up and not have to deal with another phone call about so and so seeing ******** monsters and crap."

Slowly Nemesis was falling under the impression that Pollux was the better brother. Why couldn't Pollux have been the brother she met first? In fact, why couldn't Pollux be a prince senshi over Castor. Really, she'd take anybody over Castor, but was secretly hoping that some divine entity recognized the brotherly connection and realized it would be easy to switch their places. Nemesis had asked for divine intervention plenty of times, needless to say, there had been no divine intervening and Nemesis was losing hope altogether. "******** sick. I'm glad I don't run in to him any more, I'm sure he'd make me vomit. And then I'd have to eat a sandwich just so I could vomit again to properly demonstrate the amount of disgust I hold towards him and his relationship."

So far, so good. Nemesis wasn't attacking Pollux, and Pollux wasn't doing anything terribly stupid to piss her off. "Well, obviously you were slacking in your own duties to put him in his place, so I had to step in. If he's stupid enough to run into me, I'll show off my new attack. He will love it." The emphasis on the word 'love' only spoke wonders about how much he would not love getting to experience her attack. But, secretly she hoped he gave her a good enough reason to use it on him. Or, really, she didn't need a reason, but it would make her look better if she had one.

Usually, Nemesis would not extend her aid to newbie senshi. Ares had enough of a hard time getting Nemesis to take interest in the cadets. Really, there were other Mercenaries more suited to weaning the baby senshi off their bottles. Nemesis had more important s**t to attend to. "Most of us find our own reasons. I fight, because I refuse to see my family live in a world ruled by ******** Queen Beryl. You can refuse to fight, refuse to power up, but honestly I don't feel like anyone can get s**t done besides me. So I'm out here fighting, killing evil, saving damsels in distress." Nemesis shrugged her shoulders - there were more reasons why she fought, but she didn't need to drown him in them. "You just need to find your own reason for fighting. Don't fight because someone tells you that you should. You'll never feel right with yourself..."

Wait.

Was this...

Motivational speaking?

The twitch at the corner of Nemesis' mouth may have indicated that she realized in that moment that she was helping the brother of someone she despised. "If you don't want to power up, don't. You'll probably get killed if you don't devote yourself to your cause. In the beginning, I just fought because I was told to, and it was really only with luck I got by. Right now, the Negaverse is stronger - they kill the strong, corrupt the weak. You don't have time to be wishy washy on things."
PostPosted: Thu May 05, 2011 1:33 am

If Pollux had more of his brother's nature he might attempt at flirting with Nemesis, thankfully the trait was not shared. And Pollux was far smart enough to not attempt such a thing. That wasn't to say he wouldn't make the grossed out face at the idea of induced vomiting. "You'd be damaging your teeth with stomach acid, hardly worth it for someone like him. No, he's not worth it. Save your body and the sandwich for something worth it, like the idea of a Justina Beaver Concert."

He shuddered. So many levels of evil existed in this world. That was one of them.

Still, shuddering at the idea of band singers aside, Pollux listened to Nemesis explain her reasons for fighting, remaining silent. Her own reasons made his seem selfish, but when wasn't he? "Refusing seems like it would be a waste. I have power, might as well use it....but you make a valid point. Powering up for the sake of it, from orders...a bit lacking in motivational department. " He smiled at her, a bit like his brother did, just a hair darker. "Even if it is lovely to watch idiots slip and fall on their a** when trying to run after they rob someone, that s**t hasn't gotten old yet." Popping his wrist, Pollux sighed. "I guess it'll take me a while to get use to this s**t. If anything I'm glad to know we have someone like you around, at very least will keep us newbie on our toes...and my brother. I can't dislike someone who can made him wince by name alone."

"Thanks for the concern," she answered, a smile flickering life onto her face. Pollux was right - Castor wasn't worth losing her stomach over. There were far greater fiends out there that deserved to cause her that much discomfort. Castor was little fish, and Justina Beaver was big fish. Pollux was definitely moving from her Dislike list to her Like list. If she thought it'd bother Castor to have his brother hanging out with her, she would have put him onto her Like list a whole lot sooner.

Nemesis shrugged her shoulders, and after a few seconds moved to lean up against the building's side wall. It was grungy and slightly stomach-churning, but the action showed that she wasn't going to decay his face off. Look! Nemesis was being somewhat friendly. "It would be a waste to refuse, but I wouldn't blame you too hard. I find it more disturbing when people fight just to fight, with no real reason to back up why they're in this war." Nemesis didn't bother to get herself involved with human crime, humans could deal with the messes they made. Nemesis, felt, in some part, that the Negaverse was their mess to take care of. They had magic and weapons that humans couldn't ever make themselves. They were the bigger threat, and so they had all of Nemesis' attention.

"It takes a while for any of us to get used to what is going on, and really, you never really get used to it." Again that smirk crossed onto her face. "I do my best to keep everyone who isn't in a constant state of terror on their toes anyways. Castor is just someone in particular I'd love to beat up every time I see him."

She relaxed on the wall and Pollux well a wave of relief. Did she scare him that much? Maybe. Nemesis certain carried an air about her that screamed threatening and at worst, dangerous. Her lowering her guard got Pollux doing the same, letting him breathe a sigh of relief he didn't realize he'd been holding in. "I aim to please, or, at very least to avoid making the same mistakes he made. God knows he earned a right many of them for his antics." Sighing, so much sighing and face palming when Elzo had told him of just about all his escapades while he was a senshi.

"Hrm. Time will tell who the winner is in the end. History is after all, written by the winners." While relaxed he didn't make any move to join her, letting the senshi of decay have her space as he had his own. She was an...acquaintance. He'd be far to bold to assume he could buddy up to her. "I for one, plan on seeing thing to the end at the very least. When I start something I intend to finish it, one way or another. Half assing something doesn't sit well. Even if I haven't found a good enough reason to fight, I'm not about to just drop it."

He looked at he, curious as to her thoughts. Then a smile. "Sounds like you have your own resolve to see this through. That I can admire." The smile got a little wide. "Plus the plans to beat up Castor are always good."

"You should have been the senshi first, and I imagine he'd be mildly less annoying. That and we could both put him in his place the moment he acted up." It was amusing, thinking back to when Castor had been not-so strong. Why didn't Nemesis take the chance back then when she had it to completely mess his s**t up? Now that she was eternal, and he was... prince, that would be harder to do. At least she could instill some fear into him. That was something to be proud of.

"I'm sure a reason to fight will come to you. If one doesn't, I do doubt you'll stick this out to the end, and maybe that's for the better. There are plenty of senshi that I believe shouldn't be involved in this war. They aren't ready, they don't want to. Their following some sense of obligation blindly, and quite frankly, it pisses me off." Nemesis was settling into her place in this war, and it aggravated her to see so many others struggling. All those senshi who joined the BMC and then realized that it wasn't what they had expected or wanted... all the senshi now who were just doing what they were told to do, every last one of them irritated her. They weren't the Negaverse, they didn't do s**t just because they were told to.

"Dude, if I could make every patrol your brother goes on absolutely miserable for him, my life's goal would be complete. I could die happy. Right now, I could die being really pissed off that I was being killed before I got s**t done." Her dedication was a clear, if not vicious, force. Nemesis would be seeing this battle through to the end, no matter what happened.
PostPosted: Thu Jun 09, 2011 2:07 pm

He laughed at that, an honest and true laugh. "Had I been first I think he'd probably still have done a majority of what he did. He's...special like that." Pollux rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. "I like to say he's gotten better at keeping his antics to a bare minimum but then I tend to get them at full blast at work. The magic of family knows no limits, not even ones made apparently involving actual magic and incredible bending of scientific laws and theories." Magic that could bend human understanding and previous notations. If he didn't have the power himself he'd call bullshit. Smoke and mirrors. But- it was a part of him, just as much as Castor was. Yet another fact he'd never understand, or escape from. "But hey, next time- and lets both be honest there will be a next time- I'll give you a ring."

Her anger was...not very surprising in a way. He had those sorts of thoughts about people he saw working in his office. Day in day out, living lives in a rather miserable fashion when they could do better for themselves. Yet they remained for no reason than blind obligation to the company. "Sometimes you are given a role and don't think to try and change it." He'd been born an unwanted second son, and had become his brother's keeper. It had been his role, and for much of his life, he'd done little to change it. "But one day, you might wake up and think that it isn't what you want anymore, you move and go beyond that. I did once." He picked at dirt under his finger nail, a smirk on his features. "One choice I made for myself, and I've yet to truly regret it."

A quick fishing into his sash produced two objects. A small pen, and a small notebook. Jolting a few numbers down, he ripped the paper off and handed it to her. "Give me a call sometime. I'm sure I can arrange you and my brother to have a...play date." Evil smile of sibling antics, was that the expression her had? Most definitely. "But I do implore you not to die. I'd hate to not have someone around who can keep my brother on his toes."

"Speeciaal," Nemesis emphasized to Pollux with a small curl of her lips. That was a word that definitely needed some emphasis when it came to describing Castor. She imagined that his life as a young senshi was spent stumbling about trying to get laid over saving the world. His list of priorities were all sorts out of whack. What a tragedy it had to be to be born his brother. Delphine would take Damon over Castor any day. "That will also be one hell of a nice ring," she supplied him.

Her chin lifted, eyes gazing up into the night sky with an almost thoughtful expression. It was about as much thinking as Nemesis was likely to do. "We've been given a role, a role I think that very few senshi ever manage to evade. Yet, the key is making your own way. I will never be anything but a senshi, but what kind of senshi is entirely up to me. I find that the decisions you make are always better than the decisions that are made for you." Nemesis didn't quite look like someone who'd take to being bossed around. She chose her own leaders, and if those leaders failed her she would move on. Change was the last thing she feared.

"I think I am the last person who will die in this war, I'm way too ******** stubborn to die." Normally accepting phone numbers from other people wasn't her thing, but Pollux was probably the most bearable senshi she had met in a long while. She was going to give him a chance. At the very least they could antagonize Castor together, and that was something that she'd never pass up. "Will do, and you too, on the dying thing. It's far more likely you'll die than me. Uh, well, maybe. I suppose you don't have as many enemies."

Oh, the joy of being a newbie. Somehow Nemesis still couldn't wish to go back to those days. Taking the page and folding it neatly, she waved a half-hearted good bye and began the trek back home. It was a little too late to continue hunting youma.
