Walking along the ridge of a cliff the golden haired mare moved towards the place she had been instructed to travel to. There she would be meeting with Pirata to attend another lesson that the older mare had planned. There had been many such lessons in her life, the first one of which occurred as she had freed herself from her wicker basket and continued even to this point. Some lessons were repeated so to better drive home the point and others only needed to be taught once. One particular lesson had been ingrained into her mind from the beginning and that was to never question anything Pirata or her Master said. Questioning was for the weak, unless it was a valid question that helped to solidify that portion of the training.

Visits from her Master were rare yet when he did come to check on her progress She-Ra did everything that he asked of and looked upon his as her true mentor. One day she would be as strong and powerful as him, but for now she lived in his shadow and served as his loyal minion whenever needed. Master would not be along for some time now, days perhaps even weeks before his next visit, which left her in the company of her other mentor Pirata. There was much she had learned from the spider loving mare, and while Pirata had raised her She-Ra never considered her as a mother. It worked out well as Pirata did not look upon her as a daughter either, but more a project and at some times a pet.

A strong wind blew along the ridge as she made her way to the designated spot. It was from here that they had a vantage point of lands around them, where they could look down upon the unworthy. Due to this particular spot being the place of their meeting She-Ra knew what the lesson would reflect upon. Bringing her hooves to a stop the mare looked out across the lands from her cliff top position. Down there, in those meadows, forests and rivers were those whom she would one day help her master destroy and enslave.

Turning her eyes away from the home of the lesser beings She-Ra looked down the path that no doubt Pirata would be walking up any moment now. Her lesson would start very soon and she was ready to accept the 'words of wisdom' that the spider mare would impart upon her.

Pirata wasn't always fond of these trips abroad - for the most part she preferred to spend her time in seclusion with her spiders in their swampy domain...but once in a while she ventured out of her paradise so that she might share some of her vast wisdom with her latest project - She-ra.

Well the mare wasn't entirely her project, she was in fact the project of another but she had been left in Pirata's care and the spider mare took some amusement in molding her in the appropriate ways. It was a delightful project really - to corrupt such a young and innocent looking mare, to make her heart beat only for darkness. Delightful and amusing and perfect - even if she'd had to endure the mares younger foal years and ensure she didn't starve to death or anything of the sort, a bothersome task but it would be worth it in the end she supposed when she got to sit back and watch the mare lay waste to all the wretches at her masters commands.

She took her time in working her way up the hillside to the place she had told the mare to meet her - she was late of course but patience was a valuable lesson in and of itself and it amused Pirata to make the mare wait. Sometimes she showed up early and berated the other for being slow...just to keep her on her toes. TOday would hold no such joys however for the golden haired Soquilli had indeed made it to the vantage point.

"Good..good, you found your way" She remarked upon spying the mare. The spider riding on her shoulder drummed its legs a bit and Pirata shushed the beast "Hush darling...She'ra will hunt a treat for you later" She told the creature, extending her muzzle so that the spider's legs pattered across her muzzle for a few moments before she turned her many eyes upon the subject of todays lesson. "What do you see?"

There she was, her mentor and the one who had ensured her survival as a foal. Those days were a somewhat distant memory, though there were a few memories that stuck with her. The main one was something that happened several times during her foalhood. She remembered the first day those spiders of Pirata had decided to try her out for a snack. At first it had just been one of the small ones that crawled upon the young foal and then after a few moments sunk it's fangs into her flesh. Though she had yelped in pain Pirata had done nothing to stop it. Then the spiders slowly began to gather upon She-Ra, biting her over and over. The pain back then had been intense and for a time She-Ra believed that Pirata would allow her spiders to feast upon the foal.

But no it wasn't meant to be, and through what seemed like extreme reluctance and disappointment the dark mare called off her spiders and even helped to clean the wounds. That was her first real lesson in how to deal with pain, not just to experience pain but how to ignore it and make it work for not against her. It was also then that she learned any disobedience would lead to her demise. Her loyalty to the spider mare was sealed that day and shortly after that so was her loyalty to her master. Of course it turned out that, several days later when Pirata explained it to her, the reason she did not pull the spiders off right away was to test to see how worthy of a disciple she would be. Apparently she had done well, for though she cried out in pain she had not kicked, rolled or done anything at all to rid herself of the arachnids and that had shown great discipline and courage.

Pirata's precious little pets were always placed higher on the priority than She-Ra, yet that never bothered the golden haired mare. Today was no such exception as the spider upon the mares shoulder pulled Pirata's attention away before any words could be exchanged the two. "Voracious little devil isn't it." She said in a neutral face, not particularly caring for or hating the creatures, if they needed food then she would of course fetch it for them. "Of course I will fetch him whatever he desires once we are through." She-Ra said with a slight nod of her head, but now it was on to business.

Turning her gaze to where Pirata's was the golden haired mare looked down upon today's subject. "Weak blood, those who think happiness and families is the best reason to live. They do not see the way that it should be." As her eyes turned back to Pirata a bit of a devious smile crossed her maw. "They would make excellent slaves for the Master...or perhaps a snack for your pets. Either way they are far more useful to us that way than prancing about in grassy fields." She could only hope that soon she would be able to round up several slaves and perhaps sacrifices for Pirata and Master, as that would please them both greatly. The sooner she could get those lazy Soquili into her Masters clutches the better.

Pirata cast an adoring look back at her spider before answering She-ra's remark upon them. "As all predators should be" She told the pale mare in a matter of fact voice before moving up to stand beside her, multiple eyes focused on the land below, muzzle wrinkling slightly in disgust as She-ra described the beasts below. It was sadly all to true - this land was populated by unworthy heathens, creatures who spent their days gallivanting about the forests and meadows on some pointless quest for peace or happiness or whatever other weak little goal filled their minds on that given day.

Really they were quite fickle creatures, endlessly changing their mind and grasping at nebulous goals that never got them anywhere. It was sad..and pointless and Pirata had come to believe it would soon be the end of everything. Of course She-ra had only given part of the answer and so Pirata endeavored to handle the rest. "Partially true" The spider mare told her ward, her voice tinged ever so faintly with approval. "What you see before you is waste" She supplied "Uselessness and waste, These gentle creatures are so busy finding 'happiness' that they fail to even consider the foals they will produce...so they multiply like pests - each generation weaker and less useful the last" She spat out the words in distaste.

"It might not be so bad if they were truly like pests and scurried off into the dark to live in the horrible places no one else wanted - like proper heathens - but no these ones choose the best lands on which to continue their downward spiral, they have come to outnumber the strong and so hold on to such lands by numbers alone..and if they continue..well I weep for the future of our kind" Pirata told the mare, making sure to add a good deal of weary sorrow to her voice as she did so.

Of course She-Ra could not fully understand the way of predators. Yes she would hunt food for Pirata's spiders when it was needed, however she herself did not hunt for sustenance and could only fathom the need to constantly be in search of food that moved and on several occasions fought back. Grass, which filled her belly and kept her alive, was so readily available that it did not require any effort to acquire other than lowering ones head. But predators, like Pirata's spiders and her Master as well, needed to actively search out and kill their food. She-Ra had yet to see her Master on a hunt but surely it would be a glorious thing to see him take down his victims.

As Pirata spoke She-Ra was brought out of her thoughts and back to the present. Partially true. Well isn't that why her lessons continued to this day, to ensure that she knew all the answers and would make her Master proud. Pirata had done an excellent job of molding her into the mare that she was today and with a bit more teaching she would be ready. Giving her head a nod She-Ra agreed that those below them we in fact wastes and extremely useless. And yes their prolific breeding had led to multiple generations of weak and like minded creatures that only further sullied the gene pools with their inferior blood. It was such a waste, and there was a longing in her blood to go down there and take care of as many of those weak blooded Soquili as she could. But not yet, not until her Master had told her to do so, as surely he wanted her in top physical and mental shape before setting about his goals.

"Their numbers can only protect them for so long." She-Ra told the dark mare with obvious hatred in her voice. ""Their continued breeding of weak lines will be their ultimate downfall. They will not be able to defend themselves once the Master makes his move. I too will make sure to destroy as many of them as I can. Strong blood is the only blood that should continue." And strong blood they had, especially her Master, surely he would see to bringing in plenty of new strong blood through his plans and rid this land of the weak useless wastes of space that currently occupied them.

"Indeed and while we both look forward to that momentous occasion" Pirata agreed in a sly voice "It is just as important for one to understand why such things must be done as it is to know how it shall be done" She informed the golden mare, giving her a sideways glance from several of her multiple glowing eyes. The hared in the mares voice was good, it would fuel her in her conquest and bring about the culmination of this little project in glorious bloodshed.

Not that Pirata cared so much for the bloodshed - not nearly as much as she assumed her partner in this endeavor did, but it would be amusing to see the golden mare covered in the red of innocents, to see the terror in the eyes of those gentle useless herdbeasts as she who was so seemingly non threatening at first glance turned into their worst nightmare. It was a joke worth taking part in to be true and it was the entire reason she had even agreed to this little lark.

She-ra of course could never know she thought it a lark, a fun way to amuse herself until the next toy came along to garner her attentions. No, She-ra must always believe that Pirata cared about this cause and so the spider mare made sure to always put a good deal of convincing acting into her lessons and words to the pale mare. "You must always remember that when you follow through on your Masters orders that you are doing so for the greater good of our kind - too long have the strong been relegated to the shadows and scrub lands, carving out a living in the worst of conditions while the weak and pitiful flourish in paradise. Numbers my dear are all they have going for them and numbers will not spare them now that the strong have decided to work together and take their rightful place"

"Of course." She-Ra said with a nod of her head. "It is foolish to rush into battle without knowing not only your enemy but one's purpose for battle as well." Even the strong blooded could run into troubles should they blindly thrust themselves into a fight. Some could success, yes it was true, but others would pay the ultimate price for their hasty actions. Clearly this is why Master and Pirata had not allowed her to go out there just yet, they wanted to ensure she was completely ready for any and every challenge before releasing her into the fray. So she concentrated on her training and lessons, memorizing everything that they taught her so that when her time did come she would prove herself to them - and the world.

Still, the golden haired mare was anxious to get out there and make her mark on the land. Hopefully at Master's next visit he would deem her worthy enough for such a task and then she could begin to fulfill his every wish. A strong gust of wind blew, tossing her golden locks about for a moment before falling back into place. "I understand." Turning her eyes from the lands before She-Ra looked towards Pirata. "Though we have been forced to live in these harsher lands they had also been a gift to us, hardening our bodies and minds, giving us the advantage over those meadow frolicking weaklings." Having life handed to you made one weak, but those who lived in the less inhabitable areas had to work hard for everything - food, shelter, followers. This would be the strong point of those who wish to wipe the lands of the peaceful mares and stallions that breed like rabbits. Soon these lands would be within her Master's control and all would be well.

As she looked back down upon the meadows below She-Ra contemplated something for a few moments before speaking again. "I have heard whispers lately. That even more are taking up Master's cause, or following similar causes, and that soon they will move upon the lands. Some say that the rumors have spread to those below and they are preparing to defend themselves...but that is a foolish notion. How can the weak defend themselves?" She wasn't worrying about the possibility of an army of peaceful Soquili standing up to her Master and the others, no even if that happened Master would be triumphant. However, in the back of her mind She-Ra wondered just how this would affect her. Would another take her place as her Master's favored disciple? Well she would not allow such a thing should it happen. All these years of devotion and training would not be for nothing.

"It has been a gift, but as with all gifts living in hardship has run its course" The spider mare told her companion, pausing in mid speech to attend to one of her spiders whose anxious drumming of legs was a demand for attention. Placating the beast with a few gentle nudges she turned her attention back to She-ra "In order to prosper past a certain point the strong must reclaim those better lands - lands that will raise good strong young under the firm rule of your master. He will of course make sure that we do not repeat the mistakes of the pointless creatures below" She assured She-ra with a shake of her head as though to brush off any further worries about such things.

Pirata had no idea if the beast she took care of She-ra for would stick around long enough to make sure of such things but she didn't really care if she were honest and the words would further She-ra's resolve, which was of course the point of all of this.

"Of course" She agreed "The edge of what the gentle beasts call 'society' is filled with the stronger willed beasts who have been otherwise shunned, they see the pointlessness of wasting their lives in the pursuit of love and happiness and have been pushed away to live and grow strong as we have - it is only natural that such creatures would gravitate to the Masters cause. He will soon have many students" She stated matter of factly - let the mare ponder that for a few moments, the urgency of possible competitors would give her a bit more of an edge.

"But I would not overly fret about their ability to defend themselves, they might band together but they lack the discipline to stay together, they have no great leader to led them, to organize them" She told She-ra with a confident nod.

She-Ra nodded her head, of course Master would make sure to set things as they should be once his plans began to unfold. Why else would he have devoted so much time to prepare them for that day to come. "I have no doubt that we shall be victorious in our bid to reclaim those lands." She watched the dark mare closely, but her arachnid pets closer. They seemed to be moving about more than normal, perhaps they were bit agitated, but why she wondered, what was bothering them today? "They seem more restless than normal." Pointing towards the spiders with her muzzle. Though the spiders weren't her true concern She-Ra had been raised around them and often saw to making sure they were fed or entertains.

The golden haired mare considered Pirata's words in regard to those outsiders who were shunned from this so-called 'society' and how they were stronger than the others. But how strong? Could they possibly be strong enough to properly serve her Master? No, she didn't think so. However She-Ra knew full well of the importance of such types, they could prove to be useful as minions for a time and should their usefulness end then they would be disposed of along with all the others. She remained hopeful should some of these potential new recruits prove themselves worthy that Master would trust her to take them under her command and led them. "They may be strong compared to those weak blooded fools, however I doubt they will be strong enough for Master. It will take months to break them in and teach them what is necessary." Shame they would need to waste such time, yet they would need minions to do their bidding so they must endure such things.

"I do not fret." She corrected the mare, not out of disrespect to her mentor, but to show she had no worry about these minor bumps in the path. "They will merely help in their own slaughter by clustering together in some vain attempt to save their lives and delay our advances." No, there was no need to worry, besides where was the challenge if they do not fight back. They were no different than the prey beasts Master and Pirata's spiders ate, they fought back for a short while however they eventually submit to death.

Pirata ignored She-ra for a few moments as she cooed at her spiders lovingly, it was true the beasts were a bit more restless then normal today thought she had been around them long enough that she suspected the cause to be the very conversation they were having. Having calmed the creatures with a few murmurers Pirata looked back to the golden haired mare beside her. "I suspect it is our conversation stirring them so" She finally answered the question with a slight shake of her mane and a blink of her multi eyes.

"They are predators and predators are very good at sensing the excitement of a hunt - even when it is yet a good ways off...they know" She elaborated before She-ra had the chance to question her further on the subject. "You need not break them all" Pirata responded "Only a choosen few who shall take up important roles - the rest...the rest are merely fodder, as long as they can follow direction and fight well then they will serve their purpose and afterwards.."She paused with a sly smile on her face as she regarded the golden mare "Afterwards we shall take their measure again" And those that failed? Well..Pirata suspected they would still be a good enough meal for her pets.

Of course that was still a ways off, for now Pirata had to focus on getting the golden mare ready for the approaching visit from her master - even Pirata knew better then to hand the purewalker a disappointment, unlike most, she didn't fear the beast but neither was she stupid enough to give him an excuse to be irritated with her - and to that end she had to make sure that She-ra didn't irritate him either. "Such words will surely please your Master" Pirata encouraged "But take care that he does not start to think you grow to cocky - pride in ones abilities is all good and well..but one should make sure that such pride does not blind you. The horses below are weak and unorganized but a lucky break and you not paying attention is all they need" She reminded the mare with a snort.

Giving her head a nod She-Ra agreed. While not a predator she too could feel her blood pumping at the mere thought of going off to see her Master's plans through. Even when she would go off and hunt for a snack for those spiders She-Ra would feel that same adrenaline coursing through her body. It was the thrill of the hunt, the lure of victory to come and the knowledge that the weak would fall. Pawing at the ground a bit She-Ra gave her head a shake. She was letting the lust for blood get to her too deeply right now. It was not yet time to move so she needed to converse that hatred and energy for the future.

Fodder. That was the perfect term for them. Those beasts that were stupid enough to think they were worthy of joining her Master's ranks, those that would be used against those weak blooded fools and then after the fighting was done most would be disposed of. There may be a few that prove themselves to be valuable still but She-Ra didn't think many would. "They will be useful for a time, that is certain. Master cannot do it alone." While he hated to admit that She-Ra knew it to be true, even a purewalker like her master would have a tough time killing off all those weak bloods in a single life time. "He needs an army at his disposal, and an army he shall have."

"I understand." She said with a nod of her head. "Even the strong can have weak moments, we can drop out guard or act before thinking things out fully and that would be the moment those weak blood take advantage of it and turn the tides against us." She could not afford to make a mistake like that, not after so much time had been spend perfecting her loyalty to her Master. Tipping her head up She-Ra noticed the sun was beginning to set. Though she could not, and would not ever request a training session to end early she did point it out to Pirata. "It is getting late. If you pets wish me to get them a snack still it would be best for me to do so soon while the creatures as making their way tot heir homes for the night."

Pirata listened with a tipped ear as She-ra worked her way through the advice and words she had given her - though she made no move to say anything else, the golden mare seemed to have come to the right conclusions on her own, sometimes one just needed to talk them through to fully understand them. Tilting her head up the dark mare followed She-ra gaze to the sky - it was indeed tarting to get dark and a gathering of storm clouds off in the distance promised a storm later on that night in the valley though that didn't mean it would rain up here in the heights.

"Yes...find them something young and tender" Pirata told the mare, turning her head to lovingly nuzzle the arachnids on her back "They deserve something good today...we shall await you in the usual place" She told her before turning about and muttering softly to her spiders began to descend from the heights and return to the place she had been staying lately.

"Of course." She said with a tip of her head. "I shouldn't be long." Though not a predator by birth She-Ra had been taught from an early age how to hunt in order to feed Pirata's spiders and keep both them and the mare happy. As Pirata left doing down the path, She-Ra went down the other. This path would lead her into the valley below, where earlier in the day she had spotted a large herd of deer roaming about. With the spring weather, there were plenty of young fawns to choose from, some would be easier to catch than others. Surely the spiders would delight in such a tender meal and what they did not consume her Master could take in later. The conversation she had with Pirata cycled about her mind as she descended into the valley and set off to hunt.
