The players:
Merashik
Tian
Dumah
Quynh

User Image The grass in the clearing swayed lazily in the light spring breeze as she rested in the tree line under a tree. She'd taken a bit of time from her family, her younger sister having been driving her absolutely nuts lately. She just couldn't see eye to eye with that thick headed mare. How they could have been produced from the same parents was beyond her. Surely the baskets had gotten mixed up some how? Shaking her head, she pulled herself to her hooves and stepped out into the grass.

User Image Returning from yet another moment of wandering, she'd been doing that more so these days. Since she'd grown up, she'd taken to wandering off more and more, looking to catch that next big thing beyond the safety of her family. She wanted to do things for herself like any other mare, meet new soquili, make new friends and perhaps who new what else.

Quynh pursed his lips as his mother, Dumah, gave him a third run-down of proper stallion ettiqutte.

"And you know this how, Mom?"

He changed his tune and flattened his ears when his mother sent a low-lidded glare his way.

'Why does she always have to be so tough on us? We weren't that bad when we were little. Were we?'

He gave his mom a cute little grin and knew instantly, she loved him and his sister more than anything, by the way her face softened.

Dumah too smiled before turning to eye her reflection in the lake. She looked good, better than before, she had to admit. Having children had definitely been the best thing to ever happen to her. She didn't care that Zasha had never made an effort to be in their lives, that was his choice, just like it had been her choice to raise them into the magnificent soquili they had become.

None of this would have been possible without the assistance of countless friends and the help of her brothers. Yes, she'd returned home to the lake shortly after the baskets popped open. Aquilo had been beside himself. Alto smiled warmly and marveled over both foals. Carthage played it cool, stoic and 'vial' as he was, but as soon as he was alone with them, he was teaching them how to wade through the water.

Dumah wanted nothing more than to show off her well-behaved children now, and so was headed to the valley. But first, she had to remind Quhyn of what that completely entailed. Darling was off with her uncles learning just what chaos brought into a mare's life.

Her father's words rolled through her head as she spotted her daughter's approach. Look after her won't you? Her prides been hurt by what I've said and of course for now she'll blame you for my actions but really she just needs to find some one to protect... to know just WHY we are how we are and protect others for the greater good... Make sure she comes to now harm. One moment she was trying to make amends, sooth the family issues and the next... she was suddenly Damia's keeper was. Sure she was the elder mare here and didn't want her to come to harm but her sister really was thick headed... One day she'd wind up on the wrong end of danger.. and if that came to pass.... well she'd rather not think of it but she hoped to the heavens that she would be there to step in.

As her daughter drew nearer, her face softened and she set aside her worries for the moment. She'd have to tell both of her other children to keep an eye out on their aunt but for now.. she was content to see her daughter once more. "Tia... you've been off wandering again? Trying to find more family? or is it knights and dragons you seek?" She chuckled and stood, moving to green her with a gentle nuzzle. She knew tian had been trying even more as of late to become the more.. ladylike mare of the family.

Tian Chuckled and gave her mother an impish grin. "Something like that... I've been more or less out trying to find something to quell the boredom of not having my siblings around as much..."she closed the gap giving a dainty and more lady like nuzzle to her mother in greeting. "How about you? Any luck finding Aunt Damia these past days? I know you're worried about her..." She'd been there that day when the family squabble had risen to the point of her grand father stepping in and telling off her aunt. Really she was known for having young ambitions and being a bit... thick headed but her aunt was just something else all together.

'Finally,' Dumah thought to herself. She'd managed to wet and properly split Quynh's bangs the way she liked. He found it irritating beyond all means, but he forgot one simple rule: When out with mother, we dress to impress! She giggled to herself now. They truly were ideal children, and obeyed her wishes far better than most foals. Darling was just starting to fall into the dating scene and Dumah figured a man's touch was necessary since she never sought out a stallion after having the kids. Quynh on the other hand, he was something else. The mother tossed her braid to the opposite shoulder, peeking around to watch her eldest child. He would do just fine for himself, but right now, he was so awkward and goofy.

Quynh pretended not to mind his mother's preening. It was a small price to pay to see her so happy. He would do anything to make her smile, because he knew all to well that you are only given one mother, and after having no father, he was desperate to hold on. Thinking of said father brought about a bubble of rage in the pits of his stomach. Who was he and how dare he walk out on his mother! He hated that he looked so much like him. He often got comments about it when he was in the valley socializing.

"Mom, does it bother you that I look so much like him?"

She gave an all-knowing smile and shook her head delicately.

"Not in the least bit. You're so handsome, I'm just proud to call you my own."

Words could not describe the dimension or gravity of his mother's reassurance. He was his mother's son and would make her proud. But today, today they were headed into the clearing. He'd had hopes of meeting new soquili today and with his mother along, that would be no trouble at all.

Smiling, she stood and began to fuss over Tian's veils, tightening the bow in her mane so that it sat nicely. "You've grown into such a pretty young mare.. like your grandmother I think." She smiled and stepped back to look at her daughter. "I'm worried about you're aunt.. you're right.. but in time she'll find her way. That I am certain of." She gave a knowing smile and nudged Tian's shoulder lightly.

She gave a slightly exasperated sigh at her mother and shook her curls and veils out after her mother was done. "Thanks.. mom.." She couldn't help but to chuckle. Ever since she'd started trying to be a bit more lady like her mother had seemed to soften up around her. Act much more... female than her usual erratic hyper self. She didn't mind it much.. She thought it was rather sweet but she also saw the loneliness her mother harbored as she would watch all those happy couples.
