Pachelbel trotted his way back to the grove his family called home. Strapped around his body were several bags full of oats and other savories that their little fruit vines and trees just didn't allow for. He was a bit tired but feeling good about himself. This was only his second trip alone, usually he was accompanied by his mother Rondel and sometimes his brother, Beat. The three of them formed quite the trio with their musical and dancing styles, which they traded for the items he now carried.

He hummed to himself as he trotted along not really paying much attention to his surroundings, his bells chiming merrily in tune to his pace.

Amethyst was down past a tribal post. She kept her distance eyes roaming over her surroundings. Listening to the faint rustle of leaves, footsteps, and... a tinkling. They sounded like small bells being jangles around. Odd. She thought. The jingling was a sweet sound, vibrating in her ears. It was a pleasant cheery sound, but where it came from was what she didn't know. Amethyst had never heard bells clearly before so she wasn't sure who or what would have bells.

The light noise became louder, closer. She turned her head to look behind her, nothing in sight. So she then rotated her body 360 degrees to face the opposite direction. A figure was approaching, the bells were hanging on a merrily colored stallion.

Pachelbel tossed his head getting his forelock out of his eyes, and caught sight of something brown in the distance. He knew it wasn't the trees of the grove his family called home, that still being several miles away, he slowed his pace, his bells jangling discordantly as his pace changed. He winced slightly, hoping whoever it was that was ahead of him they were friendly.

He swallowed hard and looked from side to side...unfortunately he was out in the open and there was no way to avoid approaching the distant figure. He'd never been good at approaching strangers, unlike his parents and brother who were both friendly and outgoing.

He tossed his head again setting his bells ringing, then slowly approached.

Almost as soon as she turned the jangling of the bells changed in sound and rthym. Perhaps he had seen her. This thought struck fear in her heart. He didn't look particularly dangerous, but caution must always be exhibited. She wasn't daring enough to approach the oncoming stallion. Friend or foe? ws the question that circled in her mind. Friend or foe?

If the stallion saw her he must have some confidence for beside the temorary change in pace he kept coming towards her and seemed unfazed. She kept her eyes on him afraid to shift them away. He came closer. Clip Clop. Clip Clop.

Pachelbel swallowed hard as he came closer to the other horse. He relaxed just slighly when he he saw it was a female and a wind. That explained why they'd looked so big from a distance, but he still wasn't intending on saying much unless he had to.

He was nearly past when one of the bags on his harness came loose from its knot and thunked almost soundlessly to the ground next to the mare.

The stallion seemed content to not strike up a conversation, which she appreciated as she felt similiarly.

He had walked almost completely past her when a sack slipped off of his...harness? Yes, harness she thought. She hadn't been quite sure at first seen she had never encountered a fellow soquili wearing one before. The bag thumped down next to her and a few of the contents fell out when the knot tying the bag came loose. Amethyst was unsure of what to do. She cocked her head examining the stranger then the bag and back to the stallion. She sighed quietly. She didn't want to approach but her small and slightly lacking social skills urged her to take the bag and approach the traveler, and that is what she did.

Pach stared straight ahead and concentrated on the dance he'd done earlier at the tribal camp letting his mind focus on music and the movements of the dance instead of the winged mare.

No amount of concentration though allowed him to ignore her when he realized she was tailing after him slowly. He shivered slightly sending an odd tone through his bells, before stopping and slowly turning to face her.

"Did....did you need something?" he asked in a rich baritone, which would have been warm and welcoming like the sound of the bell he wore on his chest if he hadn't been so nervous.

The stallion's face contorted as though he was having difficult concentrating, but he continued forward not stopping to retrieve his bag. Amethyst's eyes rolled to the sky annoyed, her paranoia was kicking in and she wasn't interested in a chase.

She trotted to keep up with him. His bells jingled eerily before he turned to her. He turned almost into her and she stopped abruptly and backed up a few paces.

He asked her if she needed something. Seriously? She mumbled something incoherently with the bag in her mouth. She dropped the sack to the ground. "I didn't need anything, you left this." your welcome.

Pachelbel's eyes widened slightly. He now that he was paying attention he did notice that the harness wasn't sitting properly, due to the missing bag.

"I...I'm sorry." he muttered embarrassed. Even though his mother wouldn't have scolded him for it he knew she would have been disappointed in him for losing something. "I...I guess they didn't tie it properly..." he said looking down starting to flush a light red.

"Sorry...to inconvenience you..." he added quickly.

The stallion reddened, and she started to feel a bit remorseful of her sarcastic thoughts. Her eyes eyes softened and gave him a weak smile. She looked down, scuffed her hoof, and looked back up. "No, I guess they didn't" she paused most of her annoyance gone, but suspicion remained.

"No, i-its ok. I was just...relaxing." She looked at him at of the corner of her eye and held her hoof in front of his bag protectively. He wouldn't get it that easily, who is he anyway? gypsy? robber? murderer? No way to tell and her mistrust was growing rapidly.

He nodded and admired her wings politely. "From flying? My father has wings, but I don't think he can fly very well with them." he said.

He watched as she put a leg in front of the bag. He quailed a bit internally. Did she mean to keep that one? How would he explain to his mother? How was he supposed to bring up the subject without sounding awkward...

"I...I could sort of use a rest too...I guess...its a long trip." he said hoping he sounded conversational.

Amethyst was so busy thinking that she missed what the stallion had said. "Wh- um...what about flying? Um ya I'm not the most spectacular flyer either."

The stallion attempted to sound conversational which didn't quite work but...she felt partially inclined to at least see who she was up against. She tilted her head up in suspicion, eyes narrowed, "yes, a long trip...from where exactly?" her voice was a tad eerie but perhaps it would keep him at bay if he was someone to be afraid of.

"Ah..." Pach took an involuntary step back. "Ah...home..." he said slowly. He wasn't sure he wanted to tell this mare much more. She was giving off an odd vibe.

"I...I...I was making the trip between home and the trade post...Mother let me go by myself this time..." he murmured.

Amethyst couldn't stop an amused twinkle from reaching her eye. He seemed to actually be slightly afraid of her. An unusual and uncommon occurence, she was the dominant one in this...whatever this was and he was afraid of her, which slightly lessened her fear of him. Though, she couldn't really blame him she had been having odd moodswings for awhile now, probably from often isolation.

She scoffed silently. he still lived with his mother? Amethyst wasn't very accustomed to family interactions but she didn't think that stallions live with their mother once they were grown. she decided to ask him "you still live with your mother???"

Pach was a little taken back by the seemingly amused tone at her question. "Yes." he said a little defensively. "My brother and I Both still live with Mother and Father." he snorted a bit. He knew that some soq left home as soon as possible, his own mother was an extreme example of that but he really was a home body. He figured eventually when things felt right he might venture away from the grove they called home, but he'd always go back there. It was home after all.

"Don't you have a family?" he shot back at her a little harsher than he intended.
