She had thought about patrolling months ago, but this was the first evening that Galatea had the guts to do so. She didn't know why, as there wasn't any change in her life to push her to do it. She was just tired of being too scared to do it. She wasn't going to get anywhere hiding from what she was. Except a touch of self-loathing.

She walked slowly, her heels clicking on the cement as she moved. She felt her heart race as she walked past strange shapes, jumping at the possible sounds of anyone else. "I shouldn't have done this," Galatea told herself quietly. "I'm in no shape to do this...I'll never be in the right shape for this." She needed confidence, but it was hard to be one when you didn't know what you were doing. She'd learn, but at what price?

She continued to walk on, small bits of confidence returning when nothing happened. Alright, if she could make herself feel more comfortable henshined up, then she'd be able to stop jumping at every little thing. If only she would stay focused, instead of letting her guard drop. Like she was doing right..now.

Captain Painite was in a brilliant mood this evening. Everything in her world seemed to be good, moving along at just the kind of pace she liked. She was training more and more, learning more and more, and she was getting bolder in her traps.

She was finding, through her escapades, that her favorite thing to do was harvest energy en masse. So far, the largest group she had successfully managed to snag and drain, then leave scattered around the city for their private wake ups and bafflement, was five. But she was sure she could do more, and be more and more creative about it. Catching more than one person at a time, and then getting rid of them in an inconspicuous way once they sufficiently contributed their energy to her cause, was a very interesting game. It kept her mind turning in an exciting way.

Her javelin was becoming more like an extension of herself, like Mr. Saddles, rest him, had been. Her hobby horse was gone, but this new weapon, with its pointed ends and sturdy staff, was a more than worthy successor. She spent a lot of time trying to improve her skills with it, maybe just in an effort to impress Hiro and cuddle the nega-kitty because of it. More than that, though, she wanted to be dangerous and adept.

The master of her craft.

Humming to herself, she felt a spark of a presence. A senshi, surely. Grinning, she immediately called her weapon from its subspace pocket. Senshi were excellent punching bags. The more she fought, the stronger she'd get, right? Plus, messing with them was always fun.

Peering over the edge of the roof she was on, she saw the senshi passed by. She reacted almost instantly at the sight, and idea hitting her and her body running with it. She took a few quick steps, then threw the javelin at her, perhaps with less grace than an olympic thrower might, and her aim was not something she had been able to practice too much recently.

But now was the perfect time to work on it.

Sailor Galatea felt her skin crawl. It was a sensation she remembered from before, but she couldn't recall exactly what it was. More training was needed, and yet she didn't know who to turn to for that. Before she could react properly, she felt a sudden tug on her hair. In another blink, she was on the ground. Her rump sore, she turned to see that there was... a javelin?! With two hands, she pulled to release the bit of hair that had gotten caught, swallowing the pain as she stumbled back up onto her feet.

"W-what?" This again? Is this what happened...all the time? Turning to see, it was one of them. She stumbled backwards, unsure as to what was going to happen next. If she summoned her shield too early, she'd be exhausted before she could escape. She had to stall time, but how?

"What do you want," she asked, her brows furrowed. Her voice was not as strong as she had wanted it to be, but it would do.

On the roof, Painite threw her hands in the air and let out an echoing 'whoot' when she saw the senshi hit the floor. She hadn't seen what she hit, exactly, to topple her, but she was hoping it was as awesome a shot as it looked like at this distance.

But, disappointingly, the Senshi got up to her feet.

She leaped off the roof down to a lower railing, then down again to the floor. She was standing in the street just a few feet down from the senshi, then made to walk toward her casually. Taking her time for impact and to develop an air of tension. When she was closer, she grinned.

"You're looking a little pale, senshi," she said casually, calling her weapon to her as she lifted her hand. The long javelin appeared at her palm and she closed her fist around the grip. In her mind, this looked awesome.

"What do I want? Not much. Your energy, maybe. Your life, if I'm lucky, or you're particularly weak."

Painite was really good at what she did. Galatea was pretty damn scared. She was doing her best to hide it, but it was apparent through her body language that she was just barely holding herself together.

"I think I used up the luck around here," she mentioned shakily, remembering how close that javelin had come to her skull. She had been a little too close to dying. She gripped her hands together, trying to still the shakes as she thought about how mortal she felt, even with all this magic stuff going on around her.

Still, she didn't get it. "Why...why are you doing this?" she said, still taking another step backwards as she asked. Mistakenly giving Painite the upper hand, at least mentally.

Painite could almost breathe it in, the fear dripping off the senshi. She saw it in the others eyes, in their movements, in the way they tried to pretend they weren't, in fact, scared. That was one of her favorite things to see. Try all they wanted, there was no way they could hide it from her. Stubborn pride and personal motivation failed where natural instinct flared.

Fear was not something to be shoved aside.

Of course, her opinions on fear were completely different when she was the one trying to hide it, but at the moment she wasn't. She was the one causing it, and she basked in that. it made her head spin in a delicious way, but also made her confident. Cocky. She let her guard down when she was excelling, more often than not, getting wrapped up in the fun and the thrill of it and not remembering to stay focused in the moment.

"You used up all the luck, huh? Well, I'm sure I can work with your bad luck, rather than my own good, then." She grinned broadly, gripping her javelin pointedly. In that the point was directed at the senshi as Painite walked casually closer.

"Because you're a senshi, my dear little enemy," she said with a coo, shaking her head in mock disappointment. She didn't make the rules, not all of them, she just used them to her benefit. In this case, Galatea had the misfortune of waking up a senshi. And that was good enough to condemn her. "Poor little thing. You look like you're going to shake yourself out of your skirts. Don't worry, I can make this quick, if you like."

The Captain grinned, then charged, holding her javelin now like a lance, as if entering an extremely one sided, on foot jousting match.

Sailor Galatea strangely felt possessive over her 'bad' luck. She didn't want someone that was so negative to mess with it. Still...she felt a shiver go up her spine. This talking business wasn't really going to work. Not with this woman.

And she clearly wasn't going to 'just' take some energy, like that last girl she had come across.

"Galatea Stone Shield!"

She had only managed to summon it just in time. Painite was charging her. She instinctively held it up against the javelin, but mistakenly looked away. She felt the shield shatter, but she hadn't anticipated the fact that it couldn't absorb all of the attack. She felt a surge of pain in her left arm, and she stumbled backwards onto the ground.

"No!" she yelled, unable to help herself. She was so useless on her own. Her arm hurt so much she wasn't sure if she'd be able to do anything else. The energy it took to summon one shield was enough to exhaust her. What...was going to happen now?

The Negaverse Captain was not happy when the senshi called her magic. This one wasn't one of the fighter types, which were annoying enough. No, this was a defensive senshi, with a stupid shield. She knew that by the name of the attack, of course, but seeing it pop up pretty much sealed that deal.

She thought her Javelin wouldn't be able to breath through the shield, but to her own surprise it did, and she managed to get the girl in the arm. She saw a flash of red, blood, and she grinned as she bounced backwards for another attack.

If she got through once, she could keep doing it until the little senshi ran out of magic. Who was to say she wasn't already tapped out?

"Oh, yes!" Painite laughed, at the Senshi's protest. She was having a blast, reveling in her status as the scary bad guy, forcing fear into the Senshi and making her back into a metaphorical corner. There was no where for her to run now, after all.

Gripping the Spirit of Mister Saddles, she let her grin fade a bit, a dangerous, but controlled, smile on her deceptively pretty face.

"I think this is where our game of cat and mouse ends, little Stoner."

Orion had been patrolling, doing his duty as a senshi to protect the weak and the innocent, etc etc. It was the power signature of a Captain that distracted him, and then when he felt closer he picked up on a senshi too. A Captain versus a Sailor didn't seem fair and so it didn't take much thought for him to follow the signatures to even the odds.

It didn't take him long to reach the pair, but even that was too long. He had arrived just in time to watch a spear he remembered quite well break through a stone shield and hit the sailor. He glared down at the Captain, his hands balling into fists. They had some unfinished business.

He moved to the edge of the rooftop he was on, jumping down to land in between Galatea and Painite. "I don't think so." Silver eyes stared her down, daring her to attack him, the spear didn't scare him as much as it did on their first meeting. It was dangerous, no doubt, but if he was fast enough he could dodge it.

The redhead spared a glance for the girl behind him. "You can run or stay, the choice is yours, but another shield would come in handy." He trained his eyes on Painite again, not wanting to give her an opening to stab him, that was all he needed.

"Who?" she gasped, her voice quiet. Galatea was a novice about reading power signatures. She could sense them, but that didn't mean she understood them.

Galatea didn't think she could summon another shield, but she would try. The draining sensation of using her power, mixed with the pain in her arm, was making it hard to focus. "I'll....try," she said a bit louder, slowly getting herself to her feet. He seemed so powerful, but a large part of that was easily because he stood a foot over her. "I don't want to be useless," she added on, steadying her wobbly legs.

She had no intentions of running...at least not yet. Her eyes darted to their enemy, nerves still twisting the senshi's gut.

Painite's attention was drawn when she felt a strong aura approaching them. Someone coming to rain on the parade, surely, and that made her grin and fume at the same time. She loved a challenge, but she hated being interrupted when she was in the middle of a game. It was like someone watching you play at the arcade and cutting in to join when someone else already had their coin on the machine.

Very rude.

She looked at the senshi as he landed between herself and the target, eyes keen and focused and her annoyed expression barely hidden under her grin.

"You senshi, always cutting in line and butting in where you're not wanted. Don't you have someone to teach you manners? Oh, that's right. You're all just a bunch of helpless children."

She eyed the duo, noting that the senshi she had been hunting was back on her feet. Not the best scenario for the Captain, but she was never one to run away unless she absolutely had to. And the fight hadn't even started yet. Gripping her Javelin, she charged forward, holding it in both hands and stabbing it forward. she was slightly to the side of Orion, however: aiming for Galatea.

Silver eyes flicked down to the senshi behind him again. For a moment he thought about telling her to just run and get out of the way, but she was trying and he wasn't going to just dismiss her like that. When she said she'd try he nodded looking forwards again. Trying was good, hopefully she'd succeed. He carefully ignored hearing her say she didn't want to be useless because he wasn't sure how to respond to that. If she couldn't bring up another shield there wasn't much she could do in this fight.

Eyes narrowed as Painite began to taunt him. "I'm not a child, you'd do well to remember that." The leather of his gloves creaked as his hands balled into fists ready for the rematch. He was expecting her to throw the javelin at him and so when she began to run towards them he was caught off guard. It didn't take him long to figure out what she was attempting to do though. <********> He only had a moment to decide what to do, attack or defend, attack or defend. "Move!" At the last minute he chose defend and he twisted around, grabbed Galatea and pushed her away his face twisting in pain as the spear that was aiming for her scored a gash in his side, blood staining the creme fabric of his fuku.

Doing his best to ignore the pain and the blood that was starting to run down his side he turned to face Painite, keeping one eye on her spear and the other on her. "Now you've pissed me off." He pointed at the Captain calling out his super attack. "Meteor Shower!" There was a crackle and then flaming chunks of rock began to fall out of the sky towards Painite. Not waiting to see if his aim was good he backed up towards Galatea, looking down at her. "You okay?"
