Bio: Atticus grew up in Ancient Ostia (the port that ships would have to go through to get to Ancient Rome). He was born to a sailor and a prostitute. He never saw his father, and saw his mother run off with different men all of his life. Then, one day, a rich man wanted to help his mother not be dependent on prostitution. His mother refused, but the man insisted. His mother still refused, so the rich man forced himself into her life and completely changed it (for the better). This influenced Atticus' persistence of kindness.
