He was awake before her first nudge, the insistance in her voice being more than enough to wake the now light sleeper. Once he was able to shake the persistant sleep from his mind, what his mate had said finally had a chance to sink in.
The earthy male's eyes widened considerably at the realization, and he scrambled out of the way of the female. He didn't bother to ask if she was certain (the look on her face and her body was more than enough to convince him), but his ears lay back with nerves. This was his first experience in this sort of thing after all.
He couldn't help the almost goofy smile, though, even if he was very nervous. "It's time!" More of a reaffirmation for himself than a restatement for the sake of it. He licked her muzzle affectionately- not a little bit intended as a bit of an apology for the pain. "Do you need anything?"
He'd never gotten the Talk, you know. That he could remember, anyway.

Still, though... he couldn't help but be concerned, and not a little nervous. He might have never been present for any birthing but his own, but he had heard a female or two giving birth from a distance away, he wasn't sure how long ago. He'd never been allowed close by the pained she-wolves.
All he could think of doing for her for now, though, was support her. He would do whatever she asked if she decided to ask it, but she had not yet, so the earthy wolf remained where he was.
((Forgive any hard to understand parts. xD It's late and I'm tired.
btw, do you wanna do the time skip soon? Waiting on your signal. xD ))

As the worried, and also quite helpless, father, Akamu had, of course, spent the last nine hours pacing a new groove in the den floor, and encouraging his mate when he needed to or felt that he must. Mostly, he spent the time feeling guilty over inadverdently putting her through this kind of pain. He hadn't known it would happen like this! Really!
When the hours were over, though, he smiled brilliantly in response to Lavena's own smile, and returned her nuzzle with matching affection. "Thinking about that had escaped me.." He chuckled in self recrimination. "But.... I would like to name one of them Conan.." A friend he had made in his wandering days, and one who he would look back on with fondness. "And perhaps... Marissa?" He had always been fond of the name, though he was unsure of where he had first heard it.
"What names would you like to call them?" He returned the question, nuzzling her again.

"Those are very good names." Akamu smiled down at the puppies. The other male, the darker one, could almost have been called pudgy. Of course, they would all, or some, likely grow to some good size, having half of their blood coming from a mountain wolf. The earthy male laughed softly at the troublemaker pup, returning his wife's glance.
He bent his neck to lick at the backs of the pups at random, chuckling when one of them whined at the interruption of their feeding.
