The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Lia is a neko in a world ruled by humans. It seemed almost inevitable that she would end up in a Borrow House. Like the name suggests, it's a house run by a human master where people can go to "borrow" a lesser being, a neko, inu, etc. What are they borrowed for? Whatever the human wants. They can be rented for anywhere from an hour up to a full day.
This kind of life is all Lia has ever known. It's firmly ingrained in her mind and she believes herself to be content with her lot. But is she really? Well, she's about to find out when Edward 'WhiteTail' bursts into her life and turns it upside down. The tiger that should be....isn't....

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Lia lay sprawled on the small pallet that was hers when she was at the house. Her tail waved lazily as she waited for her next "master". She was a popular one in the house, both for her unusual blue coloring and her intense desire to please her master. She'd learned early on that fighting brought pain, which she didn't like. So she gave in, accepted it, and learned to at least look like she was enjoying it. She never frowned. Even now, a small smile played on her muzzle. On her right ankle was a small cuff, the chain attached to the wall beside her. She couldn't roam from her pallet. The tiger that should be....isn't....

An explosion suddenly rocked the side of the house, gunfire, screams, yells, smoke, then the door burst open and a tall black-furred fox man with a large trench coat and a rifle burst through the door, he looked at Lia and expertly shot the shackle off of her right leg, "Come on you're getting out of here! He yelled, outside the door other slaves were being lead out by other weapon-wielding figures, not a one among them was human.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Lia jumped at the explosion, sitting up. She looked around wildly, flinching when the chain to her cuff was broken, leaving the cuff and two small links of metal. She looked at the fox in confusion. "Getting out? But why?" She asked, not moving from her pallet. Her amber eyes seemed so lost, almost wary even, of him and what he was doing. Leaving? But her newest master hadn't come.
((I'm deliberately leaving the cuff on. It has possibilities.)) The tiger that should be....isn't....

"You're free! Come on you're escaping!" The man said, gesturing for Lia to hurry up. "Patrols will be coming soon so come on!" Outside the door were yells of joy and happiness as slaves bounded to freedom with their new saviors.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Lia shrank back. "Leave? I can't leave. I'll get in trouble." She said, eyes darting around wildly. She shrank back against the wall, nervous. Somehow though, the small smile never left her muzzle, as if it was permanently there. Her eyes showed a completely different story though, confused and scared. The tiger that should be....isn't....

The man sighed and walked up to Lia, he knelt down before her and looked her in the eye, single blue eye watching Lia, a piercing gaze, but one that was surprisingly kind. "You aren't going to be hurt. I promise. You're going to be safe alright? But you have to come with me."

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Lia's amber eyes looked past him for a moment, before focusing on his blue gaze. She nodded slowly, trembling. "Alright." She whispered, slowly standing up. She took one hesitant step away from her pallet, then paused, looking back as if debating staying. The tiger that should be....isn't....

The man took Lia's hand and smiled at her reassuringly, then lead her out of the room. Down the stairs and then into the basement of the Borrow House, through a tunnel and heading quickly through it along with other slaves and men and women armed just like him. Once everyone was through he took a small device from his coat and flicked the button. An explosion echoed through the tunnel, cutting off pursuers. The man grinned at his soldiers and nodded, "Back home now, to acquaint our new comrades." He said, he smiled at Lia and the group all began moving through the tunnels.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Lia followed placidly, though she was trembling slightly. She flinched, flattening her ears at the sound of another explosion. She looked around nervously, her tail curled tight around her waist. Well, for better or worse, she was stuck here now. She stuck close to the fox, not wanting to get separated from him. The tiger that should be....isn't....

The man kept hold of Lia's hand, his grip firm but not tight, reassuring, as he lead the way. After about half an hour of walking they climbed out of the tunnels into an open field near the road and everyone filed onto buses and trucks and other various vehicles. The man lead Lia to a truck and helped her into the passenger's seat, getting in the driver's seat and turning the vehicle on.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Lia looked nervously at the truck, hesitating, then climbing in. "Where are we going Sir?" She asked quietly, amber eyes flicking everywhere, taking in everything. She wasn't quite sure what to make of this all. The tiger that should be....isn't....

"Back to our base. We'll have rooms and everything set up for you all there. Give you a place to your own, food, water, all that. I'm Edward by the way, but most people call me WhiteTail." He said, smiling slightly at Lia before looking back to the road as the convoy of vehicles began to drive.
