(Location: DW borders~)

How she had gotten from grasslands to golden sand she would never know. Ever since she had been ‘banned’ from her homelands, she just traveled in no particular direction. She had one litter with a male of her father’s homeland, but all those cubs had long since grown up. She didn’t even know where her first litter of cubs were, and frankly pretty much didn’t care. Family life wasn’t her thing.

She trudged along, not going in any particular direction, just forward. The sun beat down on her coffee pelted back, something her rogue body had gotten acquainted too since the ‘luxury’ of pride life was over with. She could never go back to that way of life even if she wanted to. It just didn’t suit her.

She would have laughed if you said she'd be running into Bari again in the Dawnwalker territory of all places. The last time she'd seen the lioness she'd been threatening her-- at that time --youngest daughter. Since then she'd gone through quite a few major life changes. Being one who didn't dwell on such things anymore, though, she'd focus instead on the present. Presently that entailed patrolling the pride borders. There were guardians out doing that more diligently than even before after Tullmarines had come to attack one of their then refugees, now members. Ah, yes, her son in law. Caspian. Funny how that all worked out. Mosi yawned, slowing to rest on a dune. Her black coat made her stand out on all that golden sand, it also wore her out a bit, but she did her job with no complaints. She scanned the sand carefully for any sign of danger, but as she had for the last few days.... she found nothing. Nothing until her eyes landed on a particularly familar mocha colored coat, and she stared to be sure she wasn't dreaming it. ... You again?!

It wasn’t hard for the dark blue, almost teal, eyes to miss the form of a black lioness resting amongst the golden sand. While normally she would just bypass the lion, not wanting to take a second glance, something irked her about this female. It couldn’t be…? Oh, but it appeared it was! How ironic was it that here she was in the middle of nowhere (or so she thought the middle of nowhere) and she was here. Wasn’t she one of the…what did she call it back in the Pridelands…Council…Member? Her tail flickered behind her in almost an annoyed fashion. Oh how the mighty hath fallen! (and it being Mosi of all lions just made the icing on the cake even sweeter). A smirk rose to her maw as she set out to just go…greet her ‘old friend.’

“Well, well, well. I didn’t think I’d ever see…” she paused, a sneer present on her face as she looked up and down Mosi, “…you…again…”

Mosi watched Bari make her approach with an almost mirthless smirk on her muzzle. The lioness, only a few months older than she, seemed about as curt as ever. "Sweet dreams you've had then. I could say the same for you. So this is where you've finally ended up? Couldn't find a rock big enough to bury yourself under?" .... So pretty much nothing has changed.

Oh these two should’ve been born as siblings, for then they would be the epitome of the term ‘sibling rivalry’.

“Ah, so pleasant they were too. Shamed they now must be ruined,” she stretched, her claws flexing but quickly retreated back. She really didn’t ‘fight’ anymore, but knew she could if she had too. Now she just preferred to use her voice before her claws.

“I should be asking you the same question. What happened? I thought you were one of the quote, unquote ‘rulers’ of the Pridelands. And now you are in this dump. Hah, lose a bet or something?” When she mentioned the word ‘dump’, a paw sifted through the dry sand. It was still strange seeing the lioness in the sands; the Pridelands were a total opposite of it.

The fact Mosi wasn't that quick to jump to her paws was equal testament that her fighting days were pretty well over too, though she kept up her training. She let out a barking laugh at the question, not moving from her "seat", ignoring the heat she had finally adjusted to even with her dark coat. "Ask away, then. I came here with your brother and our children." Mosi replied with a smirk, though she'd have to admit shortly that Ezeoha had returned home, it shouldn't be a surprise he wasn't cut out for the desert and the Dawnwalker's monogamous lifestyle. For Mosi he'd settle down, but in the end they had surprisingly grown apart again. "There wasn't much left to do after you got kicked out. We left to travel, then parted ways here in 'this dump'. You should really know by now not to judge by appearances, dear Ri-ri."

“My…brother?” She thought for a moment. Couldn’t have been Baakir…so that meant. “You and Ezeoha?” A snort, then a laugh barely echoed on the sands. “And where is your precious little ‘Ezzy’ now?” She knew her brother (or…really didn’t know him too well, just that he was a total flirt as a child and even an adult,) and some place like here, the desert really, was no place Ezeoha would stay.

And of course, she was correct. “Oh what a shame. Well, I don’t blame him for leaving you and…oh children too?” A tsking noise sounding. “I wouldn’t want to wake up to your mug in the morning either,” she smirked, but her ears flattened at the nickname.

Mosi didn't seem at all bothered by the concept that Ezeoha had left to return home, she just kept smirking at Bari.

What's the matter, Ri-ri? Don't like the nickname? And in the meantime what have you been doing with yourself? Been having fun living with the rogues you despise so much, Ri-ri Was she enjoying calling her that? Oh yes. Bari had learned to take it and dish it back out without resorting to claws. That mean that they could have a lot more fun, even though she really should be getting back to patrolling.

With that thought Mosi got to her paws again. If she was surprised that Bari was fairing well she didn't show it. Maybe she just knew Bari was too stubborn to just keel over from a little heat, maybe she assumed Bari had gone through desert lands before, maybe she just didn't care enough to ask.

Then she did something surprising (though apparently not surprising to herself, or at least she didn't act it)

There's a pride here. You can come rest if you want.

The offer was almost off handed, it was just said that casually. Truthfully? She was happy to see a familiar face from the Pridelands again that wasn't family, at least not by blood. Her great aunt, father, mother, two uncles, at least two of her children, all there. No signs of any of her children with Juhudi, no Jini, no cousins.

And maybe she'd grown up a little in the last year or two and didn't hold much of a grudge anymore-- she was at least mature enough to offer some shelter from the heat to her old rival. Plus there were still the possible threats out there, and they'd already proven they wouldn't bother fighting fair. Even if she seemed alright in the heat she didn't know how Bari would fight on the sand. It took a lot of practice for her to get it. Maybe she'd apologize for the bitter climax from their last meeting, though she'd never be sorry for protecting her family.

Bari hated the nickname, and her disgusted facial expression showed it too. She was never one to take to any sort of name calling, whether it was out of spite or out of love (or just out of annoyance, which she was sure was Mosi’s case).

Bari had hated rogues back when she lived in the Pridelands. She thought they were so much inferior than she was for living the life the way they did. Now, the tables had turned. She was a rogue, and frankly, she found just how much those lions actually had to do just to survive. Pride life was a breeze compared to this. Her once sleek mocha fur was rough, and casted with a small layer of dirt in some places. While if Bari were still in any pride, she would be more presentable, but now she didn’t care. Rogues barely cared about looks, rather survival.

“Oh, you should try it,” although she held a sarcastic tone, she did enjoy living the rogue life. Who wouldn’t want a new adventure every day. “Although, I doubt you’d be able to do it,” but she knew she could (and wasn’t her father a rogue as well? She would always use the excuse that it must run in the family. After all, Denahi was born a rogue before becoming a prince of the Kusini lands). If she found Mosi in the desert of all places, then surely enough this lioness was strong enough to endure it.

Baridi was a bit taken aback by Mosi’s statement, and it showed. Her ears went from a flattened state to perked forward, and she was shifting uncomfortably unconsciously.

“…” At a loss for words. She could come back with some witty sarcastic comment about being banished from this pride too (although she really had no intention of joining), but she didn’t.

“…Thank…you?” what else could she say?
