Small and velveteen ears flitted forward and back as the lioness prowled, the soft grass blades tickling her skin as she hunted. It was early morning, so there was still plenty of shade and dim lit to help cover her dark fur as she moved about, trying to stay close to the taller grass patches. What exactly she was hunting for...she did not know yet. There were no fresh scents for her to pick up on, many of the trails she did cross were from the day before. But thankfully she wasn't too painfully hungry this morning.
Something small and light would do just well for her as a meal. A bird perhaps, or a meerkat?

Tu had already found his breakfast, and was happily crunching down a small unfortunate lizard. It wasn't much, but he'd find some fruit later to complete the meal. Being a maned wolf, Tu ate lots of fruit and vegetables, and that diet gave him the distinctive scent of his species. Other animals sometimes accused him of stinking, but to him it was perfectly normal, and even attractive if the scent originated from a female... He was not young anymore, but he wasn't dead, and those scents were still intriguing.
His ears moved constantly as he ate. The maned wold was fully aware of his weakness, and tried to make up for his stunted field of vision with his other senses. It was hard to hear small sounds over the crunching of tiny bones, but he tried.

Dark paws marched faster as the lioness finally caught a scent in the air. It wasn't fresh, but it wasn't dead either. And Kusu was no picky lioness when it came to a meal. Abandoning care in the hopes of a little fun, the predator purposely began to crunch the grass and dirt beneath her steps to let her presence known. Always a fun thing to create tension for her prey creatures. Swishing her tail and lifting her head high, the lioness peered over the dry grass to try and see what exactly she was stalking.
It wasn't too far away now. >3

Tu suddenly stopped eating, not because he was completely done but because he got a feeling. It might have been a suspicious sound, almost to quiet to hear, and he felt a tingling sensation in the back of his neck. Something was wrong. His ears were the only part of his body that was moving. Might have been a small animal, but he hadn't survived this long by being careless. Was it too quiet here?
"Who goes there," he barked. If it was just something small it would probably run, but since his belly was full he didn't care right now. If it was something larger, he'd deal with it when he knew...
