Avia's hooves were sore with journeying over the course of days, she didn't know how many exactly, though. She hadn't cared where she went, but it seemed everywhere she traveled, rain had followed. Her long mane was dripping, and she grunted in disgust. She despised her long hair, wishing nothing more than to chop it all off. Not having the means to do that, however, Avia had learned to put up with it.
The shower lightened to a drizzle as she took temporary shelter of a tree she didn't know the name of. It was just massively tall and protecting her from the chilling water, which is what she wanted. She too was hungry, though. No fruits were near by, and the ground was too muddied to make for anything tasty. Seeing a small creature scurry not three feet from her made her anger spike. What she hated more than her hair was not having the teeth it took to chew meat. She could swallow it in chunks, and it was alright tasting but she had not the ability to truly savor it.
Narrowing her eyes, she shook out her coat and watched the clouds roll above, their purple and blue complexion shifting in every direction.

 Someone was on his land.
The large soquili's red eyes narrowed as he slowly picked his way through the edges of his woods. Yes, his woods. He had done his best to keep his territory clearly marked, but the spring storm had likely washed away the scent trails, and hidden the cloven hooved scratched he'd pawed deeply in to the dirt. Of course, there were various bones that he kept scattered, a fine visual that something carnivorous lived near.
Unfortunately, many soquili weren't particularly observant. Others just plum were foolish, desiring to prove something of their worthless lives by challenging him. Keiran knew he was a young kalona, but he had been trained by the absolute best. Pure kalona, who knew their place, and understood just how great a lineage they could be! The world was covered with half-breeds, with mixes, with impurities . . . .weak kalona, those who didn't know the first thing about what it meant to powerful, to be feared, to be respected. Proud he might be, he wasn't stupid and he often didn't let his pride get in the way of his actions. Maeryn had taught him better than that.
Avia was absolutely clueless, wasn't she? As he lurked in the nearby shadow, investigating the intruder, he realized it was some sort of unicorn. She stuck out against the foliage, pressed against a tree, seemingly oblivious to her surroundings. While part of him wanted nothing better than to attack her, if only to prove her stupidity, he knew he couldn't and shouldn't assume. As Maeryn had shoved down his throat, lessers sometimes had their own strengths, their own abilities, and sometime were much more intelligent than they might let on. Hadn't her own mother - his late-grandmother- been destroyed by a group of lessers?
No.
He'd go cautiously and hopefully drive her off his land. She wasn't the sort he wanted anywhere near him, thank you. "If I were you, I'd be swift to turn around and head back the way you came." His voice was clear, a low snarl eminating from his throat. First, he'd wait to see if she was smart enough to take him at her word. Kieran had patience, but he also didn't like his authority questioned. Especially by lessers like her.

The voice startled her. Stupid rain probably blocked his advance, or he was greatly stealthy. Either way, it wasn't good to be taken off guard. Immediately, and with speed that she'd inherited from her "wind" blood, she was facing the voice that had interrupted her brooding, her own fierce snarl erupting from her throat, her ears laid flat, and her teeth bared, though they wouldn't do the damage her mentor would inflict. He was huge and fierce. Red eyes reminded her of what she thought her father's would look like, only white. His wings were about the same size as her, but had a claw. His spiked and disgusting tail, horns, teeth, and sharpened hooves. All his outward bodily weapons diagnosed at first sight. She was obviously out matched, physically, with out having Kesha hiding in the shadows.
She straightened, though her eyes narrowed, and her ears remained flat. She didn't know how to precede, and in such situations, what was one to do, other than wing it? She smiled darkly, and tilted her head sideways, and down slightly, her long mane flowing annoyingly forward. "And if I were you, I wouldn't had bothered of suggesting." She tilted her snout up slightly, her eyes peering at him down her nose, the smile still placed on her lips. "Greetings Stallion." She appraised his weapons now, jealous flickering in her eyes faintly.

A low grow emanated from Keiran's throat as the pale unicorn turned to face him. Unfortunately, the lesser didn't seem to have any sort of wit! Here she stood, not at all cowed by his appearance, and if anything seemed to take an aggressive stance in her own right!
What a fool she was. While he understood that she might be well practiced in the art of defense and attack, he still was stronger. Not only was he a large beast, but his great leather wings would be more difficult to destroy than feathers. His whip like tail could snap and wrap around her, could keep her down, his fangs could easily cut through feather and flesh. If she dare thought she stood a chance against him, she was sadly mistaken.
"Be gracious I didn't kill you while I had the opportunity, lesser," he spoke, his fangs bared. He wasn't at all intimidated by her, even with her long and deadly horn. She was no mare, she was nothing but a lesser to him, and someone unimportant. "But I truly feel you are but a waste of my time. I won't ask you again, be gone from this place else I'll remove you myself." He didn't need to tell her that his removal would be much more painful than her own.
Standing tall, he moved forward, bridging the distance between himself and the mare. He had no need of her, and he had no desire to speak or communicate. It irritated him to no end that she wasn't at all concerned to be in the presence of a kalona. Well, he'd give her a reason to be concerned! His mother had ingrained a sense of responsibility and pride in him, but had warned him not to foolishly enter battle with lessers. They had strength in numbers and she could certainly be a decoy to others out there.
His ears were alert though, and his body tense, ready for the unexpected. If he had to speak again to the pale coated mare, there would be no words. Only reaction to her (obviously) stupid and stubborn persistence.

A snarl wanted to rip up her throat as she imagined his blood all around her. She held it back, painfully, mind you. 'Lesser'? She felt rage plummet through her body like fire, her blush on her fair cheeks brightening a few shades no doubt. Her tail whipped back and forth, the only sign of her rage. Her smile was even still in place, though she had to change her footing as he advanced. She needed to be braced to lunge at any given moment.
It was true this beast before her had her beat if she were to let him get a hold of her. She could easily out run him, and was definitely much faster, if she could only stay from his grasp. Her horn was long, but maybe not long enough to wound him and still dodge a counter strike. Yes, she could only gouge him if it was at his heart, lung, or throat. Throat had the worst-case scenario. His teeth would cut her open too easily.
"Why do you presume to think I care what you believe?" Her voice was like ice whips, oddly opposite her body temperature at the moment that felt like open flame. She even went as far as taking a few steps of her own towards him. She had better learned damn good and well of bluffing from Kesha. If not, she was in deep s**t.
Her smile pulled back few inches from her teeth, transforming into a scowl. If he proved the warrior he claimed to be, she decided to run. But to run into his territory. If need be, she would take flight. She could out fly him, definitely. She could bring him down to where Kesha and her family resided. They would surely fallow, and this b*****d would be beat. Her tail continued to flick left and right, though her lungs were no longer pushing and sucking air, as she waited for the next deciding moments to happen.

What Avia assumed was that his territory was solely his own. What she couldn't realize this far out was that his mother, and all of his siblings, lived in overlapping lands. Where Keiran didn't devour the flesh of other soquili (though he wouldn't hesitate to kill if need be) some of his siblings weren't so well educated. She would be foolish to run deeper in to his territory, she as she would be foolish to assume he would follow her far out of his own.
If her bold attitude was supposed to intimidated him, or cause him to hesitate on his attack, Avia would be sadly mistaken. She would have been wise to duck her head and retreat, for all Keiran saw before him was an idiotic unicorn who had absolutely no common sense and was only taunting him. She took his warning and spit it back at him, uncaring, disrespectful of others claimed lands, and not even bothering to look slightly apologetic.
No. This female was a waste of space and heaven forbid she ever spawn.
Quirking a brow, one could almost say incredulously, Keiran gave a snort. "No manners and no brain." Well, he might as well put such a fool out of their misery. In a flash, the stallion pounced, but he didn't lunge directly at Avia. The leap itself was meant to startle the mare, while he whipped his tail around with easy, the long tendrils flying at Avia in an attempt to ensnare some part of her.
Keiran was trained both in air and on ground and was certainly a foe to be reckoned with. While Avia might have speed, one had to get away from the kalona first. It was just as well he had no mate or children his own, else the mare might truly be outnumbered.
((So I fail at fight scenes or battles but . . . you know . . . he just wants her gone. xD He's in no way impressed by her apparent lack of fear.))

If she survived, she would definitely have to pay tribute to Kesha the next time they met. If not for being taught about battling, or at least defense, Avia wouldn't have a chance. The small chance she had right now. The tendrills sink a shaking, cold flame of fear directly to her heart, and her muscles, with out thinking, stretched and released. That flashing second, she was barely out of reach of his tail. She then used the power of her wings to fly her back farther. Perhaps still into his territory, maybe not. There were no markers. Her anger spiked again. That b*****d.
A second later, most of her anger was directed at her mother. That wretch, giving her such a horrible gene pool. Disgusted, Avia smiled almost crazily. "Ignorance is such a blind disease." laughing shrilly, she took flight, soaring her body up with one hard kick. She flapped several times, seeing if he would give chase. Her curiosity was too much for her to try for a bigger head start.
( I've never written one honestly. ; ^; So I doubt I'd be any better than you. She hates herself almost as much as him, trust me. xD But she can't stand their hate and she has that backbone because of it. She wants to beat him, but she knows she can't. . ^. )

Keiran didn't need to waste precious energy by speaking to the mare. All he knew was she needed a lesson in manners and regard for others territory. It enraged the stallion that she had no fear of the kalona race, no fear that her life might very well be in danger. It disgusted him that such lessers now looked upon kalona as if they were something to be tamed, something to be 'dealt' with . . .
No, that wasn't right at all. The kalona heritage was a proud one, and it pissed him off that so many of his kind were settling with others species. They were tainting the blood line, they were causing impurities in the race, and it was not something Keiran tolerated. Had the kalona race forgotten itself? From all appearances, the Kawani soquili who lived in the lands had certainly forgotten to fear and respect kalona.
Had this been years ago, from the stories his mother had told him, soquili always kept an eye the sky. Just the appearance of leather wings sent them in to a fright and panic. Now, here, he had some wretched and ignorant mare, a unicorn at that, taunting him on his own territory. She deserved no less than to be ripped to pieces, if not killed, and he had every intention of doing such a thing. Or at least scaring her and driving her off. He didn't trust leaving his territory open, not with fools like her nearby.
As she jumped backwards, avoiding the thick tendrils upon his tail, Keiran kept his eyes solely on her. His crimson gaze burned with determination, his white fangs glistening as a snarl emanated from his throat. Ignoring his words, the stallion gave a great flap of his wings and bounded after her, showing no intent of slowing or discussing anything. She'd had her chance, it was time now for her to learn a great lesson. One she wouldn't forget . . . provided she managed to survive.
While she might be smaller than he, Keiran was well practiced in the art of battle. He knew these lands and was experienced on wing just as he was on the ground. He had her scent, and Avia could now consider herself hunted.
