Her tail flicked back and forth, the young Juvenille looking at the skyline.  The sky was turning pale pink in sunset colors, and Kimya'mwimbaji was beginning to get nervous.  Very soon, she and Nuru would be seperating to learn their new jobs.  She a Purifier, and he her guardian.  Currently, the bird-loving young leopardess purred to herself, happy that she'd become closer to what she wished to be.  But....she.....wanted more.  She wanted so much more....

Nuru was doing one of his favorite activities - watching Kimya. He wanted her to be safe and happy, and he truly believed that the easiest way to ensure both was to keep her in his sight as much as possible. Maybe it was a little silly and a touch overprotective, but he didn't want any harm come to her and he was always going to be there and make sure that nothing would hurt her. He barely even remembered why any more, but it had been a part of him for so long that he sometimes felt like he had been watching over Kimya forever. He wasn't sure how he would be able to protect her during training, but he would find a way. He had to find a way.

As always, Kimya could feel her brother's eyes upon her.  Tail flicking, her head turned, and the femme crooned, "Nuru~" He didn't have to just watch.  Kimmy liked it when he joined her.  She liked feeling close to her dearest brother.....feeling like she could be always safe.  He meant to her, that she wasn't alone.  Unlike Nuru, she remembered every detail of why they'd come so close....of....why they were here.

Padding over to Kimya, Nuru sat down next to her and placed a paw over hers, smiling at her. "What are you doing?" He asked softly, tilting his head as he watched her.

Licking his ear gently, she purred, "Sun....~  Pretty colors~."  She loved the  Sunset.  And now that Nuru was here, well.  It was just perfect.  Cuddling against him, she nuzzled into his chest ,gently.  "Nuru...~"  She sang softly, eyes closing as she let herself relax for a moment.  She was terrified of the day they'd part, and decided to keep with him as long as she could....

Nuru didn't say anything. Instead he just nuzzled her head and watched the sunset with her. It was a fairly peaceful moment, but through it all his thoughts were racing. He just couldn't slack off in his protection of her - not even for the sake of training. He had to protect Kimya; it wasn't even a desire so much as an urgent need, and if something happened to her it would be a thousand times worse than geting hurt himself. He had to figure out how to keep protecting her.

Licking his chest slightly, she was still purring softly.  Oh, how fond she was growing of her adopted brother.  Kimmy didn't understand this strange feeling.  It was something so foreign to her.  She supposed  that, perhaps her mother and father might know....but....

The young lion sighed softly and nuzzled Kimya again, his thoughts a mixture of frantic worry, the urge to make her feel better, and absolute adoration... though it was different than the kind he used to have for her, somehow? He didn't really get it, and it probably didn't matter because as long as he could protect her and see her safe and happy, that was really all he needed. "It will work out," he said quietly into her ear. "I'm sure we won't be apart for very long..."

The young femme purred softly, nodding, "....Promise~?"  Her song was sad and quiet, worried and frightened.  She'd never been without her family.  And though they had a mother and father, Nuru was still the only family she felt so strongly towards.  Heart pounding its low, worried thud, she murmured, "No....Not apart.....Never apart....~"  Each little snippet sung from her lips...well....they were reflecting her every fear in her peaceful little voice.

Nuru stood up and walked around until he was facing the leopard, and he made sure that he had eye contact with her before he spoke again. "I promise. Even if I have to work out a way all by myself, I won't let us be apart. I'll find some way to stay with you; to protect you. Always," he said, and licked her ear gently. "No more worries; I'll take care of you."

Heart soaring like a bird, Kimya looked at him with those big red eyes and seemed to nearly cry in relief.  "Nuru~!"  Leaning in to lick his nose over and over, the leopardess then curled against his chest, whimpering happily.  He meant everything to her.  Her world, her light in the darkness that was their past.....Their tragic....horror-filled past.

"Shh, it's okay," Nuru said, curling himself around her protectively. He meant everything he just said, and there was no way he would break his promise. He would die first. And since he had no intention of dying any time soon, then he would be able to keep his promise. The juvenile lion never wasted much time thinking about what had happened to himself and Kimya as cubs, because it was much better to think about now and how to make Kimya smile in that way that lit up her bright red eyes.

Kimya, unlike her brother, could not forget.  Her dreams were still haunted with the dark figure and cold laughter.  Each sound broke her heart and terrified her, each nightmare wrenching her soul in two.  But it was okay, because she always would have her beloved brother by her side to love her.  And to huddle around her when she got scared....

Nothing bad was ever going to happen to Kimya again. Nuru was certain of this because he was going to make it be that way. He knew of the terrors that haunted her dreams, and he only wished he could go into them and make them go away forever... but he couldn't, so the best he could do was reassure her once she'd woken up.

He was her brother, and she was in love with him.  Kimya wasn't sure of the swelling, warm feeling in her belly yet, but something inside her said this would keep her and Nuru together.  They were as close as siblings could be, with something else that neither could identify.  She would never let him go, "Brother~..."
