Colored Spring stepped up to the stage with not even a hint of trepidation, wuffling a little at the flowers that obscured his view of the most beautiful Kimeti alive. The nerve of some plant material, he thought, chewing absentmindedly on one of the flowers until some nervous tittering behind him reminded him why he was there.
"Havemercy!" Spring bellowed out in the general direction of the crowd. He hoped she was out there somewhere. It had taken him a damn long time to find out her name. Spring paused while the echoes died down to reminisce on how hard it had been. He had asked at least five Kimeti, none of whom had any idea who "that blazing hot red doe" was. Finally, as he slumped in despair, weary from his search, he heard a confused spring peeper squeak something that may have been construed (by tired delusion) as "Havemercy!" Yes! That is clearly what her name is! Spring thought to himself as an agitated stamping behind him brought him back to his senses.
"I know you have probably never seen me before, and I don't expect you to even have any idea who I am. But I must confess, I have been watching you—from afar—for months. The first time I saw you, strolling in the forest, with what I guess was probably a pair of rats—I wasn't looking at them at all, because I was awestruck by your beauty! Your coat, redder than the most vivid sunset! A scarlet hue so sublime that I found myself instantly enthralled and enamored! On that day, I knew I would have to make you mine!
"From that day on, whenever I found you again, I watched you for hours, entranced by your beauty and charm. Our coincidental meetings, of which you were unaware, made my life worth living! My heart is aflame with passion! All I ask is that you indulge me for just one night, and I will be satisfied. Seek out Colored Spring if you would grant this request." With that, Spring strode smugly off the stage, flashing a grin at the next buck shuffling awkwardly in line. Spring anticipated only that he would be successful, and the thought of failure had at no point occurred to him. Now that those darned flowers were out of the way, he would have a perfect view of the reaction of the most beautiful Kimeti alive to his stirring declaration.

 Havemercy was not expecting to hear her name called out from the stage -- quite loudly, she thought, wincing at the headache that seemed to be coming on fast -- as she finally stumbled her way out of the woods, Rook and Pawn chittering at her nonstop. The two mongeese had practically pounced on her when she had emerged from the trees, herding her away from the forest. Rook, the elder, snapped at her almost angrily, while his daughter Pawn made some rather high-pitched worried whimpering sounds that only served to increase Have's impending headache. " Ugh...could you two just shut up for a few minutes?" the red doe grumbled, looking around to see who in hell had called out to her. She spotted the buck on the stage and squinted to see him better, her eyes still bleary from her misadventures. "Who is that? Gehh...holy swamp mother, what possessed me to eat those mushrooms?" she muttered to herself as she began pushing her way through the crowd of kimeti to get a closer look at the buck who was now -- she thought -- confessing some sort of affection for her. She was only half-listening as she finally made her way to the front of the stage, her mind still lost in what the hell had happened back there in the woods. I can't even remember... she shook her head, deciding to worry about it some other time, and tried to turn her attention to the buck on the stage. He seemed...well, vaguely familiar, she had at least seen him around before, but beyond that she knew nothing about him. He's handsome though, she thought, eyeing the soft swirls that twined up his legs. A bit of a creep, she noted, raising an eyebrow. He's been following me? What's that all about? She frowned a little and watched him as he sauntered off the stage. Still...he could be interesting, she thought, always up for adventure, and began to trot toward him, ignoring her headache.

Colored Spring smirked when he caught sight of the apple of his eye (a phrase that meant more to him than most Kimeti, because his most favorite fruit ever was apples) trotting in his direction immediately after he stepped off the stage. Yeah, there was no way she wasn't moved by that. Maybe she wasn't exactly enraptured now, but it was enough that she was moving in his direction (on purpose). Colored Spring's smirk widened to a grin that could only be described as predatory, and he strutted brazenly in her direction, giving a casual kick to a baffled green buck nearby as he passed. ("Ow! Motherfatheralmighty, what did I ever do to you!?" could be heard from that direction.)
When he reached the most beautiful Kimeti in the world, Colored Spring was a decidedly unpopular swampgoat, but he ignored the general whisperings of the crowd around them and took a moment to take an eyeful of the most beautiful Kimeti there ever was and ever would be. Even better up close! He forced himself to stop staring at her and crooned, "Should we go somewhere quieter?"

Havemercy suppressed a snort of amusement at the path of disgruntled kimeti the buck left behind in his attempt to reach her. "Sure," she replied to his question. Rook made a disapproving noise from the ground where he was following her. Have ignored it and rolled her eyes. "Though I've gotta tell you I missed about half of what you said. What's your name again?" she asked, raising an eyebrow at the handsome buck.

Colored Spring bullied his way through the crowd, ostensibly to clear a path for the lady, but mainly to be a douchebag. "My name is Colored Spring," he said, as he walked/shoved Kimeti out of his way. "And, I have to say...I did say," he said, with a hint of pique, "that you are the most beautiful Kimeti that walks the Swamp. More radiant than sunset, more charming than the curious cardinal..." His voice trailed off, and his ears twitched subtly at the effort of maintaining his silver-tongued facade. "None of the Kimeti in this crowd can so much as catch my eye, when you are the only one I see." The orange buck stretched when he was clear of the crowd, and started meandering in some direction, seemingly without purpose.

Havemercy followed the path of destruction that Colored Spring created, motioning with a flick of her tail to her mongeese that they could go off on their own for a while. (Rook glared at her huffily for a moment before turning and skittering off toward the trees in frustration, his daughter Pawn trailing behind him.)
The red doe laughed as the buck finished his speech. "That's very flattering of you, I'm sorry I missed the original, polished proclamation." He was a rather ridiculous buck, she thought, but definitely amusing. And she needed some amusement right now. "But it's a pleasure to meet you, Colored Spring. You can call me Have." She grinned at him. "Shall we go find a quiet place to...talk?"

Colored Spring nodded, leading the doe to a shady grove some distance away from the festival to...talk. (and then a euphemism occurred) and Havemercy was never seen or heard from againInstead of discussing that, here is a commemorative sketch! :V
