Kyam'itan closed his eyes, his body weary as he more dragged himself, then walked into the healer's den. He leaned against the gnarled root that made up the entrance, taking a moment to catch his breath and steel his heart. Few were awake at this hour, it was deep night, so there had been none to tell him how Ru fared, if she even lived.
Toruk and he had scoured the border, and into the Roguelands hunting the white lion, but the trail had grown cold and they had only been given leave for a handful of days. If they did not find him, they were to return, once they were sure the Inkimayan lands were secure.
The Night Scout had been torn, between finding the male responsible for the injuries to the one he considered his mate, and returning to her side. Toruk had made it easy, and turned them back, pushing them both to their physical limits to reach home in a day and a half. His cubhood friend had gone to report, allowing Kyam'itan to come here to the healer's den.
Pushing off against the root, the weary male made his way into the dimly lit den and scanned the few occupied hammocks for his atokirina.

A white tail could be seen flopped over the side of one of the hammocks. It flipped idly from the left and right, the slight rocking movements of the hammock. The sounds of someone entered the den had not caused any suspicion for the lioness. After all, few had already come and gone for smaller ailments, no matter what time of the day or night it was. What would be any different about this quiet visitor?
But when she heard no words spoken from the healers, curiosity piqued at her mind. Who was there that hadn’t really caused the healer’s to begin their treatments or even really move (those who still were awake at least). An ear flickered, her body slowly shifting causing the hammock to sway even more.
Bandages made from long flat leaves and vine hugged her neck and shoulder. Although the bleeding had stopped a few days ago, the wounds would ooze occasionally. She was also told that the leaves were coated with some sort of residue that would help the healing process and reduce scarring to a minimal. Ru only hoped those words were true, she didn’t need the pink scars to stand out against her bluish white pelt.
Her cerulean eyes widened as she spotted the lion she dreamed about ever since arriving in the pride. Did this mean he still loved her?
She looked around the den, not wanting to cause a scene from the healers as she slowly lowered herself from the hammock (luckily, it was low to the ground to avoid any issues of falling out).
“…Kaym…?” She called out quietly, creeping little by little up to him. He hadn’t visited her since she had been here, causing the lioness to believe that he did not feel the same way as she.

Kaym'itan's ears flicked forward as he turned toward the sound of his name, the breath he had not realized he'd been holding leaving him as he closed the distance between them in two long strides.
He caught her up within his embrace, pulling her against his ruff as he laid his chin on her head, the relief in his voice a physical thing, " Irayo eywa nga rey." He whispered, breathing in her scent. " I am sorry beloved that I was not here when you woke. Tourk and I tried to find the white lion. Txoa oe."
The Night scout pulled back, looking at her, " What are you doing out of your hammock? Eywa bless, but you look so frail. Are you hurting my love?" The concern that laced the deep timbers of his voice so unlike him, it made the healer on duty look up, an eye brow raised. "Come, you should not be up...lay back down and I will lay on the ground beside you."
Truth be told, the shaggy maned male looked exhausted, spread leaf thin. It was amazing he was still on his paws.

Ah, she had not missed the fluttering her heart gave when both their skins would touch. She didn’t care if she was suppose to limit her movements, but that all flew out her mind currently. She just wanted to stay with Kaym’itan, have him hold her until the days turned to night, and eventually back to day again.
“I was…afraid you didn’t want to see me…after…” her voice drifted, not wanting to look into his crimson eyes.
Her body stilled as soon as he mentioned the white lion. “D..did you get him…?” While Kaym had been in her dreams, Nafasi had been in her nightmares. “..nevermind,” she didn’t really want to know whether if he was alive or dead. Although… she would prefer the latter of the choices.
She shifted herself so she was nuzzled into his mane. “I…uh…” she was honestly tired of being cooped up in the healer’s den. She just wanted to go outside again, sit at sunset as the jungle awakened with those magical creatures. Here in the den was boring. “I missed you, and when I saw you come in I just…wanted to see you…” well, her logic wasn’t the greatest, but she did miss him.
Ru gave a small smile. “Not currently,” she said quietly. Whatever pain was elicited from the wounds was out the window as soon as she saw him. “These bandages have some sort of…numbing solution on it to help take away any pain I may feel.” She would give a shrug, but strayed from the thought. Somehow that wouldn’t be the best idea.
She nodded when he told her that she should lie back down, totally oblivious to the raised eyebrow look the healer had given him. Upon a closer look at her love, she spoke quietly, “I think you need more rest then I, Brother.” She purred again, leaning slightly against Kaym as they walked back the hammock she had dubbed as ‘hers’ for the time being.
“You can rest in it with me,” Ru offered when they neared her hammock. That way, he didn’t have to lie on the cold hard floor, and she would have something warm to snuggle against.

Kaym'itan nuzzled her ears, keeping her close against him, " Yawne, why would you think I would not wish to see you." He looked down at her with his crimson eyes, his feelings laid bare for her, " when all I See is you." He laid his head along hers, letting her feel the beat of his heart.
" I did not find him Rou, but I will. He can not hide forever, Toruk will arrange for us to search for him again, but for now...for now I will not leave your side until you are healed. Come, let's get you back in bed." He walked with her slowly, mindful of the wounds she still was recovering from.
" The hammock is far to small Yawne, and I would not wish to hurt you." He swallowed, suddenly looking like a shy cub, " and..and we are not mated. It would be...forward of me to lay beside you." Covering his embarrassment he went about helping her into the hammock, a blush coming to his nose.

If she could rest sitting up, she would stay right here, listening to his heartbeat all night long. However, she had a feeling the healers would not allow such action for a patient on the mend, so she just settled to stay here just a moment longer. She sighed softly when he requested she get back in bed. Soon, maybe a few more days, she would be out of here. Then, Kaym and herself could officially be a true ‘family’.
Ru couldn’t help but smile at Kaym’s reaction. He was just too cute when he was embarrassed. “I don’t think it would be forward...of you…” she said softly, but stepped into the low hammock, it swinging as she laid in it. She had offered the more comfortable sleeping area anyways… Her head peered over the side to still be able to see Kaym.
“Soon…then....we will exchange our vows for each other?” A white paw reached out to Kaym to touch his cheek. Ru was nervous for that time to come. It would be the ending of one chapter of her life, and then a beginning of a new.

Kaym'itan held the hammock still so she could crawl in, his eyes sweeping over her wounds, the worry easily read in them as he curled the edges up to make sure she did not fall out.
Laying himself down on the ground, his head even with hers, he leaned into the touch of her paw, " Yes my love, as soon as you are healed we will go to Txuratan, and he will speak the words before the Tree of Voices, and you and I will be mated in the eyes of Eywa."
The stoic Night Scout touched his nose to her, resting his forehead against her own, " I See you Roukopa-eupa, and I love you." His usually gruff voice was soft with emotion, the words a warm breath against her fur.

If she thought she was content before, now she truly was! Just the ever so softness of their two noses touching was enough to make the female melt (pretty much literally too, as her body sank low in the hammock). She closed her eyes, purring.
“Oel ngati kameie, Kaym’itan,” she whispered to him, eyes opening to stare right into his red orbs. “I love you too,” she broke away from the male, wishing she wasn’t in this healer’s den so she could cuddle up next to the male.
“You get some rest too,” she continued to purr. Ru did not want her mate to lose anymore sleep because of her.

" Oel ngati kameie," the Night Scout whispered to her, placing a gentle lick to her muzzle, " I will sleep well tonight Yawnebecause I know you are safe and I know I am the one who will protect you as you sleep. I trust no other, save perhaps Toruk."
He licked her again, and set his head down on the edge of her hammock, " Sleep now Ru, I will be here when you wake." Kaym'itan was exhausted, he'd pushed himself hard for many miles to come home to the beautiful white lioness beside him. He knew he would not rest until she was deeply asleep, and he was sure she was safe and sound.

“Goodnight, Kaym,” she kept her voice still quiet, so not to wake any others in the den. She maneuvered her head so that it was near Kaym’s before blackness lulled her into a peaceful sleep. Tonight, she would not dream of those horrid blue eyes that floated around her, or the memory of losing her mother. Instead, it was just a mix of white and blue peace. She knew she had nothing to worry about anymore.
