Painite was sure she had seen a senshi in this area that she hadn't been before. Not that she accounted herself the master of knowing all senshi who came in and out of this particular section of town, but still.
The fact remained: there was a senshi she hadn't seen before, and it would be rude not to introduce herself to the young lady, wouldn't it? Captain Painite was anything but rude, and she was certain she would be breaking with proper 'bad guy good guy' relations if she did not make the first move. Of course, if you asked her who the good guy was, she'd probably give a different answer than the senshi.
In any case, she did what any self respecting master of villainy would do: she set a trap that hopefully the senshi would trip on her way back this way. She was taking a leap, assuming the girl would come back the way she had gone, or had any reason to at all, but certainly someone would walk this way eventually, and she'd get something out of the night. She was waiting on the roof, powered down so she wasn't noticed, crouched and peering over the edge. She'd power up before dropping down.
There was a body sitting in the middle of the street, arms tied behind their back, head lulled forward on their chest, propped up on a garbage can she had dragged out from the alley. He was leaning back on it, unconscious, drained.
Someone would have to go and see if he was okay, right? If not, at least she got his energy out of the effort, so the night wasn't wasted entirely.

There was something to be said of practice. Kallichore had taken to the streets again that night, the third time that week. She supposed most new senshi did the same, learning the ins and outs of their new craft. She learned that she could leap further than she had expected, and fall farther (though not without injury) and she was generally more powerful when she donned the suit. The senshi in red hadn't plotted a particular course each night she patrolled, and hadn't decided whether she should set up a route or not. As she leaped past another building, something caught her eye. Something that wasn't normally there - a man in the middle of the street, laying down.
Tracing her way back, she didn't pick up any energy signatures indicated what had happened to the man. As far as she could tell, there wasn't another powered soul, Nega or otherwise. She dropped to street level and trotted up to the man, kneeling down to shake him by the shoulders. As she did so, she kept an eye out for anyone else, but didn't see a soul. Where did the police decide to go when things like this were happening? But it was alright now that she was here. It was her job.
"Sir? Sir, are you alright? Can you hear me?" she asked firmly, shaking him each time she did so. He seemed to be asleep, tied up and propped against a trash can. That was unusual. Obviously he couldn't have tied himself up. It could have been gang activity or other crimes since there wasn't a single energy signature to prove otherwise. However, Kallichore would soon find out that Negas did not play nice.

Painite grinned.
She saw the senshi coming, though in her powered down state she couldn't feel her. Adjusting her glasses on her nose, the sea green eyed reporter watched as the Senshi walked right into her trap. The fly to the web, as it were.
The man was unresponsive to the prodding and shaking, presumably fast asleep or deeply unconscious. Painite had been sure to take as much energy as she could, without permanently damaging him. As far as she knew, anyway.
Deciding it was time, she leaped. She powered up almost before she was over the rail of the building, falling down from the roof and using that short space of time to summon her weapon. Everything was planned out. It had to be perfect.
"HEY SENSHI!"
She was holding her javelin above her head, plummeting down toward the senshi rapidly, and swinging the sharp stick down as if to stab her right away. Where was the point in wasting time? They were supposed to kill these pests, after all.
She had done her part in the niceties of rivalry: she had said hello. Now it was time to say goodbye.

Kallichore had little time to react before someone came plummeting down on her, a spear in her hand. The edge grazed her right thigh as the senshi gasped and made to roll away. Dammit, of course it was a trap, how stupid could she be? She would curse herself later, after she was out of immediate danger. Clearly this chick was from the Negaverse, and it steeled the senshi's opinion of them - they certainly didn't have any qualms about getting down and dirty when it came down to it. She had to save the citizen before anyone else got hurt. The cut on her thigh was open and started to bleed, causing a sharp pain to well up from her leg. Kallichore tried to stand tall and work through the injury as best she could.
Damn it. Damn it all.
She would only have one chance to fire off her attack, but it was too much of a long shot at this point. Looking around, she saw a trash can with a lid just asking to be thrown. That was exactly what Kallichore did - quickly taking up the metal disk, she threw it at the Negaverser with as much strength as she could muster. The further they could get from civilians, the better. Darting off down the street, Kallichore tried to mock Painite into following her.
"Hey Nega, what are you compensating for with that stick of yours, huh?!"

Painite grinned as she landed as lightly as she could, pulling her spear back on instinct, spinning it around and holding it behind her, the long staff touching her back, one point aimed at the floor, the other the sky.
Letting out a raucous laugh, she shook her head.
"Very quick, little Senshi! You're getting blood on you, though, how sad! It doesn't match your outfit. At least not yet."
Her banter was interrupted, however, as a trash can's lid came whirling at her. She yelped and dropped herself backwards on instinct, but the lid clipped her in the chin and knocked her onto her back. She banished her weapon for a moment before she landed, scrambling to her feet and summoning it again with a flourish while she rubbed her chin ruefully.
"That's the only hit I'm going to give you," she said quickly, acting as if she had allowed herself to get struck. Yeah. Totally. She grinned again, though her expression was severe. Of course, she wasn't talking to anyone. "Hey! Wait! I'll show you 'compensating'!"
She charged after the senshi, shifting her grip on the long staff. It was shaped like a javelin, though she had never thrown it like one before. What better chance than now to try it out? She threw it as hard as she could, hoping her aim would be good enough to hit the senshi, though the force of her own throw made her stumble and she didn't actually see it fly.

The clicking of heels and the pump of her beating heart were all Kallichore could hear for several minutes, her breath catching the night air like smoke. She turned to see that the Negaverser was indeed following her. Good. Looking ahead, her eyes darted from side to side. She had lots of things to keep in mind - civilian safety, possible other weapons, hiding places, vantage points... Shops were closed down and the places to hide successfully were limited at best. The lighting on the street was simply too good for her to duck anywhere without being seen.
Before she knew it, a spear came rocketing towards her. With a strangled yelp, Kallichore made to stop herself and slow her momentum to get out from under the sharp end of the weapon. She overcompensated and landed on her rear, using her boot heels to slow herself down. The spear landed not inches from her knee. Releasing the breath she held, Kallichore knew what her only option was at this point.
Close the distance.
She tried to kick the spear further away from the Nega, but it didn't get far. Instead, Kallichore launched herself at the Captain, intent on grappling her somehow.

Painite laughed tauntingly, an echoing hoot, when she saw the senshi fall. At first she had thought her spear had managed to do some damage, but it became clear that the senshi had managed to pull herself backwards and drop away from the trajectory of the weapon. A shame, but it still got her to slow down.
So not a complete loss.
Grinning broadly, she saw Kallichore try to kick the weapon away. Like that would keep it out of Painite's reach, maybe? Unlikely: she could simply banish it and resummon it to her hand if she needed to. For now, though, she opted to see if she couldn't fight the senshi hand to hand.
Not her forte, but she needed the practice. And she was feeling very cocky, overly so, with the way the fight was going. She didn't have a care in the world, and was eager to push her limits, see what other amazing things she could do, and how impressive she really was.
There was no better way than to try it.
She stopped in her run suddenly, hands lashing out to catch the senshi as she tackled, the two locked in a grapple just as Kallichore had imagined. Painite grinned at her, bright sea green eyes alight with mockery and bravado.
"What's the matter, little senshi? All puffed out?"

The grappling idea did not go as she had expected.
Apparently, this whole hand-to-hand business was rougher than Kallichore expected. Whoever this Negaverser with the spear was, she was more powerful than Kallichore. The senshi's back met with the ground in a violent way, no doubt scratching and scraping her up like she'd been on the street luge. Tattered gloves grabbed at Painite's shirt while she was pinned, trying to shove her knee into the Captain's ribcage. Painite was strong, no doubt about that. Definitely above a base officer in some capacity, which made Kallichore very nervous.
Ares had said to retreat and live against Negas you could not defeat, because you could come back stronger if you lived to tell the tale. Since Kallichore was only a base senshi, there wasn't much she could do against Painite. Several thrown kicks and punches connected possible one third of the time, the teen's teeth gritted and bared as she tried to throw the Captain off of her. She didn't care how ridiculous they looked like this, locked in a deathmatch in the middle of the street.
She couldn't show desperation yet, and she saw an opportunity to try something. Part of the Nega's uniform had been torn in the struggle, and Kallichore's head was near that arm. Swallowing any pride she had as a senshi, she leaned over and tried to sink her teeth into the Nega as best she could.
(( Permission granted by Lith to try that. XD ))

The Captain was very glad for her Negaverse granted strength. Senshi were hopeless, really, in that regard: they couldn't compare to the physical capabilities of the Negaverse. Without their stupid little magic tricks, they would be entirely useless! And in a fight like this, hand to hand, Painite knew she had a good advantage.
Not to mention that she was fighting what seemed to be a newbie senshi. Was it mean to be brawling with her like this? Of course it was, and Painite very much enjoyed it. It's just what they deserved, by the simple fact that they were senshi.
She felt a knee connected to her ribs, though, and that hurt a bit more than she would like to admit. She'd be bruised, but that was nothing a good night stealing energy couldn't cure.
"I think I'm going to break some of your bones, just to see what it's like!" She taunted, and was immediately thrown backwards when she felt teeth in her arm. Infuriated and shocked, she stumbled back from the fight, up on her feet. "You BIT me! You don't BITE people!! If I have to get a rabies shot I am going to be so cross!"
Her face was a mixture of anger and a petulant pout. She called her weapon to her once more, gripping it tightly, her face flushed from embarrassment as well. Her whole game plan and confidence was thrown off by that.

Rolling away from the Captain, Kallichore finally stood after her bite actually did something good. Yes, it was disgusting, but at least she was still alive to tell the tale. The last thing the senshi wanted was to be broken in half and have her starseed stolen. But she couldn't win this fight, no matter how hard she tried. This spear-wielding captain was simply too much for her at this juncture, so Kallichore needed an escape plan. She also needed to save that civilian...
She had no other choice. Calling up her attack, steamlike mist surrounded the senshi. "Pulse of the Maddened!" Covering her ears, Kallichore scooped up the mist and launched it at the captain and then turned quickly on her heel. She made a bee line for the civilian, hoping the attack would land and distract the Captain long enough for her to make her escape.
That was an awful lot to be pinning your hopes on.
What was she thinking? It was obviously a trap. How could she be so stupid? Kallichore would have to kick herself later for such a thing. For now, her focus was on the civilian and escaping with their lives. She had no doubt in her mind that the Captain would try to kill them both at the next opportunity.

Painite was ready for anything the senshi threw at her. She was a well trained fighting machine! Her mind was built for traps and plotting: she could stay ten steps ahead of this newbie senshi, damn it. Nothing she tried would get the better of her, and she was certain she could triumph.
The attack, of course, completely blindsided her.
She didn't know what was happening at first. The senshi called out her attack and Painite was expecting something to hit her, but instead it was a simple gust of mist around her. She was compelled to laugh, but she stopped quite suddenly.
Voices.
They were ringing in her head, filling her ears. She didn't know what they were or where they had come from, but they were speaking to her quickly, impossible to hear, over each other, each saying something different. She could catch different words, banging against her ear drums or against the inside of her skull. Die. Fight. Fail. Lose. Regret. Useless.
By the time the daze cleared she was feeling squashed, all her hard won and built up confidence completely eaten and worn away, her nerves frayed. She looked around only to find the senshi had run off in her distraction. What a dastardly trick! First biting, then that awful attack.
Painite was not going to stand for it. She had a new rival to hunt.
She would teach that newbie a few lessons in incurring the wrath of this negaverse captain.

When Kallichore reached the unconscious civilian man, she went about trying to untie him, looking up to see that spear-wielding Nega hadn't moved from her spot. Good. Maybe something had happened with Kallichore's attack, but she couldn't stick around to really find out. Taking the civilian up on her shoulders, she shook the man to see if he would wake. Since it didn't work, she'd have to try and bear the brunt of his weight to take him to the police station. Dragging the man along would be difficult, but it needed to be done while the Nega was distracted. It was about all her attack was good for. His shoes scraped the ground and progress was slow, but the adrenaline pumping through her system made her scratches, scrapes and bruises seem dulled.
Before the night was up, she'd have him planted on the doorstep of the police station, but wouldn't stick around to explain herself. She was on the side of the terrorists now, and no doubt the police wouldn't trust her explanation. Instead, she waited on a nearby rooftop in shadow, watching for any other energy signatures until the man was in better hands. Then she disappeared into the night like dust in the wind.
