Yeah, I knew it was going to be bad, and I had Twi-vibes coming at me from the beginning, but I refuse to let my fear of bad stories like Twilight and The Vampire Diaries scare me off of Monster moves which feature vampires or werewolves for the rest of my life! There was always bad fiction out there before, and will continue to be, but there will also be those rare gems admits all the trash and I shall continue to wade through the junk until I find those sparkling jewels (dead Lord, its hard to even write that without cringing for the association Twilight has brought to it) for as long as I am able to fight for the peace and liberty of literature!
Now, I knew it was going to be bad even before I went to see it, so I went in there with pretty low expectations, thinking at best I would get a lot of gore with some pretty stuff to look at in between. What I got instead was very little gore except for maybe the last scene or so, just as few pleasing images, some mediocre acting, lots of bad writing, and lots and lots of Twilight-esque romantic drama featuring stupid teenagers who I ended up hating not even 15min into the film.
I encourage you, my brothers and sisters of the cause, to be brave and give future Vamp and Wolf fiction a chance! Do not base your opinion on the film entirely upon what other have heard you, make your own opinions!...But probably wait for the DVD release...if its on sale...or really cheap to rent.

Gad! amanda seyfried~! You're wasting all your talent and those beautiful eyes!!! >.< I can't even write your name with proper capitals right now!!!
Yes. The theme was exactly the same. Forbidden, dangerous, unbenefitting love with a strange creature. The other lover. And of course, the weird unexplainable lighting that of twilight.
When this movie first came out, I wanted to see it- but then, I had only seen the tail end of the preview for it. >.< I'm very glad my boyfriend refused to watch it and we saw something else instead.
I had been hoping for a darker version of red riding hood, something along the lines of movies like "The Brothers Grimm"
There are good vampire and werewolf movies/books, etc out there. They're jsut few and far between, sadly. For were and vampy movies anymore, I wait until the fan reviews come out and see what they say before just plunging in blindly.
As for books, I've just finished up the 4th book in what had been, at the start, a deliciously dark and twisted vampire and fallen angel series. However, the 4th book the author has pulled the fangs on the vampire- he used to be smart-mouthed, bad-a** and sexy, and in this book, she turned him stupid and pretty much butchered his character, and has recycled the exact same plot (kill and torture said vampire) just new players in the game. neutral

Well, me too. I wanted a darker Riding Hood. It's top three in the list of stories I want turned adult, dark and sexy...
1) Alice in Wonderland 2) Little Red Riding Hood 3) Hansel and Gretel
I was obviously quite disappointed. I thought it'd be like what they did to Robin Hood. crying

Wow I thought I was the only one who wanted sinister versions of all those classic Fairy Tales. Personally I want to see a Cinderella that's more true to the Brothers Grim version or films made of the non-popular but more twisted stories they made like "The Juniper Tree".

Well I don't even trust those. Remember, the fans and reviewers had plenty of good things to say about the film and while there were certainly less bad reviews those were considerably more potent. The point is you just can't trust the reviews. Its better to take your chances and make your own decisions. Wait for DVD and rent it if you're really not sure!
Btw, has anyone seen the reviews for Red Ridding Hood? I haven't been keeping my ear to the ground on that.

I'm glad I took a look at this conversation because I thought Red Riding Hoodwas a darker version of the Brothers Grimm tale. Wow, I would have been so disappointed.

Oh, I don't go by critic or "official" reviews- I usually go by reviewers on forums who I know that have tastes similiar to mine in movies, or I'll go by friends' reviews.
I saw the commercial and though "TWILIGHT WITH WEREWOLVES."
Yeah.

Now that we have a Twilightfied Red Riding Hood, let's all imagine a Twilightfied version of the Three Little Pigs.( I'm not trying to make fun of overweight people) Interspecies furry yaoi love.
