Found this on Youtube and had to share! Now before anyone gets their backs up let me just say that I was a Disney Princess growing up! Sort of... I actually wanted to be Maleficent, who is more of a Disney Queen...and a villain...But still, I was into the Princesses as well!
This film reminded me that while the Disney Princesses did have their good qualities- putting special emphasis on virtues of friendship, bravery, and most of all love- they also had a bit of a darker side. It really all depends on how you wish to view the glass, half empty or half full. And that made me thing...maybe Bella Swan is the Disney Princess of a new generation. I know this thought comes with no small amount of horror for many of us, myself included, but it could be true. I would never go so far as to call Bella Swan the equal of any Disney Princess, or Edward Cullen anyone's Aladin or Prince Erik, especially since Twilight seems to emphasis only the virtue of love (as SMeyer perceives it) and says to hell with things like family and friendship and of course the poor relationship with her father which makes her almost the polar opposite of any Disney Princess who all seem to be motherless things with very close relationships with their fathers, but it doesn't really make it any less true, I should think.
You know, now that I've typed that out and its in front of me... Bella Swan is kind of the Anti-Disney Princess. That is to say, she has all the faults of one but none of the good qualities that Walt Disney tried to install in little girls. And if Disney Princesses are a breed of Mary Sue then I guess this makes Bella Swan...an Anti-Sue?
I'll have to think on that more and get back to that. Maybe you all have something to add?
Anyway, enjoy your vid!

After reading the links you provided, I have to conclude that Bella is an anti-Sue.

Personally I always saw Bella as a sort of hybrid cross between an Anti-Sue, a Self-Insert/Wish Fulfilment Sue, and an Angst-Sue. Her tendency to behave as if every aspect of her love life is a tragedy if it doesn't go well sort of throws me off. And if you read the detailed description that Meyer posted of Bella's appearance (on her website I believe) it's pretty obvious she's just a younger version of herself. That being said she doesn't hold a candle to the Disney Princesses. Bella's character is selfish, self-absorbed, and very ungrateful towards many of the other characters she meets while most of the Disney Princesses are not. It's probably the only way Disney can still rake in the cash with them. They have all the flounce of your standard Sue but they have enough redeeming qualities to not piss off the masses too much.
