The Negaverse Captain was feeling good about herself.

She was fighting more, hunting more, enjoying herself more. She had confidence to spare, and was thinking more and more about her traps and plans and deviousness. Getting better at it all, improving herself and her mind, never letting herself rest even when she was powered down. She was always thinking, always energized.

She was at the top of her game.

There were many things she still needed to do. Though she had some experience under her belt in using her weapon upgrade, she was still very aware that she did not know her staff half as well as she had her hobby horse from before, Mr. Saddles. She was dedicated to training, and practice, picking targets that looked easy or interesting, who offered specific challenges for her to overcome with her weapon.

Recently she had been using it as a stick to hit things with, to block or fight with like a sword. A very long sword. Or maybe the staff Donatelo uses in Ninja Turtles. She wanted to use it more as a lance, a charging weapon, to see if she could run something clear through. Or at least down to the wrap of sandy hair nearer the top end of the staff.

Stabbing. That had to be fun, right?

She was on the hunt tonight, humming to herself as she moved along the alleys, the best place to find trouble and targets. She'd move over to the park soon, if she didn't get enough of what she wanted here. She was starting to think that there wasn't anything she couldn't take on and beat at this point.

The young senshi probably should have been in bed but instead she was walking down the street, taking note that the hustle and bustle that was usually here had boiled down to nothing more than a simmer. Who needed to sleep when you were the senshi of sleep anyways? Certainly not this young senshi, who at this very moment let out a yawn, carefully covering her open mouth with her hand until she was done. She looked around, and smiled. No one saw that, she wasn't tired! Well, a certain bunny seen it and she felt his eyes on her and with a pout she said, "Just a bit longer, please."

Nothing. The bunny seemed to cave and the child smiled again before she began to around. It was awfully quiet, so when someone walked in the alley nearby, the child heard it quite clearly. She couldn't see anyone, but she heard it. Her interested perked, the child took a few bunny slipper footsteps towards it until her hands were hanging over the edge of a building, her eyes peeking into the alleyway. Just who was there? She wanted to know so badly! Her curiosity getting the better of her, the child called out, "Hello, is anyone there?"

Painite looked up in surprise when she heard a voice. It sounded a little young for her tastes, as she was not the kind of person who would take energy from a kid, but she thought she might as well check it out. Teach the kid a lesson for coming around here at night, presumably on her own.

And if she did have her parents nearby, they would make good targets.

Ducking down behind a trashcan, Painite realized the voice was not echoing around the area, but rather coming from above it. She looked up to spot something with an energy signature: a senshi, clearly. But it was... awfully small. Maybe it was the senshi of youth or something like that, and only looked like a child.

Senshi had a lot of stupid things going on, she wouldn't be surprised.

This wasn't to say Painite was unfamiliar with the young senshi she had seen in battle fields before. She simply wasn't thinking about them, as eager for a fight as she was. She moved to climb up the building, scaling it as quickly as she could. When she poked her head up over the edge she said, "boo!"

She quickly saw, though, that this wasn't a senshi. It was a chibi one. A little kid. She frowned.

Hypnos wasn't expecting anyone to suddenly poke their head over and say boo! She clearly wasn't familiar with things that went bump in the night and with a meek and startled scream the child's arms flew up into the air, causing the plush bunny that she had been holding to fly up into the air with her voice. It took a moment and then the child panicked. Was she afraid of the negaverse soldier in front of her? No. Her bunny was going to fall on the ground and get dirty because of her fault. She couldn't have that and quickly she scrambled to try and catch it. She did catch it, however, it fell on her head instead of into her arms.

How embarrassing. You're not supposed to catch a prince, or anything else, with your head.

She shook her head softly, allowing the bunny plush to fall into its proper place in her arms, before she looked carefully at the person who had startled her. With a red face, her blue eyes almost didn't want to face the person. However, in a battle between Hypnos and her curiosity: her curiosity would always win. First she seen teal eyes and for a moment she thought she had met this person before, but upon further inspection she was proven wrong. She did not know this person.

At least, not yet.

Hypnos was not opposed to changing this, giving a little curtsy to the other person. After a curtsy, the next step was an introduction and with a small smile the child gave a greeting, "Hello! My name is Sailor Chibi Hypnos. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Painite watched as the kid panicked and threw her rabbit into the air. It was kind of funny, and she got to watch the show as she climbed up onto the roof and looked at the little senshi more directly.

She frowned. The senshi had slippers on, and immediately Painite knew it was passed the kid's bed time.

When the young girl proceeded to introduce herself, Painite felt her chest constrict. Too cute. Not a victim for the Spirit of Mister Saddles to meet. She chewed on her lower lip, shaking her head slowly.

"Painite," she said curtly, hoping that realizing she was talking to a Negaverse officer would make the kid panic and run. Like any intelligent senshi should do, anyway, when meeting her. "Captain Painite. Of the Negaverse. Negaverse Captain Painite."

Nice and clear, there.

She didn't summon her weapon right away, bright eyes watching Hypnos skeptically. Of course, she was greatly underestimating the kid already, having no intention of fighting her anyway. What was wrong with these senshi, forcing little kids to fight? Hell, the Negaverse didn't even do that and apparently they were the 'bad guys'. Of course, she knew it wasn't that simple. She just didn't care.

Although Sailor Chibi Hypnos had met soldiers from the Negaverse before, she did not know them properly by that name. After all, a battlefield in a dream wasn't entirely the best place to find out what's what and what's going on. She had nearly been killed by one of the Negaverse General-Queens, and she still didn't know the harm of the word 'Negaverse Soldier'. So there was no fear, no panic. No fast heartbeat and certainly no running away. Perhaps Painite would think she was very brave, or just slow in the head because instead of doing what would have been expected, the child smiled.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Captain Painite," she said, looking up to staff in the woman's hands. If the child knew any better she could have sworn she seen a horse for a moment but it was just a stick. Her eyes fell back to Painite. Pain... pain? The child seemed to look at her intently before she looked up at the woman with a concerned expression and said, "Pain? Are you in pain?"

Painite stared at her, debating her options.

What was going on? Didn't this child know to cower before villainy when it was standing before her? And as a senshi, did she not know that she was not really supposed to be fraternizing with the enemy? Who was training these kids, if they were allowed to walk around all powered up, but didn't know who or what to fight?

Painite huffed a bit at the very thought. In the Negaverse, this kid would know what to do. And who to fight.

The Negaverse Captain seemed a bit put upon. Not sure what to say or do. She could not fight a kid who had no idea who she was, though she felt slightly obligated to give her a lesson about the Negaverse that she wouldn't forget. Maybe that was the answer. Show her what she was up against, but not... actually hurt her...

She was just a kid. Painite didn't even gather energy from kids, because it felt beneath her. Cruel and unnecessary, when there were stronger, more clever targets that were a lot more fun. Taking candy from a baby, as the saying went, was certainly easy. But it wasn't something to be proud of, or let the world know it's been done.

"No, I'm not in pain," she huffed, gripping the javelin, "but you will be if you're not careful! Don't you know there are villains about?"
PostPosted: Wed Apr 27, 2011 6:27 pm

"I'm so happy you're not in pain," she said.

Sailor Chibi Hypnos' brow furrowed and her lips pursed before falling into a frown as she thought about what Captain Painite had said to her. There couldn't be. There weren't any villains here, were there? No, it was definitely like she first thought: There couldn't be any villains here! Definitely not while she was without a prince to save her! Or could there? Her clear and innocent eyes began to search around in the dark, trying to see if there was any villains out there.

All clear.

"There's no villains about here!" She paused, her lips coming to a small smile, "I just looked!"

Of course, that wasn't to say they couldn't come, right? Would a prince suddenly appear if one were to leap out of the shadows? Certainly, plus she had Captain Painite here. Not only did Captain Painite look strong but she had also just thought to warn Hypnos. She would protect her, right?

"If one comes, you won't let the villain get me, will you?"

Doe eyes, wide and innocent, she searched Painite's face for reassurance.

The Negaverse Captain opened her mouth to respond, then shut it again. She looked very thoughtful for a long moment, then opened her mouth again for a second attempt. Nothing witty, or even coherent, tried to come out of her mouth. She frowned thoughtfully, bright eyes staring at the young senshi.

"You... just looked, huh?" Painite said. Maybe the The Spirit of Mr. Saddles would do some good here. She had to make her move. The girl couldn't go around talking to every Negaverse agent she saw. She'd get herself hurt that way. Not all of them were against hurting children, as Painite was. They would take her energy and break her bones, maybe even kill her as a message to the senshi for using kids in the first place.

So, in a way, she had to be a good guy. By being a bad one.

Usually, she felt that way regardless of what she was doing. Stealing energy, for example, was her heroism for her duty, her cause. Her team. They were the good guys. Yet in simple terms, she was hurting people, on purpose, and sometimes for fun. She liked that civilians and senshi thought of her as the bad guy. Delighted in it, in fact, and made sure to play it up. But now? Now she was actually trying to help this young girl by doing the same thing. It was a very strange moment for her.

She grinned, though, eyebrows lowering to make her expression sinister. She gripped her weapon, the long javelin with a tuft of fur near its top end, though both were sharpened.

"I'm afraid, my dear sweet girl, the villain has already gotten you."
PostPosted: Sat Apr 30, 2011 9:03 pm

The child hadn't notice the woman's expression change and all she had identified were the words she had said. She called her sweet, and warned her. The villain had already got her? Automatically the child turned her back to Painite to look, worried that someone had been lingering behind her and that she hadn't noticed. Her bunny clung to her chest, the child looked right and then left and then when she seen no one she looked even more nervously to the right. Huh? There was no one there.

Confused, but happy, the child turned back around to face Painite.

"Nuh uh," she whispered.

Painite was so not sure what she was doing, but she couldn't break her character now. She had settled on her role and was going to play it out, until she was certain her point was made.

So long as that point wasn't on the end of her Javelin, things would be fine.

The first rule of improv was to not say no. Whatever the scene partner, in this case Hypnos, was throwing at her, she had to react to and flow with. Saying no, not reacting in a natural way or just trying to change the scene completely, wouldn't work. And it wouldn't be fun or effective. If she wanted Hypnos to learn anything, she couldn't jump ship now.

"Yes huh," she said again, bright sea green eyes lingering on the tiny senshi keenly. She grinned crookedly, lowering her weapon and gripping it menacingly. Now or never. Make the right move, and make the lesson as clear as day. She had to do it. She had to be the bad guy for the good of this kid who shouldn't be fighting for either side, anyway.

Goddamn senshi with their ridiculous morals no one could really decipher. If the negaverse were the 'bad' guys, then the senshi were the 'hate children'... guys.

She moved forward suddenly, bringing her javelin around and using the length of it, not the pointed ends, to smack into Hypno's legs. Hard, but maybe not as hard as the Captain was capable.
PostPosted: Mon May 02, 2011 11:04 am

Before the child could even counter with another 'Nuh uh,' there was a hard pain in one of the child's legs, which one? Oh, the pain of it she couldn't decide which one it had been. She wailed out a sob until she wobbled down onto her knees, landing swiftly on the ground. What had hit her? A bird seriously couldn't have accidentally flew into her legs, nor could it have done it quite so hard. She had obviously missed the fact that it was Painite's weapon that hit her.

Wiping the corner of her eyes before any tears could swell out, the child's bright blue eyes began to look around for what had hit her. There wasn't anything there, no one there except Painite and herself. She certainly didn't hit herself and Painite certainly didn't hit her... right? She was standing there with the pointy stick, but she always had been and nothing hit her before!

"That hurt," she mentioned as she slowly pushed herself off the ground and back onto her slipper'd feet. "It didn't get you, did it?" Her eyes looked at Painite, meeting the woman's sea green eyes. Painite was smiling, that was a good sign and pleased she said, "I'm so glad."

Painite's expression dropped immediately.

She didn't understand. She always considered herself a very happy and upbeat person. Aggressively so, sometimes, if it came to it. She liked being happy and laughing, enjoying herself and everything she did. She accepted people and tried to see the good in them, even in the Negaverse, where the word had a different meaning than the conventional one civilians tended towards.

To her, it was just the same. Treating people like they were people. Even if they drained energy and killed senshi.

But to stalwartly refuse to notice the admittedly short but certainly not impossible to see Negaverse agent with the long, sharp stick? To get hit by something and purposefully, it had to be purposefully, fail to put two and two together? Painite wasn't sure she'd ever go that far. She half wondered if the kid was messing with her, or if she was sincerely so innocent that she didn't know when she was being attacked.

"I hit you," she said, as clearly as she could, "and I'm going to do it again, so pay attention! Right. Now."

With another forced grin she moved and swung the staff again, aiming to smack Hypnos in the same spot. Maybe it would be enough to get her running. Or at the very least make her see that there was trouble in front of her! Painite felt a sting of guilt immediately, but reminded herself that it was for the young kid's own good.

There were some people who would not be so nice about it.

"I hit you..."

"I hit you..."

"I hit you..."

The words of Captain Painite echoed through the child's mind. She didn't understand and soon confused little butterflies began fluttering about inside Sailor Chibi Hypnos' chest. Pain in her leg? It was fading. Her hands raised to her chest, fists clenched. What? Why? She didn't understand why Painite, someone she'd only just met, was attacking her. What had she done wrong? She was sorry, whatever it was! She just wanted to be friends.

"Why..." she cried, falling backwards onto has a** as she went to dodge the staff. Her blue eyes looking up to meet sea green ones.

"Why are you doing this? I thought we could be friends!" she paused, most importantly. "W-what did I ever do to you?"

She thought she had been courteous, and polite. Was it still not nice enough? Not good enough for an adult? She shook her head, wiping the corner of her eyes. She couldn't cry! She had to be strong and stand tall. She tried to stand back up, get off her a** and look up at Captain Painite. "I don't understand what I did wrong... whatever it was, I'm sorry! Please, let's be friends!"

It seemed the situation was finally sinking in. Painite felt at once triumphant and oddly miserable about that realization. The poor kid was not too happy about being hit by the Negaverse Captain, but at the same time she needed to know that there was a line drawn in the sand. Senshi and Negas were enemies, and she couldn't just chat up anyone with a power signature without getting herself into trouble.

And real trouble: not just the knocks Painite was providing.

"You're a senshi," she said fiercely, her sea green eyes difficult to read, "we can't be friends. That's just how it works! And I never wanted to be your friend: you should have made sure to check that piece of information before you went about trying to make me."

She grinned.

"You can't apologize your way out of it! If you don't get out of here, I'm going to introduce you to the sharp side of this weapon. I've been nice so far, but you're testing my patience. Run away, little girl!" She was doing her very best Scary Bad Guy impersonation, hoping to send the girl off, even swinging her javelin again to emphasize her point.
