This is where all new tech is tested here, no matter what it is. Things can go wrong. People can die. Safety measures have been taken, but sometimes, they aren't enough. This testing lab is connected to the 18th Level of the East Tower of Carmina Ordo, by a flexible extending walkway. The Lab is sustained by an advance anti-gravity pod generator.

Erin was working in the lab, quietly. He had been mixing chemicals for hours. There were some people muttering about him now. He had completely cut himself off from interacting with the rest of them for now. He suddenly stopped mixing and set the chemicals down and stepped away from them. Erin looked at them curiously for a minute before turning away from them and walking away, stepping out of the room for a moment. The others that had been around started chuckling and then laughing. One even went so far as to get close to it and pick it back up. The door suddenly shut. The demons stopped laughing instantly and went to the door. They tried the door. It didn't budge. That was when they started panicking and beating on the door. The chemicals that Erin had been messing with suddenly exploded, killing those in the room. The explosion was extremely violent, overwhelming the safety measures nearly instantly and the door bent outwards, along with most of the wall as well. The other walls were thicker and just became extremely scorched. Erin came back to the door and stared at it. "Damn them. They messed with my research." He shook his head and went to a communication panel. "I need a repair team up in the testing lab. They messed with my mixtures again." He didn't wait for a reply. He instead went into another testing lab, hoping to start over again.

Erin felt himself growing bored with this lack of tasks other than the ones that he had set before him. He wanted something challenging, something that would defy the set laws of unchallenged science. It would open up the minds of every creature that there is and boggle their perceptions of acceptable facts. It would overturn the foundation upon which science was founded, allowing for all things to become possible once more. Yes! He knew what he needed to do! But first... He reached over to a desk and grabbed a few scalpels. He needed to kill something. He stood to his feet, running calculations through his head about what needed to be done for his upcoming experiment. He suppressed an evil, maniacal, menacing laugh that would make the immediate demons cringe in fear. He turned it into a cough as he walked out of the testing chambers, floating down on the grav lifts to the ground. He didn't feel like killing any of those lesser minds. He needed to kill something much bigger. Something with no mind at all to speak of. He decided that he'd kill several somethings. Something with a brain, something without a brain, and he'd also go into the cold storage facilities to get parts. He made a call to the help to have more biological and chemical agents transported to his lab. He gave a manic grin. He loved upsetting the balance of science.

The lab tech had beat him there. All the bodies were present and accounted for as well. "Damn. They sent a portal demon, didn't they?" The lab tech nodded and grinned, hoping that the mad scientist wouldn't kill him anyway. "Well the bodies are all in order, so get the hell out of my lab!" The lab tech fell through a portal in the floor, a scalpel following him out of the place. Nobody, except Ezmera, would suspect that he had killed these men, even though they had been killed with scalpels. This place was stupid with those ancient surgical tools. Anybody could have killed them. And he had the human parts from the cold storage here as well. He found himself in glee at this. He set to work immediately. He would need all the equipment available in the lab to complete his set task, as well as some things that he'd have to build in order to complete it. He grabbed a large hammer and started on one of his colleagues experiments that wouldn't work. He had been going in the wrong direction with it. Within the hour, he had the equipment that he would need, straight out of science fiction. A perpetual motion energy generator was the greatest among these new devices. He set upon the bodies now. He might take some time, but he would accomplish the task he had set before him.
Hours later, a single arm and a puddle of blood was all that remained of the body parts that had littered the floor, yet the figure under the cloth wasn't great in size, nor did it have great amounts of various body parts on it. It seemed to only have four limbs plus the head. Erin had put the body parts through a series of machines. He had removed the glands that made them unique and gave them power. He had been at it for a long time, and had destroyed most of them in the process, though he used a human body in the end. It looked rather normal. The brain in the head had been replaced. The one that had been there before was dead and had holes in it. The lungs had been replaced as well. He used the demolition's lungs. The work had taken much tedious nerve placement and he had needed to put the glands in the body as well. It was a great work of superior science. And he was now to bring the body into life. He would need that single spark of life though. He didn't know how to create that. "Send in that lab tech." The lab tech floated in through the floor. Erin instantly grabbed him and tossed him onto an operating table. "I'm going to study your spark of life. Please hold still." When the tech didn't, Erin knocked him on the head and strapped him down. The knock on the head didn't make him go unconscious though. "Hold still, or this is going to hurt a great deal more than necessary." Erin made the cuts into the demon's body.
A few more hours work revealed that the spark wasn't in the body. And the demon yet lived. "You are remarkably difficult to eradicate from the mortal coil." He noted the open heart lungs and liver that he had searched to find the spark. "Let's start on the brain." He brought out a saw with which he started cutting into the cranium. The demon tried to scream in pain, but his throat already bled from screaming in fear and agony at earlier points. Erin removed the top of the skull, viewing the brain, which he then set to dissecting with deliberate slowness. The brain has no nerve endings with which to feel anything inside of it. The demon was now merely screaming in panic. Erin cut into the mouth controls of the brain, and the demon stopped trying to scream. Now more peaceably, Erin cut to the cerebral cortex to look there. He found nothing to suggest a spark of life, even though the demon still lived. "Hmm. I guess the spark of life just enters the body when it feels like it." He left the demon on the table, the brain knife still sticking there. "You may leave." He went to his work that was on the table. The time was now. All he had to do was flip a switch and his other equipment would jolt the brain and bring it to life. So he flipped the switch with a somber face. He supposed that he should be laughing like a madman at this point, but that was far too cliche.

Erin's creation jolted on the table, it's entire figure arching in response to the shock and electricity running through its body. When the shock ceased, a finger twitched. Then slowly, the experiment's hand clenched into a fist then relaxed. The humanoid boy lying on the table slowly opened his eyes. The first thing that came into focus was Erin. The boy looked a little bewildered and out of place as he lay there, testing his various appendages. He lifted his head, looked at his newfound body, then gave the quietest little laugh.

So it lived. He wondered what he should say at this point. Maybe he should yell it out loudly to the entire world that he had successfully made a life without the use of a living female. Instead he took up a recorder and after stating the date he said, "I have successfully defied several laws of science, using science, and made life. It lives now, but it still seems a little lost. Further observation of the subject will determine if it is stable. I look forward to further results." He set the recorder down and went to the table and removed the clamps. The creature still hadn't gotten any clothes on it, but then, he hadn't expected to succeed on the very first try. He hadn't gotten any clothes yet. He looked over at the still living, but horribly mutated lab tech. It's clothes were about the right size. "Hmm." He removed the lab techs pants, which had a little bit of blood on them, but were still usable. "I'm wondering why you're still here. Leave." He motioned for the creature that was still strapped down to make his presence scarce. He walked back over to the operating table that his new construct lay upon. "Yes. Do you have a name, creation? Can you speak? Stand and walk for me." He laid the pants neatly on a bar across the room. The construct would have to cross the room to get the pants to put them on. And it would probably want them very soon. It was cold in the room.

A name? The boys voice was smooth and easy to listen to, considering he would have different sections of throat from different subjects. He sat up, noted the pants across the room and then noticed his nakedness, trying to shrug off his slight embarrassment, he put his bare feet on the floor, flinching ever so slightly at the cold, and then stood. Erin's creation was certainly no dancer, as his first step was more of a first fall. But he soon found his legs and gingerly walked to the pants, only holding onto some equipment when he began to sway. I s'ppose I don't have one. Or if I do, I dont remember it. The boy fell as he tried to put the pants on while standing, his balance would come with practice, so he just sat and pulled the pants over his legs...backwards. Say mister, who am I?...Did you make me? I'm kinda confused. The boy stood again then smiled at Erin, holding onto a bit of equipment.

Erin went back to his recorder. "Construct seems to no longer hold the memories of the mind that it holds. The construct also seems to have trouble accessing its higher brain functions," he noted as the new construct put his pants on backwards. "He also shows a curiosity for his origins. Balance seems negligent. I propose further studies before any definite prospects are made on him." He replaced the recorder and walked up to the construct. "I created you. I wanted to defy science's laws. With your help, I have. Until a more suitable designation is designed for you, you shall be called Construct 01. I will call you 01. I imagine as you go along, you will gain better function of your body. Be careful with it until then. The stitches might not hold too well. I didn't actually believe that you would be able to stand yet. Your limbs are still not properly defrosted. You are also running on minimum blood currently. I need to get you some transfusions." He looked at the lab tech that was still there. The blood type probably wouldn't match. But then, the boy could probably take any blood. But the demon had demon blood. It wouldn't be the same as the biology of the boy would require. He still wondered why the lab tech, who was still living, was still there. He waved it off and went to his communicator. "I need a blood mixture here. 20::1 human/demon ratio. give me about," he looked over the boy, "4 pints. Still living blood is preferable. I expect the blood here now." He hung up and turned back to the boy. "Come, let's get you into the transfusion machine." He didn't bother with the backwards pants yet.

Alright then, Ill be careful. So what am I? I cant be human, well. I mean, I can be, but I don't feel exactly human. He didn't wonder about the man's routine recorder check in, he was a science experiment, it was expected to record the results. He only hoped he was getting good ones. His walking was getting better as he was slowly getting used to his limbs, though he was still quite stiff. The boy seemed happy enough though, wearing a cheery little smile as he prepared to follow Erin to the machine. I guess I owe you my life then, huh? Literally, I mean. The boy laughed, it was a pleasant sound in comparison to his gory and questionable surroundings. He liked talking, he liked being able to use his voice, and he was more than happy to be alive. He noticed the demon still lying on the table, mangled and dissected. He cocked his head, but his face showed no sign of the normal shock, horror, or distress upon seeing such a thing. In fact, he looked amused. His big brown eyes turned back to Erin and gently scratched the stitching on his shoulder. So, I am Construct 01, otherwise known as 01. He nodded, accepting his new title. So..what do I call you, Mister? The boys arms and legs tingled as if they had all been asleep, probably still defrosting. It was an annoying feeling and he tried to shake his arms free of it.

Erin's recorder once again found its way into his hand. "Curiosity still maintained in the subject. Walking and balance, as predicted, have improved with time. I suspect more improvements along the way." He returned the recorder. A curious thing about the recorder, though, was that it just seemed to appear and vanish from his hand whenever he wanted. "01, you are a construct built from the various parts of humans for an external appearance, and demons, for a superiority to both species." He opened up the machine as the new lab tech came in with the blood. Luckily enough for him, he didn't notice the prior lab tech, who seemingly refused to die. At least not immediately. The new tech placed the blood into the machine as Erin brought Construct 01 to it to strap him in. "I designed, built, and gave you life. So yes, you do owe me your life, I guess." He was rarely spoken to in this manner. Most often, people accused him of ruining their lives. Or never talking to him at all, as the life faded from their bodies. He never let it bother him. But now, his creation talking to him in such a way, he suddenly felt... strange. He shook off the feeling as he turned the machine on. "I am can be known as Master Erin, or Creator Erin, or, just for pity's sake, you can call me Erin." He glared at the lab tech. "You may not though. I am still your superior, and you will address me with respect or I will address you on my operating table. I could always try to make another construct." He gave a manic grin. "It can be a group study."
The lab tech gulped and said, "Yes, Superior Erin." He didn't even know why the crazy human addressed him. He hadn't even thought of addressing the scientist. It wasn't his place. He looked away from the mad eyes and that's when he noticed the horribly mutilated lab tech that he had replaced. He shivered with fear and tried backing out.
"Wait. Take your friend with you please. He refuses to leave my lab, no matter how many times I ask." He gestured to the strapped in lab tech. As the techs sorted their problems out, Erin turned back to 01 as he received blood. It wasn't a very long process. "This should help your movements along," he said as the blood vial drained.

01 seemed to have a happy little smile plastered onto his face, though his excitement for living gave him far more joy then he allowed to be shown. I really should thank you Mast-..I mean, Erin. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for you. The boy certainly was a talker. But he was grateful, and he decided that he would try to provide the scientist with anything he needed, in gratitude to him. As the new blood occupied his body, he felt himself warm up, and a few beads of sweat popped onto his forehead as his body adjusted its temperature. Erin? what am I here for? Am I to serve you for some purpose? I mean, I dont mind at all. Still curious. He gave a helpless grin and a shrug, hoping he wasn't talking the scientist to death.

"Subject seems to like talking. I don't blame it. It is just getting used to its motor functions. This desire to talk might burn off eventually, though that remains to be seen. Brain functions seem to be arising with progression. Glands are in working order. The blood transfusion seems to be in good order. Observation continues." The recorder appeared and disappeared for its recording session. He turned to address the question put towards him. "I created you to prove that I could. As for serving some purpose... I suppose that I could use a new servant. My old one went missing years ago." He had turned around during his monologue to a small table. He had picked up a syringe and filled it with a fluid that looked like water. When he turned around, he released the air in the needle and tube. "This should help you acclimate to the new blood. Should also release the suppressions I have put on your demon glands. Not particularly sure about that last one. Worth a shot though." He jabbed the needle into the soft tissue at the base of the neck below the Adam's Apple at an angle so that it wouldn't protrude all the way through into the throat, but would find its way into the jugular artery. "It might burn a little at first."

You know how doctors say, "This isn't going to hurt?" That's this. They mean it isn't going to hurt them.

01 hissed as it did indeed burn, stinging the corners of his eyes with tears reacting to the pain. Though moments after the substance entered his body he felt different. Was this what Erin was talking about? He didnt know much about the human body, much less a demon one. So he had no idea what was going on, though his body did cool off. The boy's fever subsided and the burning in his neck had ebbed away to a dull, but uncomfortable throb. I wouldnt mind being your servant, I do owe you everything I am and could be, right? I think its a great idea. Say? Will I ever be able to see what is outside this place? Everything looks so...so...uniform. 01 gave another lighthearted laugh, cut off by a cough and a rub to his neck.
PostPosted: Sat May 21, 2011 2:16 pm

Erin's recorder remained where it was this time. "Very well. You seem to be very subservient." He stated that last part almost to himself. He didn't expect an answer to it, in all honesty. "We shall leave soon. I don't particularly enjoy being here for long periods of time. The only reason I put up with them is for the simple fact that I can get everything I need with no hassle to make things. Like you for instance." He drew the needle out of 01's skin, tossing it in the disposal chute where it was incinerated nearly instantly. He pressed a button, allowing the straps to pop free, releasing Construct 01. "Now let's proceed to see how well you are working now, and then we can leave and see new places." He gestured for the construct to move.
