Brielle was happily examining the tiny skittering residents of small tidal pool. Her ears were perked forward in excitement as she watched the small brightly coloured creatures timidly swim towards her dangling tail in curiosity and then dart away when she twitched it. She was most interested in the red orange armored water bug the skittered under the rocks every time she swished her tail. She had never seen a crab before. To her it vaguely looked like the crayfish that she had tormented as a pup. Her lips pulled back in a grin at the memory of splashing in the shallows of the small rapids. She had chased them under rocks and then flipped whatever rocks she could over so that they would scamper to another. The young Brielle would then start all over again. It had taken a few tries but Brielle finally managed to pin one of the crustaceans under a blue paws. Her father had laughed at her when the offending little beast had pinched her sharply between the toes. With the happy memory in mind she only teased the crab, figuring that these pincers would likely hurt more than the crayfish's tiny ones. Brielle's blue tail was only close enough to the crab for it to clamp at the fur. A dart of silver flashed on the other side of her tail and Brielle was momentarily distracted by the fish. Only a second after she looked away from the crab it lunged out towards her tail. She let out a small yip in surprise. It hadn't pinched any of her fur but she wrenched her tail out of the pool with the crab still attached to her fur. She pranced on the spot until the crab let go and landed a little away from the pool. Brielle let out a small playful growl at it. This was exciting.

The beach. Something Jayel wasn't used too. Shifting from paw to paw, the female tested the sand as if she couldn't believe it would hold her weight. It wasn't that she was fat, it was just that she'd never seen such loose sand before. Flicking her tail to and fro, the duel colored wolf bit on her lip and furrowed her brows.
It wasn't until she heard the sounds of a wolf out there on the beach that she actually took a step. Jayel moved slowly, hesitantly, as if any minute the sand would give way and she would have to jump to save her life. She was crouched low to the ground, ears pinned to her head. Licking her muzzle, her green eyes darted around, looking for the wolf she'd heard. There! Just beyond some rock, was movement of a blue kind of wolf. The wolf stood out, really, amongst the sand and water.
"Hello?" She hollered out, wanting to be heard over the roar of the ocean. That was something else that scared the hell out of her. A HUGE body of water right there? Who knew how deep it was, and what dwell in it. Shuddering as she suppressed horrible thoughts, she focused on the other wolf.
It looked like it was a girl wolf, but she couldn't be too sure from this distance. So, slowly she crept closer.

Even though she heard the shout Brielle didn't fully register it. Her ears had perked up at the noise but it took a few seconds for her to sway her attention from the violent little crab to the source of the noise. Squinting slightly she made out the shape of another near the edge of the beach. Brielle wasn't able to stop her tail from wagging eagerly. She hadn't had much contact with other wolves in the Hinterlands. She had skirted the marked boundaries of packs, not wanting to seem invasive, and had been starting to feel slight pangs of loneliness. So it was with this in mind that she trotted closer to the brown and tan wolf. She eyed the the female's, as she could now tell, markings curiously. "Hi!" she said with enthusiasm. Brielle's tail was still swaying behind her and her mouth pulled back in a smile.

Jayel only acted like the biggest puppy in the world whenever someone showed equal amounts of enthusiasm as she did. Laughing again, her sea green eyes lit up brightly and she pranced a few times. She didn't however, get very far in the sand and then remembered the earth was loose, so she got still all over again. "How hasn't the earth eaten you? It's not hard like normal!"
Truly, Jayel was a bit on the stupid side when it came to anything but stories. She'd heard of beaches, but that was as far as the description ever went. A beach! She didn't know exactly what was in store for when she got here. She backed up and motioned the other to come with her and went back to the normal ground. "Quick, quick! Something might pull you under!"

Brielle tilted her head to the side at the new wolf. "Eat me...?" She puzzled, "what the ground?" She shifted her weight testing the sand beneath her feet. She had never thought of sand as dangerous or even as a nuisance as the wolves of her old pack had. She had taken advantage of it being there. Brielle had never thought of it as being less solid ground or anything. In truth she had never even given it a second thought. The sand had always seemed to be near the water and after all it was the water she actually enjoyed. "Maybe it could swallow me whole," she thought as sand got in between her toes.
Curiously she trotted over to the other she-wolf stopping just a little way from the new face, standing in the sand almost stubbornly. "Sand isn't going to eat you," she said confidently. "At least it's never tried to pull me under or anything... though I hear that there are pits like that," her voice tapered a little as she thought about it. "I guess it could be dangerous." She stepped in place on the sand, mostly to show that it was sturdy but partly to make sure she wouldn't fall through.
"Look," she smiled brightly when her paws didn't sink in any further than normal, "there's nothing to worry about."

The other wolf was being stubborn! Standing there on the ground that threatened to eat her up. Jayel was so confused on everything about this sandy ground. It didn't look right, it didn't smell right. It didn't smell bad, mind you, just not right. It certainly didn't look like it'd support the other's weight, but... there she was, standing on the sand.
Blinking her eyes in confusion, Jayel tilted her head to the side and frowned. "Well... ....Eheh..." she felt stupid now. If she was human, her face would be completely red. Instead, her ears lowered and her tail slipped between her back legs a bit. "Well.. It looks like it'll eat you up. It doesn't... really look safe at all!"

Brielle was taken aback by the other wolf's reaction. She shifted a bit uncomfortably from paw to paw unsure of how best to continue. She cleared her throat a little, but wasn't able to push any words out. Why is this so awkward!? She thought with an internal groan. She stood in the little awkward silence for a moment before she managed to push some enthusiasm into her voice.
"You could take a step out here and see for yourself," she took a few steps back to allow the other wolf to move forward if she chose to. "Besides once you cross the beach you can get to the water which is where the real fun is. There are all sorts of interesting creatures in the water." Her face lit up a bit as she thought back to the indignant little crab.

Take a step on to the sand? That was the thing that scared her the most. Instead, Jayel shook her head and frowned. "No, it'll eat me alive! It's just waiting for me. I can tell!" Huffing, Jayel sat down on her haunches on solid ground as she watched the other practically prance on it. ".... Though I did want to go to the water. Are there some rocks or something? ... Or like... ...You're absolutely sure that.... it won't try to swallow me up? I've got other places to explore, stories to collect! I'm a very busy wolf."
Not really, but Jayel liked to pretend she was important.
