Here's our OOC thread! OOCLong ago, demons rose from the Underworld and and attacked mankind. Two individual factions, the Mages and Shifters, worked together to defeat them. Eventually, the demons were defeated and the few that were still alive crawled back to the Underworld.
That was a thousand years ago. Today, the notion of peace between the Mages and Shifters is but a story told to young children. Their two schools have been at war for almost as long as the demons have been gone.
But they can't stay that way. Rumors of the demons rising again are surfacing. The two schools aren't strong enough on their own. Will they be able to put aside centuries of mistrust and battling to save the world? Okay, now's all the information bit. MagesThe Mages are an elite group of men and women(and children, but they're trainees) who have the power to control the elements. I guess they're Benders. However, their powers include not only the basic Water, Earth, Fire, and Air, but also Lightning, Ice, Growth and any other elemental thing that I missed. Each Mage gets ONE power. Obviously, there are no Avatars who control all. When the Council of Mages find someone that they suspect is a Mage, they abduct them from their homes and begin training them in the Mage Tower. After a whole lot of training, the Mage is either sent out to battle Shifters, stays in the tower to train others, or they join the Council of Mages and sit around and decide important things. The Mages also have one High Priestess whose job it is to give a lot of prophecies and heal the wounded with holy powers or something. [b]Mage Profile[/b]

[b]Picture of some sort[/b]optional Now, the Shifters. The Shifters have the ability to transform into animals. They can shift fully(as in, turn into a cat) or halfway(just grow claws). Obviously, each Shifter can only transform into one animal. They are less strict than the Mages and allow anyone to join them. All one has to do is ask. However, when there numbers grow low, they kidnap new members, just like the Mages. Their training methods are much harsher than the Mages. Trainees frequently die while dueling their teachers. If they survive, then they either go out and fight Mages, train new Shifters, or join the Council of Shifters. When Shifters are in human form, they look completely human. For example, a parrot Shifter would not have rainbow colored hair when in human form.The Shifters also have their High Priestess, same as Mages. [b]Shifter Profile[/b]

If two Mages have a child, the child will most probably be a Mage, but his element can be anything. The same goes for Shifters and their animal forms.
You can be a wandering Mage/Shifter. However, there are no communities of Mages or Shifters other than the Mage and Shifter towers. That's it, so... Um, PM with the profile if you're interested, okay?

Rules
1. Use your common sense. Obviously no breaking site rules or guild rules.
2. Censor all curses. Sorry, I'm very annoying about that.
3. Keep the romance PG-13. And try not to have two characters infatuated with each other so they do nothing but kiss the entire roleplay.
4. I'm expecting violence, but keep the descriptions of it normal. Yes blood, no livers and kidneys if you know what I mean.
5. You can have one or two characters. If two, I'd prefer you have one Mage and one Shifter. It's going to be pretty stupid if they're not balanced.
6. If you feel the need to kill someone, tell me and make sure the person lets.
7. Now, plot twists. I get really annoyed when people PM me for little ones. If you want a demon to attack you while you're camping in the forest, so be it. If you want seventy demons to attack all of us and kidnap us, then PM me.
8. I'm expecting 1-3 paragraphs, okay? This means at least four sentences a post. Obviously, once in a while you'll do less, but try not to. Also, no one is reading your ten paragraph post.

MAGE PROFILESMage Profile amateurauthor Name Elaine Smith Age 17 Gender Female Appearance She has long straight brown (but it looks black) hair that is always worn completely naturally. She has green eyes that are brighter than normal and very pale skin. She is pretty tall and about medium weight. She is usually wearing a black Mage's robe. She is also kind of pretty. Personality She's very cynical and sarcastic, but with important people like the Council of Mages she's very sweet and angelic. She has a massive temper that can be aroused by practically anything. Inside, she really does care about her friends though, but she would never admit it. Element Lightning History She was born in the small village of Shlomptakindaville(as you can probably tell, I made that name up on the spot). She was kidnapped at nine years old and was trained by the Mages. She initially resented them, but as she grew older she accepted them and enjoyed her life in the Mage Tower. She is currently about to graduate and will be sent out to battle against the hated Shifters. Personality Most say this mage is introverted because most are afraid to touch him. This mage is always immersed in controlling his power or inventing something new, so he isn’t often seen outside of class. Sid has a good memory and likes people who have a lot of things in common with him. He is very laid back, cheerful, smart and straight forward. Element Lightning History People got suspicious of being a mage because when people touched his skin they would get a little bit of visible static connecting them. He lived his life around his small inventions, and most played it off as him being too exposed to such things. The glow of his skin was faint, but apparent to those that knew of the signs of a mage. He usually wears a mage scholar attire. He can be seen holding a staff, he also wears many pocket watches on his belt. PersonalityEden is a very proud, cold, and egotistical individual. He is proud of himself and of his fellow mages. He believes that mages are far more superior to shifters and finds that shifters are filthy low class citizens. Eden is a serious person, he's not very inviting nor is he looking to be anybodies friend. He's especially serious when it comes to his studies and training. He is not afraid to tell someone of their shirt comings, he expects high standards and if he cannot get that from an individual, he does not want to work with them. History Fai's biological mother died at childbirth. His father blamed his because of his blue eye's and hated him. One day, his father tried to kill him. To escape death, Fai ran away into the woods. As he ventured deeper into the forest, he heard a painful scream. When he got to the place where he thought the scream came from, he saw a pointy eared woman with three arrows that had punctured her chest lying beside a tree. He quickly ran beside her, panicking at what he should do. Suddenly, his hands shown brightly. The light from his hands extended, reaching out and healing the woman. She woke gently and asked what was his name. She introduced herself as Aki Feldato, one of the many instructors at the mage tower. Seeing great potential, she took him under her wing and trained him to be the mage he is today.

But one day while fighting with another kid in his town, wings suddenly grew out of his back, scaring them all away. The village council decided that he was a bad omen and cast him away for life. Upon her arms are dark light weight gauntlets, and on her feet are comfortable brown boots that go up to her calves. Personality Artemis is a very straight forward and dedicated soul. She is a born leader and almost assertive... but without being aggressive. She is a fun soul, and caring deep down. Once she can truly trust someone, she is loyal to them. Artemis is good at seeing who people really are. Even though she is talkative and fun and such, she is very secretive about herself. She does not let other people know about herself. But she has left since and became a huntress of the woods- she became a shadow to all that knew her and refused to be found by others. She remained in the woods, protecting, watching. Valhalla Elkwood Valhalla walked through the forest, watching the animals roam by. "Sigh... Its a shame I forgot my painting gear... This would be a great scene..." He sighed as he looked at the lakefront. He walked down beside the river and sat in front of a tree. He slowly unfolded his wings and let them soak up the sun. He in joyed day's like today. The warmth on his wings felt good, causing him to relax. He pulled out his book and started to read.

Cat Snake Alexander stomped off to the quiet spot by the lake where he usually sat. When he saw that stupid hawk boy reading there, his face didn't exactly brighten. This was his spot. There was a reason it was his spot. Because no one else went there. When someone did go there, it wasn't exactly a pleasant surprise to him. He quietly Shifted and slithered into a corner in the sun. He hoped that he wouldn't be noticed. Then again, most Shifters were able to recognize the difference between animals and Shifters, so he didn't have much hope of being unnoticed. He hissed to himself, annoyed that he wasn't alone. Now he would have to find a new spot. It was a pity. He had liked this one. It was nice. Now, it was stolen.

 Artemis Aelous The White Wolf It had been only a few days since Artemis had left her forest and began her travels. She had felt a disturbance.... something was not right with the world. She sensed this through her meditation. She had to find out what was wrong, what was coming. That was the promise she made, to protect this world- just as other Shifters and Mages have made the same promise. She more a wooden mask to hide her face, and she kept her bow in her other hand. She walking through the forest, not her own though, just another one that was connected to hers. She stayed alert, listening to everything around her. Artemis had not encountered another human being in years, that including her recent travels. When she thought she heard something she ran for cover and peered around her. The noise was low.... almost sounded like a hiss at first. She waited in her hiding spot, staying vigilant of her surroundings, waiting to see what she had heard. What she didn't know was that she heard Alexander in his cat snake form. She also did not see Valhalla, yet.

Lightning Mage Elaine was in the dungeons of the Mage Tower with the rest of the soon-to-be graduating class. Their teacher was leading them. Elaine walked silently, her eyes darting around. This place is filthy, she thought. Well, since it was mostly Shifters here, she doubted that the prisoners minded. They were practically animals anyway. The teacher stopped in front of a large cell. A cell filled with children. Shifters who couldn't have been more than ten years old. "This is your final test before you are ready to fight those hated Shifters," he said. "We have to say if you are strong enough. Not just in body, but in spirit too. We need to know if you will be able to deal the final blow. For those of you opposed to violence, remember this. The Shifters are more animal than human. It is not cruel to kill them, just as it is not cruel to kill the cow you would eat. Now, who wants to go first?"Elaine was a little uneasy. She was supposed to kill a child? Even if it was an animal, would you kill a baby animal?

 Eden Barnabus Ice Mage Eden walked with the other mage students, soon to be graduates. " Filthy beings...." he snared silently to himself. He hated shifters, he couldn't wait to exterminate them all and cleanse this world. Eden brought out one of his pocket watches and looked at it, he then quickly put it away and listened to the teacher. He stood there properly waiting. When the teacher asked who would like to go first he stepped forward and announced, " I wish to to go first." He should no fear nor remorse for what he had to do. As the teacher said, it is not cruel to kill them. Child or not, they had to die. Eden pointed his staff at one of the shifter children. " That one, I want to eliminate that one." The child he pointed to shuddered in fear.

Lightning Mage Elaine heard Eden volunteer and nodded to herself. He was a hero. He was strong enough to put his personal feelings aside to rid the world of filth like Shifters. Well, if he had any feelings anyway. She would be like him. These children were animals anyway, right? It wasn't like they had feelings. "Alright," the teacher told Eden. "You will kill that one. Quickly. We have a full class here, you know."The teacher unlocked the cell door. Most of the children huddled in the corners together, holding hands and crying. The teacher dragged one child out, a little boy, wide eyed and terrified. No feelings? Elaine thought. This one definitely did. He was scared out of his wits. But, animals could be scared too, and she would kill them without a second thought. "We're ready when you are," the teacher said.

Eden Barnabus Ice Mage Eden looked at another pocket watch and waited for the second hand to reach twelve. He closed it and said, " Ready." With that the teacher let go of the shifter. The little shifter boy stood there, sniffling, shaking, terrified of what was going to happen. Eden did not respond to this, but he did say, " Beast, transform into your ungodly form. If I am to kill you I want to fight you at your peek." The little shifter put his hands over his eyes and wept uncontrollably. He managed to mumble through tears, " I..... I don't want..... to die!"Eden swung his staff and cast an ice spell towards the shifter. The shifter was in cased in ice all the way up to it's shoulders. The other shifter children screamed and cried out for their fellow friend. " Pathetic being. If you don't want to die then I suggest you do something about it," he tried to antagonize the beast. How boring, in choosing the biggest shifter he thought he would have a good fight on his hands. Seems he choose the biggest baby instead. What a disappointment.

Lightning Mage Elaine watched Eden freeze the Shifter as if he had all the time in the world. Didn't he realize that he wasn't the only one in the class? "Mr. Barnabus," the teacher said crossly. "Would you kindly hurry up? There are other graduates waiting? Meanwhile, do we have a second volunteer?Elaine barely hesitated. Might as well get this over with, she thought. She'd have to do it at some point. "I'll go," she said, pointing to the Shifter she wanted. "Come out, you little she-demon."The teacher dragged out a little girl of five and threw her in front of Elaine. Elaine rolled her eyes as the girl sniffled a little. "You're a nice lady. You won't hurt me, right?" the girl asked, looking up, an adorable little smile on her face. Elaine looked the little girl in the eyes. Banishing her pity, she twirled a small lancet of lightning on her fingers and shot it into the girl's heart. Nice, quick, and clean. The girl was dead in seconds. Elaine looked over at Eden and tapped her wrist impatiently. "If you've got such a fascination with time," she drawled. "Why don't you stop wasting it?"

Valhalla Elkwood Valhalla simply remained at the tree. "Is the world really that small to you? Or do you simply despise me?" He asked the other shifter that he had sensed approaching. "I can leave if you would like. I was merely resting." He said as he got up. He started to run towards the lake. At the last second, he jumped up and started to fly around, taunting the other shifter in a pleasant way.

Eden Barnabus Ice Mage Another student from his class spoke impatiently. He rolled his eyes and summoned another spell. From the ice block that encased the shifter child, ice blades formed, then swiftly circulated- completely decapitating the shifter. He then dispelled the ice and walked away from the battle, victor. Of course he showed off, this was the final was it not? He wasn't going to use a simple spell and slide by. He did not look at Elaine, but stood next to her. He said in a low voice to her, " Such a simple attack. Hardly a passing grade."
