Raide made her way out onto Route 10, dragging her feet slightly to get used to the soft dirt underneath her feet. As she trudged along, she also debated releasing her Pokemon. On one hand, they’d never get any stronger if they were stuck inside their Pokeballs like couch potatoes all day, but on the other, she wasn’t sure if they would react kindly to the walking, and walking, and walking. She frowned and tapped her fingers on the side of her leg. After a moment of deliberation, a conclusion was reached. This little detour was to work on teamwork and strength before a gym battle, but if they went on ignoring each other the entire time, the extra miles would be for naught.

Her two companions (who were both currently unwilling) appeared in a flash of red in front of her. Immediately, Cyndaquil set about to ignoring her existence and Scyther wore a look that clearly asked ‘Why do I have to be here, again?’ The air was slightly cool and damp, and Raide took a deep breath. She predicted that it might be a tense trip, but when faced with both of her Pokemon’s personalities, she figured that her difficulty estimate was low. On the bright side, Raide hadn’t said anything worth making fun of yet, and Cyndaquil hadn’t set anything on fire. She wasn’t sure how long it would last, but she was going to try to keep the peace for a while.

Raide was rather distracted as she and Ichigo walked along the route. At least, that’s what she would claim if ever asked why she didn’t notice her companion moving towards her, or why she didn’t really have any reaction when she was grabbed and slung into the high grass by the side of the road. All she could say think was ‘huh?’ before she stumbled into the grass, tripped, and landed nearly flat on her face into the area known for wild Pokemon encounters.

Grumbling in annoyance at her now skinned knees and mumbling various rhetorical questions such as, “What was that for?” and “Did I land in the most uncomfortable spot in the entire route?", she shook the un-singed side of her hair free of dirt and lifted herself up onto her elbows. She stopped there, but only because of the creature she saw a small distance in front of her. “Scyther!” She whispered rather loudly to make sure he could hear her, and waved above the tall grass to get his attention. Apparently, he wasn’t in any particular hurry to answer her, as he merely hovered slowly towards her, stopping and looking down at her when he got there.

“Could you use a wing attack for me, please?” She wasn’t quite sure how to go about getting him to do anything, as she hadn’t known Scyther for very long, but saying ‘please’ couldn’t hurt. Raide pointed at the Pokemon she was so excited about. Scyther followed her gaze more than her finger, and spotted a Ninjask. He mentally shrugged and rolled his eyes. A wing attack would only give the Ninjask a better chance to get away in the wild. He had met a few, and they weren’t afraid to run if it meant avoiding a Pokeball. Unleashing the wing attack, just as his trainer had asked, he simply watched as the Ninjask was alerted to their presence. It let out a long cry, and as the wings hit it, allowed itself to be knocked back. Then it simply flew away. Scyther didn’t quite feel like doing anything to stop it.

Raide watched in slight disappointment as the bug-type escaped so easily. She sighed quietly, then gladly hopped up off of the ground and thanked Scyther quietly. If she wasn’t imagining things, which she probably was, she might have thought he looked a little taken aback. At the same time, she turned around to face Ichigo, who was still on the road, and noticed the absence of a certain hyperactive Pokemon. “What are we playing, hide and seek?” Raide asked, indirectly inquiring about the strange action, and smiled weakly. She didn’t think Ichigo was a malicious person, but it looked suspiciously like she had just attacked her and had thrown her into the wild to be eaten, so she could pull a Team Rocket.

Raide might have been more hurt by the laughter if she hadn’t seen how upbeat Ichigo acted most of the time. As it was, she wore a bit of a frown, despite the apology as she tried to figure out why exactly her companion was laughing at her. Pokemon escaped all the time, so that would have been something strange to laugh at. Raide had tripped, but that was Ichigo’s fault anyway. Crossing her arms uncomfortably, she puzzled over the issue, but thought it was pointless. Was it possible to understand Ichigo’s humor? She decided just to ignore the laughter if that was possible, “No, no, it’s fine.” Raide said in reply to the apology.
When the Sentret appeared wearing feathers and trying to choke the bug Pokemon (“But wait,” her common sense asked, “Do bug types even have lungs?”), she debated whether or not to say anything. On one hand, the Sentret had attacked without command or provocation, it appeared... But then again, it was up to the trainer to discipline their Pokemon if it was needed.She didn't even have any claim to the Ninjask. Eventually, she decided to remain quiet. If someone chided Scyther or Cyndaquil, she’d be embarrassed, not that she was in the habit of scolding them at all. Momentarily, she wondered if the flying types that the feathers came from would ever follow them, and thought she might have spotted some angry forms in the sky. They were too far away, so she couldn’t tell. By her side, Scyther turned around and walked away to try and urge the group on, so Raide decided that he had the right idea and followed along. She paused, feeling badly about not telling anyone about her suspicions. “Sentret, did you possibly make anyone angry when you got those feathers?”

Raide sighed, somewhat disappointed that she was right for the first time in a while. She sighed one more time for good measure, not comprehending how the Sentret was unable to predict that getting such nice feathers would ruffle some as well. He sort of has it coming, Raide thought. It'd be better to get out of the way now. Tilting her head to one side, then the other as if weighing her options, she nodded to herself. Fighting here would only tire her Pokemon and companions, and there was a long way until the next city.
Oh well, Raide decided. I'll meet them at the cave. She looked over to Ichigo, simply waving to tell her to hurry up and follow her. The trainer figured that anything with a wingspan that large would think twice before following them into the cave. Besides, she wasn't sure that any of the present Pokemon would fare well against the large bird. Normals, a bug and a diminutive fire-type might have difficulty reaching the flier. Raide went ahead and jogged off, hoping that Ichigo would either defeat the Pokemon somehow or follow her to shelter.
On the way, she noted Scyther heading in the same direction. He had probably decided the same thing as Raide. That the Unfezant had a right to be angry, and that he wasn't going to get in the way of the flying type and the source of its anger. Scyther actually thought that it'd be a good way to shut the crazy Pokemon up, but Raide's idea was close enough. Once she reached the entrance to the cave, she noticed that Cyndaquil was already there. He was curled up in a ball and napping out of boredom. Everyone else is too slow, Cyndaquil thought.
