Violet walked into route 8 fairly happy with her decision. Route 8 was a short and easy route, perfect for her new pokemon. Even Blaze could use some training. Wisp floated around her head fairly excited about the change of scenery. Violet had to admit she was happy about the change too. As much as she loved Lavender town, it could really wear on a person sometimes. The weather was usually pretty cloudy for whatever reason, so the sunny route 8 was nice. It even had a white picket fence, that had to be a good omen or something. Violet walked into the tall grass inside the fence to search for a few wild pokemon to train her own pokemon. It wasn't long until she found an Ekans. Violet decided to train wisp up on ekans, she didn't want Blaze to get poisoned. Using lick to knock out the ekans was a long process, but it worked, and wisp didn't take too much damage from the poison stings. Violet was only concerned that she might have a run in with a stronger ekans that knew bite. That wouldn't sit well with Wisp. After a few battles, Violet was a little upset that she only seemed to be finding ekans. They were great training for Wisp, but Blaze was missing out on the action. So Violet left the grassy area to take a break. Wisp was getting pretty tired from training and deserved a break. Violet searched her bag for something to eat. There was a little bit of pokemon food, but mostly berries. Violet smiled, berries were better than regular pokemon food any day. So Violet distributed the berries with a little bit of pokemon food for both her pokemon. Violet didn't have much food in the pack, only enough for two or three meals, but she was confident that she could earn enough money to buy more food by the time she ran out. Blaze was much calmer then Violet would have expected him to be. It was a weird change, but not totally bad. After the break Violet was about to go back into the grassy area when she noticed another trainer. She jumped when the trainer noticed her. 'Oh boy, here we go' she thought bracing herself. The trainer's eyes widened as a smile came to his face. He ran over to her as she waited. "Hey, I challenge you to battle!" He shouted when he got near enough. Violet sighed, he was a bug catcher, apperently they didn't change even in Kanto. Young, excitable, and eager to challenge
anyone. Not to mention a full team of bug pokemon, this could be good training. "Yeah, yeah. choose your pokemon" she responded as
Blaze trotted up front. The bug catcher chose a caterpie. "Use an ember" Violet commanded, not taking the battle too seriously.
The caterpie went down in one hit. For whatever reason the bug catcher seemed surprised by this and two caterpie and a metapod later
he was out of usable pokemon. Violet had to bite her tongue when the bug catcher said "I don't know how I could have lost." quite sincerley.
Violet just flashed him a fake smile and went on her way. After a few more battles with wild pokemon Violet noticed it was getting quite late.
So she returned wisp to her ball before walking the path towards Saffron She only had to battle a few biker's to get there, but she was still worried that Wisp would give out on her soon. 'Darn biker's with their poison types' Violet thought to herself bitterly. She was relying on Wisp too much on this route. Blaze really had only gotten into a few battles. Wisp and Blaze
were pretty even with each other now. Still Violet knew it would be a bad idea to pit Blaze against a poison type. Getting him poisoned while he was still fairly weak wouldn't help Violet train him. So Violet made her way to saffron, and about sprained her ankle from jumping down the hill to get to the pokemon center more quickly.
