Mezame slumped forward on her desk, burying her face in her hands and sighing loudly. She held her next breath and strained to hear the argument going on downstairs. "It's ignorant to believe that the symptoms are not related!""Don't be ridiculous. You can't pretend this is anything less than a serious illness..." Mezame groaned, they would be at it for hours and she could never concentrate with the noise. "Forget it." She said to herself pushing her chair away from the desk and getting up. "I'm not in the mood for this today!" She grabbed her jacket and pulled it on as she stomped down the stairs. "Where are you going young lady?" She heard her mother call to her as she headed for the door. Usually Mezame would stop and go back upstairs but today was not one of those days. "I've run out of ... paper clips." Mezame didn't see the confused look on her mothers face, nor did she hear her calling her to come back. Mezame was tired of same old thing day in and day out. Study, study, listen to her parents argue, never really being allowed out on her own. Today she'd decided to take her life into her own hands. She was eighteen after all. Walking through the streets of Saffron Mezame couldn't shake the nervous feeling of how much trouble she'd be in when she got home."Paper clips? Honestly, what was I thinking?!" She slapped herself in the face shaking her head. "Sorry" she said automatically as she bumped into someone. She took her hands away from her face. It was a lamp post. She groaned with embarrassment and looked around to make sure no one had seen her, she got lucky that time and continued on her way. Mezame had no idea where she was headed but a shop with an assortment of sweets in the window caught her attention. Inside Mezame browsed the shelves practically squealing in delight. Everything looked so good. She picked up a packet of boiled pokéball shaped sweets. It read; "Assorted berry flavour pokéball candies! Lucky packets contain a prize!" "Awesome." Mezame sang to herself. After purchasing her goodies Mezame skipped out of the shop in high spirits. She opened up the sweets and shoved the packet in her pocket after picking one out. She unwrapped the individually wrapped pokéball sweet pausing to read the wrapping. Popping it into her mouth Mezame savoured the taste concentrating on it. "Wow! So that's what an oran berry tastes like! It's delicious!" Mezame tired of walking around the same city streets and found herself heading towards Route 8. Should she really be heading this way when wild Pokémon were known to live out there?

Glint stopped peddling and slowly rolled to a stop in one of Saffron City's expansive pedestrianised zones. He hoped that the trainer's home was nearby. If it was on the far side of the city, it might take an hour to get there. "Where'd I put that piece of paper?" Glint asked rhetorically, as he searched through his pockets. There was nothing in either of his waistcoat's pockets, so he pushed his hands into his trouser pockets, where he found the screwed up note. "Gruff, ruff ruff," Gruff said. Once he had Glint's attention, he looked at the safety box, on the back of the bicycle. Glint leaned his weight on his left leg and swung his right one over the top of the box, so that he could stand up properly and get a proper look inside. "You're right. It's glowing," Glint said. He plunged his hand into his bag to find his pokégear, so he could get some directions. "Hi there, Glint," someone said as they passed by. "G'morning," Glint responded. He smiled sweetly, even though he didn't recognise the man, and carried on shifting his hands around in his bag. The pokégear had to be in there somewhere. It was always in there--he knew that if he ever took it out he'd lose it. The only time he left it out of his bag was when he had to connect it to his computer to transfer some files. Wait... "Gruff, where's my pokégear?" Gruff looked back the way they'd come--back toward the daycare. "Great. Now how do we find this place?" Gruff looked around at the people, rushing back and forth, to and fro, off to their jobs or back to their homes. One of them had to know the address. Glint kicked out the stand for his bike and left it with Gruff. "I'll be right back." He must have asked a dozen people. They were all perfectly nice, but none of them helpful. None of them knew the address. Some of them said that it didn't exist. Glint was beginning to think he'd have to go back home to get his pokégear. "Hello there, Glint. You're out and about early," a mature gentleman said. Glint recognised him as one of the regular customers at the hatchery. He was a snubbull collector. "Good morning, sir," Glint nodded. "You look flustered. Anything I can help you with?" "Maybe. If you know this address," Glint said. He showed the man the paper and hoped for a positive reaction. "Heh. It hasn't gone by that address for years, boy. These days, everyone just calls it the Saffron Gym."

Mezame trudged back into the city and automatically headed for home. She stopped in her tracks looking down at the egg in her arms knowing she couldn't take it back into her house. Her parents would freak. She groaned loudly. "What was I thinking taking these guys with me? I can't take them home!" Mezame knew for sure how much trouble she'd be in if she brought Pokémon into the house. Mezame slumped against a lamp post. "Maybe I should find the Pokémon centre..." She looked around for a sign or something but couldn't see anything. Turning to look behind her Mezame noticed someone had left a bicycle with a dog Pokémon but it wasn't the bike that caught her attention, it was the egg safely secured to it. "Hey!" She yelled out to herself. "That's an egg like this one! Whoever that belongs to has gotta know about eggs!" She started towards it but the Pokémon egg guardian scared her from getting too close. Instead she kept back and waited until the bicycle owner came back before deciding what to do.

As Mezame approached her house she noticed both her parents cars weren't in the drive way. She pulled out the Pokéball from her pocket and took a deep breath telling herself not to freak out. "Starly, I need your help." She said holding the Pokéball out. It opened up in her hand and Starly flew out with an excitable cry. "Star~ly!" It circled Mezame spiralling upwards towards her head where it then flapped it's wings to hover over her and brace for landing. Mezame ran away a few steps and Starly lowered itself to the ground. "Staaarly" It said sadly. "Sorry Starly but I don't have time to freak out right now." Starly looked at Mezame curiously. "See that house there?" She asked pointing to it. Starly looked to where she was pointing and nodded. "That's my house." She told it. "We have to go in but I don't know where my parents are. They could come back any minute but I have to get some thing so we can go on our journey." "Staaar! Starly star! Star!" The Pokémon hopped around happily at the mention of a journey. Mezame giggled. "I know, I'm excited too but I can't leave looking like this." Mezame tugged on her shirt. "I need to get some things, so I need you to keep a look out okay?" "Staaaar-ly!" Starly's tone told Mezame she could count on it. She smiled and nodded. "Okay." Mezame agreed. She pointed to a window, "That's my room- if you see anyone coming, tap on the window." Starly nodded with a determined expression on it's face. Mezame returned the gesture and ran into the house. Mezame quickly changed her clothes, this time opting for knee lenght walking boots and a teal coloured dress. She pulled on her favourite purple jacket and dug a backpack out of her closet. After she'd finished packing a few extra clothes and other things she thought she might need, Mezame heard a tapping on her window and turned to see a somewhat panicked looking Starly hovering at her window. Mezame rushed to it. Her mother had just pulled up to the drive and would be getting out the car soon. "Gaaah!" Mezame yelled in a whisper. She grabbed her bag and ran down the stairs. The front door was out of the question so she made a dash for the back. It was too late, Mezame's mother had already walked through the front door and would no doubt hear the back door close if she tried to escape now. Looking around wildly for an idea Mezame's eyes landed on the storage cupboard in the kitchen and dived into it. "Hang on a second, I think I heard something." Mezame's mother walked into the kitchen. Mezame held her breath and peeked through the gap in the door. Her mother was on the phone, probably to her father. "Nope, seems like she's definitely not back yet." Her mother sighed. I guess I'll head out again and keep looking. Any luck on your part?" She paused listening on the other end. "Okay I'll see you later." Mezame's mother hung up and sighed as she walked out the kitchen and back out the house to her car. Mezame breathed a sigh of relief and climbed out of her hiding place. She opted for the back door anyway. As she stepped outside she heard her mother pull away. Starly had spotted her and landed on the fence near by and kept looking to Mezame from the front of the house. "Star..ly..." "Maybe you're right Starly..." She agreed. "Wait here." Mezame ran back inside the house and grabbed a pen and some paper. She put the note up on the fridge door- it said: Gone on a journey with Pokémon. I'm sorry. -Mezame."There!" Mezame said satisfied as she came out of the house again. "Least now they'll know I'm okay. C'mon Starly lets get going." Mezame was halfway down the street when the Pokémon following her soared around in a circle and landed on her head. "AIEE!! Damnit Starly!"

Staying in Saffron City would not be smart. Mezame knew she could bump into her parents too easily here, she needed to move on to a different place- But which one? Mezame didn't fancy going to the east. Not when it was where she was chased by beedrill and not when it was on route to Lavender Town which was known for being home to ghost Pokémon. To the west of her was Celadon, she knew there was lots to do there but also would rather save such a place for when she felt a little more comfortable with her new life as a Pokémon trainer. Mezame knew that towards the south was the sea but was unfamiliar with the area otherwise. And that left North, northwards was the Day Care and another smaller city beyond it. Mezame felt it was her best bet, if only because the day care was close by and if she needed help with her egg it would be close at hand. Feeling far enough away from her house, Mezame took off her bag and placed the egg container in it. It felt safe in there and left Mezame some free hands. Mezame was about to continue on her way when she noticed a Pokémart not far from her. "Oh cool. I wonder what kinda stuff they have in there. I could really do with somewhere safe to put Starly's Pokéball.

H and Charmander where walking through the Saffron city gate, it was not very busy on the streets so they did not have to worry about being recognized. Chamander was happily blowing out small flames and H was looking around nervously. H had to choose which way to go, he looked at his map and saw there was a Poké center to the left, a Poké mart to the right and straight ahead there was the Silph Co. headquarters, he had to be careful not to go there because after his last visit he 'borrowed' some of their new inventions. When H was walking towards the Poké center he heard a small flock of Starly above him, when he looked up he saw that the leader, a Staravia, was carrying another Starly in its claws. Charmander, H said, use your flamethrower to bring down that Staravia but be careful not to hit the Starly it is carrying. Char! Charmander said and a large flame came out of its mouth, the Staravia fell and opened his claws so the Starly fell and H caught it right before it hit the ground. It looks like it is hurt, H said, we should take it to the Poké center, let's hope Nurse Joy does not remember me from my last visit...

((continued from route7))Mezame was soon forced to slow down as she stepped out into the busy city. Mezame was on edge being back in Saffron, as she always was when she was there these days. She’d been gone overnight since they day she’d left home, and she’d never been away from home for that long before. If her parents found her now she’d be in so much trouble not to mention she’d never find Starly locked up in her parent’s house. Turning to Amie and sticking close by her so they didn’t get separated in the crowd asked. “I hope I’m not distracting you too much from whatever you were doing.” Mezame listened out for Amie’s reply as she concentrated on negotiating the crowd. She wondered if checking the Pokemon centre would be worth doing, there was always the chance that Starly had got free but was hurt.

Amie followed behind Mezame, keeping in sight of her when they entered the busy Saffron City. People pushing her and her pushing people back in responds was all she was focusing on as she tried to get through the city. She never did like crowds, and at least when there were crowds at her job before she had a little square all to herself. Still close enough to hear Mezame, Amie replied with, " Meh, I wasn't doing anything important." If the two were still heading to route eight she figured she could find a pokemon there or practice after she helped Mezame. Or maybe even have an audience for later and get some input. But that was all in the future and she didn't want to waste time thinking about that.

"Well that's lucky for me then." Mezame told Amie as the pair were approaching the Pokémon centre. Mezame was looking around at the sky for signs of her Pokémon but nothing was apparent. Mezame turned to Amie as they reached the Pokémon centre. "I guess I better check the Pokémon centre, even if Starly isn't here maybe someone would have seen it." With one last look across the sky Mezame heaved and sigh and pushed the door open to the Pokémon Centre. Unbeknownst to Mezame and her companion Starly was still in the Pokémon centre. But not for long. Starly had been kicking up a major fuss and Nurse Joy was beginning to have trouble controlling it. Starly had been patient while she tended to it's wounds but now it was mostly recovered it was causing her some hassle, flying around, knocking things over and trying to escape out the window. Nurse Joy realised that even if the bird Pokémon had a trainer, the Starly was not up for waiting for the trainer to come and get it. She opened up the window and Starly shot out of it and into the air. With Mezame coming in the front Starly didn't see her as it flew out the back. Starly was about to head back to route seven but it didn't get very far before it was apprehended by a group of other Starly, and they were not pleased. Mezame's Starly didn't struggle or try to get away, it knew there was no point trying to run away, it's flock would try and hunt it down no matter where it went. There was only one way to settle this, but with the Staravia now hurt it was going to be even more difficult. Starly was sure it would receive the blame for Staravia's injuries...

At least the crowd of bustling people had died down once they got close to the pokemon centre and she could easily hear Mezame speak. Amie nodded listening to Mezame's idea and followed her towards the pokemon centre. She hadn't been in too many pokemon centres before and wondered how many times she would frequent them and how many times Mezame had been in one before. As Amie walked in behind Mezame, she noticed a few things laying on the floor, broken or still in one piece. " Aren't Pokemon Centres supposed to be tidy?" She said aside to Mezame, looking over the mess. She walked further in, trying not to step on anything in the process.

Blaize had napped for awhile in the previous city and had ended up finding herself in another city. A rather large one. Her eyes widen as she saw the large buildings. However, she stopped when she heard a trainer call out his zubat, and they wanted to fight her.
Blaize growled a bit as she took a fighting stance, but said nothing. She knew better than to say anything. The zubat used supersonic, confusing Blaize. Blaize twitched her ears as she released a flamethrower towards the zubat, but missing the zubat and hitting a tree. It didn't take long before the tree went up in flames.
The trainer got distracted with the burning tree which gave Blaize time to try and shake off the confusion. She shook her head a few times and a few minutes later she was back to herself and fled away from the scene.

After a day of eagerly waiting to start his journey, Josh sat up in his bed and let out a big yawn. Josh grabbed a Pokeball and released his Pichu from the ball. "This is going to be a big day for us Pichu" He said, his Pichu smiled and climbed Josh's arm up to his neck and started Licking his face Josh chuckled " He-hey cut it out that tickles" He said. Josh got up out of his bed and got dressed while his pichu was playing with trying to get a boncy ball that was underneath a dresser. Josh went downstairs to see his Grandpa cooking a breakfast for Josh's departation. 'Grandpa you didn't have to cook such a big breakfast, if anything I should be the one cooking brakfast" Said Josh. " Don't worry about. I just wanted to make a last meal for you before you go" Said Josh's Grandpa. "Thanks, I'm really gonna miss living here" Josh said with a sad tone. "Dont't worry you'll do fine, and if you do ever get homesick just call me on the phone or drop by for a visit if your near the city" Said Grandpa. " Okay I will" Said Josh. Josh sat down and started eating " Wow this is probably one of the best meals you ever made Grandpa." Thanks, I put a lot of effort into it." Said Grandpa. " I left a "Bento box" on the corner take it with you when you go" Said Grandpa. Okay I will Grandpa" Josh said. Josh took a deep breath and walked towards the door with the Bento box his Grandpa made for him. "See ya in a couple weeks Grandpa" Said Josh. With his Pichu on his shoulder Josh opened the door and his adventure began.

Violet exited the pokemon center feeling pretty optimistic. She wondered what sort of things she could get at the pokemart. She stretched and yawned to keep herself awake. When she opened her eyes she about had a heart attack. There two inches from her face was a red headed girl with green eyes. The girl was smiling in a way that made Violet uncomfortable. Violet took a step back to give herself some room and asked "Can I help you?" with that phrase the girl grabbed her arm and dragged her halfway across the street. "What the heck do you think your doing?" Violet yelled as she tried to free her arm. The girl seemed to be as strong as a machoke, yet as oblivious as a psyduck and wouldn't let go of her arm. She leaned close and whispered "Okay Sam I'll lead you to the warehouse" and then she dragged her away from the road and into a building. The entire time Violet was sure she was being abducted or something. She was also a little curious about who this Sam person was. Violet rubbed her arm as the girl released her and looked around. The warehouse had tons of CD's on a few tables. There was one computer in the middle of the room. Violet finally asked "Alright, who are you, and what is this place" she wasn't very amused with whatever was happening. The girl replied "Oh Sam, don't you remember your good friend Tracey? And don't tell me you've forgotten our get rich quick plan!" The girl, whose name was apparently Tracey exclaimed. Violet just blinked slowly as she tried to figure out a response. Finally she said "I have terrible memory" to try and get some answers. Tracey just giggled and ran up to the pile of CD's and picked one up. "We're going to burn these TM's and sell them for half the price the pokemarts does!" she explained quickly. Violet squinted, she couldn't believe this girl thought that would work. "Is that even legal... besides I don't think TM's work like that otherwise-" Violet was cut off as Tracey proceeded to grab her arm and drag her to the computer. "See we put the blank discs here and the real TM's here. Then we burn them and write the name of the move onto the new TM's" Tracey said excitedly. Violet took a step away. 'This chick is crazy... hm, crazy Tracey... it's almost a pun' Violet thought to herself. "Shouldn't you test them?" Violet asked as she made her way towards the door. Tracey jumped up "Oh yes, that's what the pokemon you sent me is for!" she exclaimed excitedly. She threw Violet a pokeball. Violet let the pokemon out to see what it could possibly be. A sneasel appeared. It looked up at Tracey and yelled "Snee~ZEL" before looking up at Violet and hiding behind her. It hugged her leg in a way that suggested it was saying "save me from this crazy girl" Violet blinked "What in the world did you do to-" she was cut off again as Tracey, holding a disc yelled "Testing time."

Tracey handed Violet a disc that read 'flamethrower' Violet raised an eyebrow. "Sneasel can't learn flamethrower" she explained as if she were talking to a child. "What about earthquake?" Tracey asked as she searched through the discs. Violet shook her head. "Here, I have a pokemon we can test the disc on." Violet said as she grabbed a pokeball from her pocket. She threw it and Blaze appeared in a flash of red. "Blaze this lady is going to try this... TM on you, okay?" Violet said in a gentle tone. Blaze nodded happily, he then turned to face Tracey, and started to shake his head vigorously. Violet let out a sigh and picked him up. Tracey skipped over nearly slamming into Violet. The way Violet looked at things, there was nothing to lose. If the 'TM' didn't work she had only lost time, but if it did she had learned a powerful move free of charge. Tracey did what a trainer would normally do to use a TM on poor Blaze. "alright, flamethrower!" she yelled a bit too loudly. Blaze looked at Violet for confirmation. "Give it a try" she said with a nod. Blaze opened his mouth, and flames did come out, but it was only ember. Tracey cheered "It worked!" to which Violet quickly responded "No, that was ember." Tracey frowned. "I wonder what we did wrong." Violet bit her tongue, trying not to try and explain to Tracey that TM's couldn't be burned, but then she got an idea. Violet tried frowning as though she were equally confused, but it ended up looking like she was trying not to throw up. "Maybe the original TM is busted, we should test that one out." she said slowly. Tracey paused and then squealed "Your brilliant, Sam! This is why I wanted you as my partner!" She then walked up to the computer and ejected the real TM. She then applied it to Blaze. Violet smiled and said "Okay Blaze try it out." Blaze nodded happily, knowing what she was doing. He then let out a huge jet of flame. Violet leaned her upper body away from him and Sneasle ran off to hide farther away from the heat. "Well looks like that wasn't it." Violet said in a strained voice. Violet couldn't believe she had tricked the girl in letting her use a TM for free. Violet looked around her, there was never ending possibility, she could have her pokemon learn any move she wanted them to. It was then that the door flew open. Violet jumped and looked to see who it was. She squinted trying to figure it out. It was then that she was confused. It looked like it was her standing in the doorway, like she had a clone staring back at her. Then as her eyes adjusted she realized that it was not the case. While their body and facial structure were identical, this girl had blonde hair and green eyes. Quite different from Violet's brown hair and eyes. Besides that this girl wore pink, fuzzy, awful clothes. "Sam!" Tracey shouted as she ran up to the girl. They both hugged each other furiously. Violet blinked, there went her alias. Sneasel came out from under the table to see what was happening. When he saw the real Sam he panicked even more than before and looked around trying to decide where to run. Violet returned him to his pokeball before he could try anything. Sam looked at Violet and asked "Who is this?" quite gleefully. Tracey responded with "Just someone trying to help me work through some kinks in our plan." in a bubbly tone. Violet just nodded in agreement. Tracey grabbed her and pushed her out of the 'warehouse' before saying "Kay, thanks, bye!" and slamming the door. Violet blinked a moment before knocking on the door "You forgot your sneasel" she yelled. She waited a moment before hearing a muffled "Keep him!" Violet shrugged, all the better for her. Blaze looked up at her with questioning eyes to which Violet just sighed and shook her head. Violet let sneasel out of his pokeball. "Hey, um, your trainer gave you to me... do you want to join me on my journey?" she asked politely. Sneasel jumped up and down happily saying "Snee, Snee, Snee" Violet smiled, he seemed glad to be away from crazy Tracey and senile Sam. Violet thought a moment, maybe it wasn't a pun. Puns were a play on words, she was just rhyming. Violet shook her head to clear her thoughts. She decided to train her pokemon a little before doing anything else. 'But first things first' she thought as she looked back at the building. With that she started sprinting away from the nut house with as much speed as she could muster. Blaze and sneasel were able to keep up fairly well. After awhile she sat down and started to think about training.
