The vikings and other Nordic followers spent their time in Europe, and thus, they have no way to have created ruins in the middle of America.
It is for this reason that the Nordic ruins just outside of New Virterra City have been widely dubber the ninth wonder of the world. Many years of study and scientific endeavor have gone into the project but never have they had any true success.

Cam's red pick-up with her own personal, water wing imbued, jolly roger sprayed on the side pulled up into the tourist trap car park and came to a hold. The engine shut down and then the doors opened, revealing two young university students. "And they say that nobody has ever been able to crack the-" Amy paused. "I've been talking the entire ride here, haven't I?" she asked, throwing her camera bag over her shoulder and slamming the truck door. "-sorry, I'm just, you know, excited." A middle aged man ran up to them holding a bucket and a squeegee, he raised the cleaning tool, Amy attempted to catch him before he could attack the car with cleanliness, and charge an exorbitant fee, but the squeegee came down and the man grinned his satisfaction. "Thanks, but we just got it cleaned." she told him, brushing hair behind her ears, hoping that he would just move along. "ah, should have said something sooner, I've started now, it's going to cost you whether I finish or not." Amy opened her mouth to speak, but didn't know what to say. She turned to Cam for help as she hitched her bag up to avoid it dropping. "We don't have any money on us." she said, almost like a question. He frowned and squinted at her. "Then how are you getting into the Ruins?" Amy scrambled to pull her ticket from her bag and flashed it at the window cleaner. He glared at her for a moment before stalking off. Amy let out a sigh of relief and wandered around the truck to Cam. "Don't let me do that again, you know I don't like confrontation!"

Cam had loaded in her truck with Amy, throwing her satchel in the back and squealing her wheels out of the parking lot as she usually did. She hadn't realized just how focussed and stressed she was over the story she was writing, and the one she wanted to write, and now the young journalist could tell how much she needed a good time out with her friend.
She drove through a drive-in starbucks and ordered herself a huge, double caffeinated coffee and bought Amy her favorite drink as a thank you for dragging her out of the dorm before making the trek to the ruins site. Before the truck had time to simmer to a sleep after being turned off, an old man was making fast work of washing her windshield.
"Oh, come on..." she grumbled, slipping her sunglasses on and readying herself to verbally bust his head open. She didn't have time, however, as Amy stepped in and took charge.
"Wow, Ames. You should talk to hot guys more often...You're like a new person. I've never seen you so feisty." Cam said with a grin as she locked the truck and shoved her hands in her jacket pockets. "Oh, hang on," she stopped herself, "I better get my bag. I might want to ask some questions while I'm here." She looked sheepish, realizing this only proved she could never stop working.
Once her bag was over her shoulders, Camilla caught up with Amelia and gave her a nudge in the shoulder. "Thanks for dragging me out. I was an inch away from crazy." She grinned and looked at her feet while she walked.
(sorry its so crappy, bit its better than nothing...we need to skype again soon. I miss ya)

Amy smiled, "No problem." she said as they made their way past a group of Asian tourists, and into the front door. A young, bored looking, woman took their tickets and they went on through into the main lobby. the ruins were extensive, about a square mile long and wide altogether, however a large section was out of bounds to the public where archaeologists and scientists worked tirelessly to uncover the secrets. Amy stepped forward, through the lobby area, set up by the billionaire and conservator of the ruined city, businessman Sarren Salem. he had originally kept it solely for research, however after years of trying with no success he opened sections up to the public with a very tourist trap-esque nature. Amy didn't care, so long as it was only sections that had yielded no results, she was just happy she could see the ruins for herself.
A few minutes passed as they waited for a guide to take them through and eventually one came out, gathering up Amy, Cam and four others, the Asian tourists from the entrance and a young man she vaguely recognized as someone she had seen on the other side of her Ancient mythology lecture theater. "If everyone would like to follow me, please, the tour will begin." The tour guide said, uttering the first and last words Amy would actually listen to that day. She could tell already that the woman would just be recalling boring facts she had been told, not any information she knew. The group started in through a dark hole at the far end of the lobby and walked around the corridors of what felt like a massive complex, if it weren't made from stone Amy would have thought it was an office building or a science institute. The walls were covered by strange symbols, some nordic in origin, others... she had no idea, they were like nothing she had ever seen. Amy pulled her camera from her bag and swapped the long range lens for a short range, dark lens and added a weak flash, enough to light it but not enough to cause light damage. She shot one of the walls and placed the camera strap around her neck, swinging the bag back onto her back. "Its amazing..." she muttered, mostly to herself, as she stared at the words written in a language so old that nobody knew what it could possibly mean. She turned to Cam and walked with her along the tour. After a few minutes they came to a cross roads, the guide walked one way, but Amy stopped. She suddenly felt very heavy, staring down the second corridor. Her necklace grew hot under her shirt. She pulled it out and held it up. It was a silver chain with a gold tag, it almost looked like dog tags but it was shaped like a six sided diamond. usually it was plain, however now... now there were symbols, symbols like the ones on the walls. A moment passed and she looked down the corridor. Something was lit up at the far end. letters up and down the wall were glowing suddenly. She turned to the guide group, where Cam was waiting for her and bit her lip. She dropped her necklace onto her chest and raised a finger to Cam, indicating she needed a minute. She took a step across the threshold of the second corridor and instantly lost her footing. there was a bang as she hit the floor, and then, suddenly, she was no longer on the floor. She was falling. She rolled in the air and looked up, Cam's terrified face screamed after her, but there was no rubble following in her wake. No rubble and no noise.
Amy landed with a thud. It felt as though she was falling for an age, but she had landed without a scratch. She forced herself up and brushed herself off, quickly checking her camera equipment, just to be sure it was ok. Amy looked up and found that she must have fallen twenty, thirty feet. "I..." she looked around, finding a corridor. "There's a passage" she shouted up to Cam. "I'm gonna follow it and hopefully find my way out." She waved her hand up to her friend and then turned to the passage.
It was incredibly dark, even with the very slgiht glow of the letters and symbols on the walls as she walked further into the caverns. Amy eventually used her camera's night mode to steer her way through the passage. What felt like hours took her through a long series of tunnels until she found herself going towards a light, a bright light, hopefully not thee bright light, but a bright light for sure. She stepped into it and found herself in a large circular room with spot lights and computers, wires and security cameras. She smiled, she must have been coming to the end. Perhaps she'd find- her necklace sparked and the floor shook gently. in the centre of the room a circle no bigger than a water melon opened in the floor and a pedestal raised up. Amy knew she should leave, but she couldn't. she walked to the pedestal and looked at what it held. A six sided diamond was carved into the top. She paused for a moment, eying the cameras, but then, she knew she had no choice. She took off her necklace and un-clipped the pendant from the chain. she placed it over the hole and it fell in.a circle glowed on the top, begging Amy to push it in. She obliged. The girl pulled her hand back as a small spike pierced her skin, drawing blood adn dripping it across the metal. A few moments passed and then all the electronics in the room blew. Amy dropped into a crouched position and then displays appeared from nowhere across all the walls, on the ceiling and on the floor. She looked up, the displays were holographic, but... that was impossible. it was thousands of years old, how could they... A man, nordic in appearance, save for a variety of incredibly techy looking things all across his attire, appeared on the displays, staring at her. He began to speak, but she didn't understand. A white light exploded from the ceiling, hitting her and dragging her into the air. A moment of sheer agony later she passed out.
Amy opened her eyes gingerly, a man stood over her with an annoyed expression. "What are you doing here?" he asked. The girl was a little too stunned to explain. "What have you dont to our equipment?" Amy looked around, the large room now had people in it, looking around at all the broken equipment. The pedestal was now gone. "I... I don't know... I was on a tour... I fell through a hole and tried to find my way out... something happened here... I dont knwo what but..." "Sir, we did get a report of a missing girl, I can escort her back to her friend, she's been waiting in the security area, quite vocal in her anger that we've not found her yet." "Fine, fine, whatever." the man stood up and walked away. "Come on," the other man offered, helping Amy up and walking her back to her friend. She still had no idea what the hell was going on.
