Ebreth's Training Ground A narrow trail has led you from a small Omacan village through dense forrest. You now stand at the edge of a clearing littered with mangled tree stumps and splintered wood. Your attention is drawn to the far end as you hear the sound of metal sliding across metal followed by a loud clank, and the echoing *thwack* of a blade slicing through solid wood. A hulking figure stands in the distance. As he lowers his sword to greet you, you see the large sphere of metal set in his blade slide from hilt to tip.

History Ebreth's father had two passions... sailing and swordfighting. On most days he found himself sailing between the islands or forging weapons to arm his community against outside attacks. During a particularly bad wave of pirate raiding and pillaging in the area, he realized that his people needed an edge to curb the problem. Being a masterful and innovative craftsman, he designed a new weapon made of inexpensive materials that could inflict large amounts of damage in melee. He took the heavy iron weights used to stablize his ship from the lower deck and melted some down, forming a sphere of metal notched on both sides. He then forged a greatsword with an open center, setting the sphere in the blade so that it would slide hilt to tip as it was swung, carrying the weight of the heavy iron ball through whatever it struck. Determined to make his people feared and respected, he gathered the townsfolk and presented his new weapon. He told them, "All who stand to defend their homeland, make yourselves stronger. Take up this sword and train until we strike fear in the hearts of those who wish us harm." Since that day, able bodied members of his community took up the new weapon and honed their skills, and made themselves a force to be respected. This was many years before the birth of Ebreth, and many years have past since his father's death, but to this day the strongest defenders of their homeland still use weapons based on this unique design. Ebreth was trained by his father in the use of Ballasted Swords in his youth, and today lives to defend his homeland and stand against those who would threaten he and his companions.

You make your way through the city and arrive at the docks. Zephra and his crew are already there checking over the ship and loading cargo. You Captain Zephra giving orders and keeping a mindful eye on a few of the ropes that are securing a sail. He takes notice of you.
"Master Ebreth is on Deck, mates." A loud "Hoooo, Ebreth" comes from the mouths of the sailors around. You know this to be a typical way they greet those who they respect but who aren't actual sailors. The captain comes to you, "The wind's seem ill since yesterday morn, I wonder what kind of weather we'll be sailing through. Did you check our charter yet?"

You checked the charter, the destination is called Southwest island and is rumored to be a ship graveyard. Apparently some adventurers from Mavos have come, and since capt Spitz's ship wasn't in port, hired the 2nd most reputed ship for taking dangerous charters.

I greet the adventurers who hired us when they arrive.
"Welcome aboard. I'm Ebreth. I'll be handling any trouble we run into on deck, so don't you worry. We'll get you there safely." By the way, Are there any other fighters on deck (anyone else that does my job)?

They're all fairly non descript, but they nod and introduce themselves. They're pretty much 2 male elven warriors, and 1 female human mage. And yes, there are other mercenaries hired on the ship. Sahaugin are like goblins in this campaign, and they boast some considerable numbers. At around the noon, the ship sets sail, the waters seem fine, jsut a bit choppy.

You travel for a fair chunk of the day. Just on the horizon, you can see the storm clouds begin to gather, almost in anticipation of your arrival. As you draw nearer, it is evident that you are driving straight into a storm. Whats worse is that a storm seems to have appeared behind you, locking you in, making it seem like its a better option to just keep going to the island. The winds are strong. and the waves huge, but your helmsmen does an excellent job in steering the ship. Just when the man in the crows nest yells "land Ho!" The most horrific thing occurs. A series of tornados drop out of the sky and begins circling the ship destroying all propulsion from the sails, causing your ship to come into a dead float. As the crew begins to look worrysome, the most unexpected thing happens, Lightning strikes the rear of your ship, blasting away a portion of the top rear deck where the helm was located. As the debris clears, a man you've never seen before stands in damaged area. He begins walking through people, just cutting them down with his large sword, lit with electricity, easily held in one hand. A familiar sound can be heard though, w/ each swing. The sound of a weight sliding from hilt to tip of a ballasted sword crafted by your father....the carnage continues as he begins to cut a path in your direction.
