After the duel-chat with Shisa, Chaka had gone out to find and challenge Fiamma to a second duel. This time, the implication was that she had one more chance to beat him and then they would agree to having her train with them. Shisa was tagging along but not participating immediately, though they never bothered to really explain their decision to have Chaka duel when he'd already won the once.
"Fiamma," he said, having finally learned her name now that he was standing opposite her, ready to duel, "Ready?"

Fiamma was muling it over, thinking that she absolutely had to win this duel. She wanted to be the very best as a warrior, help protect her Pride, and of course some of the recognition didn't hurt anything. She wriggled her shoulders, Fiamm's muscles were tense, she tried very hard to relax herself. It would be better if she could focus, not become enraged like last time and look like an idiot. The Firekin's family had raised, and trained her better than that.
"As I'll ever be," she replied, glaring at him.

Move: Hit!
"All right, then."
She was focused, he could see that. He couldn't dance around trying to provoke her the same way as last time, and he never intended to. This was a more serious duel after all. He wasn't avoiding a random attack, he was testing her. Sort of.
Chaka gave one short, polite nod to indicate the duel was started- and he moved almost immediately. His first move, as it often was, was the simplest, most direct thing he knew. He ran at Fiamma, aiming to tackle her into the sand.

Move: Hit!
Fiamma wasn't necessarily expecting the same song and dance as last time, but she didn't anticipate him being so direct at first. Attempting to walk backwards, the lioness did not manage to move in time and stumble beneath his weight. Fiamma's feet out from behind her and she ended up being face to face with him pinned.
Not liking such close contact with the larger male she used her front paw to push him away. The bottom of her foot pushed against his cheek, attempting to get him away from. She shoved hard growling. Fiamma was thinking her best bet was if she could stay out of close quarters with him, not give him the chance to pounce.

Move: Hit!
Chaka wasn't ready for the fight to end after one move so he wasn't putting his full weight into holding her down-- not to mention he wasn't expecting her to aim right for the face, though it was a smart move. He stumbled to stay on his feet when he was forced away from her, managing to keep to his feet and acting, hopefully, before Fiamma could get up and get away. He reached out, claws extended, aiming for her shoulder area, intending to force her back into the sand or, at the very least, making standing up that much more painful.

Move: Miss!
Fiamma tried to use him moving away to give herself enough time to get to her feet and away from him, but he was took quick and landed an attack before she realized where he was aiming. She groaned low in the back of the throat, enraged. It wasn't supposed to be like this, Fiamma was sure she'd win this time, be able to train with them. Small dots of blood started to seep from the shoulder scratch. Teetering and able to get to her feet, she tried to not wince while her shoulder moved.
She moved forward jerkily and aimed to do the same damage to him, swiping out with the unharmed arm. Unfortunately, her swipe only caught air.

Move: Miss!
As soon as his claws hit fur, Chaka was on his way back and away from Fiamma. He didn't get a good enough hit in to stick around an follow through, and it was lucky he did as she swiped back out at him. He watched her paw fly by and made another quick move, too far away to just reach out again, so he leaped at her again. He hoped he'd either hit her or force her backward, something that would not help her.

Move: Hit!
Fiamma didn't want to fall for this again, being pinned underneath him would be a foolish move, and besides it looked ridiculous. Not having any real time to calculate and already feeling the fiery rage coursing through her she attempted the same attack as before, only this time she throw her paws and claws toward his chest, hoping to wound him so that Chaka might think twice about launching himself at her.
Having landed her attack she skidded backwards in the sand trying to put space between them.

Move: Bide!
Chaka had a thick mane to help protect his neck and chest but it didn't stop the shove from working- caught by surprise and thrown off balance mid-air, there wasn't much Chaka could do to land well. He hit the stand, landing on his shoulder, but he was quick to get back up. Like Fiamma, he put more distance between them, though he moved with a slight limp as he recovered from the fall.
"You're doing much better this time," he commented.

Move: Bide
She stepped toward him, and winced as she moved her shoulder oddly, the claw marks there had been pulled taunt. It took all of her will power not to be dumb like last time and charge forward. Instead the red lioness stood in place, breathing, waiting, trying to use her brain to think of what to do next. Sometimes, it was better to calculate than to rush into things. Perhaps let him make the next move.
She was tired, they were not long into their fight, but sometimes being so emotionally pumped full of adrenaline took a lot out of you.

Move: Hit!
"We're not done yet," he said, pacing back and forth in a small line across from Fiamma, still pondering his next best move. They'd both come to a halt, this would not do as a way to finish up their match. They were about even so far, there was no clear winner when it ended this way- so he had to try again. He did what he always figured was a good way to get someone moving again, he barreled toward his opponent- making no particular move except to run full-force into her.

Move: Bide!
Thinking that there was no way she would be able to avoid a collision with him, and it would look like she was a sissy if she ran. Fiamma turned her body exposing her good shoulder with him. She cringed falling back, feeling jarred. That was going to leave a bruise, a Chaka sized bruise.
"It's over now," she murmured, eyes blurred from pain, "You win."

Total: 12-11, Chaka wins!
Not quite expecting her to just brace herself and not do anything in return, Chaka was moving much faster and aiming much harder than he might have otherwise- but this was one of the things about dueling someone you weren't familiar with. He bounced back from her, stumbling a step away when he realized she wasn't about to fight back. It was a very sudden change, from attack mode to neutral.
"That's it, then," he said, looking her up and down.

Fiamma blinked trying to straighten herself out, still jarred from the impact. She was feeling that she gave up too easily, but she was wounded, and the exhaustion was again taking its toll, perhaps she was too dehydrated to be taking on duels.
Fiamma was more than a little mad at herself, she'd lost, and they weren't going to want to train with her. She'd proven she wasn't one of the cool kids, and didn't belong in their club. Grunting without saying another word to him she started to walk away from them. The red lioness was feeling dumb and defeated. She'd taken a hit she should've tried to avoid.

Chaka was waiting, intentionally letting her get worked up about it. They had no intention of rejecting her based solely on one duel. One duel didn't mean a whole lot, she wasn't bad and she wanted to improve, that was all that really mattered to them. He opened his mouth to correct the perception of what was about to happen but he was cut off by her grunt and decision to walk away. He closed his mouth again and watched her go.
He shook his head and turned to where Shisa had been sitting, observing. That was that, then. For now.
Fin!
