Well, my favorite part of Chorus is Musicals. So I had to make a thread just about them. Whatever it is about musicals I guess you can post it here. I myself want to see "Wicked" on Broadway this summer! It looks so good! Check it out! Its the land of Oz BEFORE Dorothy comes! Its the story of the two Witches! I saw Godspell this year too. It was really good. My firends school did it. It was actually really good, I think its a good show for all. I dont care that it was religious at all, its a good show, and conveys a universal moral, to get along. Im in Pajama Game right now. I got the charachter Max, which is a nice part considering Im a freshman! I wanst expecting to get this part! Whats it about? Oh well... its simple. Sex. Money. & Pajamas. Its a feel good show, and is pretty much pointless, but I like it. (except for the song "I love you more" I do NOT like that song.) Well, what interest have you all in musicals?

Our Drama Club (run by the choir director) went up to New York to see Beauty and the Beast.
I enjoyed the shopping and sight-seeing more than the actual play, but that's me gonk
Our school is doing Beauty and the Beast.. we're like the 4th high school in the US to do it 3nodding

I usually don't really like musicals that much. I mean, really, the ones performed in school are usually kinda.... blah (for example, we did Meet Me In St. Louis in 2003).
I like watching some of the darker ones, though. Rent is a favorite. I rather enjoyed Sweeny Todd when we watched it in choir last year. Yeah. ._.;;

lol I'm even more of a musical nerd than chorus nerd... well... almost. Our school's musicals aren't great (no one really knows what they are doing) but I've been in a couple anyway. Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera are my favourite (equally almost), and Rent and the Scarlet Pimpernel. We just finished doing West Side Story at my school (I wasn't in it this year because I couldn't make rehearsals sad ), which turned out pretty good. And we always sing broadway songs in chorus, too, which I love. The one we did best was "The impossible dream" from Man of La Mancha. But my favourite was the Les Mis and Phantom medleys we've done, of course. xd

oh, I love musicals! I'm listening to music from Into the Woods right now, my all-time favorite musical. I love the happy-fairytale feel of the first act, and the contrast the darker side of reality that comes through in the second act.
So, yes, I've been in 110 in the Shade, Les Miz, and Carousel. chorus in all of them, Viva la Chorus! My school did Jekyll and Hyde and Jane Eyre this fall, but I wasn't able to be in them because of time constraints. I would love to see Wicked, my friend has the soundtrack, and the few songs that I have seen from it I fell in love with it. The one that I really want to see is The Lion King. I have the soundtrack, and a bunch of my friends saw it in London last year, but I didn't get to. sad someday, I will. The really frusterating thing? it's coming it a city near me next September, but by the time it gets here, I'm going to be in college on the other side of the country. xp ah well, I'll find some time to go see it someday.
I also love Sweeny Todd, we watched the DVD in choir last year when we had a sub.
Anyway yes, love musicals!

You have the story of wicked all wrong Sorry hun xD It isnt really before dorothy came although the headings and things might be misleading. It is WHILE dorothy is in the land of oz but from the perspective of Elphaba (The Wicked Witch Of The West) Originally played by Idina Menzel. Its basically about the friendship between Galinda or Glinda, Elphaba, and Fiyero. Fiyero is a prince whom both witches fall in love with for different reasons. I had the profound experience and oportunity to see Wicked 3 days before Idina Menzel fell down the passageway making it her last show for Wicked. She broke her rib in the process of falling. She will soon be departing for San Fransisco to film the original cast movie of Rent. I do strongly believe that Wicked is the BEST show to EVER run on broadway. And I have seen a lot of shows.

oki then... I havent actually SEEN the show yet, I just sorta assumed it was before Dorothy, because in the synopsis on the web site, it says "Long before Dorothy Dropped in" So I assumed it was before her, so whatever sweatdrop .
But either way, I REALLY WANT TO GO SEE IT!
(and wow, I'm suprised I got a response! I didnt think anybody would post but me! YAAY! Thanks, keep on posting!)
Oh wow Annie! I was in Into the Woods, I like the show.. but after singing "Into the wood, and out of the wood!" so many times... oh jeeze. But still its a great show, I love it.

....was "Into The Woods" the one with the anatomically correct wolf?
If not what was that? My drama class in sixth grade watched something with an anatomically correct wolf, and the teacher had to keep telling people to stop laughing. ._.;

Galinda says, yeah hun follow that yellow road the WHOLE way! And it shows her at the end tossing the bucket of water at Elphaba, and in the movie when they're following the yellow brick road its towards the end of the movie.. So I guess really it was WHILE dorothy was in Oz but from a different prespective ^^

Blunt. I guess thats how I am.. I wear my feelings on my sleeves, and it usually gets me in trouble! XD Anyways.. On a different topic.. I saw it at out local theatre and then our Fine Arts and Music Thoery teacher recorded the broadway recording that was on tv so I got to see that too ^^ It was an overall decent show, catchy tunes.. Fairly detailed plot, pretty funny ^^ Anyways.. I want to see Rent with Idina in it! I saw it at the Webster theatre (its near the new york connecticut border) With pretty good actors.. I liked the plot and characters, I didnt really like some of the songs and the actors and actresses were pretty blah :-/ But im sure Idina playing Maureen will turn the show around ^^

You have no idea how close we are. I was AT that performance, 3rd row. I consider myself very lucky I won the lottery that day. Wicked is an absolutely great musical, yes. But, there are other great musicals on Broadway right now. Avenue Q is absolutely hilarious and has great music, and there's a new show called Brooklyn which will run for years to come it's so good.
