A fairly new and quiet town. It's a small and pretty place.

As Dogwood left Professor Oak's laboratory, he saw two old men fishing. They were reeling in fish after fish, which seemed oddly peculiar. He walked over to see what was going on. Peering into the water, he saw a ludicrous amount of Pokemon swimming about.

One old man leaned over and spoke to Dogwood, "You got here at a great time. These water types are swarming like crazy right now."
"Get 'em while the gettin's good," the other shouted.

Without so much as thinking it through, Dogwood chucked a Pokeball straight into the swarm. To his dismay, the Pokeball hit the water and sank. The two old men laughed, and one explained that you had to fish a Pokemon out before you could use the Pokeball. Dogwood grabbed a spare rod and cast his line out. Within moments, he had a bite. He reeled it in to see what it was.
It was a gray, ugly looking fish Pokemon. He took out his Pokedex, and it began speaking in a monotone voice, "Feebas; the Fish Pokemon. Feebas are hardy Pokemon that can survive with very little water. However, they are slow and dim-witted, making them easy to catch." Dogwood released it without hesitation. Why on earth would anyone want such a useless Pokemon?
Once again, Dogwood cast his line out, and once again, caught a Pokemon almost immediately. This time he caught a blue little Pokemon, with a wide, green rim on it's head that looked like a lily pad. The Pokedex spoke again, "Lotad; the Water Weed Pokemon. Lotad thrives in clean water and the large leaf on it's head serves as a ferry for Pokemon that can't swim." Admirable, for a Pokemon. Dogwood held the Pokeball out, and a flash of light surrounded the Lotad. It shook in his hand. Then shook again, and again, before subsiding. The Pokedex spoke, "Congratulations. Would you like to give a nickname to your Lotad?" Dogwood thought about it for a moment, then snapped his fingers together, "I've got the perfect name; Charon."

After chimchar's pokéball was transferred Professor Oak talked through some basics of pokémon training, most of which Jetta had already figured out for herself from watching trainers pass through Mossdeep. After the professor had finished with that, he advised Jetta to head to Pewter - back through Viridian - and challenge the leader of the rock-type gym. Then, just as Jetta was about to leave, he chased after her and told her that she must catch at least one more pokémon if she was to have any chance of beating "Brock".
Jetta thanked him, then stepped outside, right into the middle of a pokémon battle.

"I said use ember!" Solomon screamed at his pokémon. The charmander growled at its trainer, seemingly annoyed at being yelled at over and over.
"Hmph. It doesn't know ember yet," Reginald scoffed. "Bulbasaur, tackle attack again!"
The little bulbasaur that stood opposite the grumpy charmander charged forward. It hit its opponent and knocked it back.
"Charmander use slash!" Solomon ordered.
Jetta knew that the little pokémon wouldn't know what slash was either. It might know scratch, though.
"Char!" the pokémon squeaked. It jumped up and ran over to the bulbasaur, then scratched it across the face.
"Saur!" the bulbasaur cried.
"Bulbasaur, now use growl," Reginald ordered. His pokémon's body went all rigid and it showed its flat, herbivore teeth. A light rumble came from within its little body.
"Charmander, do it again!" Solomon barked. "Keep doing it 'til it's dead!"
The charmander scratched and scratched and scratched, but they didn't seem to have as much effect as the first one did. That must've been down to the growl.
"Tackle, bulbasaur!"
"Saur!" the bulbasaur roared. Though it wasn't much of a roar... Still, the tackle attack did enough to knock the charmander off its feet. It loooked to Jetta like the battle was over.
"Charmander is unable to battle, so bulbasaur is the winner," Petra announced.
"No fair!" Solomon screeched, sounding very much like a girl. "It wouldn't use ember like I told it to."
"It hasn't learned it yet. You have to train it first, Sol. It's not as easy as just shouting the commands," Reginald scoffed. "Now hand over the money."
"Money?" Jetta muttered, just for herself really. Professor Oak was stood behind her, in the doorway, though, and he heard her.
"Some trainers battle for money. The best make a living off it," he explained.
"Jetta, was it? Do you want to battle? Fifty dollars to the winner," Reginald said. "Beat you and it's a whitewash."

Jetta didn't see what harm a pokémon battle could do. It might even be a good way to get to know her new chimchar.
She nodded to Reginald, "Okay. We'll take you on."
"I'll referee again~" Petra offered, waving two different coloured handkerchiefs around.
"And I'll see you pathetic losers later," Solomon grumped. He stomped off, without even going back into the lab to get his pokémon healed.
Jetta thought he might be like that; too proud to graciously admit defeat. He probably thought Reginald had cheated or something.
"Who gets the first move?" Reginald enquired.
Jetta shrugged. She didn't think it was done that way. At least, it wasn't in Hoenn. Maybe things were different in Kanto. "Whoever's fastest?"
"Sounds fair," Reginald nodded.
Jetta took her new pokémon's ball out of her bag and tossed it up into the air, not very high, but high enough for it to pop open and for the chimchar to appear on the floor before Jetta caught it again.
"Char?" the pokémon questioned, looking around at its new surroundings.
Jetta crouched down to it and said "Hello. My name's Jetta. I'm your new trainer."
The pokémon looked at her and frowned a little. "Chim~cha~cha~cha!"
"We've been challenged to a battle. What do you think?" Jetta asked.
"Chimchar," the pokémon nodded sternly. It turned about and saw the bulbasaur stood at the feet of a tall, bespectacled young man.
"Ready?" Jetta asked, standing again.
Reginald nodded, then flung his right hand forward, shouting "Bulbasaur, use tackle!"
Jetta responded instantly; "Leer, chimchar!"
The grass pokémon smashed into the fire one, then stood tall in front of it, trying to seem impressive. Jetta's chimchar didn't seem the sort to take any notice of that; its eyes glazed over and its brow furrowed while it stared at its opponent.
"That's quite a leer," Reginald said, seeing his bulbasaur inch backwards, unnerved by the leer. "But we've already got some experience under our belts! Bulbasaur, vine whip!"
Jetta caught a gasp, surprised that the bulbasaur had learned a grass move already. If she'd known that, she'd have been even more anxious about accepting the challenge. Now her little chimchar had no chance of winning. "Chimchar, use scratch!" Jetta ordered.
Once again her pokémon was quickest off the line. It leaped at the bulbasaur, which didn't seem to have mastered vine whip quite yet, and it scratched it across the face. A second two vines came from in Bulbasaur's bulb and it sort of pushed the chimchar in the face.
"Chaaaaar!" the fire type cried. It jumped back and wiped its arm across its nose. Then it closed its eyes. It made its hands into fists, and it stood there, seemingly in some sort of self-induced trance.

"That wasn't as effective as I'd have hoped. It seems to me your chimchar's special defence must be above average," Reginald noted.
At that moment Jetta was more concerned about what her chimchar was doing than how good its special defence was. Since it closed its eyes it had gone all calm and quiet. Reginald said that it was barely touched by the vine whip, but Jetta wondered if it had been super extremely effective... that would explain why it was seemingly comatose all of a sudden.
"Bulbasaur, use growl," Reginald commanded.
His pokémon ducked its head and let out a low growl at Jetta's chimchar, to try to discourage it, lessening its attack. Jetta wasn't sure if it would work though, since her pokémon's eyes were shut.
"Chimchar?" she asked.
In the blink of an eye the fire type leaped forward. Its fist punched straight at the back of the bulbasaur's head.
Next thing Jetta knew the bulbasaur was flat on its face, still as a stone, and her chimchar was walking back to her side, dusting its hands off on its chest.
"Inconceivable!" Reginald cried.
"What was that? Oh, I mean, Bulbasaur is unable to battle!" Petra corrected herself. "But what was that?"
Jetta pulled out her pokédex and pointed it at her little chimchar, which was now stood at her side, looking around at its new surroundings again.
"Chimchar, the Chimp Pokémon. It easily climbs the sheerest of walls and lives on mountain tops. When it sleeps, its flames go out."
Jetta looked through the information that was displayed on the device's screen. "This says it knows focus punch. How can that be? Wasn't that its - I mean his - first battle?"
"Sometimes pokémon can inherit some moves from their parents. I suppose you lucked out," Reginald grumbled.
Before you could say 'inconceivable' both Reginald and Petra had their pokédexes out and were checking their pokémon's moves. They were probably hoping theirs knew something powerful, too.
"As I expected. Nothing," Reginald growled.
"Me neither," Petra sighed. "I mean, either. But, oh well! I love my squirtley-poo anyway."
"Squirtley-poo?" Jetta winced a little. She felt for that little pokémon. She really did. Thinking about names, though, Jetta looked back at the pokédex in her hands, which was displaying a pop-up, asking her if she wanted to give a name her to chimchar. She crouched down to speak to her pokémon again. "What do you think about names? I was thinking maybe 'Charlotte', but you're a boy, so that doesn't work."
"Char," the pokémon complained. It patted itself on the chest and lifted its head.
"You want a strong, solid-sounding name?" Jetta interpreted. "Oh dear... Sorry, but I'm not very good with boy names."

"How about... Coal?" Jetta pondered.
"Char! Chimchar char chimchar," the pokémon responded, as positively as Jetta could hope, given her record of naming pokémon.
"Yay. I'll just type it in here," Jetta said, showing the chimchar the pokédex as she tapped in the name. "C. O. A. L. Coal. There. That's your name now. Coal."
"Char," Coal repeated after Jetta--or tried to, at least.
"Do you want to meet Gooper? She's my first pokémon," Jetta said.
"Wait a second," Petra squeaked, from right behind Jetta.
Jetta stood up and turned to her. "What is it?"
"You can't already have a pokémon. You're supposed to get starters from Professor Oak. It's to help new trainers star their journeys. You can't get one if you already have a pokémon. That's just not fair!" Petra complained.
"Alas, no," Reginald interrupted.
"Huh?" Jetta looked to him, trying to keep up with what was being said.
"Anyone starting a journey in a new region is free to receive a pokémon from a pokémon professor. At the professor's discretion."
"I didn't-- I didn't want to do it if I couldn't. I asked first - I e-mailed a week ago, and Professor Oak said it was fine. I only caught Gooper in the first place because we've been friends for such a long time. I haven't battled any other trainers before though. That was my first one, so I think--"
"Calm down! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to accuse you of anything. I shouldn't have assumed so much. I mean, presumed," Petra apologised.
Jetta composed herself and gave a little smile to the girl, who looked a little younger than Jetta. She was probably just jealous. Jetta turned her focus back to her pokémon. "Sorry Coal. Did you want to meet Gooper? So far she's your only team mate."
"Chimchar," Coal nodded. His mood had changed a little since the interruption from Petra. It seemed like maybe he was a little annoyed that Jetta had just turned away from him, mid utterance. Jetta told herself she'd have to make it up to him later. For now though,
"Come on out, Gooper."
There was a flash of light, which Coal kept his eyes on as it formed into the shape of a wooper.
"Uhpaa~"
Gooper appeared in front of Coal, staring him blankly in the face.
"Uhpaa~"
Coal frowned a little, perhaps confused, then he looked up at Jetta.
"Chimchar?" he asked, scratching his head. Somehow Jetta didn't think he was convinced Gooper was all there. Maybe... maybe he had a point.

"Wooper, the Water Fish Pokémon. Though they prefer to live in cold water, these appealing Pokémon forage for food on land. They are kept warm by a layer of insulating body fluid," two pokédex sounded simultaneously.
Jetta looked around and saw that both Petra and Reginald had their devices pointed at Gooper, to register it as seen.
"I notice your pokédex is different from ours," Reginald said. "Is it a Hoenn one?"
Jetta nodded. "I got it when I was quite young. My parents bought it for me, because they work away a lot, and I'd get bored. This thing kept me entertained for much of my childhood."
"So you must have lots of pokémon recorded on it, right?" Petra wondered. She pranced over, carrying her squirtle in her arms, and peered over the device to see.
"Lots of trainers came through Mossdeep, so..."
"One hundred and forty-eight?" Petra screeched. She seemed to go faint trying to comprehend how many that was.
"Well like I say, lots of trainers came through Mossdeep to challenge Tate and Liza. I used to sit on a rock a little way from the gym just holding my pokédex out and scanning everything that came past," Jetta explained. She didn't think one hundred and forty-eight was that much, in any case. At last count - if she remembered correctly - there were over four hundred types of pokémon in the world. Maybe more than five hundred. Her pokédex knew only a fraction of the total. It wasn't even all of the pokémon that were local to Hoenn.
"It's not even all pokémon indigenous to Hoenn," Reginald scoffed. Jetta got a sense of annoyance coming off him, all the same. He looked about her age, so he probably thought he should be at least equal to her. From what she knew of him, he might even expect himself to be more advanced than her. He seemed the sort who liked to look down his nose on the people around him.
"Have you ever seen any legendaries?" Reginald asked, his curiosity getting the better of him and leading him to Jetta's side.
"Well, not exactly. I mean, I haven't seen one myself. But, look," Jetta said. She went to her bookmarked pokémon and selected the page at the bottom of the list.
"Latios, an Eon pokémon. Latios is highly intelligent and can fly faster than a jet by tucking in its wings," the pokédex said.
Reginald snatched the pokédex from Jetta's hands and gawked at the entry. "Latios. Inconceivable!"
"Chimchar!" Coal shouted. He jumped up and scratched the man across the belly, causing him to drop the pokédex, which Coal grabbed as it fell toward him.
"Ouch!" Reginald howled. He snarled at the pokémon and went to lash out at it. Jetta stood in the way, though, and stopped him in his tracks. "It scratched me!"

"He was getting my pokédex back. You didn't have to snatch it off me. You should've just asked," Jetta argued.
"All right, I apologise. But he didn't have to scratch me," Reginald grumbled.
"Okay. I apologise too," Jetta said. She knelt down and accepted her pokédex from her pokémon. "Thank you Coal, but you shouldn't attack people like that. You should only attack pokémon, and even then, only when I ask you to. Okay? You could get into trouble if you hurt anyone."
"'If'?"
"Leave off, Reg. He didn't even mark your tee-shirt," Jetta snapped back. "So, I think it's time you two went back into your pokéballs. We've got a journey to start!"
"Char," Coal nodded, while Gooper hopped around, mouth agape.
Jetta smiled, then returned the two, before standing and looking at the two trainers behind her.
"Which way are you heading?" Petra asked. "I hadn't thought, I don't know what to do now that I've got my squirtley-poo."
"To face Brock," Reginald answered, for both himself and Jetta. "Every new trainer leaving Pallet Town heads north, through Viridian City and the forest. The next town north of there is Pewter City. Brock's city."
"Who is this 'Brock'?" Jetta asked. Professor Oak had mentioned him too. Well, she assumed he was a 'him', anyway.
"Brock is the leader of the Pewter City gym. A specialist in rock-type pokémon--the best there is for miles around. Aside him, you'd have to travel to Roxanne in Rustboro City in Hoenn, or to Roark in Oreburgh City in Sinnoh. I've heard he has an aerodactyl--and a regirock to boot. I'm going to ask him to use both against bulbasaur and I, so I can register them in my pokédex," Reginald said.
"What about the gym in Viridian?" Petra asked. "I know there's one there--I saw it for sure."
"I think I saw one too," Jetta concurred.
"Hmph. That's Gary Oak's gym. He's never around. I've heard you have to book an appointment several months in advance. Another rumour is that once a trainer has seven badges Gary will take them seriously, and he'll drop whatever he's doing to accept their challenge," Reginald explained.
"But I thought gym leaders had to accept challenges?" Jetta said. She'd never heard of a gym leader turning away a challenger before. It seemed very unusual.
"Try telling that to Gary Oak," Reginald scoffed.
With everyone's pokémon healed and returned, they agreed to set off for Pewter together, and assist each other in capturing more pokémon to help them in the battles ahead of them. At first Jetta didn't think she'd enjoy travelling with Petra and Reginald at all, but as they went, she decided that it would only turn out bad if she made. So, with her friendly attitude pinned tightly on, she headed back for route one, and all that grass.

Kira Teban

User ImageUser ImageUser Image

Kira found himself in the center of town, sitting on a small bench next to his Elekid. He was busy turning a map every which way trying to figure out where his current position was. He finally positioned the map properly and looked up to Elekid. " Hold this for a minute." He said as Elekid jumped up and plopped down ontop of the map to keep the wind from blowing it away. Kira reached into the backpack for a pen and something to write on, making a list of travel plans. He examined the map and decided that he would head North up past Pallet Town and into the forest toward his the first Gym in Pewter City, he figured that was as good a place to start as any. Hopefully there would be someone willing to challenge him along the way, or at least something to keep him busy. He put the piece of paper and pen away, then as he reached for the map he could see someone approaching from his right. He turned to face a man with a bicycle. He was wearing a helmet complete with workout shirt and pants, it looked like he had been sweating all day. " Excuse me sir, is your name Kira Teban?" The man said, reaching into the small pack on the back of the bicycle and pulling out a small cardboard box. "Um....yes. I am. Why?" Kira said with an eyebrow raised, Elekid slowly standing to its feet. Kira grabbed hold of the map and began to place it into his backpack as Elekid found his way to the ground, now standing directly in front of Kira. "I have a package for you, from...." The man quickly checked the tag and looked back to Kira. " From your family." He said almost with surprise himself. He handed Kira the package and mounted the bicycle. " Sorry, I have a schedule to keep, have a nice day!" He said as he peddled his way down the path, turning right and out of Kira's view. Kira looked down at the package in his hands, somewhat in shock, somewhat in fear of what might be in it. But after all it was from his family. He checked the tag once more to make sure, it read: ' Goodluck! Love, your family'. Kira opened up the small box pulled out the small device within. To his surprise it was a Pokdex, he couldn't tell if it was a brand new model or one of the regular models but it was a Pokedex nonetheless. He couldn't help but feel a little overjoyed as he began to play with it, registering his own pokemon as he messed with the new device for a moment. When he was finished he tucked the Pokedex away into his backpack, he had wondered why his parents would never purchase him a Pokedex on Cinnabar. He stood from the bench and looked to Elekid who seemed to share the same excitement. " Lets go Elekid." He said with half a smile still on his lips. His brushed a hand through his blonde hair and after tightening the scarf around his neck to keep it stable he began walking toward the Northern exit of Pallet Town, Route 1.

User ImageUser ImageUser ImageGlint made his way through the town gates, already slowing to a stop. "So this is Pallet Town. Not much to it. Looks like I'm heading to..."
Having learned from Gran and Grampa that the parcel was meant for someone in Pallet Town, Glint had decided just to head there and focus on his exact destination once he'd arrived. So, now that he was there, he checked the address once more. "... to The Pokémon Laboratory. Oh hey, this must be for Professor Oak. I wonder why Kiki couldn't deliver it? She's usually there and back in no time with Professor Oak's parcels."
Gruff was a little concerned too, and not just because of the oddity of Kiki failing to deliver a parcel to the Pokémon Professor. There was a strange smell in the air too, which he knew meant there was trouble ahead.
Glint smiled at Kai and started to speed up again. "Well I guess we can go straight to the Lab!"

Slowing down into a walking pace as he followed Glint from Route 1 into Pallet town, Kai couldn't help but admire his surroundings as he saw them for the first time. "Wow... it's so tranquil here..." he spoke his honest thoughts aloud, with a quiet voice as if he didn't want to accidently disturb anything and ruin the scene. Pallet town was quiet, but nicely so- it had a fresh and clean smell, with well kept and inviting homes and buildings. It almost reminded him of Sandgem and he instantly understood why new trainers were drawn to this place. Other than the fact Professor Oak was situated here, it really did appear to be a perfect place to begin an adventure as Pokémon trainer or whatever other path one might choose to be.

Looking over to glint, Kai was happy to hear their destinations were in fact the same. "Guess that makes everything a little more direct then.. after you!" Kai smiled, walking behind Glint as they approached the larger building in Pallet- it wasn't hard to realise that it was probably Professor Oak's Lab.
PostPosted: Sat May 19, 2012 12:49 pm

User ImageUser ImageUser ImageAs they approached the Laboratory Glint began to look around, to see if there was anything in evidence to explain why Kiki couldn't get the package to Professor Oak. She could usually fly down to the front door and ring the bell, but clearly she hadn't been able to for some reason. Perhaps it was as simple as the doorbell being out of service, or nobody coming to answer. Glint would've been surprised at either of those eventualities, though. Kiki was more determined than to give up over such a small stumbling block. She'd have got someone's attention, somehow.
"What do you think, Gruff? Everything looks normal to me. Quite peaceful, really," Glint said, approaching the building, to being walking around to the front entrance.User Image
"Grawr." It was a very blunt noise that Gruff let out. It didn't sound like he agreed about everything being normal and peaceful.
Glint stopped walking. For a second he felt a bit of a chill, and expected something startling to happen. Maybe a pokémon to jump out and roar at him. But nothing happened. Except, a bit of a breeze picked up. Glint dismissed it and took another step forward. That's User Imagewhen a pidgey swept down and flapped its wings extremely rapidly and extraordinarily powerfully. The gust knocked everyone of their feet. It swept up sand from the path and created a whirlwind. Glint crawled to Gruff and tried to shield him from the attack. It was ferocious--and all from a little pidgey. Glint couldn't believe it.
"Stay down, Kai! I'll try to scare it off!" Glint shouted over the roar of the wind. "Gruff, when I get out of the way use flamethrower on the pidgey."
Gruff nodded that he understood. The second Glint rolled off him he opened his mouth to let out a ferocious stream of fire. Only, he couldn't. The second Glint rolled off him the hurricane wind picked him up and sent him flying into the wall of the Lab.
"Gruff!" Glint shouted. He scampered forwards, fighting against the wind that pulled at his clothes, and he dived on top of Gruff again to protect him.
A second later the wind stopped - in a second it was cut off, as though a door had been slammed shut on it. Glint pushed himself up a little and looked around. Everything was serene again. Just as it had been.
"I guess... I guess it left?"
"Why hello there!"
Glint scooped Gruff up into his arms and stood. "Professor Oak? There was a pidgey--"
The professor was stood a little way from the group, looking far less windswept than Glint and Kai must have appeared to him. "I know the one. The Legendary Pidgey, I've been calling it. It's gone now. I developed a sonic emitter that scares it off."
Glint shook his head a little, confused. "The Legendary Pidgey?"
Professor Oak shrugged his shoulders, very blasé about the idea. "Yes, yes. I know what you're thinking. Come inside and I'll see your growlithe is okay. We can talk more over a cool drink."

With little- well, no- warning, Kai found himself flung into the air like a ragdoll by a fierce gust attack, sand being blown everywhere. Landing not quite so neatly and with a thud, the boy quickly opted to push himself up a bit, hearing Glint's warning. "If.. If you say so!" kai responded, sputtering his words a little with the surprise of the event still having a hold over his mental state. However, he was a little worried that Glint might not be able to pull off a defence if the Pokémon responsible for the attack was around- in which case, even though Kai he probably wouldn't amount to much, he'd help out regardless of Glint's warnings.

However, it never got to that point- Kai struggled to watch through the churning wind, but it suddenly stopped. It wasn't even a fade either, but an immediate halt. Had the Pokemon responsible for it ran off? Why would it? Then again, why would it attack in the first place. So many questions sprang to the young trainers mind.

but all of them shattered as Professor Oak appeared. Completely star struck, Kai quietly overheard Glint and Oak's introductions, ending with them being invited into the Lab. Getting up onto his feet, Kai would closely follow Glint as he entered the lab- he would speak his peace and introduce himself to the professor when the older boys business of delivery was done first, as it would be naturally more important.
PostPosted: Sun May 20, 2012 1:20 pm

User ImageUser ImageUser ImageGlint stepped back out into the fresh air and unconsciously looked around for any sign of the Legendary Pidgey. It'd been quite a scare when that thing attacked. It must have been the reason that Kiki couldn't get to the lab to deliver the parcel. Professor Oak didn't seem too upset about not getting it on time anyway, so it wasn't so bad.
"Back up to Viridian, then?" Glint asked, feeling a little strange without a box tied to his hip any more. He still had his Cleffa egg tucked under his shirt, which neither Kai nor Professor Oak had commented on. They may have thought he had a growth or was just fat and been embarrassed to bring it up. He figured now would be a good time to expel those thoughts, if they had crossed Kai's mind.
Supporting the egg from beneath, he brought it out from under his shirt. A little polishing with his wristband and a tap here and there, and he was happy that the cleffa inside was doing okay. He glanced to Kai and explained. "Cleffa egg."
Then he tucked it safely back up his shirt, where he could keep it safe and warm. "Shall we head off?"

Walking out into the sunlight, Kai casually took a breath of fresh air, ready as always to continue his adventure... at his own personal pace and advance, of course. "I suppose so. We obviously can't take the quicker route over the ledges though... but going through the grass could be just as fun. You never know."

When Glint took out a Pokémon egg, Kai looked at it almost blankly, trying to decode what it was in his head, before Glint revealed what the sphere was exactly. It seemed the boy wasn't one for details and took everything in his stride and didn't seem to care what his travelling companions looked like in terms of lumps or looks... that, or he was genuinely oblivious. Some point between the two, probably. "Cleffa...? I don't know that Pokémon. It is one native to Kanto?" Kai asked curiously. The only species he was really acquainted with were those of Sinnoh, after all- and even then he was far from an expert on those at that.

Walking upwards through Pallet town, northbound, Kai intended to continue this minor conversation on a walk, heading back into Route 01 fairly quickly this way.
