"That should about wrap it up for the day," Neko said having a look up at the sky. It had been cloudy most of the day but now the wind was starting to pick up. The weather certainly wasn't favorable in any case.

"Are you coming inside for a while?" Sometimes Riyo stayed and sometimes she left immediately after training. Neko never knew what exactly she had in mind for the day but he wanted to let her know she was welcome to come in. He rather enjoyed her company, it was strange to think he used to like being alone. Now the thought was a little unnerving.

--

Making his way through the forest Klyde grumbled lowly. He hated wading through plants and underbrush just to make it to Neko's house. It was bothersome but he would make the trek because it meant picking Riyo up from...whatever she was doing out here.

"I don't know why he doesn't have a clear path to his house from school. He can't possibly do this everyday to go to work," Klyde groaned. Though the vampire just didn't have the keen eyes of observation. There was a path but it looked more like a deer path than anything. It was narrow and somewhat hidden but it was there and actually avoided a lot of the problem areas Klyde was trying to maneuver through.

Blade just shook his head at Klyde's whining. The path towards Neko's place was a bit obscure, but it wasn't impossible to follow. Having used it a few times, he didn't have too much difficulty navigating the area.

"He's probably used to it by now. Something tells me he didn't really like visitors all that much anyway," he mused, recalling the first time he followed the guy to his little establishment. The janitor didn't seem entirely pleased to see that he had discovered his home. He was also rather certain that Neko chose to live out here for a reason.

"Alright." Riyo sighed, standing to her feet and following Neko's eyes to the sky.

"Well, Blade and Klyde were supposed to be heading this way soon, so probably not." As much as she liked the quiet reprieve she got from lounging around at Neko's, going out with the two kept her social level up.

"But I can come in and make you some... Thing..." Riyo had glanced towards the slightly beaten path and seen... A cat? A small black cat.

But it moved strangely. It was a subtle strange... And she couldn't quite put a finger on what.

"Hey... You don't get many stray cats around here, do you?" She couldn't imagine he did, considering there were wild animals who could easily eat the small creatures.

Then... It started to approach. Slowly, as if it was planning to pounce a mouse. Normally, Riyo would've run up to the fuzzy creature and welcomed it with open arms... But this one... There was something very wrong with it.
---

Just behind the two treading in the forest, a black cat looking exactly like the one that Riyo had just seen traveled quietly behind them, red eyes trained to the bi-pedal beings. It called no attention to itself, and just like the other... Moved in a strange way. What was it doing?

"Stray cats? Not often. What are you-?" But Neko's eyes had already settled on the creature Riyo was looking at. Neko's eyebrows furrowed a little seeing it. The way it moved was a little unnatural, like it wasn't real.

"Just leave it be," Neko said cautiously. "If it's still out here we can leave some food for it or something." Though Neko hoped it would be gone. The cat was acting strangely, especially approaching like it was. Like it was poised to attack.

---

Klyde only grumbled more at Blade's answer. Sure, use logic in the matter. Finally it seemed the vampire stumbled onto the trail after trekking through all manner of brush and shrubs. Dusting his pants of a little to rid it of burs and thorns he continued on. He was no wiser to their follower than he had been of the path that led into the forest.

"I just hope there is an easier path out of this place." Klyde hoped they wouldn't stay long. It was obvious Neko didn't like him and he couldn't say he cared all that much for the janitor as well.

A bit more walking and Neko's cabin was in view a few yards away. It looked like Riyo and Neko were currently outside, though their focus was on something close to the ground that Klyde couldn't see with all the plant life in the way. "Hey, it looks like they are up ahead." Picking up his pace a little Klyde followed the path the rest of the way to Neko's house, eyes focused on Riyo.

Shaking his head again, Blade just continued on towards the path, spotting the little cottage up ahead. He noticed Neko and Riyo outside already, though they seemed to be staring at something close by. Following their eye lines, he managed to spot a small form on the ground. Focusing on that, he saw the black cat there as well. Something seemed a little... strange, however. Maybe it had rabies?

Moving a little more quickly to catch up with the two, he kept his eyes on the small critter in the meantime.

"What's with the cat?" He asked.

"Neko.. I'm not sure that's a real cat." Riyo said reluctantly, taking a few steps back as the cat continued to approach. It looked like a real cat. Probably smelled like a real cat... But the way it moved... Almost like an old claymation show... Was very unsettling.

And those red eyes. Those piercing red eyes... No, something was very wrong with this animal.

"Maybe we sh-" She was about to suggest they go inside, before she spotted Blade and Klyde approaching. "Stay away from it!" She shouted to the two... Until she noticed another right behind them. It was... It was the same thing.

"What the..." And that's when almost 100 glowing red eyes opened from in the trees and bushes surrounding. It was like... Like a cheesy horror movie, but 200x as scary since it was actually happening.

Neko looked at the feline again that was approaching, that jerky movement making chills run up and down his spin. He was about to shuffle Riyo toward the house but it seemed the boys had shown up...as well as more quests.

The hair on the back of Neko's neck stood on end as he witnessed the countless red eyes popping up out of no where. The tattoos on his arms and back began to tingle and shift and his eyes narrowed to tiny slits scanning the area for anything more. What the ******** was going on? "This can only end badly."

Stepping back a bit further Neko took in the situation. It looked like they were surrounded and it was difficult to say how many of these cat like creatures there were. They seemed to be emerging out of everywhere.

Klyde had paused for a moment when Riyo said to stay away from it. He looked confused. It was just a cat. Though now that he looked at it, it was moving a little strangely. "What's wrong with....it?" Klyde's question trailed off as he saw other red eyes forming out of the darkness and emerging from places he was certain a cat couldn't hide. They were everywhere!

A little uneasy he picked up his pace toward the cabin being sure to avoid the feline as Riyo had told him to. "What the hell is going on?" He asked as he came to stand next to Riyo looking out into the forest as more and more cats appeared.

Halting when Riyo shouted at them to not get any closer, Blade started at the cat, noticing then that it had red eyes. This was definitely not a normal cat for sure. And about then he saw that they were completely surrounded by more of these things.

"... Oh damn.." he murmured while looking around. This didn't look like it was going to end very well, especially if they all decided to attack. Sure the four of them could handle themselves pretty well, but there were just so many cats! They likely wouldn't come out unscathed by any means.

"Where... did they come from..?"

"It's... It's not a cat." Riyo mumbled as the creature started to close the gap. She couldn't run from them. Not all of them.

Immediately, they started to converge, the one behind Blade simply walking past towards the spot where Riyo stood.

Reaching for Klyde's hand, Riyo looked at the eyes surrounding her with an unsure glance.

When they reached her spot, they just... Sat there and stared up at her.

"... What do you want?" She asked them, receiving no response. Just soulless glances.

"N... Neko? Friends of yours?" She asked without taking her eyes away from her.. New companions. Surely he knew something about this... Surely.

"Found you." A masculine voice called out from the forest's edge, the tall figure shrouded in shadows.

Immediately, all the cat's eyes pointed in that direction... As Did Riyo's.

"F.... Found who?" She asked meekly.

"You. I've been looking for you." It called back, taking one step forward out of the shade. The reason he'd been so hard to see was because he was covered head to toe in black... Besides those eyes. Those piercing red eyes that had become a trend lately.

As Riyo took his hand, Klyde gave it a light squeeze, his eyes never leaving the felines as they surrounded them. He seemed to be on edge waiting for something to happen but they were just sitting there....staring.

Turning to Riyo slightly with a raised brow, Neko couldn't help but drop a sarcastic comment. "Yes, friends. I forgot to tell you I'm a cat hoarder."

Though when the new voice spoke up Neko and Klyde both wiped their heads around to the source, their eyes focused on the larger mass of moving shadows with the same eery red eyes.

"And who would you be?" Klyde asked, stepping a bit closer to Riyo. He had a bad feeling about this, that sense of danger looming over him.

By this point the tattoos on Neko's arms had begun to shift rather erratically from the strong sense of demonic energy around them. It was like they were calling out to it, craving the power that was around them. The sensation left Neko's skin feeling like it was on fire, itching and burning but he did not dare to move.

Wary of the creatures surrounding them, Blade tried to keep an eye on as many as he could in case any of them were going to try to pull anything. Apparently Neko didn't know anything of these things either, but then the voice called out.

Turning his attention, he saw the black figure with startling red eyes. He was somewhat surprised with how many red eyed people he was running into now. Now he didn't feel so out of place. But that was something to think about for another time.

"Who are you?" he asked along with Klyde. Something about the the cats and shadows seemed... familiar, but this couldn't be Jessie pulling some weird stunt. The vocalist didn't seem like the type to do this sort of thing, unless he was going to try and scare Riyo to get closer to her.

Yeah.. that wasn't likely.

The man didn't answer to Blade or Klyde's calls. He barely acknowledged either with glances.

"Now... What have we here?" He asked with the tilt of his head, eyes resting on Klyde for a moment before glancing back to Riyo. "You don't need some little vampire to protect you. Aren't you proud of what you are?"

The cat's eyes went back to Riyo... Though they looked upset.

"And what does your fiance think of this?" The figure grew ever closer... Though he didn't make much sense.

"I... Wait... F-f-fiance?" She asked with a rather stupefied look. Not only was she confused about who the ******** he was and how the ******** he seemed to know her so well... But... Fiance? Really?

As he got closer, it was obvious he was wearing a trench coat and some kind of scarf around his head.

"Yes, that... Man over there." The figure gestured towards Neko... Which made Riyo pale. "W... What?" She squeaked out.

As this mysterious man closed the gap and stood only feet away from Riyo and Klyde, the cats melted to the ground in unison and shot towards the figure, crawling up his legs and disappearing out of sight.

"At least my worthless son had the decency to pick you out someone appropriate."

Worthless son? fiance? WHAT?

"GODDAMMIT. WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT'RE YOU TALKING ABOUT?" Riyo finally screamed, getting pissed the hell off at the spewing of nonsense.

Pausing, the mysterious man's hands moved to his head and slowly began to unwrap the scarf... Revealing a man who looked very much like Jessee... With short hair and a full beard.

Riyo stood there for a moment, almost stunned. This was... "G-grandfather?" It took a little bit of effort not to call him grandpa.

"Well I'm certainly not the pope." He answered back, his voice and face rather emotionless.

"Fiance?.....Me?" Neko asked with a quirked brow. "Did I sleep through something?"

"You better not have," Klyde hissed, his angry eyes turning back to the old man in front of them. All this fiance talk had Klyde rather angry. True he wasn't ready for a step like that, he had never said 'I love you' for fear of what Riyo would say, but it was like he wasn't good enough....or maybe he wasn't but what made the janitor so much better? He was a janitor!

Watching the cats being recalled Klyde couldn't help but sense some familiarity. True they were different in form but only slightly, but being Klyde his brain didn't often complete a full thinking process so he was still left a little in the dark until the man pulled the scarf away from his face. He...looked like Riyo's old man.

"Grandfather?" Klyde questioned.

"Oh good....more family. This just gets better and better." The tattoos had started to calm a little, though Neko could still feel his skin tingling and burning. "I don't know where you got the idea that I and her....her and I are.....together....but your information is a little off." Boy this felt a smidge awkward.

"I would say," Klyde nearly hissed. "I'm her boyfriend!" He sounded a bit defensive at the moment, his grip on Riyo's hand a little tighter.

Suddenly feeling a little invisible, Blade stared at the stranger with surprise as he referred to Neko as Riyo's fiance. Well he at least wasn't out of the loop considering how surprised the others looked as well. Besides... wasn't the janitor like... six years older than them? Something like that at least.

"Her... Grandfather?" he repeated before remembering the guy being mentioned the day they met Jess. Wasn't this guy supposed to be a bitter old man who wanted nothing to do with anyone else?

Alistair didn't seem the least bit intimidated when Klyde started to anger. On the contrary, there was a glint of amusement in his eyes.

"It's too bad I don't have a sense of humor. I might've found this funny." Silently, the man reached into one of the sides of his trench coat, retrieving what looked like one of those girly teen magazines. His gloved hand held it out to Riyo, waiting for her to take it.

Very reluctantly, Riyo reached out her free hand and grabbed the flimsy book, immediately realizing what was on the cover.

It was her... With Neko... In his house, and her father off to the side. The headline read "Rock star's daughter cleaning the house of her future husband? Details on page 54!"

"W..." Riyo's eyes held a sense of devastation, not only because the press had actually put her on the front page, but... Everybody at school had probably seen this by now.

Half-heartedly, she tossed it over to Neko so he could see the news even they hadn't been informed of. "It's not true." She mumbled to her grandfather like a child who'd been accused wrongfully of taking the last cookie.

As she looked, Alistair folded his arms and watched, his thoughts not leaked by his body language. "I don't see why not. I'm sure you have fun with your little vampire friend, but he's useless in the end, you know." Glancing over at Blade, her grandfather continued. "The human too. But only slightly less so. You really don't want to contaminate the blood line."

Immediately, Riyo stepped closer to Klyde to where their shoulders were touching. "Klyde's not useless." It was a very serious tone. She didn't appreciate this man coming out of nowhere and telling her what was what just like she hadn't liked her father doing it.
