I've started reading some books about liberation theology...that is, theology from the margins, from oppressed peoples. Now that has been Marxist...of poor people, feminist, of women, Queer, etc.
Apparently there are also theologies of disability.
What I was wondering is if there are any of mental illness? I have found that churches...particularly the conservatives, have an understanding of mental illness that degrades and excludes the sufferer, and rejects their experience of life. I thought it would be very interesting to read someone trying to write a theology from below...from that perspective.
Any ideas, books websites etc? Any input would be most appreciated!

Wouldn't this be just liberation theology from the perspective of the disabled?

Very much so...but I have never read such a thing, and don't know where to start.
