EVENT ORP

A single beacon of light shot through the fog, illuminating the entire cornfield expanse. What on earth could it be this time?

Some of the more sharp-witted squad members might have been able to put two and two together: the colour of the beacon of light was the same colour as the pendants that promised to grant freedom. For those who were not exactly the brightest coconut of the batch, at least they had the consolation that the signal seemed inviting, brilliant, warm. It screamed with it, even as the signal disappeared I am a clue, come find me.

[E-13 entering Event ORP from TASK]

E-13 was back in the cornfield. It was more glowy than he remembered. The light could probably be seen for miles around. ...Just what he needed. More attention. The smartest thing to do would be to switch helmets with someone, but he didn't know what part of his uniform exploded when he took it off.

He had his knife, but stabbing first and asking questions later might not be the best policy. He could always hope he was so lucky no one had checked their cell phone messages. That didn't seem likely.

Better to stop thinking about the pendants as tickets out, and to start thinking about them as bargaining chips. The problem was that once he bargained them out, people would still think he had them.

He needed back up.

Pink Team, Blue Team, Orange Team, he didn't care. But once the blows started flying, he'd be the first target. Just like Bandaids. And then it wouldn't matter who was helping him, except they'd want to make sure he died within looting distance. ....What he really needed was a miracle.

[A10 ENTERING ORP from cornfields!]

Feeling for all the world like an elf dancing amidst the trees in the oldest forest in Middle-Earth, A10.......... looked down and the vision promptly disappeared.

Sigh. It was sweet and all, for him to suddenly swing her over his back and piggyback her while running towards the source of the light. She appreciated it, really! He should do this more often; saved her the trouble of walking, too.

Clinging to his backpack, she tried not to fall off...

but it seemed some things couldn't be helped. Ouch... T__T;; At least... they'd come close to wherever the light was from. Was it aliens, come to make crop circles in the corn?

A10 didn't know. She fully expected PONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIES to appear again, though.

Always PONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIES, never not PONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIES
PONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIESPONIES. Right?

[A7 is entering ORP from Cornfields with a ponylover on his back, apparently.]

As A7 clumped towards the beacon of light, he felt A10's grip on his back slip. He tried to stop, but that only made it worse - and the momentum had her bumping into him, and then dropping right off. He turned around, and tried, really hard, not to laugh.

No, really, he tried.

"BAHAHAHA- OH, kitten. You are something. I don't know what, but something, all right." He held his hand out, ready to help her up, and tried even harder not to laugh anymore. He succeeded!

"Bahaha.."

Somewhat.

(a-4 entering)

"Not quite cricket, to laugh at the fallen, old man. Hrrrmmmmm...hah...hummmmm...." A-4 made thinking sounds for a good few moments before exclaiming, "Right then! Don't wanna fall myself, given any chance, haw-haw. Damned horse smoked me out something good, you know. Better patch up while I can, eh?" Kneeling down, a-4 began to make use of one of his medkits. "Can't rightly say if I was a doctor or not, poppet, but I suppose I can try and ah...what's the saying...right! Play one on the tele."

[ A-Eleven ENTERING the ORP from the cornfields --Go Go Phoenix Squad! ]

It hadn't been difficult to follow the others, they'd made a bit of a path through the corn. A-Eleven certainly wasn't complaining. She might have decided to act, but that didn't mean she wasn't nervous. Who knew what the light had been coming from? Hopefully something good. Likely not. (What about this island had been good? Other than A-Ten not being dead, of course.) Didn't matter, though. She would be ready to back up her team no matter what.

She simply nodded at the other members of the Phoenix Squad as she caught up to them. Yes. She was ready for anything.

(( T-13 Entering from travel in Lighthouse ))

Theta Thirteen wasn't sure how he got so lost in the cornfield, he was following the light thinking it might lead to the town only to wind up stumbling around in a maze of corn. Somewhere behind him Theta Five was hopefully following along. It was hard to tell in all the corn stalks.

"Dammit it all to hell I should have stayed on the other road..."

[Z4 Entering from the Cornfields]

Z4's singing was quieter now than before, more of a nervous hum as he wobbled through the corn stalks towards the glow alone. No one had waited for him, but he supposed that made sense. Everyone had their priorities. Perhaps he'd make some more friends here? Someone with some bandages for his burns at least?

He saw a glint of pink uniform through the corn stalks closer to the glow. Ah, was a young lady in trouble?

[A1 entering ORP from The Cornfields]

Z-Four had quieted down, at least, his singing muted to a nervous mumble. A-One wasn't quite sure what he felt about that; on one hand, calling attention to their position might be a bad idea, but on the other, the singing did tell him that Z-Four was okay. In a relative sense. He quickened his steps slightly to catch up with the other man and patted Z-Four's shoulder. "Okay there?"

[Zeta Eight is entering from the 'coming in for a landing']

Zeta Eight had taken a little longer than it should have for her to make it to where the light had pierced the earth, the mace in her hand slowing her down far more than she had expected. It didn't seem to bother her, however -- her hands were tight around the base of her blunt weapon, held like a baseball bat in front of her as she slowed to a stop where the others had, stepping pointedly over Alpha Ten as she approached the center of the group, her eyes sweeping slowly over the others like a radar, calculating. Alphas Ten, Seven, Four, Eleven, and Zeta Four. The others had not yet caught up to them, if they had thought this a good idea to being with. Clearly they were not making a good team so far, running off on their own.

Coming to stand beside Alpha Eleven, she shifted so her back was to the other girl, shoulder brushing the other's a little brusquely, pairing off in case of an ambush. Zeta Eight didn't say anything, but she did glance over her shoulder at the other before sweeping her gaze around them again, assuming she would understand the action. Words could be deadly at a time like this.

[A-12 Entering from the Cornfields]

A12 had lost the crew along the way. When she had last looked up, it had been into rustling areas of cornfield stalks. At first, she had been quite nervous-- being separated and all. But it hadn't been so bad, with nothing jumping out at her.

What drew her away from her fear was the bright light emanating briefly from .. Well, A-12 didn't quite know where. But sensibly concluding, she assumed others had been attracted to and that was where the Phoenix team was headed. (They always said, GO TO THE LIIIIIIGHT, right?) A12 ran after the source of the light, eventually entering the clearing with the rest, short of breath and appearing from some nearby but unknown area. Her face lit up as she recognized a few familiar faces. Phoenix was here, after all! Thank goodness!

"C-Caught up .. Phew!"

[A-Nine entering after 'coming in from a landing']

A-Nine was so intent on following her other team members that she almost over-shot them. It was hard to see in amongst all these towering cornstalks, and so easy to get lost. Dumb corn. In a mild fit of pique, she grabbed a nearby stalk and pulled it back, quickly letting it go so that it whipped forward again, like a slingshot. The stalk almost whacked Z-Four in the head.

"Ack! Erm, sorry about that!" A-Nine called, apologetically. The last thing she wanted to do was upset her other teammate. Everyone was so grumpy and on edge as it was; it would be a shame to annoy the only other person on Phoenix team who was at least somewhat fun. Besides, Z-Four knew a lot of interesting showtunes.

A-Nine looked around for A-One and nudged him a little harder than was strictly necessary. "You guys are mean. Next time wake me up, okay boss?" She smiled then, to show that she wasn't seriously annoyed, only to realize belatedly, yet again, that the other man couldn't see her expression under this stupid, stuffy, sweaty, stinky, mask. Ugh.

Her burns were starting to hurt again too. Looking around A-Nine saw A-Four using one of his medkits. A-Nine brightened again, "Oooh! That's a good idea!" she said to no one in particular. Digging through her pack for one of her own medkits, A-Nine went to do the same.

(( A5 entering from Beach via travel! ))

As they moved toward the waving stalks of corn from the path, Fiver had moved up ahead of the other two, trying to peer over the tall plants and see if anything interesting was about. He also made some attempt to avoid any shadowy-looking areas, remembering that text. "Oh ... it's probably closed then," he muttered to Fiver II, glancing back at the others.

"But uhm. Hey guys, look at that light ... it's kinda like the pendants, isn't it? "Let's go check it out!"

[Zeta Five is ENTERING from Beach Travel]

To say Fiver II was in a better mood was an understatement. The man was practically jovial. He was walking behind the group but close enough that if one was listening they would here a soft undertone to his voice. He was singing to himself. It was the only thing he could really recall at all and even then it wasn't a lot. "Every part in my heart I'm giving out. Every song on my lips I'm singing out. Any fear in my soul I'm letting go. And anyone who ask I'll let them know~! She's the one, she's the one. I say it loud: She's the one, she's the one~I say it proud!"

He was even doing his own kind of movement with his feet akin to almost dancing ever step. Not enough to move his entire body but enough to be to a beat. Yes, he was happy. Why? They were alive! They were a group. This was going to end with the three of them winning.

He just had to protect them and keep up faith. He would be THEIR knights! He stopped blinking at Fiver when he finally lifted his eyes from his feet and from his train of thought. He furrowed his brow at the odd light. "A pendant?" He inquired then nodded a few times. "I agree. If we get one then we're a step closer to making it off this island..."

A hesitation, "What do you think, Sir? Is it safe?" He asked Three standing a bit more rigid like a 'true' solider.

((Entering from Epsilon Base Camp!))

E-Ten was running as fast as she could toward the light, stumbling a few times when running as she would often hit a stalk of corn or step on an ear of it and send herself flying. Countless times did she hit the ground and curse, but finally she saw him. The beacon of pink amongst...amongst...

Hooboy. That was a lot of red and orange.

She scrambled to a stop and just stared at the new squads. She knew they were out there somewhere, the texts enough had implied that, but to actually see them...s**t. Shitshitshit. Where was Thirteen again? She had to get to him before they did. She just had to. She spotted the pink fool again and ran toward him, waving an arm. "Hey! Idiot!" It was the only thing she could call him. She didn't want to call him 'E-13' that would be like stamping him for death...
