Avoiding her classes and for the most part her friends had seemed to work well for the gryphoness. For now at least. Avoiding most hadn't worked exactly completely well especially on the last field trip the school had. Lucky for Tahki, she got to spend all of it on the beach with Amrita drawing in the sand while other students risked it out in the foggy unknown. Tahki had not envied them nor wanted to question just what had gone on. She'd been around for the christmas field trip and it had been enough for her to lock her self mostly in her dorm for months.

Tahki was wandering the halls of the monster dorms now for the first time since the students had gotten back from the field trip. A game boil in her hands and a book under her arm. Yes, Tahki was prepared to block out most any social approach that might be lurking around any corner. Being anti social was serious business after all and Tahki had mastered the art of being not even a blip in peoples radars her entire life. So now, fully prepared, the gryphoness set out for the monster common area. Round this late hour it usually was unoccupied and left the perfect opening for her to play some games on the big screen.

The gryphoness could see it now. Full graphics blasting on the blazing screen in the way a gamer was meant to enjoy such games. Gore. Violence. Cute little chibi things. Oh all the gaming possibilities spun through Tahkis head in gamer bliss. That was until she walked into one of the sofas and fell head first over into its coushins. The gryphoness let out a little "EEEEP!". Before she knew it, Tahki was head deep in coushins and looked like an ostrich hiding in the sand. All Tahki could think to do was flail. Her game boil and books had fallen to the ground.

Ren had spent the morning being aimless. After LW, Alessa, ad Gabrian had left earlier, Ren had simply lied around feeling listless and drained. It was rare that he was alone anymore, but at the moment he was feeling like he was slowly sinking into quicksand without a lifeline. He had been like this for several days now, ever since returning from the field trip, and finally, after mentally wrestling with himself, Ren dragged himself out of bed, trying to at least spend time outside of his own room. He did not bother getting dressed; instead, he padded out into the hallway in a pair of black pajama pants and a black teeshirt, no shoes as usual. Carrying a pillow under one arm, he made his way down the stairs to the main floor, towards the lounge area of the monster dorms. It was perhaps not the farthest away from his room Ren could get - after all, he was still in the same building - but he was at least out of his room. He was planning on just sitting on one of the couches, hooking up the SkarioStation that was down there, and playing some Skario Kart.

The common area was empty when he arrived, and Ren flopped down onto one of the plush sofas, nestling himself deep into the comforting fabric. He held his pillow against his stomach and pulled the controller onto his lap, turning on the skelevision with the remote and settling down to lose himself in the game.

That lasted all of five minutes before there was a thump, a small squeak, and a clunk. Ren dragged himself out o the game to look to the left and find a pile of feathers in his face.

"Er," said Ren, blinking. Whatever - or rather, whoever - was there was flailing, obviously surprised, and Ren set aside the controller and pillow, slowly pushing himself to his feet. He crossed around to the other side.

"Hold on," he said, and his hands gripped the person's waist, tugging firmly to pull whoever it was out. They came easily, which made Ren stagger backwards, nearly losing his footing. His injured hand gave a sharp twinge of protest, and Ren winced, feeling his foot hit something as he let go of the person. He glanced down. A Game Boil? he thought, reaching down to pick it up, holding it out to -

...another gryphon? Shock jolted through Ren, his eyes widening slightly. Yes, that was definitely another gryphon - a ghoul, with white wings. ...white? Ren thought, trying to wrack his brain for the gryphon race he knew was white. His parents had told him, but it was difficult to remember.

"Er," he said, somewhat awkwardly. "You, er...dropped this."

The trauma from having her head stuck in the sofa was still fleeting through Tahkis mind. Not only that but some one had seen it. Embarrassing thoughts danced about her head distracting her from the real shocker. There was another gryphon standing right in front of her. Nope, that hadn't hit home yet. Instead Tahki was beet red and finding it hard to meet the strangers gaze whom had saved her from the deadly penny and chip filled depths of the sofa.

"Oh.. Umm.." Tahki's eyes flicked up for a moment to catch the gaze, and the rest of her savior. Not so surprisingly , Tahki stared with an open mouth. Shocked. Unable to fathom that there was a gryphon here at this school her own age. The gryphons Tahki knew were older, stuffy things whom had no time for children. Tahki had no siblings or cousins for that matter growing up. So finding the right words for this moment here was not the easiest at all.

"Your a gryphon!" Hands clasped over her mouth. The words had come out on their own with out any warning. Had that been the wrong thing to say? Did she maybe offend this student? "I-I mean! I am too!!! Uhh..... UHHHH...." The gryphon shuffled back ward with out even thinking about it and found her self sitting on the sofa that had imprisoned her just moments earlier. The expression on her face was frozen in a state of panic from not knowing how to react to this circumstance. Tahki knew she didn't want to run away this time though or ignore this gryphon student here in front of her.

"W-well... thanks... Uhh... sorry..." She grabbed the gameboil gratefully and looked downward into her lap. Socializing. Not Tahkis greatest strength in general but now she felt her self feeling even more out of the loop when it came to her own kind.

Another gryphon. Ren's expression most likely mimicked the other's, his jaw slackening, eyes wide with surprise. Out of all the people who he had expected to see, could have seen, another gryphon was not one of them.

Not that he had never seen another gryphon before; obviously he had, considering he had a twin sister, as well as gryphon parents. But a second gryphon - a female gryphon, near his own age, at Amityville High School was, to say the least, a little shocking. In a good way, however, rather than an unpleasant one. Except rather than dark skin and wings, this one had pale skin, enormous white wings that were larger than Ren's curling against her back, a pair of gold headphones looped around her neck.

Ren blinked. "Er," he said, still holding the gameboil awkwardly in his hand. "Yes. Yes I am. And so are you," he pointed out, somewhat unnecessarily, gesturing with his free hand to the ghoul herself. "Except you don't look like me, You have white wings."

The ghoul reached out, taking the gameboil from his fingers, and Ren let her, still trying to figure out what sort of gryphon she was. After a moment, he realized that he had been staring, and added, somewhat lamely "Er...I'm Ren, by the way..."

There was an awkward pause. Ren shifted from one foot to the other. "What's your name?"

Tahki kind of just stood there and listened to Ren who she was finding was equally surprised. It hadn't dawned on the ghoul that Ren was puzzled about what type of gryphon she was. Honestly, Tahki was just as puzzled by the different coloring and wing size as Ren.

But then Ren gave Tahki a bit of a freebie with his comment the two looked different. "Oh.. Yeah we do look different don't we..." The gears were still turning up in that white haired head of Tahkis trying to come up with a polite way to ask why the two looked so different. But then it dawned on her, she was an arctic gryphon then that meant maybe he was a different terrain? Were there other gryphons that didnt live in the arctic!?

The thought was lost for a moment though with Ren offering his name and asking about hers. Tahki tilted her head for a moment with an 'Uhhhhh' dumb founded expression for a moment before gathering up her courage and telling him.

"Tahki Yuki.. Its nice to meet you Ren." She gave him a small shy smile, "I have to wonder... Your species isn't from the arctic ...right?" The last word trailed off into shy unsureness. Not that Tahki hated being wrong, but she didn't want to offend this gryphon if he was indeed a different breed. The game boil was nervously fiddled with in her hands, part from excitement and part from nervousness.

Another gryphon. Despite the fact that his head felt like it had been slammed with a baseball bat, and his body ached and his hand was throbbing, and all he wanted to do was sleep, Ren was...enthralled by this ghoul. Another gryphon. It made him irrationally excited inside, though he didn't show it outwardly, except for maybe the stupefied and probably dumb looking expression on his face. He clamped his open jaw shut, his eyes moving across the wide, white wings of the ghoul's, sweeping over the white hair, the white ears. So alike, and yet...

He blinked, realizing she had given him her name. "Tahki Yuki," Ren repeated slowly, with a nod of his head. "Ah, it's...it's a pleasure to meet you, Tahki Yuki."

And for the first time since returning from that horrific island, Ren meant it. He was pleased to meet this ghoul. Someone like him, someone who could share what he could. It was a rather thrilling thought, though it was obvious that this gryphonness was a tad shy.

He tilted his head at her, barely catching the last half of her question. From the arct....OH.

Ren actually managed a real smile. "No, I'm - we're - not from the arctic," he answered her with a small shake of his head. He stepped around her to move back to the couch, sliding onto it and pulling his knees up to his chest, his eyes moving back to the ghoul. "I'm a standard gryphon," he said, by way of explanation for his coloring. And now that Tahki had said it, it was obvious that she was an arctic gryphon.

"Have you always been at Amityville?" Ren asked her, somewhat hesitantly, though the curiosity was obvious in his voice. "I've never et another gryphon here before."

Tahki , in turn, inspected Ren as subtle as she could manage it. This was no easy task for the shy gryphoness as staring could be quite embarrassing. A shy glance every now and then, to Rens wings, then the tail and the ears and the freckles, was so painfully obvious that Tahki probably would had been better off just out right staring.

"Oh.. Umm.. Standard.,, yes?" Tahki nodded like she understood what that meant. In reality the snow white gryphoness had no idea what Ren meant by standard. For what ever reason Tahki had never taken an interest in studying up on her own species. And the painfully secluded childhood that Tahki had endured had left her more or less a little in the dark. Were arctic gryphons NOT standard?

That didn't seem to matter right now though because , again, she was standing in front of another gryphon HER OWN AGE. That was what mattered more then anything else. Tahki was excited to be here with this gryphon, but her excitement also was meant by nervousness. Her wings for instance were now wrapped neatly, and closely, on to Tahkis back and her ears were folded back in a submissive sort of way.

"I've.. been here for quite some time. Since the beginning of the semester.." Her yellow eyes met Rens shly, "I usually don't like going to class though. To many students." Eye went wide and Tahki felt her hands clasp over her mouth. Had she said that out loud? "Oh.. I mean.. Uhh.. H-have you been here long.. ? Huuh...."

It was almost a game, the way the both of them were surreptitiously attempting to scrutinize the other. Ren was curious as to how he had never seen this ghoul before at school; certainly a gryphon stood out, but not by much here at Amityville. Not to mention she was not the same coloring as he was - an arctic gryphon, Ren thought, clearly fascinated by this concept. I never knew there were real arctic gryphons. Mother and Father always insinuated that we were the only kind, but a real arctic gryphon...

There was a brief moment of twisted pleasure when Ren realized that he could shove it in his parents' faces that he had met another gryphon - just not the ones they had probably expected him to meet. But he shook his head, dragging himself back to reality; he could hear the hesitation and mild confusion in Tahki's voice.

"Do you...not know what a standard gryphon is?" he asked her, not intending to be patronizing, but asking out of a pure curiosity. "You have white wings, white hair, paler skin, and your wings are larger than mine are. Whereas I have darker skin, darker coloring, and, well, freckles, but that isn't really a gryphon trait, only a Renaissance one."

Ren managed a halfhearted smile at her, tucking his wings against his back as he regarded the ghoul. "I see," he said, tapping a finger against his knee as he wrapped his arms around them. He gave her a sympathetic smile. "Ah, I understand, don't worry. It gets a little...overwhelming, I suppose. Sometimes I just want to skip myself."

Except he knew the others would kill him if he did. So instead Ren dragged himself to and from the rooms as if in a daze, not particularly paying attention to anything. Meeting Tahki was one of the the first times something genuinely good had happened to him since the field trip.

"I've been at the school a few months now," he answered her, giving a friendly nod. "I tend to stray away from the larger crowds, though," Ren added and gave a somewhat sheepish shrug. "Too much, ya know?"

There was a pause as he thought, and then he added "So what do you like to do, Tahki Yuki? What sorts of things does a gryphon ghoul enjoy?"

Tahki had to grin a little as Ren pointed out their , indeed mild, but significant enough differences. Still she couldn't help but wonder if the two differed any more then that. Did the standard gryphon still guard treasure ? Or was it just the arctic breed that did that. But it would seem that Ren him self was turning out to have some in common with Tahki much to the gryphonesses amazement.

"Skip? R-really? YOU?" He got overwhelmed too? Wanted to skip? But for some reason he looked so brave. "I .. Well.. That surprises me. You seem ....." She didn't finish her thought though. Ren had asked a question wanting to know what it was SHE liked doing.

"Well.." Tahki looked down shyly for a moment before raising her eyes to meet Rens. "I like video games and reading... and collecting treasures I suppose... " The gryphon stopped for a moment and looked thoughtful. What else did she enjoy doing. "Usually I like to keep to my self too unless if its one or two people.. any more then that and I get nervous." Had she really just gone and admitted she wasn't found of crowds? Ren had said he wasn't always found of crowds him self but it seemed like an odd comment to make.

"Guess those are pretty silly interests huh.."

This was definitely a strange situation, but not unpleasant by any means. It was a little bit like looking in a mirror, despite their obvious differences in both coloring and in height (and gender as well, for that matter, and it was a curious thing, to be looking at a gryphonness around his own age. Ren had grown up in the gryphon culture, had spent years at various parties and gatherings and events, forced into socializing with those he did not care for. The ghouls there had been flighty, irritating, and Ren had merely put on a facade for them, smiling demurely and deferring them to the others in the room. But Tahki was different in the sense that she was most definitely not like those ghouls whatsoever. She was...normal. Down to earth.

He smiled at her, letting out a small laugh. "Yes, me," he answered, and shook his head a little, reaching up a hand to push some of the stray strands of hair from his face. "I think everyone likes to skip classes at least once in their lives. You just get so wrapped up in everything; sometimes it's nice to take a break."

Tahki was speaking again, her voice barely above a whisper, and Ren felt his smile widen. "Video games?" he repeated, clearly excited, though he was attempting (and obviously failing ) to hide this. "I love video games; have you ever played Scario Kart? And don't worry," he added, waving a hand nonchalantly. "Everyone gets nervous and overwhelmed in large crowds at some point. Doesn't mean you're any awesome than the rest of us!"

Tahkis ears wiggled at the mention of Scariocart. A smiled unfolded from her lips and she couldn't help but nod. It was hard to contain the excitement now swirling around her though that he not only was a gamer but he knew game titles that she liked. It wasn't Fallen Halo or Call of Gorey. Ren had asked about a game that she liked.

"Scariocart is awesome." Her voice was as gentle as ever but there was some excitement building up. "A-and.. Yeah.. Large crowds.. Ermm.. " Tahki looked up and then back down at her feet. She didn't really want to talk about her anxiety problem. Video game talk was way more fun and way more up beat.

"I really like Resident Good... I've played all of them but Code Veronica was my favorite one.... I.. like thrillers." She eyed the tv behind Ren. "Where you out here about to play scariocart?"
PostPosted: Mon May 16, 2011 9:48 pm

One of Ren's ears flicked interestedly towards the ghoul as she smiled, a grin spreading across his own face. It was soon after the field trip, yes, and though he did not know if Tahki had gone through the same sort of mentally and physically exhausting experience that Ren had had (or if she'd even been on the field trip in the first place), he was grateful for the fact that they could still stand here and talk about something small, something...ordinary. Something as simple as Scario Kart.

"It is," he agreed fervently, his wings fluttering a bit. His head tilted curiously at the other games she listed, interest flitting openly across his face. "I've never played any of those," he admitted ruefully, curling his tail into his lap. "But I'd like to some day. Maybe you can teach me," Ren added, grinning. His eyes moved to the skelevision set briefly, then back to Tahki.

"Yes, I was," he said, gesturing to the game console. "I find it helps me relax and just think a little more clearly, despite the nonsense that video games don't help you grow."

There was a pause. Then Ren asked, a little hesitantly "Do you want to play with me? It's usually more fun if more than one person is playing."

Tahki lifted an ear at Rens confession of never playing any of the Resident Good games. It surprised her a little but she wasn't about to get on his case about not playing them. She her self had not played every game title after all. Even some of the more popular ones.

"We can play Resident Good some time in the future then." The gryphon nodded.

The offer of Scariocart was to awesome to pass up. Tahki gave Ren a very large smile before giving him a "YES!" A little too excitedly. Tahki out of habit covered her mouth and turned a little pink in the cheek area.

"Y-yes. That would be really nice. I haven't played video games with another gamer before... in person.." She admitted but gave Ren a little bit of a competitive grin, "But I do play online and have a pretty high score." With that she headed over toward the skelevision. Game time was serious business.
PostPosted: Sun May 22, 2011 3:37 pm

Ren grinned up at Tahki, nodding emphatically. "Yes," he said in agreement, pulling his knees up to his chest. "Yes, I'd like that. You'll have to teach me how to play, probably," he admitted, but tilted his head and gave the gryphonness a friendly smile. "But I'd like to learn."

Tahki had accepted his offer of playing, eagerly agreeing, though her cheeks turned pink with pleasure. The ghoul really was rather adorable, and very sweet. Ren felt very happy to have finally met another gryphon, especially one his own age, and he had a feeling LW, Alessa, and Gabrian would get along well with her too.

The grin deepened, shifting into a playful smirk when she mentioned the high score. "Is that right?" Ren asked airily, and held out the second controller. "Why don't you show me this high score of yours, then?"

Game time certainly was serious business, indeed.

A challenge? Ren had challenged her! Tahki paused for a moment a little unsure what to say. Course she'd kind of asked for the challenge being all cocky and what not but Tahki still very much had deer in the headlights syndrome. It took a moment for her to get her serious gamer business attitude back.

"R-right!" She nodded, " I mean.. Th-thats right.." Tahki gladly took the controller from Ren and took a seat giving him her best game face. Gaming online was one thing but gaming side by side with a friend. This was going to be new.

Tahkis online persona was a lot tougher then her real life one. Attitude wise though Tahki was the same even if she was a lot more introverted in the real world about it. Fire still blazed behind those golden eyes of hers. A friendly game of scariocart was going to be on and it was going to be serious.

"Im ... gonna be ... the princess.." Tahki selected the horrifyingly cute pink bubbly character. It almost burned to click select but Tahki wanted to impress by picking the scariest character in the game.
